Thanks for all the comments and support y'all! It's been really fun reading all of your different thoughts and reasonings for why you would have different characters higher or lower, the new perspectives are definitely a treat to hear. Really just goes to show how balanced the game is party member option wise :) Over the months since this video, I'm not sure if I'd change much of this. I'm still fairly confident in my own judging, but I think I'd swap Teddie and Yosuke though. The real challenge comes for making a video like this for P5R and P3 though, just y'all wait for those ones
Rise in Arena: Man It sucks I'm not as good as Fuuka with my Navi skills. Also Rise: Lemme just buff the party while also bringing you back from the brink of death like nothing happened.
Well it's called plot for some reasons To be honest If you ask who's the best navi between fuuka, rise, and futaba I'll answer Rise is the best one, not because of gameplay but it's because how she support us with her cheering, she literally boost team morale easily than fuuka and futaba which they just simply compliment them while rise is like a hype woman or something like that
@@stevenr9975 of the three fuuka best feats are range based she can literally keep track of the entire party and scan enemy from the bottom of Tartarus to the top wich is crazy and a lot further than any other scanner has even come close to
I saw an hour long video ranking every party member in all the persona games based on them as people and how useful they are in battle and Rise was in middle cuz her skills aren't that useful and quote, "she gets jealous if the protagonist sneezes in the direction of a country that has a woman in it" That last point was fair tho
@@wander1139 fuuka is also capable of using her persona in the real world as she does in persona 4 arena. I know mitsuru has the rings that make an artificial dark hour but it was never stayed fuuka was using one to do that.
My final team was yukiko, chie, yosuke. They’re the first ones to join and my attachment to them was too strong to let any other member finish the game
It's also the best mix overall, since Yukiko is a core member (best healer, best mage), and she requires Chie (who is sloppy for a long time, but she catches up later) to follow up on all-out attacks. And Yosuke fills every gap what needed (buffs, phys dmg, magic damage)
same! i always tell myself ill switch it up this run. but then i get too attached to yukiko, then i invest too much time into kanji, then i remember how op naoto is..... the only thing stopping me from doing a run with the complete opposite team comp is that i got used to relying on yukiko way too much 😭😭
@@nightwish1453kanjis synergy is the buffs and debuffs he provides. Having yu using a persona to nerf the enemy’s defense, kanji can buff the whole party’s attack leading to devastating damage. And it doesn’t end between yu and kanji. Yosuke and kanji have an amazing synergy in skills in which yosuke can buff the party’s accuracy and evasion while kanji can nerf the enemy’s accuracy and evade. This puts your party in a position in which you’re likely to hit and not be hit. I beat izanami at level 80 with this strategy.
It's funny that you have the experience of Chie going down first. I never had that problem outside of bosses which spam fire Magic. Her evasion rate is just extremely solid imho, especially when buffed.
Ahh in Normal or Hard difficulty, Chie hardly goes down when played properly. But in Very Hard, shadows are sometimes stronger than bosses(technically most of the time) and can make Chie fall pretty easily especially when she is a weak mid game character. She will then be extremely strong after Naoto's dungeon.
Honestly, it is amazing how much Rise has going for her even beyond what you said. One very important thing to note is that *because* she's not a traditional party member, she doesn't take up a spot in your recruitment, which means she's present in every single fight you partake in after you get her. I also seem to remember that her AI for what she actually does when she appears for support can actually be manipulated somewhat. If you manage to keep everyone buffed and at high health throughout a fight, she will be more consistent in providing SP restoration and those free charges, which is just nuts.
The thing about Yosuke is that he is always good at all points of the game, and fully available. He's never the best, but he can always contribute, so you will never regret bringing him along. His shear consistency is his greatest asset.
Yosuke fucking sucks past early Game My Guy His DMG Output Is barely fucking anything everyone else Out damages him WHILE doing Other Things what are y'all smoking
What's even better about yukiko, is you can give her a full sp build, which pushes her max SP to 650+. Combined with Rise's passive SP heal, every fight started with a burning petals for me in endgame lmao
When I saw Chie on the bottom spot, I immediately thought, “Did they really just forget about galactic punt?” Sure, it counts as a physical attack, so you can’t follow up on enemies that have null/deflect physical, but it is the best follow up attack that you can get and you get it very early on in the game. I knew before watching, there was going to be one party member I wouldn’t agree with, but I didn’t expect to disagree so early in the video.
Chie is pretty bad until late game tbh. Her stats are low, phys dmg spells hp costs are extremely high and her frost magic skills is abysmal unless you waste some days into bike rides. When she is in party, you either have to deploy Yukiko only on healer role and waste her insane fire damage potential or heal her through items and healing personas. Kinda like "if you are very patient, you can level up until she is finally useful" or just switch her to Kanji (who has lower dmg phys spells, but has better stats and endurance overall) or Naoto (waveclear for entire dungeons). Imo Chie is low-tier, who gets to be useful only in last two dungeons, which... is not really what high tier should have.
@@PaladineAvenger1 physical damage is the strongest kind of attack and she’s the only party member who can hit multiple targets with that. Also early on she has tarukaja and galactic punt. Mid game she has charge which makes her significantly better than Teddie and eventually she gets probably the second best third awakening ability, she can save so many turns so it’s not right to say it’s a waste and you should bring another healer instead. Also her stats mid game are not that bad.
@@edwardsuou main problem with phys dmg spells - they cost A LOT of hp. Chie doesn't have any regeneration abilities (unlike Kanji), that means she needs a lot of healing from other party members to stay relevant and not dying on next turn. In midgame Naoto clears dungeons way faster, while staying healthy, because her talents include sp regen. Yes, Chie is a great late game carry and she has nice team buff, but to get to that level, you need to get through a lot of struggle
@@edwardsuou btw i forgot about one more bad thing about early to mid game Chie - she is almost completely useless against enemies with phys reflection \ high defence. Sometimes Chie would crit that hulk hogan into that 30% chance reflection just to die from her own spell, that was kinda... awkward. Also aoe phys dmg spells can be reflected as well
chie will always be my favorite character, and she and yukiko will always be in my team. Her thing with not feeling as if she is not good enough makes her my favorite party member to use. Even if she isn't good early game, imma still use her because it feels like a betrayal of her character to me.
I’m not gonna lie I skipped through this video to see if Yukiko was at the top (YOU DIDN’T LET ME DOWN!), I feel like people don’t give her her dues enough because they don’t like her as a character when she’s undeniably an EXCELLENT party member, she was carrying my team the whole way through I’m only a *bit* biased cause she’s my favourite girl also haha Same thing happens to Rise with people not acknowledging how good she is, although I guess if somebody disliked her enough to not do her social link, they also wouldn’t reap all the great benefits of her as a navigator
Like Yukiko is so good it’s a problem, like you said in the video you don’t want her to be healing at the end cause she does such great damage …which is where Rise always seemed to come in clutch with the heals and the buffs!
this is a great video! really well researched! love your stuff! I disagree about Teddie being so low, because I really just think the parties purpose in Persona ends up being buffing the protagonist, as the amount of damage he can do is LEAGUES above everyone else. Usually Teddie is so busy buffing/healing for me, it doesn’t really matter that he falls short in other regards! Just my take tho
1) Yu (of course) 2) Yosuke (Most versatile party member. Good magic, support and healing abilities, a complete party member). 3) Yukiko (Kinda tied with Yosuke, best healer in the game and really good magic damage). 4) Chie (Best physical party member in my opinion. Good physical attacks, HP and endurance and 3rd skill is OP, even tho it's expensive but if you have the item that halves your SP, there's no problem). 5) Naoto (When it comes to random encounter, she is the best party member. She also has almighty damage but it's hard to build her and using her in boss battles). 6) Kanji (Highest physical strenght and endurance but his attacks only target a foe, so there's not really a reason to use him over Chie. You also need to do his social link for him to have power charge, while Chie only needs to level up). 7) Teddie (He's outshown by literally everyone. He has Ice skills, but Chie already has those plus good physical skills, he supports, but Chie, Kanji and Yosuke can do that as well and his physical attacks are lacking.) Bonus rank) Rise: She's not a real party member but she's probably the most useful besides the main character
Well right now I'm at Mitsuo's dungeon and I feel like nobody really appreciates Teddies matarukaja and his decent healing (got blessed hands on him now he heals around 3/4 of everyone's health or more). He works really well as a dedicated support and I feel like it's a shame that everyone overlooks him. Sure he might do poorly everywhere else, but will it really impact you THAT badly? He gets pretty good heals with mediarama and matarukaja allows you to boosts everyone's damage. I feel like his biggest con is that his social link progresses with the story, which can hold him back from being as good as everyone else depending on where you are.
@@TheGamerWhosBored also Yukiko is better healer overall, and a better mage as well. And if so, why would you choose two healers for the team? She is the main reason everyone not taking Teddie into party
Now this is a tier list i can agree on! good point is that Yosuke and Yukiko are actually tied, they both fit in any team but yosuke is more versatile that can compliment any weakness, yukiko too good of a healer and damage dealer only downside is her physical attk and hard to utilize magic unless a second support ability is in the game. Because team composition is most important, Yosuke should be second. Chie can be a glass cannon but because u have support characters, her kit is too good with agility better than kanji as kanji have lack in agility while chie can confirm hits with promising damage with her final skill being extremely useful. Teddie is last because most of his supportive ability would not be utilize as much anymore and not to mention having very poor stats (when every character is at the same level of 70, teddie's stats will be the weakest overall, susceptible to damage and low agility and endurance in the late game) plus his final ability, Kamui Miracle and kanji's The Man's way is almost useless as they depend on chances and seeing Kanji and Teddie's luck both are equally less used. But teddie and kanji are strong chracters when paired up together with naoto, that's when they shine greatly and insanely strong team composition with good defense and offense. But again because of their lack in versatility, their ranking would not be high.
@@PaladineAvenger1 it is possible to use both and not having them compete for the them role, if you build teddie as an ice mage with the buffs (and just throw in the revive and status spells if you have room) then he can give out support yukiko won't have this allows sp depletion to be shared more equally which can be issue if teddie ends up doing everything and can burn up way to quickly even with the chakara ring
Got me with that Kamui miracle self-insert. Bursted out laughing when I took like 3 full seconds to realize that it wasn't a cut out from the wiki . +1 sub my guy
Having played Persona 4 quite a bit, I kinda question having Chie so low. Sure, Dragon Hustle costs quite a bit of SP, but that can easily be downplayed with a Chakra Ring which in my experience, helps Naoto minimally, and is a complete OVERKILL on Yukiko with her bountiful ocean of SP, so it's generally better to put something like that on characters who need it. Especially when you can be better off giving Naoto a +10 Magic accessory. Also, the resist on physical only serves to balance physical to some degree to magic, because the power coeficciency on Physical skills in 4 is outrageous. How outrageous? Well, let's take Persona 3, a game in which your magic users were freakin' nuts because the power coefficiencies between physical and magic were equal...ish. Sever Magic had higher power, on top of you being able to buff it with passives. What's worse? Black Viper could do more damage than an amp'd and boosted elemental magic skill. Now let's look at 4. Black Viper got the absolute nerf hammer with half it's original power, and magic also didn't fare off too well. Mean while physical skills were scaled through the roof, so in Golden, I'm sure they had to add resistance to physical so your magic casters could hold even a tea light to your physical peeps. Yes, this is how outrageous physical became people. And on Golden, you could even crit bosses for extra damage, but no knockdown, making Chie still overall stronger and crit builds using Yoshitsune absolutely broken...and you CAN'T tell me Hassou Tobi isn't broken. I'm sorry, but Chie is by far not the least useful party member in Golden. Even in my experience, Naoto and Yukiko could not do the damage of Chie nor Yoshitsune.
Naoto's Shield of Justice is really good for new game+ playthroughs and can save your team in a pinch (and somehow can block margaret's 9999 megidoloan) with the right build she can use it much more consistently then chie with dragon hustle, Yukiko can use chakara ring if you want her to be more offesive whilst still retaining the heal spells and status cure spells then it will make salvation less expensive to use
Chie is probably the second best party member in the game behind teddie. He’s mad capping. Chie has insane crit rate and physical damage. Also she is the only party member with useful multi target phys. She can solo most basic encounters.
My first play through I finished with Yukiko, Naoto, and Teddie as my main party members. For NG+ I thought about just going utility rather than straight damage considering how fucking fast Yukiko destroyed the bosses
I just finished my first playthrough of Persona 4 Golden recently, and I'm going to start a New Game+ playthrough pretty soon. Your video will really help. Also, best girl is #2, yay!
List adds up, as I never switch out Yosuke, Yukiko nor Naoto. Only two downsides to this roster: 1) No team up attacks. 2) Hardcore Risette Fan remains to be my only locked trophy in over *7 Years!*
could see why he didn't include team up attacks because that is more of a factor for team comps then character rankings and in some bosses it may likely to never occur like S.Kanji or most of the late game boss fights
Idk why everyone is so low on Teddie. He's the mvp GOAT in my opinion. He does strong magic damage and has all the healing and buff skills you could want.
The Chie downplay is crazy here. Her late and even mid game damage is crazy as long as you just invest in her. Sure Kanji has the higher atk but Chie gets the far better physical move pool, weapons and way better luck stat for crits. She also takes magic damage better than Kanji while also having far better evasion. Dragon Hustles SP requirment honestly isn't even that bad considering you're probably only gonna use it once after you're first set of AOE buffs go away. She even has her team attack with Yukiko which is good since she has synergy with the character you'll almost never end up benching.
Thanks for this video. I recently begun with Persona 4 Golden as my first Persona game, and I really wanted to know who were some of the better party members.
Kanji's Primal Force does about 2.3x as much damage (before critical hits) as Yukiko's Burning Petals or Megidolean before any Elemental Boosting equipment is applied, so Kanji will still generally deal more damage than other characters even when the boss has 50% Physical Resist. Yukiko's magic stat is competitive with Kanji's strength, comparing 88 MAG vs. 95 STR at level 99. Naoto, however, is a different story, having weaker spells, a weaker MAG stat (Kanji's 69 MAG vs Kanji's 95 STR at Level 99), and more difficult access to Elemental Boosts/Amp, although she still can have them, as she has a weapon with Ice Boost and can wear an accessory that also gives Ice Amp, for a max of +75%. Teddie and Yosuke can both get +100% elemental boost and similar MAG to Naoto, which makes them overall similar for boss DPS to Naoto, as Mind Charge, is effectively a 25% damage increase. Chie is really awkward as her STR and skills are weaker than Kanji's and gets Power Charge later, and her magic is only good enough for knockdowns. Her critical rate isn't actually higher either as compared to Kanji's, as Primal Force just has a higher base critical rate as compared to God Hand. This means that generally speaking, boss single target damage chart goes like: MC > Kanji > Yukiko > Naoto = Yosuke = Teddie > Chie. Of Naoto, Yosuke, and Teddie, Teddie is the best support, having both better healing and buffs. Naoto's ability to delete random encounters is strong, but the MC does it better and you generally don't need 2 people to deal with random encounters.
My dream team is Naoto, Kanji, and Yukiko. I usually make up for what the other members lack, so it ends up being pretty well rounded. Maybe there are better party combinations out there, but I haven't found it yet.
I always feel like people who think Chie is not a good team member just don't know how to use her at first because she's dependant on her physical skills and her health can get low pretty quick, and then people don't care to keep leveling her up cause it's easier to use the other members. But she becomes really great only later on and it's completely worth it. I always made sure to have my whole party around the same level. I find it more fun to mix combinations than use the same people all the time
In my personal EXP she wasn’t very helpful even in late game, but I’ve seen a lot of people argue Chie is one of if not the best party member in the game. I really do think the game is well balanced and that in all comes down to perspective rather than objectivity, which makes things like this fun to discuss!
You could say that Chie becomes great later on, but so does every party member too. This video also covers how characters perform early game + mid-game. Chie’s skills are pretty lacking throughout most of the game, right until Adachi’s dungeon. Sooo, Chie is pretty meh throughout the majority of the dungeons, which is why she placed at last.
In my experience with this game, Chie has always been the most OP character. There's a gap where she goes several levels without learning relevant skills, but once you get past that, she becomes a complete BEAST (if you've properly invested in critical damage, power charge, God's Hand, etc)... My endgame party was full girls: Chie, Naoto and Yukiko. Chie took care of physical damage, Yukiko provided support and used fire spells, and Naoto was the most versatile, using the remaining elements and almighty. This was the most satisfying party of any RPG I've ever played, and Chie was my favorite character (mainly because of Galactic Punt, who always got me a good laugh). My only regret was not being able to teach Yukiko Mind Charge in time, but she was still very powerful and essential.
Its a travesty that Chie doesnt learn any of the Bufudyne skills or even Ice Amp, but i guess Power Charge makes up for it. But Yosuke’s Auto Skills makes him at level in Phys damage (sometimes even better) for normal shadows
I really like this kind of RPG games discussion even every people have different opinion, it's nice to see how we both giving info and what we think about it.
@@edberaga Eventually I'd like to do this for P3/P5R, I'd just like some more video variety before I make another ranking vid. P5R would probably come before P3 though as I'm a lot more well versed in knowledge for that game.
My final team for my first play through was Chie Kanji and Yukiko 😳. Their synergy was pretty good overall, only issue was the Marie boss battle. It would have been Naoto instead of Kanji but I wasn’t able to max out her social link by the end of my first play through.
I think the list changes a bit when we consider runs without the bike skills, since those require giving up time to max everything in a casual run. The craziest part is that Yukiko is still one of the best characters even without Mind Charge. Chie meanwhile can’t even learn tier three magic spells without the bike dates which is terrible. Yosuke also spends a lot of levels waiting for phys skills to be a available, but using him with kitchen knife set pays off in third semester.
my endgame party was yosuke, teddie, and naoto, and then my MC having thor, so we covered every element. i know yukiko is the best for dps, but by the time i learned this she was already FAR too underleveled and i just didn't feel like grinding to get her on par with everyone else
These are my team composition. I base them in order of who’s useful in the moment and their overall style of contribution to a fight. Slot 1 yosuke or naoto. Both are good at single target dps physical and magical though yosuke is more useful at magic and support while naoto is better at physical and defense. Slot 2 kanji or chie They are both easily the best physical dpsers in the game on top of both having their own style of magical dps Chie excels at landing critical hits while kanji excels at dps per turn when it comes to physical attacking both are very useful when killing golden hands. The last slot is teddie or yukiko. Teddie and yukiko are both support roles that can remove bad status effects, deal magic based dps and heal the party when they are in danger. Yukiko is a better healer while teddie is a better dpser/buffer. If you want your party to have survivability bring yukiko but if you want to end a fight faster bring teddie. Those compositions should have all you need to keep your bases covered.
We must've played very different games if you have Chie on the bottom. She's across the board one of, if not the best party member for clear, bosses, golden hands, and reaper. Toss her a Chakra Ring after she gets her party wide heat riser and she's bananas. But whatevs :)
As much as I love Rise, it’s kind of odd to me to this day how she’s the one to be navigator. I really don’t understand the character purpose, as compared to other navigators, it doesn’t really suit her much. If she were the only character to “see” herself, that would be different, but since that character arc occurs for nearly all party members, it doesn’t really fit imo.
I think the funniest part of this video for me is that in my first playthrough Yukiko was literally the first person I dropped. (Ended up being Kanji, Naoto, and Teddie in the end). I just never used her. So seeing her so high up and two of my 3 party members near the bottom had me laughing
Honestly I super undersold Teddie here(wow it's been over 2 years). I think the strongest party for how I like to play is probs Yukiko Kanji Teddie. The former two are the best damage dealers for magic and phys and Teddie comes equipped with party healing, attack buff, and enemy defense debuff. You can really turn things to shreds with these guys, but it's not like the game is so difficult that you need some optimal setup. Will say though that Naoto is still very helpful especially for the optional super boss, having Shield of Justice is always handy + no weakness to worry about.
My final party was Yosuke Kanji and Yukiko. Yosuke for support, Yukiko for healing and damage, and heat riser + debilitate + power charge + primal force Kanji for around 2000 damage lol
Yea fully buffed Kanji can be a monster lol. I was rethinking my list lately and I'll probably amend my list minorly as the pinned comment. Not a grandiose shift in how I view the game, but enough differences to warrant some swapping around.
The only thing I would contest is Teddy's placement on the list. He is in my opinion much better than Yosuke. Yosuke can heal and cast Masukukaja at the same time, but it's only a medium heal and Masukukaja ist the weakest of the buffs. Meanwhile Teddy can buff the team's attack and debuff the enemy's defense, which is a net increase in DPS that cannot be understated. In fact, aside from the MC, he is the ONLY party member that has debuffs. That alone would secure him a spot on my team. But even better than that, his role as a healer and supporter means that Yukiko can go full steam the whole time. cycling Matarukaja and Marakunda, especially now that you can refresh them before they run out, he arguably does more damage than anyone else.
I use Yosuke, Chie, and Yukiko. Yukiko's a good healer and magical attacker, Chie has strong physical skills, and Yosuke is a good balance of physical attacks and magic, he can Masukukaja the party and can dispel enemy buffs.
I'm wondering if mind and particularly power charge may be overrated because 1) the attack can miss and you will have wasted 2 turns and hp/sp, 2) rise can charge up the party after used meaning a wasted turn and sp, and 3) may be missing out on extra physical crit chances. I think consistent damage, versatility with turn usage, and allowing a different useful skill to slot in is better.
Rise’s charge actually stacks with the base charge, a characters hit can increase with the help of buffs and debuffs, critical hit chances is more like a bonus unlike 5 you can’t really do it for definite
Idk why this video got recommended to me now, but here's my team : - Clearing wave : Yu, Yosuke, Yukiko, and Naoto (you can replace Naoto with Teddie if you want to build elemental team) - Boss fight : 1. Yu, Yosuke, Kanji, Teddie (Heat riser for all, since Yosuke learn Masuku, Kanji learn Mataru and Teddie learn Maraku) 2. Yu, Yosuke, Yukiko, Teddie (Yukiko could focus on attacking with mind charge and burning petal, while Teddie and Yosuke could support the team by healing, buffing and removing enemy buff, and also do some damage) 3. Yu, Yukiko, Chie, Naoto (Chie to spam dragon hustler and Naoto to spam shield of justice with chakra ring, while Yukiko do some damage and healing when needed) 4. Yu, Kanji, Chie, Yukiko (Yukiko for healing and Kanji + Chie do crazy amount of damage with power charge. My opinion : Yosuke and Yukiko is OP in this game. Yosuke learning dekaja and Yukiko having the best healing and magic skill make them both must have for your team. Naoto with Hama and Mudo skill make clearing wave a lot easier, and don't forget Naoto also learn Megidolaon and mind charge to farm golden hand. Teddie is actually good if you want Yukiko to focus on attacking, i mean he has buff and healing like Yukiko, and don't forget he also has a better bufu skill than Chie. Chie and Kanji kind of okay I guess, I mean Chie has Apt pupil and dragon hustler which make her better than Kanji, since you don't need to put omega drive for your accessories and Kanji is good in boss battle since he learn primal force, which has the highest damage in single target physical skill compare to god's hand, combine it with omega drive and power charge, you can see some of those damage to bosses.
Great video man! Your pacing and editing was super well done! I actually found you off TH-cam Studio's "Your Viewers Also Watch" and I'm glad to see my small community has lead me here. Keep up the great work man!
My Tier: S: Rise, Yukiko A: Chie B: Teddie C: Yosuke, Naoto D: Kanji My opinion is based on the party member's ability to go through dungeons and fighting bosses. The S tier is pretty obvious. Chie is much better than Kanji in terms of dungeon crawling because she has aoe damage skills even though Kanji hits bosses harder. Teddie can learn marakunda and matarukaja which are really helpful. Yosuke is jack of all trades but master of none, he has everything but they are kinda meh. With Naoto, I have to choose between going for Mind Charge build for bosses or going for the cleaning mobs build with Mamudoon/Mahamaon
i ran yukiko, chie, and naoto/kanji for pretty much the whole game. i’m honestly pretty surprised at chie and kanji being in last, they were really powerful with super strong phys skills and charge for me. i might have my perspective skewed though because i never really leveled yosuke or teddie past lv 50 when everyone else was at lv 99.
that is the thing i love the most about persona 4, every party member is useful in their own way, in the end i tend to change them around for different battles and dungeons, but man, i gotta love my team of yukiko, kanji and naoto, yukiko healing and doing massive amounts of damage, kanji buffing attack and debuffing hit while also doing insane amounts of damage with power charge and decent amounts of ziodyne damge while naoto absolutely destroys every random battle.
The characters are at their most complete when they've learned all their skills and have all their options, which happens during endgame. Furthermore, I think it makes for a more effective video when I show what I'm talking about. Ex: When I speak on how Kanji outdamages Chie in endgame, or how some key bosses resist physical, or talking about the 3rd evolution skills, I'm gonna show these things. The video was made for people who have played the game, so why be concerned about spoilers(which I warned about just in case).
My endgame team (for bosses mainly) was Yukiko/Yosuke/Teddie. Yukiko is the best healer and causes mass destruction alongside Yu. Yosuke does good damage, has the agility buff and the always useful Dekaja, plus he provides some healing. Lastly, Teddie buffs attack/defense and can be a good secondary healer when best girl is too busy incinerating the enemy. For the very final boss though I switched him with Chie mainly because of her Dragon Hustle, it came pretty handy.
My Tier for Play : 0. Rise : Navigator 1. Yukiko : Simple, Healer 2. Naoto : because she has Megidolaon for Hand Enemy, and Shield of Justice for boss and Reaper 3. Chie : AOE physical attack, suitable for hand enemies. can combo with Yukiko and have Insta-Kill except for bosses. 4. Kanji: Single physical attack, suitable for bosses 5. Yosuke : Bro..not bad. everyone loves Yosuke.. best to play outside so he doesn't get hurt. 6. Teddy: just for fun, random unique moves. Healer but prefers Yukiko.
Kanji even though most of his skills are tied in physical it’s far from useless. Kanji has the ability to deal massive damage to bosses that are knocked down. Also kanji can buff the entire party’s attack and debuff all enemy’s accuracy and evasion. I’m level 60 with kanji right now and he was able to hit 800 damage fighting that optional boss in naotos lab. Any boss that can be knocked down in some form kanji can just waste most of its hp as long as he’s got his power charge ready available at rank 6 of his social link. I see so many people saying they never use kanji and I don’t know why. He’s got the physical dps chie has minus the fragility. I even bought this thing off the shopping channel called the red battle suit which reduces melee damage against kanji paired with his triple evade for wind skills it makes him an insanely strong tank.
I really like this video but in my opinion the biggest flaw is the individual strength vs the team synergy. This is because the fact that the mc pretty much gives good synergy if you choose your personas right. Teddie for example gets far outclassed once you use a persona with all auto-mataru auto-maraku and auto-masuku. The point I'm trying to make is once the mc gets better personas, team synergy really stops mattering. So with that in mind the list I personally make is this. Teddie (gets outclassed by mc) Naoto (only really good for grinding also gets outclassed by mc) Kanji (powerful physical stats) Chie (outclassed kanji with strength and agnyastra, gods hand, and power charge) Yosuke (jack of all trade) Yukiko (rediculosly powerful magic) Rise (yeah support is busted) MC (if done right easily can support an entire team while out damaging an entire team) If the MC wasn't in the equation, I actually would agree since team synergy would be far more important. However once you do bring the mc into the argument, team synergy becomes less important in place of raw output of damage due to the mc's ability to be the best support and the best damage dealer in the game.
While I understand your point, I feel like the MC should almost always be on DPS duty unless the situation is dire since they have the highest DPS potential of the group. In your example, Auto-Everything would only last for 3 turns. After that, who’s gonna manage buffs and debuffs? Teddie can keep the party doing max damage with a cycle of Matarukaja, Marakunda, and healing while everyone else attacks. This allows MC and the party of your choice to focus on DPS as you please, which is why team synergy is important to me regardless if the MC is in the equation.
Yeah I can see that I still think you can do both with the right choice of persona but I guess it comes down to different ways to play As an aside I'm genuinely curious to see how you will do this for Royal. The sheer strength and flexibility of the mc honestly makes the argument apply more to Royal (apart form team synergy which I worded poorly). Furthermore apart from haru (she's not bad just hard to fit the way i play) you now build your team to have a almost laughable amount of strength. Like if you want a physical build (mc, ryuji, yusuke, Kasumi or makoto). Or if you want a magic build (mc, ann, makoto, morgana).
I feel like at some point I'll probably have my hand forced to make a video of this for other Persona titles, with each game having their own set of quirks and such that'll make it much harder to compare than in P4. In P4, even the last party member has at least 3-4 dungeons for you to get some great use out of them. I cannot say the same for everyone in every other title(except P1/2). Couple that with traits in Royal which will make things SUUUUUPER tricky, AI in P3/FES vs Portable's party control, and then the giant can of worms that is P1/P2 people all being able to use multiple personas but each character has different affinities with each persona, and yea I got my work cut out for me lol
Honestly, the best part about Rise isn't even what she can do. It's that she does it without interfering with your action economy. Like, if all she could do was Media(rama) and the full party -kaja skills, she'd still be contending for best party member *specifically* because you really can't compare what she offers to anyone else in the party.
I agree with all.... But for me personally Chie was goated when I used her because I ended up maxxing her out very quickly so she just gained a permanent spot on the party as a physical DPS. (Physical and Allmighty are my favorite types of damage)
maybe it’s because i was over leveled for the last couple palaces but chie is my personal mvp. she deals a crazy amount of damage and when i am going through regular battles she can kill most shadows in one hit. i’ve never had a problem with her going down either. usually yukiko is the first to get downed in battles for me
I'm the type of person who tried to keep everyone at around the same level when I first went into the game, but my A-team started rearing its head more and more as I got further into the game, and on my second run I stuck entirely to this A-team Chie and Kanji were easy picks for benching bc at the time, I still undervalued physical stats as a whole, like, in all of Persona. So as someone focusing on magic, I was underwhelmed by Kanji's low SP and the fact that Chie doesn't learn the strongest ice skills like Teddie does. On the other hand, Yukiko would act as my main healer w/Divine Grace and Teddie as a backup healer, with both also excelling in fire and ice damage respectively, so they were easy picks for my A-team. Yosuke probably could've stayed as the jack of all trade, but like you said, he kind of gets outclassed by Naoto in that regard, and Naoto is pretty busted in Golden so she was also an easy pick.
My main problem with Persona 4's party system is that the characters won't level up based on the overall level of your party. In final fantasy 7, for example, if you don't play with some characters but want later on they will be only a few levels lower than your main party, making the grinding less boring. I only played through the game with Yukiko, Chie and Kanji the characters that interested me the most, but when I got Naoto, I thought on switching them, but since she was lv50, while my mains were around 70, I just didn't bothered. I don't really like grinding in Persona 4.
If we just need to kill Boss quickly, then Yukiko, Kanji and Chie as a team can deal so much damage, granted the boss is not Marie stage 2 that repels physical. MC starting with auto mataru, maraku, and masuku and debilitate (trumpeter) definitely helps. Though Chie has a big gap of level up by 23 levels before she got her end game skills. But support definitely belongs to Yosuke, Teddie and Naoto. Naoto just had to many good skills which is really hard to decide her build.
For me I’d my best team was Yosuke, teddie and yukiko. I switched chie in and out. And although kanji and naoto are my favorite characters I wouldn’t develop them enough. Teddie always gave easy buffs and was too easy to grow as well as Yosuke and yukiko. I’d also like to nominate rise as the absolute beast of a navigator. Futaba is definitely one of my favorite characters but I’m pretty sure she never was THAT consistent as rise is.
dude, you can farm golden hands with chie and yu and get to level 99 on like 3 hours easily, i did it on my first save, dragon hustle is broken, sp doesnt matter, you have items that give sp anyway, so you can actually spam it and kill everything super fast.
and using a chakra ring on her isn't wasted provided you aren't using both Naoto and Yukiko, especially Naoto since Yukiko practically never loses her SP unless you're either actively trying to or aren't focusing on SP preservation enough
In vanilla P4, I had Yukikko knock off 800 HP off the final boss with just a fire spell. 10% damage right there. Sure, I might have overgrinded somewhat .... but pretty good for a supposed healer xD
My party for the last third of the game was yukiko kanji and naoto, yukiko is a great healer, naoto is an all rounder, and kanji has a huge health pool so he can do some big physical attacks while keeping a lot of health and can still use his elec attacks
i used kanji yukiko and naoto to finish the game. overall very solid list, honestly I would probably swap teddie and kanji just due to the amount of space u can cover in terms of support. even in late game kanji’s magic did wonders for me, idr if I had any equipment buffs but he stuck with me through the entire run, only struggling to mitsuo
I used Yukiko, Kanji, and Teddy. I didn’t have any guide, I just used who I liked. I was smart enough, however, to level up Rise’s confidant without a guide lol She is amazing
my Final Party is Chie, Naoto and Teddie. Chie for Physicals, Naoto for Megidolaon and Teddie for Debuffs. I had a dilemma of replacing Yukiko with Teddie, tho Teddie after getting Samecarm and Mediarahan then I Swapped Yukiko out since Teddie can do heal and debuffs, also Yukiko's high SP isnt really that useful considering that Rise can recover 10% of SP per battle.
My list: 1. Yu (kind of a no duh, he can do whatever you could possibly want with him) 2. Rise [free stuff in a series infamous for its brutal turn economy (less so than its mother series, but still), also protection from lethal for the whole party and free one-time Yu revive are omegalol, only real thing you can say kinda sucks is it's a bit random when she gives the free stuff, but it's often enough that she definitely trivializes most of the challenge this game has to offer] 3.Yukiko (Mediarahan, Amrita, her Agi spells for most of the game, and Burning Petals for True Endgame are all she really needs to be a dominant character throughout the game, but while she has insane DPS, since she herself isn't the sturdiest bunch, there may be times where she's forced to stop her DPS) 4. Yosuke (A jack-of-all-trades that can really do it all, though he suffers from the problems of being one, but is still very much a universal team pick, especially for True Endgame with Youthful Wind) 5. Naoto (access to Megidolaon and both AoE instakills makes her the best Golden Hand farmers not counting a Yu with Megidalaon and/or double AoE IK himself, but comes very late into the game and, by nature of her moveset, is not the best for bosses) 6. Chie (of the two physical-oriented characters, Chie is weaker against bosses, but is much better in dungeon crawling thanks to access to AoE and the best follow-up attack in the game with Galactic Punt, and dungeon crawling comprises about 90% of your time inside the TV, though Dragon Hustle is a bit overpriced relative to her SP pool, but hey, Beads and Bead Melons exist) 7. Kanji (basically a bosskilling version of Chie, and as I've said, most of the game isn't bosskilling, though he has absolutely insane damage against bosses) 8. Kuma (Teddie) (if Yu doesn't get to switch Personas for free, I'd rate him higher, but the fact Yu can literally switch from DPS to Support with a few button presses makes Teddy pretty redundant, especially when Yukiko can simply sub him out for Amrita/Mediarahan and Yu can either temporarily act as a medic when Yukiko herself is inflicted with turn-stealing debuffs, or as a team buffer if somehow none of his Personas can deal more damage than the rest of the party, it doesn't help he has the worst Ultimate Skill in the game, which is basically a one-in-two chance to get absolutely fucked because lmao your luck sucks fuckers) but hey tf do i know
My problem with Teddie is I can often throw a support persona on Yu that had better skills than Teddie for most points of the game, and why would I use a party slot for setup every 3 turns when Yu can just setup and switch back whenever I need it.
Because you can use that first turn to mind charge/power charge. Teddie buffs, you charge, Teddie buffs, you attack, Teddie heals, you attack, and then repeat.
I've played a lot of Persona 4 Golden so here are some of my thoughts: I tended to use Chie in dungeon encounters because of her crit chance and the fact that Kanji for some reason doesn't get a good physical move that hits more than one enemy besides The Man's Way I guess which is unreliable as hell. Prefer Kanji for boss fights tho for the reasons you stated. Tbh though I have no idea why Chie's magic skills got handled the way they did because I wasn't gonna take her on bike rides for Bufudyne and I also wasn't gonna keep Bufula when she was high-level so I just turned her into pure physical with crit stuff Yukiko has always been my go-to healer/mage and I didn't use Teddie for a long time because of that. I started mainly also using him in random dungeon encounters because he has Marakunda for tough enemies and golden hands and he's pretty good for that. I never really used him in boss fights Yosuke has always been a go-to member partially because I like him and partially because Dekaja and Masukukaja/Youthful Wind are helpful in both normal encounters and miniboss/boss fights. Naoto is weird. Like her moveset is really deep but actually I think in some ways (similar to Haru in P5) that kind of makes her harder to use. No matter what you do, you won't be taking full advantage of all the skills she gets, so you kind of have to pick and choose with her in a way that you don't have to with any of the other party members which feels like you're limiting what she can do but there are only so many moveslots for her. I guess similar to Haru they wanted something to set her apart so they gave her unique damage skills (almighty/light/dark) while also giving her the magic skills that other party members already get plus a bunch of stuff that seems cool in theory but is kind of hard to use in practice due to limited moveslots (physical/magic reflects, mudo/hama boost, shield of justice, invigorate, vorpal blade) Also yeah Rise is busted. She saved my ass so many times in the NG+ boss fight. Her skills are tooooo good
chie's ice magic are really only used to expose weakness not really used to deal heavy magic damage so you may as well not care much about the ice boost
my final party are yosuke naoto and yukiko they're the best, i keep chie as main party before naoto join for tarukaja, revolution, and of course galactic punt
and only use teddy (remove yukiko) for fighting margaret bc he have evade physical for hassou tobi, 30% magic damage reduction on ultimate weapon and same weakness as yosuke so i don't worry about her elec attack get repelled by yoshi if either one died. i don't have other purpose on him bc he's useless and annoying for me.
Chie’s gameplay can best be described as “get in, beat up the enemies, and get the hell out” Chie, while not being the best party member, still has things that make me prefer her over Kanji. While she doesn’t gain access to many ice skills thanks to Teddy sapping them away from her (thanks you dumb bear), biking with her 5 times you get bufudyne, and that shit hits like a freight train if you’re willing to keep ice boost. I also think the preference between Kanji and Chie is similar to Payday 2 with tank builds and Dodge builds. Do you want more damage and health at the expense of having low accuracy and low evasion (Kanji), or do you want less health and slightly less damage in exchange for much higher accuracy and evasion. If you want pure bulk, Kanji is definitely the way to go, but if you wanna roll the dice with dodging so you can land your attacks more reliably, Chie might be more suited to your needs. Since I use Yosuke who can also increase his and Chie’s already high evasion, I find Chie to be more just slightly more efficient than Kanji. This is all from the personal experience of a guy who only just finished his 2nd playthrough, so take it with a grain of salt, but I do find Chie more helpful for my personal style of play
Funny, my main team was Kanji, Chie, and Yuki. smoked the game no problem. I didnt bother using Naoto because she came so late in the game. When I do another run 20 years from now im gonna use the benched heroes
commenting before watching the video, but On my first playthrough of p4g my main team by the time I had everyone was Naoto, Teddie, Kanji. I was a bit stupid and got rid of hama/mudo on naoto so naoto was mainly used for megidolaon and knockdowns. Shield of justice also kind of carried me through the final boss because I was severely underleveled. Kanji was there for physical damage and because he just had the most hp. Teddie was there for buffs and healing. I didn't have any sort of strategy in mind when picking these, they're just the characters I liked the most.
I dont know how, but something Rise dis in my game was she would MAKE the enemies weak to what we have, unless all of them are weak to every skill, that is REALLY op lol.
my final build was Teddie, Yukiko (my girlfriend dont touch her dont look her) and Naoto. It was funny cuz even tho my party members boost their stats a lot and charge and stuff, The protagonist with Wind amp and Garudyne was my main DPS
Bruh Chie at the bottom!? She gets what is essentially Luster Candy! Also yeah she's a physical attacker, but a REALLY strong one! She's usually a staple in my runs.
My team was yosuke yukiko and kanji for a while, swapped kanji for teddie just before the naoto dungeon, yukiko is easily the best fighter and yosuke is amazing for support and damage
I think that the P4 golden cast was one of the most balanced parties. You could make an argument for every teamcomb and even members like Yosuke, who are considered to be early game focused, can have their purpose. Even in the late game. On my first playtrough, I made Naoto into the perfect dungeon unit where I could destroy the random encounters with ease. On another playtrough, Yosuke allowed me with his "I am good on everything but perfect at none" kit to make the main MC as a sec damage dealer and melt every boss with ease.
Just to tell, once i unlocked Teddie he never left my party. In fact for a few battles, he overtook my protagonist, which i wonder how did he do that in the first place.
Thanks for all the comments and support y'all! It's been really fun reading all of your different thoughts and reasonings for why you would have different characters higher or lower, the new perspectives are definitely a treat to hear. Really just goes to show how balanced the game is party member option wise :)
Over the months since this video, I'm not sure if I'd change much of this.
Well it's called plot for some reasons
To be honest If you ask who's the best navi between fuuka, rise, and futaba
I'll answer Rise is the best one, not because of gameplay but it's because how she support us with her cheering, she literally boost team morale easily than fuuka and futaba which they just simply compliment them while rise is like a hype woman or something like that
I mean it's more like a KO in 4. Persona Q is the game where party members die.
@@stevenr9975 of the three fuuka best feats are range based she can literally keep track of the entire party and scan enemy from the bottom of Tartarus to the top wich is crazy and a lot further than any other scanner has even come close to
I saw an hour long video ranking every party member in all the persona games based on them as people and how useful they are in battle and Rise was in middle cuz her skills aren't that useful and quote, "she gets jealous if the protagonist sneezes in the direction of a country that has a woman in it"
That last point was fair tho
Lmao same
My final team is Yukiko, Naoto and Kanji.. Kills the final boss way too fast to the point healing isnt even needed..
@@1phantomedge I usually carry yukiko chie and naoto

@@alcoop74 nah this team comp goes hard lol
@@alcoop74 I also used them but on very hard and it's excellent
Same for me, though I switched Kanji for Teddie for boss battles
same! i always tell myself ill switch it up this run. but then i get too attached to yukiko, then i invest too much time into kanji, then i remember how op naoto is..... the only thing stopping me from doing a run with the complete opposite team comp is that i got used to relying on yukiko way too much 😭😭
kanji jumps from D to A the moment he learns power charge, THE DAMAGE DISHES ITSELF (also having matarukaja and extra magic helps)
Though like chie he lacks synergy and is self reliant which may cause problems when paired with a yoshitsune MC
@@forrest7393 isnt vh identical to hard for damage stats tho
@@mouthwide0pen it is indeed
When paired with Yosuke who can raise that evasion, the two can dodge just about anything. Their synergy is surprisingly potent
@@jcplays5831kanji has masukunda as well.
Yukiko is a beast, really handy during the entire game, healing and then fire amp + fire spells. Agree with your list in general.
I dropped Yukiko the instant I got Teddie as a party member. Yukiko ended up being my most neglected party member and she was way behind on levels.

No.
@@Honest-King Yes.
New Game+ time?
@@PaladineAvenger1 I don’t really agree but I think you made good points anyway so I respect your opinion.
I’m not gonna lie I skipped through this video to see if Yukiko was at the top (YOU DIDN’T LET ME DOWN!), I feel like people don’t give her her dues enough because they don’t like her as a character when she’s undeniably an EXCELLENT party member, she was carrying my team the whole way through
I’m only a *bit* biased cause she’s my favourite girl also haha
Same thing happens to Rise with people not acknowledging how good she is, although I guess if somebody disliked her enough to not do her social link, they also wouldn’t reap all the great benefits of her as a navigator
Like Yukiko is so good it’s a problem, like you said in the video you don’t want her to be healing at the end cause she does such great damage
…which is where Rise always seemed to come in clutch with the heals and the buffs!
Mind Charge + Burning Petals and Power Charge + Hassou Tobi and BOOM! The boss is nowhere to be found.
this is a great video! really well researched! love your stuff!
WAIT SEANIE?? I'VE WATCHED THIS VIDEO LIKE 47 TIMES AND JUST FOUND OUT YOU COMMENTED.
Bro… Chie punted a boss out of the arena in the first round. She was forever best girl after that. 😂❤
1) Yu (of course)
2) Yosuke (Most versatile party member.
He has Ice skills, but Chie already has those plus good physical skills, he supports, but Chie, Kanji and Yosuke can do that as well and his physical attacks are lacking.)
Bonus rank) Rise: She's not a real party member but she's probably the most useful besides the main character
@@PaladineAvenger1 just focus yukiko on damage, teddie buff is the best
@@PaladineAvenger1 it is possible to use both and not having them compete for the them role, if you build teddie as an ice mage with the buffs (and just throw in the revive and status spells if you have room) then he can give out support yukiko won't have this allows sp depletion to be shared more equally which can be issue if teddie ends up doing everything and can burn up way to quickly even with the chakara ring

LEGENDDDDDDDDD thank you for the recognition
Hey, I'm playing my first run, I'm in junary already but how do you get the +10 magic? I only got the +10 strength in adachi's dungeon
Ah hah man off culture
How? Last I checked, Rise was #1.
@@js1031 Yukiko. It's Yukiko. Rise is just annoying.
@@Apocalypso64 Yukiko is the definition of cardboard. Rise is best girl, fight me 🥊
@@js1031 Both are good.
We shall watch your career with great interest. But for real tho keep up the good work
Didn't know Kamui Miracle could do so many things! You learn something new every day, great video :)
List adds up, as I never switch out Yosuke, Yukiko nor Naoto. Only two downsides to this roster:
1) No team up attacks.
Good insight !
My dream team is Naoto, Kanji, and Yukiko. I usually make up for what the other members lack, so it ends up being pretty well rounded. Maybe there are better party combinations out there, but I haven't found it yet.
Having yukiko on your team makes this game too easy
Yukiko, Naoto, and a maxed out Rise make P4G a joke. We're talking walking destruction.
@@js1031 thanks for pointing that out, I’m going to play my second run without them (except of course for Rise) to make it more challenging.
Mediarahan momen
Just gonna say this here but Chie and Kanji really carried me in the Margaret boss fight
I'm glad someone realizes how broken Rise is, just another reason she's best girl
God please have mercy....
Shes the worst party member as a charachter

Slot 2 kanji or chie
They are both easily the best physical dpsers in the game on top of both having their own style of magical dps
Chie excels at landing critical hits while kanji excels at dps per turn when it comes to physical attacking both are very useful when killing golden hands.
My goto team is Chie, Yukiko and Kanji on pretty much every playthrough.
Agree, chakra ring dragon hustle chie too op
You didn't see Macross as I suppose...
It’s mostly for her being a “voice of truth” her navi support is based around that
I like having Yosuke on my team cuz I'm a dumbass who forgets to bring support personas and dekaja is awesome
I cant wait for you to cover other megaten games after this, great vid
Idk why this video got recommended to me now, but here's my team :
- Clearing wave :
Yu, Yosuke, Yukiko, and Naoto (you can replace Naoto with Teddie if you want to build elemental team)
- Boss fight :
1. Yu, Yosuke, Kanji, Teddie (Heat riser for all, since Yosuke learn Masuku, Kanji learn Mataru and Teddie learn Maraku)
2. Yu, Yosuke, Yukiko, Teddie (Yukiko could focus on attacking with mind charge and burning petal, while Teddie and Yosuke could support the team by healing, buffing and removing enemy buff, and also do some damage)
3. Yu, Yukiko, Chie, Naoto (Chie to spam dragon hustler and Naoto to spam shield of justice with chakra ring, while Yukiko do some damage and healing when needed)
'preciate the high regards, thank you!
My Tier:
S: Rise, Yukiko
A: Chie
B: Teddie
C: Yosuke, Naoto
D: Kanji
My opinion is based on the party member's ability to go through dungeons and fighting bosses.
I have to say that I agree 👍 💯
With naoto you can use both, it’s more possible to make her useful with the mob trashing topped with a support based game plan for bosses
i ran yukiko, chie, and naoto/kanji for pretty much the whole game. i’m honestly pretty surprised at chie and kanji being in last, they were really powerful with super strong phys skills and charge for me. i might have my perspective skewed though because i never really leveled yosuke or teddie past lv 50 when everyone else was at lv 99.
Why did I only get this recommended now? Cool content man! Def subscribing
that is the thing i love the most about persona 4, every party member is useful in their own way, in the end i tend to change them around for different battles and dungeons, but man, i gotta love my team of yukiko, kanji and naoto, yukiko healing and doing massive amounts of damage, kanji buffing attack and debuffing hit while also doing insane amounts of damage with power charge and decent amounts of ziodyne damge while naoto absolutely destroys every random battle.
Of all the possible fights, I'm glad you decided to add one that contains major spoiler 👌
I mean it said "spoilers ahead" at 0:43 idk what you expected
I know, but I still see no point why that footage needed to be shown. The spoilers could have just been about the party members
My Tier for Play :
0. Rise : Navigator
1. Yukiko : Simple, Healer
2. Naoto : because she has Megidolaon for Hand Enemy, and Shield of Justice for boss and Reaper
3. Chie : AOE physical attack, suitable for hand enemies. can combo with Yukiko and have Insta-Kill except for bosses.
4. Kanji: Single physical attack, suitable for bosses
5. Yosuke : Bro..not bad. everyone loves Yosuke.. best to play outside so he doesn't get hurt.
6. Teddy: just for fun, random unique moves. Healer but prefers Yukiko.
Rise 🙌
Teddie (gets outclassed by mc)
Naoto (only really good for grinding also gets outclassed by mc)
Kanji (powerful physical stats)
Chie (outclassed kanji with strength and agnyastra, gods hand, and power charge)
Yosuke (jack of all trade)
Yukiko (rediculosly powerful magic)
Rise (yeah support is busted)
MC (if done right easily can support an entire team while out damaging an entire team)
If the MC wasn't in the equation, I actually would agree since team synergy would be far more important.
Yeah I can see that I still think you can do both with the right choice of persona but I guess it comes down to different ways to play
As an aside I'm genuinely curious to see how you will do this for Royal.
Couple that with traits in Royal which will make things SUUUUUPER tricky, AI in P3/FES vs Portable's party control, and then the giant can of worms that is P1/P2 people all being able to use multiple personas but each character has different affinities with each persona, and yea
I got my work cut out for me lol
Honestly, the best part about Rise isn't even what she can do. It's that she does it without interfering with your action economy. Like, if all she could do was Media(rama) and the full party -kaja skills, she'd still be contending for best party member *specifically* because you really can't compare what she offers to anyone else in the party.
I agree with all.... But for me personally Chie was goated when I used her because I ended up maxxing her out very quickly so she just gained a permanent spot on the party as a physical DPS.
(Physical and Allmighty are my favorite types of damage)
I ended up kanji, Chie, Naoto. Yukiko was an alternate but I found that I made the Hero a way better healer and attack mage than she could ever be
Yukiko being in the number 2 spot is highway robbery.
maybe it’s because i was over leveled for the last couple palaces but chie is my personal mvp. she deals a crazy amount of damage and when i am going through regular battles she can kill most shadows in one hit. i’ve never had a problem with her going down either. usually yukiko is the first to get downed in battles for me
I'm the type of person who tried to keep everyone at around the same level when I first went into the game, but my A-team started rearing its head more and more as I got further into the game, and on my second run I stuck entirely to this A-team
Chie and Kanji were easy picks for benching bc at the time, I still undervalued physical stats as a whole, like, in all of Persona.
The reason for that is because back up party members gain exp, just a small amount.
Chie + Apt pupil + the accesory that gives crit chance is really good. She has High counter too.
Chie can be quite nice if you throw a chakra ring on her and get Bufudyne from maxing out her Bike rides.
and using a chakra ring on her isn't wasted provided you aren't using both Naoto and Yukiko, especially Naoto since Yukiko practically never loses her SP unless you're either actively trying to or aren't focusing on SP preservation enough
I really like yosuke BC youthful winds just helps a ton
my Final Party is Chie, Naoto and Teddie.
My list:
1. Yu (kind of a no duh, he can do whatever you could possibly want with him)
2. Rise [free stuff in a series infamous for its brutal turn economy (less so than its mother series, but still), also protection from lethal for the whole party and free one-time Yu revive are omegalol, only real thing you can say kinda sucks is it's a bit random when she gives the free stuff, but it's often enough that she definitely trivializes most of the challenge this game has to offer]
3.Yukiko (Mediarahan, Amrita, her Agi spells for most of the game, and Burning Petals for True Endgame are all she really needs to be a dominant character throughout the game, but while she has insane DPS, since she herself isn't the sturdiest bunch, there may be times where she's forced to stop her DPS)
4. Yosuke (A jack-of-all-trades that can really do it all, though he suffers from the problems of being one, but is still very much a universal team pick, especially for True Endgame with Youthful Wind)
5. Naoto (access to Megidolaon and both AoE instakills makes her the best Golden Hand farmers not counting a Yu with Megidalaon and/or double AoE IK himself, but comes very late into the game and, by nature of her moveset, is not the best for bosses)
6. Chie (of the two physical-oriented characters, Chie is weaker against bosses, but is much better in dungeon crawling thanks to access to AoE and the best follow-up attack in the game with Galactic Punt, and dungeon crawling comprises about 90% of your time inside the TV, though Dragon Hustle is a bit overpriced relative to her SP pool, but hey, Beads and Bead Melons exist)
7. Kanji (basically a bosskilling version of Chie, and as I've said, most of the game isn't bosskilling, though he has absolutely insane damage against bosses)
8. Kuma (Teddie) (if Yu doesn't get to switch Personas for free, I'd rate him higher, but the fact Yu can literally switch from DPS to Support with a few button presses makes Teddy pretty redundant, especially when Yukiko can simply sub him out for Amrita/Mediarahan and Yu can either temporarily act as a medic when Yukiko herself is inflicted with turn-stealing debuffs, or as a team buffer if somehow none of his Personas can deal more damage than the rest of the party, it doesn't help he has the worst Ultimate Skill in the game, which is basically a one-in-two chance to get absolutely fucked because lmao your luck sucks fuckers)
but hey tf do i know
My problem with Teddie is I can often throw a support persona on Yu that had better skills than Teddie for most points of the game, and why would I use a party slot for setup every 3 turns when Yu can just setup and switch back whenever I need it.
Because you can use that first turn to mind charge/power charge. Teddie buffs, you charge, Teddie buffs, you attack, Teddie heals, you attack, and then repeat.
I've played a lot of Persona 4 Golden so here are some of my thoughts:
I tended to use Chie in dungeon encounters because of her crit chance and the fact that Kanji for some reason doesn't get a good physical move that hits more than one enemy besides The Man's Way I guess which is unreliable as hell. Prefer Kanji for boss fights tho for the reasons you stated. Tbh though I have no idea why Chie's magic skills got handled the way they did because I wasn't gonna take her on bike rides for Bufudyne and I also wasn't gonna keep Bufula when she was high-level so I just turned her into pure physical with crit stuff
Yukiko has always been my go-to healer/mage and I didn't use Teddie for a long time because of that. I started mainly also using him in random dungeon encounters because he has Marakunda for tough enemies and golden hands and he's pretty good for that. I never really used him in boss fights
Yosuke has always been a go-to member partially because I like him and partially because Dekaja and Masukukaja/Youthful Wind are helpful in both normal encounters and miniboss/boss fights.
I guess similar to Haru they wanted something to set her apart so they gave her unique damage skills (almighty/light/dark) while also giving her the magic skills that other party members already get plus a bunch of stuff that seems cool in theory but is kind of hard to use in practice due to limited moveslots (physical/magic reflects, mudo/hama boost, shield of justice, invigorate, vorpal blade)
Also yeah Rise is busted.
Chie’s gameplay can best be described as “get in, beat up the enemies, and get the hell out”
Chie, while not being the best party member, still has things that make me prefer her over Kanji.
Right. I’d take a “glass cannon” who I can rely on to actually hit rather than a slightly stronger party member who misses half the time.
On another playtrough, Yosuke allowed me with his "I am good on everything but perfect at none" kit to make the main MC as a sec damage dealer and melt every boss with ease.
i never used yosuke in my entire playthrough. i just stomped through anything in my way with yu/chie/yukiko/kanji lmao
Yosuke and Yukiko stayed on my team
But...You are forced to use Yosuke for the first 2 dungeons.
@@benja-tp1sp well yeah except for that, but i got rid of him as soon as i could
Just to tell, once i unlocked Teddie he never left my party. In fact for a few battles, he overtook my protagonist, which i wonder how did he do that in the first place.
@@alatsus This was my team as well! Mostly because i really like Kanji, Chie and Yukiko :)
Yukiko is the goddess of this game like Akihiko is the god of P3.
She is just to broken
