to everyone who are baffled why srinivas was not shown they must understand the fact when god himself pulls the strings u can't see him doing that but only can feel and listen and know it's him irrespective whose face u see. bow to god srinivas
I've noticed I cannot keep my head at all still when this song plays. Its like one of those magical tunes (for want of a better word) which makes your head move at least a little bit, even when I'm in public and trying really hard not to. And I love Ustad Zakir Hussain's expression as they get right into the most delicate sections of the song - a godly song by a godly band!
this may be the 100th time i am visiting this page to listen to this, and i just don't get enough of this. words are short to explain the beauty of this piece.
Brilliant. This is an adapation of a South Indian classical (Carnatic) Music song (krithi) in Ragaa Bangala. Originally composed by Tyagaraja, and is set in aadi taal....and is invariably the first taught to almost all people wanting to learn Carnatic music On a lighter side: It is amusing to see Mclaughlin lose track of adi taal around the 4:30 mark.
no one like u srinivas . lots of love and respect. he is such a humble guy, he would definitely have underplayed to let john, zakir et al to have more time and space. he is such a guy.
What a performance!!! The little improvisations in the interludes are so clear and impressive! Thats what Shakti is all about. Upal and Zakir along with Shankar gives this number the touch of perfection...
Ya khudaaa.......what bliss is that I feeel.......mere words cannot explain....Wish with all my heart that I am born as a musician atleast in my next birth ..
This is one of the best live perfomances I have ever seen, the ambience , the artists and the sheer unision of excellent music takes this to celestial levels of bliss. I personally felt that Shankar Sirs voice was quite drowned by the mandolin and other instruments , they should have adjusted the output for his mic better. Take a look at Zikr saab at the portions, 5:30 to 5:48,6:08 to 6:21 and 6:27 to 6:31. He seems to be in trance just feeling the unity with the music. Amazing ...
had been to their concert in chennai yesterday. and it was an amazing event. i wish i could rewind in time and be there forever. bliss. absolutely!! the crowd went bonkers when shankar mahadevan started this song. i was lucky to witness this live. wish they give more concerts in chennai.
Potentially the best rendition i've seen post Nithyashree Mahadevan's version on the Explosions - I CD. I love how the guitar and the Tabla change the mood of the track.. and oh, the chord progression of John, man... how can this be possible? wow!
It's one of the greatest pleasures to watch and hear Shakti in concert. Thanks for sharing this sort of videos. Nothing more inspiring and moving than this sounds from the heart.
Love the vocals, nice seeing the one singing those vocal, Shankar truly is fantastic, again my tablas, the guitar, percussion, and the mandolin truly a fun piece to begin your work day. I was so thrilled and hated to have it end. Thank you for sharing bazonics, a great choice. Pease and Love!! : -) Namaste!!:)
@allsfieldsreq...a friend works as ustad's zakir hussian's event management team...she said that the drum is custom made...designed by him so he can fuse tabla and drums at his performances together. It's the same as drum only suits to someone sitting on the ground...as one has to when playing the tabla
very intelligent music, at first i did not know what to think of it... wtf is this music xD, I had to hear it a couple of times to like it :P now i LOVE IT!
this is one of the best pieces i have ever come across! amazing. an all genius event. just look at the co-ordination between them. it is a set of geniuses at work!! mind blowing stuff!
this is an amazing masterpeice, i just love the way all of them are open to experiment and bring about a total "masti" element into the expression. and please, no pun intended but dont try to be sarcastic about little issues just to be noticed here.
Great...really great..no words to say...Amazing performance..i cont type properly bcos drops are coming out from my eyes....thankyou shankarji, zakirji, and johnji...u r all really great..
many times this music in my past days, sometimes come to see me here in the present, who knows in the future? Great John Mc Laughlin.. PS see also "the mahavishnu orchestra.."
Great! What I've always wondered is how do they remember all those ... notes? Or "the tune". Having listened to many of the tunes I still can't remember how it goes all the time.
Dear bazonics did you watched the same song at Giriraj Sudha (Remember Shakti) posted by Jazzical28 on youtube? the same song in different style by our angels pure bliss
This is the best version of Giriaj Sudha, ever. Without doubt!
to everyone who are baffled why srinivas was not shown they must understand the fact when god himself pulls the strings u can't see him doing that but only can feel and listen and know it's him irrespective whose face u see. bow to god srinivas
The best version I have heard, U. Srinivas, you are greatly missed, Namaste and Pranams. 🙏❤️
It's Giriraja Sutha Tanaya - son of daughter of king of mountains. Sudha means nectarine, something completely different.
What a gifted person was Srinivas. I heard him in Warsaw.

the one and only John McLaughlin
@MrGreatTamil Yes I've got that dvd, it's a very good version.
Splendide.
Outstanding!
everything McLaughlin touches becomes a very good version ;-)
It is actually 'Giriraaj Sutaa Tanaya' meaning Lord Ganapati, The son of the Daughter of The King of mountains (Devi Parvaati) ..
God Level!!!
I mean "having listened to many of the tunes over and over, I still haven't memorized them so to speak".
It's an indian percussion instrument, normally the instrument consists of a pair of hand drums of contrasting sizes and tone colours.
Dear bazonics
did you watched the same song at
Giriraj Sudha (Remember Shakti) posted by
Jazzical28 on youtube?
the same song in different style by our angels

Zakir plays Tabla. I think you can buy it in the UK, but Im not sure. Try to google it and Im sure you will find a place where they sell them.
Wonderful!!!!
Excellent
@aditya200 That's ok because it shows how the musicians interact. Something that would not be seen otherwise.
Que maravilha!
@mdilip Dude it is not John but Mandolin Srinivas. You can see John clapping his hands to give the beat during the concert....
Thanks so much for sharing
