  • Hello one and all and welcome to another Flat Earth Friday where today we take another look at Joey Rocha, who is adamant that all globe proponents are in an intellectual coma.
Thanks to Fight the Flat Earth for helping out!
Let's see why he thinks that...
    Here is Joey's original video:
    • Video
Here is Fight the Flat Earths channel:
    / @ftfeofficial
See you all on Tuesday where Flat Earth Focker is back but not for Flat Earth reasons!
Dan's opinions shared in this video are supported by verified facts (whether scientific or general) and they should be treated as just that: opinions. All critique and humour are addressed to the words and actions of individuals and not to the individuals themselves, under the Act of Free Speech.

A scientist puts a roach on a table, tells it to walk, and it does. Then he pulls a leg out of the roach, tells it to walk, and, with a little difficulty, it still does. Then he pulls another leg, and another leg, tells the roach to walk, and, with increasingly difficulty, it walks. Finally, the scientist pulls off all the roach's legs, tells it to walk, but it doesn't. The scientist then concludes that a roach without any legs can't hear. That's how flat earthers think science.

I live in Honolulu. I've stood on the shore of our island and looked out at several of the other islands that are visible from here. In no case can I see the SHORE of the other islands. I can see the mountains, but never the shore. I've even climbed to the top of Diamond Head Crater, and even from that high elevation, I cannot see the shore of the other islands. This fellow clearly just makes things up and has never actually gone out on the shore and taken a look. So, he's downright lying.

The Devil is in the details and given that a lot of them think they’re good Christians I think they have to avoid the details or go to Hell. JK
But some of them really do say the globe Earth was created to separate people from God.
It’s possible that their attachment to the idea of flat Earth is so strong in some cases that any and all contradictory information might necessarily be discarded as falsehoods.
Combine that with their apparent deficits in spacial reasoning then they’ll probably prefer to believe anything reframed to support their position.
Non-religious types probably have similar reasons for accepting flat Earth on emotional grounds rather than scientific ones. Hence the idea that the sky is a giant plasma display and anything projected there is part of the lie and can be conveniently ignored.

Every single one includes this phrase in their argument. I'm kinda interested if there are non-christian flat Earthers (probably not, never heard of one) and if there is at least one will this person use his religion in the explanation. Like what would a Buddhist say? Weird thing to wonder about but at this point, the ''well, now it's just ridiculous' and went way too far'' point, I just can't help it.

    • @TheLuckySpades
      @TheLuckySpades 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Jrez spherical and hyperbolic trigonometry exist and are rather interesting analogues to classical trig that arise when studying the angles and areas of geodesic triangles on curved surfaces
Geodesics basically are the analogues to straight lines, they are basically what you would get if you stood on the curved surface and started walking in what would feel to you straight line.
In spherical trigonometry of note is that the sum of the angles of such a triangle will be greater than 180° as the sphere has positive curvature, in hyperbolic it will always be less than 180°, in both cases it depends on the area of the triangle (see the Gauss-Bonnet Lemma for these claims)
Similarly you can define analogues for the law of cosins and such, though in the hyperbolic case they will involve hyperbolic trig functions as well as the usual trig functions
