My heat has been acting up for days! The pilot would not stay lit. I cleaned the heater and tried everything. On one of the coldest nights here where temps are 18 degrees, it kept going out! I came to TH-cam and found you guys! I followed your instructions about the thermocouple. I didn’t have an air pressure torch or anything, I used a straw and blew really hard in the line. 😂afterwards I saw the flame connected like the one on your demonstration and I said thank God! I’m hoping it stays for me. Thank you for this video! I was looking really hard to find my heater type on here . God bless and thanks again!

Our air source heat pump died leaving us with 2 gas fireplaces as back up. One of them was having issues with the pilot flame being too small and the adjuster screw did nothing. After blowing it out the pilot light w/30 psi air, the fire starts up in 5 seconds vs 2 minutes, the screw works, and our fireplace doesn't explode as much. Really appreciated.

Thank you for showing a close up of everything!
Others have the camera set on a table or similar, way back. Frustrated, I almost gave up
I have a 5 panel plaque comfort glow that wouldn't stay lit the end of last season right before spring. I cleaned the thermo coupler etc. Worked great.
I turned it back on this month and it still worked fine but, problem started again.
I noticed that the pilot flame was weak after I opened the casing and got a whole lot of debris, cob webs....out. the intense heat causes the inside powder coating to flake off over time. It gathers down into the guts of the heater
I didn't know what the heck happened until I watched your video.
I have a blue flame comfort glow that I put in so I could have some heat until I figured out the problem. It doesn't heat as well as the radiant plaque model does; it uses more gas. It's not as efficient as the radiant model.
    Long post, my apologies.
I noticed the air inlet when I had everything opened.
I'll bet I got something on the pilot opening because that flame was extremely smaller than usual.
    It all makes sense.
I'll follow your tips now that it's disconnected.
Very grateful. This heater is 16 years old and has heated my old house pretty well.
    I do have a question.
I noticed that the double sided tape that holds a thermostat end, got old and came off.
Does it attach to the case?
I figured that flopping around in there might send a signal to the pilot light assembly at the top of the heater.
The long copper wire from this thermostat, goes into the pilot light assembly, too.
No kinks or anything. I don't know where I should glue the piece that it snaps into.
It's just like the inside of my window unit a/c, that snaps into the inside cooling fins behind the filter.
If you need more information, I can try to describe better or take a photo of it and send to you in a DM

Dude! Needed this video SO BADLY! Thanks for this info.
One question: the pilot on my Mr. Heater comes on with no problem; when the knob is turned to actually light the burners, the pilot goes out. At first, the burners would "flash" ignite, meaning the burners would light but for like a split second, and then the pilot would go out. Eventually, like I said, the burners wouldn't light at all and the pilot would go out ONLY after the knob is turned to light the burners. As long as the knob is not turned, the pilot stay on. Any thoughts?

Unfortunately it could be a number of things. At this point might be best served to have a tech take a look at it.

I would love to do this but i cant get to the dang pilot. Its a buck stove gas logs and i cant figure out how to get the cover off🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ super annoying. The manual says nothing, just to remove it. Not helpful. I JUST paid a fortune to fill my tanks so affording a technician isnt happening. BLAH

Tackled a bunch of bolts and metal plates and got it done! Pilot lit and on yay!
