Do you think there is any way to change the double tap? One tap to turn it ON, one tap to turn it OFF, and double tap to change the color, it would make much more sense that way. I am constantly changing the color by mistake instead of turning it off.
I've been having some issues the last week or so with the MSL 450 and it seems to have been around the same time as - and possibly linked to - some Wi-Fi/Internet Instability but reconfiguring it made it all come good again. Generally if anything is acting weird, the first thing I do after rebooting everything is reset and re-pair the accessory.

I have the msl420, home assistant and the app has lost access to it yet I can still control it via home kit! Been problematic lately.
