I love the compilation publications. I've picked up Men of Iron, Musket and Pike, and Julius Caesar. The latter I had most of from its original release, but it was worth it to get the consolidated games in one box with the latest edition of the rules.

nice episode. I have the same view of GBOH Simple as you. This product is top notch and well worth the value. I'm still working my way through SPQR so don't know when I'll get to these. Meanwhile I get a nice warm feeling every time I see it sitting on my play queue on the shelf.

I don't feel like the Simple GBoH rules are all that mich simpler. They do play faster, and they facilitate moving to other games in the series, since the rules are unified.

The simple GBoH rules are quite a bit simpler and play faster. The scenario specific rules are much easier to deal with as well. Once you internalize the rules, you could rip through several battles in no time. You do lose the flavor of the command and control system for each of the armies though. It's kind of like a step between C&C ancients and full GBoH.
