For me the definition of slow burn is when two characters are introduced to one another and they have a LOT of screen time (or lot of pages in a novel) together. It's when you see there's something between the characters from the very beginning, small things like the way they look at each other, the way we see them as viewers/readers how close they grow. It can sometimes start with disliking one another when they meet or immediately getting on (like SuperCorp) and we see them getting closer throughout time. Kara met Lena in season 2 and ever since then Lena has clearly been part of of Kara's life. What another thing slowbirn does is angst and we got that in spades with SuperCorp. The way their story has been written, acted, all the parallels with Clois too (there are a lot!! Someone made a video). Both have great chemistry with each other and allowing them to be together after everything they've been through, seriously it would be so good! And it would pay off for everything they've shown between the two!!! Having Kara with William would make no sense. We clearly were shown how both Kara and Lena care for one another, when they were at odds, they were always thinking of the other (be it in a positive or negative way). I so feel your frustration. I've been through it with another ship that had so much potential if it had been made canon, and it was so frustrating and painful to watch at times. And even though in the very end one of the creator of that show said that it had been a love story, it still was not enough... At least we always have the very talented people in the Fandom with fics, fanarts and fanvideos.
I don't know if you have ever seen Agents of Shield, but there was an agent and a woman named May. Now they were shipped since Season 1. Had so many scenes together, and finally (spoiler) in S5 they made them cannon. THAT is a slowburn. Just like Kara and Lena. Like you stated, slowburn takes periods of time! And your exactly right.

You would have to be blind to not recognise the chemistry between Kara and Lena. In So. Many. Scenes. There’s this underlying sexual tension (in my opinion) between them. I totally get if a show doesn’t want to go down a certain way with a relationship but they are definitely queerbating supercorp which is really sad and unfair for people in the LGBTQ+ community because representation is so frickin important. If they don’t want supercorp to happen then fair enough they can do want they want with their show buttttttt they NEED to stop teasing a relationship that will “never” happen.
@King Redblade no but the thing is they are, you can even look at certain parallels in scenes with Lena and Kara which are almost exactly the same as other couple scenes in the arrowverse and in supergirl. For example in the flash iris says to Barry “the flash may be central city’s hero but you Barry Allen are mine” and in supergirl Lena says to Kara, after filling her office with flowers I might add, “ supergirl may be the hero of national city but Kara Danvers you are my hero”. This is just one example of the many times there has been something that is more than platonic shown between Lena and Kara, it just seems a bit unfair because as a member of the LGBTQ+ community I know what it means to have queer representation in shows and when queerbating happens in a show it can sometimes feel like they don’t fully understand that they toying with people a bit.

And as for your other point about the “proper” way to do an LGBTQ+ relationship, I do disagree, because there’s no set in stone way in how any relationship should be, whether it’s heterosexual or homosexual, I don’t think I’m “forcing” any sexuality on any characters at all, and not everyone knows exactly what their sexuality is straight away, it can take different amounts of time for different people to understand their own sexuality so it’s not a case of knowing you’re bisexual or lesbian from the start. But there is undeniable chemistry between them so it’s not a stretch at all to “ship” them together. And people can ship who they want together regardless of what’s canon and what’s not. However as for your other point about it being “strange” to discover your sexual identity at 30 or at any age, I strongly disagree, sexuality is fluid and can change for some people, for others it may not but people can discover and understand their own sexuality at any age, if someone who has been identifying as straight their whole life realised at 70 that they were gay that’s totally fine and it doesn’t matter what age people discover their sexual identity, we as humans are constantly growing and learning, so it’s not really strange to also learn new things about yourself through the new experiences. And a character’s sexuality doesn’t define them whether or not Kara is straight or gay or bi or pans or anything she may want to identify as, it’s not problematic because it ultimately does not change who she is as a person.

This is again a situation if people seeing what want to see. Instead of seeing the situation for exact what it is. Also the reason why i say its problematic of both Kara and Lena to figure out their orientation so late is because Supergirl's story isn't endless. This show will eventually come to an end. So its better to define a character orientation early ( as the did with Alex ) compared to later in the show. This allows the showrunners to properly create a roadmap for the character and where they want to take this character when it comes down to romance. Sure it doesn't always reflect real life but this isn't real life. So at the end of the day it all comes down to taking the bait or not taking the bait. Both Kara and Lena will stay friends but both actresses will continue to have chemistry with each other. That is not something that's going away. The only thing that can change is how YOU and the rest of the Supercorp fans view this chemistry.

After Crisis, William's character was just redundant. No disrespect to Staz cause he's an awesome guy, but seriously, they just changed who he was investigating from Andrea to Lex and it was pointless. The stuff with Russell was pretty much resolved even though it didn't end well for his and Andrea's relationship, but still, after that, William's plot was pretty much wrapped. Post-Crisis, he could have been completely absent and it wouldn't really have changed the story one iota. ANY of his scenes (besides the Superforced nonsense) could have been taken by Nia or Kelly. The partnership with Kelly and William could have been Nia and Kelly or even just Kelly on her own. Neither would have needed him to prop their characters. And get Lena some fucking therapy! Holy shit! Just the fact that she believes "tiny boxes" are a good idea to deal with her feelings is a huge red flag for her on top of all that verbal and emotional abuse! Repressing feelings and never acknowledging them is a HORRIBLE idea.
Honestly, just make Kara and William FRIENDS!! Their friendship throughout season 5 made waaaaaay more sense then those forced “romantic” scenes. FFS, will Kara and another guy character EVER just be friends without the forced moments??!!
Any male friend that she's had has also had romantic feelings for her except for J'onn. He's more of a father figure to her. They move on eventually but still.

The situation going on with Supergirl/supercorp is eerily similar to OUAT/SwanQueen. They were romantically coded in the show(the music,the looks, everything revolved around them,they even co-parented a freaking child!!)paralleled with all the "true love" couples,had dramatic ass hope speeches to each other, the showrunners threw the first available men at them, except one of the writers had the balls to say SQ would never happen,but she was fired right after. Even after that the fans had hope,because of the showrunners baiting. The thing is,they said all the time that SQ was best friends,but they hugged maybe 2 times in show😩 and that's the thing I feel like sq and sc has in common, the show says they are best friends,but you never see it no? Instead it's this tension and hesitation and care and understanding that you never see them show other characters🤷♀️

I think the writer should put Eve and William as a couple rather than Kara. I love Kara to be single for awhile and gave her a love interest when the SG will end. Others still only watch it so they know whats going on for arrowverse crossovers, and other like me are watching it because its arrowverse/DC comics and they are comic/DC fans that just enjoy superhero/comic book stuff regardless of how "good" it is (I myself have every season of every arrowverse show so far on dvd XD) and want to watch every episode of every show in it

Sometimes it would be better if some of the adaptations did not exist at all. Because it's just a nightmare. But I must say, they sometimes try to do well (if they even tried to do something before that, lol). Say Freedom Agent, in the beginning he had good motivation, good beliefs, and an interesting story. Lex is just mean, but interesting to watch. And so with many villains (sometimes heroes (They are just empty, especially secondary. And they change them every season)). But after the first steps, everything again slides into the trash. you get tired point your finger at everything. I personally watch this series to see how NOT to do it.
ugh okay I need to voice my opinion too .. I don’t watch supergirl anymore and I tell you why: the writers don’t write for their characters. They constantly put plot over character development. While Oliver and Barry (the leading characters on Arrow and The Flash) had one very steady love interest over most of the series, Kara gets 4 “romantic” scenes with a man every year (exclusing Mon-El from that but that was a whole other mess of writing) instead of giving her a solid love interest even though they’d have one (I mean Lena is literally RIGHT THERE). You know what that makes Supergirl look like? As if a woman can’t have it all. As if Kara wasn’t allowed to be in a steady relationship bc she’s supergirl. But male superheroes can? I mean Superman is with Lois, but Kara has to be single forever? And then you give her 4 scenes with some nee guy and it’s called romance?! Why can’t you just give her a real love story AND let her kick some superhero butt? That doesn’t mean it should revolve around her love life (season 2 I’m looking at you), but it should get a place in her life. And I don’t mean one stupid date, I mean a REAL EMOTIONAL CONNECTION! You don’t even have to cast someone new for that, Lena is RIGHT HERE. okay, rant over.
I agree with you that the writers don't write character development. They can barely write emotional depth at all. Our wonderful actors usually pull that out of scenes themselves. They need to stop with the season THEMES and just write a show about Supergirl.

I agree with you. We saw a lot of Nia last season, but in this season we saw nothing about her, just one episode focused on her, but that was it. You're right, people watch this because of Katie, she's the best.
I have found the undeniable difference between their relationship not being just friends. It is simple, but... the fact that they don't talk about their love interests. And when they do there is an obvious NOT FRIENDLY undertone reaction or response... or some way to make it look as their reactions are for some other reason... Like when she ask Supergirl if she knew Kara was dating Mon-el, her expression. Or when she looked at Mon-el weirded out when he came back from the future, but never talked to Kara about it. When she went to ask her for help with Jack, her ex. When she was at danger and she ask her not to see him. And the weirdness of the dinner intervention. When she felt guilty about Mon-el's departure... but they never talked about it. About her feeling for him or nothing related. When Sam asked Kara if she was seeing anybody, Lena literally was seeing Kara... and she instantly looked down kind of ashamed (They tried to make it look as that was a look of guilt from Lena, but gurlll... contexttttt, supercorp fandom going wild out there... but we make those takes and way of editing anyways) When she went to talk to Kara about James, she didn't even talk to her... directly. And then at the gym, Kara threaten in a playfull way that she will kick hir ass... I mean... dude... what are we playing here? The forced "chemistry" scene (that still hurts my memorie as it hurted my eyes when i saw it) the one where Sam tells Lena she feels something for James... (and then comes Kara right after the "can't date your boss... oh cause that never happened before" right after, gosh) And Kara tells her in a forced cheerie way that they have chemistry... Meanwhile Lena denying it...(that was reckless writing) Right after Kara tells both that she wouldn't have healed if it wasn't for them.... Dude, who the f$%k is Sam in Kara's life at this point, like really... Anyways... There's countless times... where Nia talks about Brainy with her friends, or even Kara talked about her love life with her sister and with Nia... but not even once with Lena. Not even once they have acted like bffs talking about their love interests, like here and there. Chatting bout their feelings for someone... (just once Lena did something like that with Jack, her ex being in town) Kara and Nia do talk, even Kara and Winn... Let's be honest, Kara talks with almost everyone about deep feelings and love interests... but not with Lena... Why is that if not to built tension between them? At first they talked about relationships with family and that was too much to handle i guess...
So, Im not a Kara/Lena shipper, BUT I completely agree. My favourites are Kara, Alex and Lena - the actresses and actors have always been the saving grace of this show but the writing has always been TERRIBLE. I have NEVER enjoyed watching Kara’s “romantic” relationships. I think it’s because they put her with male characters who have no vulnerability or are flawed in a off-putting way. In any case, the romance is not the only problem with the writing on this show. Lolsss

The characters are more and more out of character as the show runs. The supercorp relationship is getting worse and complicated through the season. Honestly I don't even know what the characters are like anymore.
Have you seen Legends of Korra? The writers said as the show continued on, it felt natural that Korra and Asami would end up together. I thought thats what was happening with Kara and Lena. It just naturally works! What's his nuts was barely in the show. I forgot all about him after Crisis until he popped back up.
I decided not to watch the show anymore, it got boring and the only person saving it is Lena, I dont see the point in giving the writers what they want by keeping watching the show just bc of supercorp, I mean, if they don't stop teasing us with supercorp or if they dont make it canon then I won't see it anymore, that's it.

they aren't... they are trying to paint Lena as a literal second sister to Kara. If you compare their scenes to those of Alex and Kara they are VERY similar in tone... Yet no one says Kara and Alex (someone is actually a lesbian in the show and has no blood relation or official adoption relation to Kara) could be a thing.. Yeah it's stupid writing since the amount of time they've known Kara is so drastically different, but that is what the writers decided to do when they saw how much love Lena's character was getting (she was originally meant to be a Big Bad since they couldn't use Lex at the time cause of the movies). They even tried to make this SUPER OBVIOUS in season 5's last episode when they had Alex and Lena say the exact same lines at the same time about Kara...

I've read that article too, we had the same reaction. I could've the bought James and Kara back in S1 but they trash James. The thing I like about Supergirl back then is the sisterhood, they could've explore Nia and Kara (Hero and her protege), the Dansen, Jon being a father figure, they should'nt feed on SuperCorp if they don't it want to happen in the first place.
I started watching Supergirl in december 2016, and I was hooked right away. I even got a tattoo that says "be your own hero" because that's always relevant. But season 5 was so disappointing, and when I read this... I. Am. Done. They made me hate my favorite show. They made me want to get my tattoo, that once held meaning, lazer removed. And I've decided to delete my Twitter app, because the negativity started to infect my daily life. Trust me, I am not looking forward to another season of forced relationships and drama crap. And honestly... I don't even think I'll start watching season 6. Looks like a waste of time and happiness.
They genuinely are disrespecting Lena like William is a good character but come on the scenes that he is in are so irrelevant and are just out there specifically so his character isn’t left out and Lena is a season regular and she barely has enough screen time with the importance she has on the show it’s so crazy how he can come in and immediately get more scenes than she’s had the whole season
The writers did this to themselves. At first is was just shipping for the fun of it but the writers decided let's give them teases . Basically queeerbaiting, had us all riled up on the false hope. Then wanna undo everything cause they realized they in deep shit. Like I honestly don't care if kara and willy wonka date. As long as my queen is there I'm a simp for her. I'm just glad they're friendship is starting to get back on track. I have said this before on twitter..but Whnever I watch any show I always respect the actors and the writers, and if a ship isn't going to happen I accept it and move on.. however when it comes to this the writers are actually beginning to irritate me, and that's hard to do as I always like to give them the benefit of the doubt. When it comes to Lena and Kara I have simply adored them together for a few years, and - again - the writers are beginning to irritate me.. They seem to make something look a certain way in order to attract more view's which is wrong and isn't going to end well soon. At first I thought I was seeing things, until I noticed a pattern which happened over and over again which didn't sit well with me... I've been writing for a while, and I'm not an expert on the subject as I'm self taught. I haven't been to school since I was twelve and due to the learning difficulties we were unaware l had I didn't learn anything when it came to grammar and spelling-- so, due to not having a tutor I decided to teach myself everything I know.. After the few hundred followers I gained I learned to listen to my audience, however also not to pine to them either. I learned that I had a responsibility to the audience/readers I had and I didn't wish to disrespect them or mislead them. If they thought a storyline with characters was going a certain way, I'd tell them immediately that it wasn't instead of allowing them to get excited over something that wouldn't happen. So with that in mind I wish the Supergirl writers would just say "we're not going to do it" like the Once upon a time writers did and be done with it. People will understand, however if they keep teasing people they're going to lose even more views than before. They need to stop messing people around so much, it isn't fair to anyone, including their actors because there are over the top fans out there who WILL attack the actors verbally and that's not fair at all. For example: I absolutely loved Emma's and Regina's relationship during ONCE, however I never sent hate toward them or kicked off, I accepted that it wasn't going to happen and appreciated the friendship the writers managed to create between them instead. I wasn't happy with how some fans treated Jennifer Morrison. If the writers in Supergirl would quit messing around instead of trying to be dramatic or trying to get views they'll find themselves having a larger audience.. Personally I like meaningful storylines that grip you.. This season didn't grip me other than my hope that things will become better.. One thing I dislike the most in any show is where writers will randomly put characters together when it clearly doesn't work.. Kara and William is so forced like how Lena and James were and it makes me cringe.. Calling them "slow burn" couldn't be further from the truth. I did, however, think that Lena and Jack worked, I liked their banter and it seemed to flow between them easily. But of course you remember his fate. The good pairings they have in the show usually end up getting either ruined or neglected. If they don't wish to go ahead with it, I'm fine with that. However what I'm not okay with is baiting your audience knowing you're going to give them false hope. If the actors themselves are not comfortable with it then I'd completely get it that way too and wouldn't mind. If the writers were straight with us from the beginning instead of messing people around things would be different. It would've showed respect for their audience and the reaction wouldn't have been bad.. they've put themselves in a horrible situation due to baiting people for views... If they say straight up now "we don't want to do it, and we won't" I won't kick off and I will accept it, however due to how they've been playing it for years, ESPECIALLY this season people are going to be angry.. they have no one to blame but themselves. It may have been unintentional at first, but to repeat it over and over and for the scenes to become more intimate than the last, that is no longer an accident.. They know exactly what they're doing. Like I said before as soon as your audience gets an idea and have hope and you notice it, SHUT IT DOWN and tell them straight- DON'T lead them on and use it to gain views. Even people who don't like Supercorp can see that William and Kara just do not work.. They don't.. I never say this as I don't wish to cause drama or any hate.. I am not about that.. But I know that if Lena were a man, they would've put them together during season 3 or 4, I bet my money on it. Fair enough, they didn't know at the start that Supercorp would become what it has.. However, again, to repeatedly bait people is not an accident and completely intentional, at first it would've been accidental, but after a while.. There's no way it's accidental. I wish they'd just be honest.. It isn't the fact they won't do it that bothers me, it's the dishonesty.. And forcing characters together that clearly don't work.. I'm only watching it for Katie at this point.. I LOVE the other characters, but the writers aren't giving them the attention they deserve. I've watched Katie since she first appeared in Merlin back when I was eight or nine. I am now turning twenty. Katie puts so much into her characters and she's aware of the other actors in the room and uses it to her advantage. She's very observant and seems to delve deep into her characters in order to understand them better. That's what makes her a good actress. It's in the minor details, like when Lex yelled at her and she flinched back, just in that little movement and reaction it tells you how much abuse Lena has endured by Lex and her whole family. Katie did that intentionally because she delves deep into the characters she plays. Morgana you felt sorry for her despite all of her wrong-doings due to how Katie portrayed her. I saw a lost broken woman whom allowed rage and anguish to consume her- she became the person she feared and Katie expressed that so well. If Katie leaves the show I think the show will end. Thank you, Adam, for not leaving any hate towards anyone. You use your platform to express your opinions respectfully even when you're agitated. Thank you for doing this, I completely agree with everything you said.
Lena made the anti-kryptonite costume for Kara to protect her identity and put her life on the line to protect her as well. Here comes tvline and Jay to credit Willian for the feat that Lena did for Kara. This is devaluing Lena and public . Unacceptable
Kara's only ever had romantic chemistry with Cat Grant's son and Mon-El. They could've kept Mon-El after the whole thing with Imra was done but well, that didn't work out for reasons I will not get into at the moment. Also, I think A LOT of fans walked away from the show after Mon-El and Wynn left. I say that because I'm one of them. The Reign season was the last good season SupergiRl had, in my honest opinion. Kara and Lena do have amazing chemistry but I personally am just unable to see it as romantic. I do think it could be developed as such but as it stands, I see it as a deep friendship between people who had everything to become enemies but chose to walk a different path, together. Eh, the bit with Superman&Louis and Kara and Lena is a bit of a stretch in my opinion. They could've chosen other colours and Lena would still have worn them at some point in the season. As for the fight for Lena's soul title, it doesn't necessarily mean it's other people fighting for her soul but maybe all of them, including herself. The back and forth between Kara and Alex in regards to Lena makes sense to me because battles are rarely "consistent", you win some, you lose some; enemies today and allies tomorrow. I get where Supercorp fans are coming from and I do agree that the writers play on that particular side of the fanbase's wishes but I also think a lot of fans take it too far as though the show is obligated to act on it.
In season six i want kara to go on a date with william and realise its not him she wants and runs/flies to lenas apartment to see her running down the stairs to stop their date bc they love each other.
I think that they are not putting Kara and Lina in a relationship is because, historically, Supergirl was never gay or bisexual. If they suddenly made Kara gay then it would cause a riot with the Supergirl fandom and cause the show to tank. The comics were not gay positive when Supergirl was introduced and those people who read Supergirl from the get go would be up in arms if Supergirl was suddenly gay (this is from the purists). The writers know this and that is why they are only hinting to keep the Supercorp fandom happy or in your case frustrated.
As someone who also ships Supercorp and also doesn't like contrived romance stories, I wonder how big "Supergirl's" Supercorp audience is compared to the rest of the viewership. Supercorp fans might be passionate and more active on social media, but is that the best way to measure the whole "Supergirl" audience? For all we know, a less vocal majority of the viewers might prefer to see Kara in love with a man. So, it would be good to know - with concrete numbers - how large the Supercorp audience is compared to the show's audience as a whole. If it's not that big, we could better understand the show's reluctance toward a Supercorp storyline. And I get the idea that if the show (miraculously!) decided to give Kara and Lena a romantic same-sex relationship, the top brass at both Warner Brothers and DC would need to sign off on the idea. P.S. Re: Lena's burgundy-colored costumes - Perhaps her most striking (and butch) outfit of Season 5 was her burgundy three-piece suit (with slacks!). So, compared with Lena's other burgundy-ish clothes (such as her "kombucha" coat), I think the idea that Lena's costuming might be co-ordinated with that of the super-significant-others is well taken.
Avalance was a slow burn cause it took like 12 episodes to even start and they kept breaking up then getting back together and then one would get kidnapped and now they both are dead💀💀💀

For me the definition of slow burn is when two characters are introduced to one another and they have a LOT of screen time (or lot of pages in a novel) together. It's when you see there's something between the characters from the very beginning, small things like the way they look at each other, the way we see them as viewers/readers how close they grow. It can sometimes start with disliking one another when they meet or immediately getting on (like SuperCorp) and we see them getting closer throughout time. Kara met Lena in season 2 and ever since then Lena has clearly been part of of Kara's life. What another thing slowbirn does is angst and we got that in spades with SuperCorp. The way their story has been written, acted, all the parallels with Clois too (there are a lot!! Someone made a video).
Both have great chemistry with each other and allowing them to be together after everything they've been through, seriously it would be so good!
And it would pay off for everything they've shown between the two!!!
Having Kara with William would make no sense.
We clearly were shown how both Kara and Lena care for one another, when they were at odds, they were always thinking of the other (be it in a positive or negative way).
I so feel your frustration. I've been through it with another ship that had so much potential if it had been made canon, and it was so frustrating and painful to watch at times. And even though in the very end one of the creator of that show said that it had been a love story, it still was not enough...

You would have to be blind to not recognise the chemistry between Kara and Lena. In So. Many. Scenes. There’s this underlying sexual tension (in my opinion) between them. I totally get if a show doesn’t want to go down a certain way with a relationship but they are definitely queerbating supercorp which is really sad and unfair for people in the LGBTQ+ community because representation is so frickin important. If they don’t want supercorp to happen then fair enough they can do want they want with their show buttttttt they NEED to stop teasing a relationship that will “never” happen.
@King Redblade no but the thing is they are, you can even look at certain parallels in scenes with Lena and Kara which are almost exactly the same as other couple scenes in the arrowverse and in supergirl. For example in the flash iris says to Barry “the flash may be central city’s hero but you Barry Allen are mine” and in supergirl Lena says to Kara, after filling her office with flowers I might add, “ supergirl may be the hero of national city but Kara Danvers you are my hero”. This is just one example of the many times there has been something that is more than platonic shown between Lena and Kara, it just seems a bit unfair because as a member of the LGBTQ+ community I know what it means to have queer representation in shows and when queerbating happens in a show it can sometimes feel like they don’t fully understand that they toying with people a bit.

The relationship between Alex and Kelly is a proper way to do a LGBTQ relationship because it involved two characters who have been defined as either bisexual or lesbian from a very early stage and Kelly was a completely new character introduced. And as for your other point about the “proper” way to do an LGBTQ+ relationship, I do disagree, because there’s no set in stone way in how any relationship should be, whether it’s heterosexual or homosexual, I don’t think I’m “forcing” any sexuality on any characters at all, and not everyone knows exactly what their sexuality is straight away, it can take different amounts of time for different people to understand their own sexuality so it’s not a case of knowing you’re bisexual or lesbian from the start. I’m not sure that you’re fully understanding my original comment, I don’t like the fact that they are queerbaiting that is all, like I said before it’s their show so if they want to have Kara and Lena as just friends, then that’s totally okay and I’m on board with that, but if that’s the case then they need to stop queerbaiting the supercorp relationship, you even said yourself that it’s “bait”. However as for your other point about it being “strange” to discover your sexual identity at 30 or at any age, I strongly disagree, sexuality is fluid and can change for some people, for others it may not but people can discover and understand their own sexuality at any age, if someone who has been identifying as straight their whole life realised at 70 that they were gay that’s totally fine and it doesn’t matter what age people discover their sexual identity, we as humans are constantly growing and learning, so it’s not really strange to also learn new things about yourself through the new experiences. And a character’s sexuality doesn’t define them whether or not Kara is straight or gay or bi or pans or anything she may want to identify as, it’s not problematic because it ultimately does not change who she is as a person.

Also the reason why i say its problematic of both Kara and Lena to figure out their orientation so late is because Supergirl's story isn't endless. This show will eventually come to an end. So its better to define a character orientation early ( as the did with Alex ) compared to later in the show. This allows the showrunners to properly create a roadmap for the character and where they want to take this character when it comes down to romance. Sure it doesn't always reflect real life but this isn't real life.
So at the end of the day it all comes down to taking the bait or not taking the bait. Both Kara and Lena will stay friends but both actresses will continue to have chemistry with each other. That is not something that's going away. The only thing that can change is how YOU and the rest of the Supercorp fans view this chemistry.

After Crisis, William's character was just redundant. No disrespect to Staz cause he's an awesome guy, but seriously, they just changed who he was investigating from Andrea to Lex and it was pointless. The stuff with Russell was pretty much resolved even though it didn't end well for his and Andrea's relationship, but still, after that, William's plot was pretty much wrapped. Post-Crisis, he could have been completely absent and it wouldn't really have changed the story one iota. ANY of his scenes (besides the Superforced nonsense) could have been taken by Nia or Kelly. The partnership with Kelly and William could have been Nia and Kelly or even just Kelly on her own. Neither would have needed him to prop their characters.
And get Lena some fucking therapy! Holy shit! Just the fact that she believes "tiny boxes" are a good idea to deal with her feelings is a huge red flag for her on top of all that verbal and emotional abuse! Repressing feelings and never acknowledging them is a HORRIBLE idea.
Honestly, just make Kara and William FRIENDS!! Their friendship throughout season 5 made waaaaaay more sense then those forced “romantic” scenes. FFS, will Kara and another guy character EVER just be friends without the forced moments??!!

The situation going on with Supergirl/supercorp is eerily similar to OUAT/SwanQueen. They were romantically coded in the show(the music,the looks, everything revolved around them,they even co-parented a freaking child!!)paralleled with all the "true love" couples,had dramatic ass hope speeches to each other, the showrunners threw the first available men at them, except one of the writers had the balls to say SQ would never happen,but she was fired right after. Even after that the fans had hope,because of the showrunners baiting. The thing is,they said all the time that SQ was best friends,but they hugged maybe 2 times in show😩 and that's the thing I feel like sq and sc has in common, the show says they are best friends,but you never see it no? Instead it's this tension and hesitation and care and understanding that you never see them show other characters🤷♀️

I understand that you want to look at the incarnation of heroes on the screens. The only question is quality. Sometimes it would be better if some of the adaptations did not exist at all. Because it's just a nightmare. But I must say, they sometimes try to do well (if they even tried to do something before that, lol). Say Freedom Agent, in the beginning he had good motivation, good beliefs, and an interesting story. Lex is just mean, but interesting to watch. And so with many villains (sometimes heroes (They are just empty, especially secondary. And they change them every season)). But after the first steps, everything again slides into the trash. you get tired point your finger at everything. I personally watch this series to see how NOT to do it.

ugh okay I need to voice my opinion too .. I don’t watch supergirl anymore and I tell you why: the writers don’t write for their characters. They constantly put plot over character development. While Oliver and Barry (the leading characters on Arrow and The Flash) had one very steady love interest over most of the series, Kara gets 4 “romantic” scenes with a man every year (exclusing Mon-El from that but that was a whole other mess of writing) instead of giving her a solid love interest even though they’d have one (I mean Lena is literally RIGHT THERE). You know what that makes Supergirl look like? As if a woman can’t have it all. As if Kara wasn’t allowed to be in a steady relationship bc she’s supergirl. But male superheroes can? I mean Superman is with Lois, but Kara has to be single forever? And then you give her 4 scenes with some nee guy and it’s called romance?! Why can’t you just give her a real love story AND let her kick some superhero butt? That doesn’t mean it should revolve around her love life (season 2 I’m looking at you), but it should get a place in her life. And I don’t mean one stupid date, I mean a REAL EMOTIONAL CONNECTION! I have found the undeniable difference between their relationship not being just friends.
It is simple, but... the fact that they don't talk about their love interests. And when they do there is an obvious NOT FRIENDLY undertone reaction or response... or some way to make it look as their reactions are for some other reason... Like when she ask Supergirl if she knew Kara was dating Mon-el, her expression. Or when she looked at Mon-el weirded out when he came back from the future, but never talked to Kara about it. When she went to ask her for help with Jack, her ex. When she was at danger and she ask her not to see him. And the weirdness of the dinner intervention. When she felt guilty about Mon-el's departure... but they never talked about it. About her feeling for him or nothing related. When Sam asked Kara if she was seeing anybody, Lena literally was seeing Kara... and she instantly looked down kind of ashamed (They tried to make it look as that was a look of guilt from Lena, but gurlll... contexttttt, supercorp fandom going wild out there... but we make those takes and way of editing anyways)

My favourites are Kara, Alex and Lena - the actresses and actors have always been the saving grace of this show but the writing has always been TERRIBLE. I have NEVER enjoyed watching Kara’s “romantic” relationships. I think it’s because they put her with male characters who have no vulnerability or are flawed in a off-putting way. In any case, the romance is not the only problem with the writing on this show. Lolsss

Have you seen Legends of Korra? The writers said as the show continued on, it felt natural that Korra and Asami would end up together. I thought thats what was happening with Kara and Lena. It just naturally works! What's his nuts was barely in the show. I forgot all about him after Crisis until he popped back up.

they aren't... they are trying to paint Lena as a literal second sister to Kara. If you compare their scenes to those of Alex and Kara they are VERY similar in tone... Yet no one says Kara and Alex (someone is actually a lesbian in the show and has no blood relation or official adoption relation to Kara) could be a thing.. Yeah it's stupid writing since the amount of time they've known Kara is so drastically different, but that is what the writers decided to do when they saw how much love Lena's character was getting (she was originally meant to be a Big Bad since they couldn't use Lex at the time cause of the movies). They even tried to make this SUPER OBVIOUS in season 5's last episode when they had Alex and Lena say the exact same lines at the same time about Kara...

I've read that article too, we had the same reaction. I could've the bought James and Kara back in S1 but they trash James. The thing I like about Supergirl back then is the sisterhood, they could've explore Nia and Kara (Hero and her protege), the Dansen, Jon being a father figure, they should'nt feed on SuperCorp if they don't it want to happen in the first place.
I started watching Supergirl in december 2016, and I was hooked right away. I even got a tattoo that says "be your own hero" because that's always relevant. But season 5 was so disappointing, and when I read this... I. Am. Done.
They made me hate my favorite show. They made me want to get my tattoo, that once held meaning, lazer removed. And I've decided to delete my Twitter app, because the negativity started to infect my daily life.
Trust me, I am not looking forward to another season of forced relationships and drama crap. And honestly... I don't even think I'll start watching season 6. Looks like a waste of time and happiness.

Whnever I watch any show I always respect the actors and the writers, and if a ship isn't going to happen I accept it and move on.. however when it comes to this the writers are actually beginning to irritate me, and that's hard to do as I always like to give them the benefit of the doubt.
When it comes to Lena and Kara I have simply adored them together for a few years, and - again - the writers are beginning to irritate me.. They seem to make something look a certain way in order to attract more view's which is wrong and isn't going to end well soon. At first I thought I was seeing things, until I noticed a pattern which happened over and over again which didn't sit well with me... I've been writing for a while, and I'm not an expert on the subject as I'm self taught. I haven't been to school since I was twelve and due to the learning difficulties we were unaware l had I didn't learn anything when it came to grammar and spelling-- so, due to not having a tutor I decided to teach myself everything I know.. After the few hundred followers I gained I learned to listen to my audience, however also not to pine to them either. I learned that I had a responsibility to the audience/readers I had and I didn't wish to disrespect them or mislead them. If they thought a storyline with characters was going a certain way, I'd tell them immediately that it wasn't instead of allowing them to get excited over something that wouldn't happen. So with that in mind I wish the Supergirl writers would just say "we're not going to do it" like the Once upon a time writers did and be done with it. People will understand, however if they keep teasing people they're going to lose even more views than before.
They need to stop messing people around so much, it isn't fair to anyone, including their actors because there are over the top fans out there who WILL attack the actors verbally and that's not fair at all. For example: I absolutely loved Emma's and Regina's relationship during ONCE, however I never sent hate toward them or kicked off, I accepted that it wasn't going to happen and appreciated the friendship the writers managed to create between them instead. I wasn't happy with how some fans treated Jennifer Morrison. If the writers in Supergirl would quit messing around instead of trying to be dramatic or trying to get views they'll find themselves having a larger audience.. Personally I like meaningful storylines that grip you.. This season didn't grip me other than my hope that things will become better..
One thing I dislike the most in any show is where writers will randomly put characters together when it clearly doesn't work.. Kara and William is so forced like how Lena and James were and it makes me cringe.. Calling them "slow burn" couldn't be further from the truth. I did, however, think that Lena and Jack worked, I liked their banter and it seemed to flow between them easily. But of course you remember his fate.
The good pairings they have in the show usually end up getting either ruined or neglected. If they don't wish to go ahead with it, I'm fine with that. However what I'm not okay with is baiting your audience knowing you're going to give them false hope. If the actors themselves are not comfortable with it then I'd completely get it that way too and wouldn't mind. If the writers were straight with us from the beginning instead of messing people around things would be different. It would've showed respect for their audience and the reaction wouldn't have been bad.. they've put themselves in a horrible situation due to baiting people for views... If they say straight up now "we don't want to do it, and we won't" I won't kick off and I will accept it, however due to how they've been playing it for years, ESPECIALLY this season people are going to be angry.. they have no one to blame but themselves. It may have been unintentional at first, but to repeat it over and over and for the scenes to become more intimate than the last, that is no longer an accident.. They know exactly what they're doing. Like I said before as soon as your audience gets an idea and have hope and you notice it, SHUT IT DOWN and tell them straight- DON'T lead them on and use it to gain views.
Even people who don't like Supercorp can see that William and Kara just do not work.. They don't.. I never say this as I don't wish to cause drama or any hate.. I am not about that.. But I know that if Lena were a man, they would've put them together during season 3 or 4, I bet my money on it.
Fair enough, they didn't know at the start that Supercorp would become what it has.. However, again, to repeatedly bait people is not an accident and completely intentional, at first it would've been accidental, but after a while.. There's no way it's accidental. I wish they'd just be honest.. It isn't the fact they won't do it that bothers me, it's the dishonesty.. And forcing characters together that clearly don't work..
I'm only watching it for Katie at this point.. I LOVE the other characters, but the writers aren't giving them the attention they deserve. I've watched Katie since she first appeared in Merlin back when I was eight or nine. I am now turning twenty. Katie puts so much into her characters and she's aware of the other actors in the room and uses it to her advantage. She's very observant and seems to delve deep into her characters in order to understand them better. That's what makes her a good actress. It's in the minor details, like when Lex yelled at her and she flinched back, just in that little movement and reaction it tells you how much abuse Lena has endured by Lex and her whole family. Katie did that intentionally because she delves deep into the characters she plays. Morgana you felt sorry for her despite all of her wrong-doings due to how Katie portrayed her. I saw a lost broken woman whom allowed rage and anguish to consume her- she became the person she feared and Katie expressed that so well. If Katie leaves the show I think the show will end.

Kara's only ever had romantic chemistry with Cat Grant's son and Mon-El. They could've kept Mon-El after the whole thing with Imra was done but well, that didn't work out for reasons I will not get into at the moment. Also, I think A LOT of fans walked away from the show after Mon-El and Wynn left. I say that because I'm one of them. The Reign season was the last good season SupergiRl had, in my honest opinion.
Kara and Lena do have amazing chemistry but I personally am just unable to see it as romantic. I do think it could be developed as such but as it stands, I see it as a deep friendship between people who had everything to become enemies but chose to walk a different path, together.
Eh, the bit with Superman&Louis and Kara and Lena is a bit of a stretch in my opinion. They could've chosen other colours and Lena would still have worn them at some point in the season.
As for the fight for Lena's soul title, it doesn't necessarily mean it's other people fighting for her soul but maybe all of them, including herself. The back and forth between Kara and Alex in regards to Lena makes sense to me because battles are rarely "consistent", you win some, you lose some; enemies today and allies tomorrow.
I get where Supercorp fans are coming from and I do agree that the writers play on that particular side of the fanbase's wishes but I also think a lot of fans take it too far as though the show is obligated to act on it.

I think that they are not putting Kara and Lina in a relationship is because, historically, Supergirl was never gay or bisexual. If they suddenly made Kara gay then it would cause a riot with the Supergirl fandom and cause the show to tank. The comics were not gay positive when Supergirl was introduced and those people who read Supergirl from the get go would be up in arms if Supergirl was suddenly gay (this is from the purists). The writers know this and that is why they are only hinting to keep the Supercorp fandom happy or in your case frustrated.
As someone who also ships Supercorp and also doesn't like contrived romance stories, I wonder how big "Supergirl's" Supercorp audience is compared to the rest of the viewership. Supercorp fans might be passionate and more active on social media, but is that the best way to measure the whole "Supergirl" audience? For all we know, a less vocal majority of the viewers might prefer to see Kara in love with a man. So, it would be good to know - with concrete numbers - how large the Supercorp audience is compared to the show's audience as a whole. If it's not that big, we could better understand the show's reluctance toward a Supercorp storyline. And I get the idea that if the show (miraculously!) decided to give Kara and Lena a romantic same-sex relationship, the top brass at both Warner Brothers and DC would need to sign off on the idea.
P.S. Re: Lena's burgundy-colored costumes - Perhaps her most striking (and butch) outfit of Season 5 was her burgundy three-piece suit (with slacks!). So, compared with Lena's other burgundy-ish clothes (such as her "kombucha" coat), I think the idea that Lena's costuming might be co-ordinated with that of the super-significant-others is well taken.

Something definitely did change after crisis episode, as 5A was going down the path for supercorp then in 5B kara & lena barely got any scenes together and when supercorp did have a scene they had them stand 6ft apart .It has to be the executive producer as they have final say
