      Rich They already had an identity,thousands of years old .The Romans came to rape this land and enslave its people .But apart from the roads what did the Romans ever do for Britain 🇬🇧😉

    • @eustacemullins6970
      @eustacemullins6970 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No the romans have tried to destroy the identity, these isles were the home of The original Aryans who were the Druids.They were finally annihilated by their Atonist enemies who arrived in Britain approximately 1,000 years BC.This much is conceded by scholars (past and present) who, firstly, did not realize where the so-called "Celts" originally came from and, secondly, that the term "Celt," as first promulgated by Roman mythmongers, was both inaccurate and prejudicial.

    • @Dragon-jn4jd
      @Dragon-jn4jd 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      LizardonPlayer so why did so many tribes all over the Roman Empire rebel against them ,they came to Britain in the end to exploit the land and the people just like all empires did .Don’t forget that most of what we know comes from Roman historians .They were very smart but also ruthless conquerors.

    Before the invention of long distance observation equipment such as telescopes and binoculars I doubt the british tribes could see the roman fleet until they were in relative close proximity. Also I believe roman tradesmen bartering goods from Rome to Britain and vice versa were the first romans to set foot in Britain before Caesar.

I don't have any sources on hand but just concentrate on actual research and not documentaries or videos. That side of history is unfortunately not as fun as this and requires more reading than anything else.

      Despite what mainly Roman myths say, Britons traded a lot with the world and were well known people. The Greeks visited and traded with Britons way before Rome existed.

    Pure Ceasar propaganda here. Expected better. Everything depicted in this video shows the Britons as devious and bad, while the virtuous Ceasar was a man of honour.
    If you consider this "invasion" a success, you are quite delusional. He secured a beach head, at the cost of hundreds of men. Made enemies of the Britons, got 1/2 his ships damaged and fled back across the Channel. His 2nd "invasion" was an equal disaster.

    Great video!
    I'd argue that even though Romans (and Caesar in particular) where very much able and willing to lie to get reasons for war and conquest, the British probably DID support the people in Gaul. Firstly, Britain isn't far removed from modern day France and there was probably lots of trade and communication. Secondly, prior to Germanic peoples (Franks, Angles, Saxons) taking over both areas and forming the states of England (Angland) and France (Frankia), both countries were inhabited by Celts, meaning that they probably had every reason to be on the side of their related trading partners. Thirdly the fact that they were ready for battle the very moment the Romans reached Britain's shores suggests that they were indeed closely informed about what Caesar was doing in Gaul and were sure that the Romans would antagonize them too.

    To be inhabitants of a quasi-mythical land, they managed quite well to communicate in Latin (or the Romans to communicate in whatever language the British spoke). I guess they were accompanied by merchants or whoever that had any little knowledge and experience of the islands. Also, the British were quite well prepared for Caesar's arrival, news travelled fast to the other side of the channel, it seems.
