Isn't it possible to get it connected to Home Assistant directly (no cloud) via the Homekit Integration? I don't have anything CrApple but as far as I know this is possible with the likes of the Aquara FP2 without needing a CrApple device.

Home Assistant does have the Homekit Controller integration, which you could use to control this device, but being that there's functions I can't enable in Apple Home already, it's probably not going to be a great experience.
There's a couple of Meross Custom components, so I'll be trying one of those out
