This video Fish Veterinarian Dr Loh tends to a situation where a pH crash has occurred and explains to you the deadly consequences of a nutrient overload. Doctor Loh shows you how he treats skin ulcers and septicaemia in koi fish, using special antibiotics and fish bandages. We finish up by explaining situations where pH crashes can occur, and how to avoid such disaster.

Greatly appreciate taking the time to film and narrate these visits! Hopefully in the future you can get an assistant to help film to make things a little simpler for you. I would think anyone interested in becoming a fish veterinarian would jump at the chance to be your assistant.

Many of the visits are responding to emergencies and is difficult to schedule help. We have a student chapter of the World Aquatic Veterinary Medical Association at Murdoch University locally where I volunteer time with the students who have an interest in fish vetting.

Ok but the fact that you were so nervous trying to help these fish that you had to film a disclaimer is incredible in itself. Too many people stop caring about animals when they're aquatic and it makes so sad (and angry tbh) I just found your channel but I love it already.

Please tell me which kh buffer you use and where you get it. I have 2 Koi with red blotchey flesh (1 with small red spot that will become ulcer if cannot stop fast, and the other is worse, large jumbo Koi with bloches spreading and looks like will soon have bad ulcers). I did 2 PP treatments this Spring, but it is still getting worse - HELP SOMEONE? Should I do another PP treatment or try to get antibiotics. Here in CA they passed laws making the antibiotic food illegal....smh

Update: I did notice the PH readings were off this am so I re-tested. In 14 years never had a PH problem as I am on well water. This am realized PH crash happened. Did the PP treatements or the Melafix drop the PH? The KH tested 40, PH 6.2, and GH 300 (very hard). Added baking soda, but still need to know if I should do another PP treatment or try to get antibiotics. Salt is about 1.5. Thank you for anyone that knows about this. Before the PP treatments I was loosing a large Koi per year to ulcers.
