Heeeey! I resent that "peg warmer" remark! Lol. Crystal Ball is actually one of my favorite obscure figure's. He always reminded me of Vincent Price and now I see that I wasn't crazy, all these years later! Great review... thank you
I look back & so many of my childhood toys were pegwarmers, haha. Cheap @$$ parents! But I loved CrystalBall, the bird guy from Cobra, Grunt, Zap & so many other of the toastiest of peg-sweaters. GoJoe! CrystalBall for life!
Thanks for the Crystal Ball review. Still anticipating Raptor, Law(and Order), Budo, Repeater, Lightfoot, and Voltar. I smell those reviews coming soon.
I got him in a haul of '87 figures but didn't really know what to do with him until I read about the Mad Monk Rasputin. That's when my Crystal Ball became Cobra Commander's personal seer and advisor.
I remember getting him, Zanzibar and Chuckles one day back in 88. Years later there was a funny skit in a magazine that supposedly showed the desk of Cobra Commander. Aside from a bunch of other silly things there was a picture of Crystal Ball with a Post-It note on it that said “FIRE this moron!!!”
He's cool looking but he's kind of a blank slate. I only remember his once in the comics, when he's introduced along with a bunch of other new recruits. It turns out they were all part of a plot against the Joe team without knowing it, but they all became the heroes of the story and Hawk recruited them personally afterwards. Chuckles was the member of that group of recruits who did most of the talking.
I’m wondering how Hasbro would adapt him into their more high-tech G.I. Joe Classified line. I’d personally attach his hypno thing onto his body in some fashion, like maybe his chest or forehead (kind of like R6S’ Jackal’s headset)
That's what I always did, though my Crystal Ball was a psychic advisor to Cobra Commander and too valuable to piss away on missions or the battlefield.
Gi Joe lost its luster in my opinion after 1986. I started collecting as a child when my brother and I received the whole 1982 lineup for Christmas. I was 5 at the time. Then in 1987 it Seriously started down hill.
Still a few good figures and concepts in '87. Falcon, Tunnel Rat, Outback, Gung-Ho, and Chuckles are solid figures. Psyche-Out and Big Boa looks ridiculous but a psy-ops expert and Cobra drill instructor are certainly useful.
I stopped collecting figures after the 1990 run. I hated how much they changed so many characters that already looked cool how they were and went with all these bright neon colors.
I remember reading The Tommyknockers back in the day and I always wondered why the GIJoe figure Crystal Ball was specifically name-dropped. I never found the character particularly compelling, but I like hearing about his backstory nonetheless.
Crystal Ball! Awesome Jesse! Great in-depth story. I'm glad you got around to him. Would like to see video's on Airtight and Crank Case.

Raptor?
Waiting on my Crystal Ball Classified Series figure.
I appreciate the obscure gi joe figures. Thanks for the backstory!
Crystal Ball has always been one of my favorite characters. :D
Dope, as always! Keep these obscure Cobras coming man! Big Boa next or soon? That was one of my favorite figures.
Thanks for the Crystal Ball review. Still anticipating Raptor, Law(and Order), Budo, Repeater, Lightfoot, and Voltar. I smell those reviews coming soon.
Crystal Ball was NOT a pegwarmer to me! I bought him!

Despite all the flack he got I thought it was awesome that Vincent Price made it into the Joe toy line.
I used to have this action figure
I had the Crystal Ball figure hah. Always thought his figure and story sounded strange
RIP Sir Sean Connery.

Sounds like a Toyfare comic strip

There was a 3D GI Joe comic by Blackthorne that had Crystal Ball i it.
I wonder if you could get Stephen King to sign the file card at a book signing?
why do I think Crystal Ball looks like Dr Stephen Strange
He looks like Dr Strange mixed with Kraven the Hunter.
Crystal ball the morph of gi joe. Who's morph? Exactly. Maybe that stretch Armstrong villain was inspired by this guy.
Stretch came out before him. More likely Plastic Man or Metamorpho.
I use to have this guy Crystal Ball never knew he was created by Stephen King, I knew he fuckex with Dredknocks and Zartan, Jinx was a female ninja
Could we get a video of scarface or throwdown (sean collins)? 😁
11:00. Or just give him one from a accessory set?
That's what I always did, though my Crystal Ball was a psychic advisor to Cobra Commander and too valuable to piss away on missions or the battlefield.
Ultimate peg warmer. 💯
Thanks for the info
Looks like Dr. Strange
I like to pose crystal & raptor armed with pistols.

Leatherneck should be your next video

When did I unsubscribe?
I'm not sure but I hope you found your way back!

Awful figure. Sneak Peek was bad too.
