My gas heater pilot was 'popping' and flickering and occasionally went out stopping the whole heater. I flipped open the duct to the fan and used a vacuum and microfibre duster as it was pretty caked in dust. I also saw 2 dust plugs in the 2 air holes to the pilot and used a tweasers to remove as had no readily available compressed air. The heater is working sweet now. Thanks for the video. This heater has been problematic for months and it took 5 minutes to service.
This helps me out tremendously! Thanks for posting this video! My pilot light will come on as long as I hold the button down but it is a very small flame. As soon as I let go of the button, the pilot light goes out. I’m going to try everything you suggested.
Mate, great vid, it's just gone winter here in Australia and my dusty LPG heater has been brought out of a dank and horrible environment and will not stay lit. I think you have given me the advice I need, thank you !
I have 5 burners across my heater, all glow orange except the farthest left. It just has blue flame coming up it. Will doing this cleaning help this issue?
9/10 times a good cleaning will solve your woes. Sounds like the air/fuel mixture is out of wack. Probably due to some clogs. Give it a go! Thanks for watching.
When I tried to light the gas wall heater that also has a plug in it started smoking and sparking from the outlet plug in. This system has been turned off for a very long time so i just gave up
It really depends on how long it's been off. The longer it's been off the longer it takes to get gas to the pilot. It's a good idea to attempt to light periodically while manually holding the valve open. Hope that was helpful. Thanks for watching!
Probably a bad burner, orifice or gas pressure. I'd start by looking at the actual orifices and burner ports. Sometimes they get a stubborn clog. Sometimes the burner inlet gets cobwebs in them too.
@MyLegacyGarage surprisingly enough it's working now. It started doing the popping noise once after I relit, so I turned it down nd it cycled how it was supposed to. Then once last night it began doing it, but I turned it down and it stopped. Besides those 2 incidents its working good now, just now sure why it had a few times where it began popping again, thoughts?
@@theoedwards1977 probably air in the line from being off all summer. The popping is from improper fuel/air mix which is usually caused by burner, air shutter or orifice obstruction. Glad to hear it's up and running!
@MyLegacyGarage is there a video to show me to how to check those things? I'm not much of a handy man, but im trying to figure it out. It began doing the popping noise again earlier.
@@theoedwards1977 I haven't made one but you may be able to stumble across one on TH-cam somewhere. I would recommend you do the service call and watch exactly what the tech does.
It sounds like either your gas control is junk or it has gotta outta wack. There is a cog gear under the gas control knob as well as a locating pin. I have seen where somebody tried to force it and it jumps that pin. Usually u just have to force it back and it'll work ok. The locating pin is spring loaded so it helps if u push it down with a small screwdriver and then turn the knob. Hope that all makes sense. Good luck and thanks for watching!
It should cut off within a minute. If it doesn't then the safety valve in the gas control is bad and it needs a whole new gas control or more likely the heater needs replaced. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
Can u please tell me if all gas heater have thermostat. I bought an older Rainni Tropic REH-30DT-P . To turn it on or off it dont have numbers on the nob it is turn to high or low. I am trying to understand if flame will out at any time or it will stay light all the time that it is on. Thanks for ur help
Not all heaters have a tstat. Some are simply off and on while others control btu output with a high and low. Most small heaters, like for a bathroom for example, do not have a tstat. The model number you gave should have a tstat. That's what the t in dt after the model number means.
I can only run my heater on the lowest setting. if I turn it up to 3 or 5 heating elements the pilot light gets smaller and the heater shuts off. Any ideas?
$90 isn't too bad for a service call. There is a lot of overhead for service companies, lots of training and insurance is outrageous. Still though, saving $90 sure would have been swell. Lol. Give it a go yourself next time. Thanks for watching!

Excellent explanation, and unusually clear/understandable. I’ve just spent $75.00 to have the gas company do this! I subscribed.
Glad to have been able to help! $75 is cheap by the way. $150-200 is more the norm.
😂Great instructions!!! I have turned on the propane line under my wall heater. Now to take front off and start cleaning.
Get it going!

Wall outlet is just for a blower. It's not necessary. Just unplug it and fire the unit up after a good cleaning.
How long do you wait to light it?

When i try to press the ignition button it wont click? I was wondering if you could help me
Sounds like it probably needs a new battery. Make sure when you change it that the new one is in there the right way. Thanks for watching!

What causes gas to keep flowing when pilot goes out

Sounds like a pressure problem. New install? Kink a line? Have a regulator going bad? Running out of gas?
@@MyLegacyGarage Thanks! Maybe a kink in the line. Had a small leak over the summer, gas company came and tightened the shut of valve.
Unfortunately I just paid $90 before I watched this video... they blew out the pilot line for $90...Wow! good video though
