    This is exactly how I plan paddling trips to places I have never been. Google maps is a good way to find parking and launch spots.

      Agreed, but I have also picked up a couple of books, one of them is fantastic it's just called (Paddle Scotland) by Alasdair Findlay, shows all the great spots for kayaking/Canoeing and paddle board. Loads of great info and plenty of colour photos.

      I have driven past there about 100 times and often thought one day I will have to get out on there and now I finally get to. I have always loved Scotland ever since I went up there with my parents as a young lad many many years ago 😁
      I was even a fan of the Bay City rollers.

    That will be a brilliant adventure, hope the weather gods are kind. I'm planning to take your old x500 to Arran & Kintyre early this summer.

      Me too That's the one thing about Scotland (well apart from all the midges) the weather can change so bloody fast, one minute lovely and the next Storms from Hell... Haha
      Kintyre That's a beautiful location, you never know I may see you there if I'm still looking for a place to park lol

    Phone the duncan mills slipway and theyll tell you if you can park overnight, failing that you can launch on the river at the public slipway next to balloch house hotel and park the car in the carpark up the hill, failing that consider duck bay or aldochlay bay outside luss.
    That spot on inchmurrin is very popular and can be a right mess at times, tbh you wont miss much if you skip the first part of the loch as its quite busy.

    Looks like a great adventure George! Excellent video and presentation making really good use of map services at overview level all the way to high detail. Nicely done!

      Glad you enjoyed it, and thank you for your kind words.
      Actually, I had to make this twice because the first time I had the mic turned off and didn't realize until I watched the video back and side heck what have I done (or words to that effect lol)

      @@THE-RIVER-RAT Ouch! Lost a whole, 98% completed, video just before final touches to be able to render, due to an Adobe crash. Will need to be redone from scratch. I feel your pain - but it turned out nicely!

      @@AirOnTheWater I feel your pain too my friend.
      Good news today for me, as I managed to get out on the water, and shock horror the tide has started to drop, and it was a lovely sunny day (Hit the river about 0730 and didn't get back until 1400) Now just hoping to get plenty of days on the water before Scotland as I need to get my stamina up because if all goes to plan Haha, I'm looking at about 60+ miles of padding, but at least it's not all in one day.

    I've just got back from there and it is absolutely massive and I doubt you'll get anywhere near the top end..stick around the islands you'll have plenty to see and do.

    • @THE-RIVER-RAT
      @THE-RIVER-RAT  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The plan was a 4 to 7 day camping trip up and down the loch, as I wouldn't want to just stay around the islands, However, thank you for the info. But all I need is somewhere to leave the car closes to the loch

    Should be ok. There is the river up to the loch from Balloch if you need to park elsewhere and paddle up.
