You can import LUTs and show the image on the Sony FX6 LCD monitor. But the way I had my FX6 setup back then was to have a clean image on the Shogun and the S-log3 image on the Sony LCD. The main reason was I shot in Custom mode and not Cine EI. When in Custom mode I can change the ISO (or gain) and it will burn it into my footage. If I shoot Cine EI, it doesn't. But if I apply a LUT in camera while in Custom mode, it's burned into the footage, which I didn't want. Hope that is clear! Thanks for watching :)
Great video! I have a Ninja V, but would love a 7 inch monitor. I also used a Sumo the other week to act as a client monitor, and it was absolutely fantastic due to the flexibility with the colour outputs and display overlays. Although, I don't think there's a magic arm strong enough for that to be mounted on the camera 😉
is the Shogun 7 connect more reliable than the Ninja V or V+? I find the Ninja to be finnicky and freezes up on me regularly and I want something to be able to shoot for VR production with the added hookups with the connect. I have an S1H and want the 12 bit dynamic range but need it to be a solid piece of equipment for either set shooting or on the fly.
I have the inferno for the fs5 because it unlocks so many features on that camera. I always feel like it’s a bit too heavy and it has the same battery issues as yours. Overall worth it though.
Great video thank you for making it. I use this same set up for my FX6. I shoot handheld as well but with an easy rig. Wondering what SDI cable brand you're using and if you're using the 12G or 6G SDI port for most of your recording.
Does anybody have their hands on the Shogun Connect yet? I'd love to see it being used with multiple A7SIII's because it looks like it would be wonderful for a range of different scenarios from run n gun to multicam studio setups.
The Shogun does have a bit of fan noise, but I didn't notice it too much with my shotgun. With that said, I don't always need on camera audio for my projects. Audio is normally off camera via a lapel or bomed shotgun mic.
@@YourStoryStudios Nor having full level monitoring makes it hard to monitor your image because your shadows are just clipped and you see no detail, which can make you overexpose to see the detail in shadows thus making your image overexposed and loose detail in the highlights instead. Atomos make great products but not having full range makes the monitor part not a reliable option in professional shoots. I dont know if the recording is full level, but anyway you cant rely on what you are seeing on atomos monitors. Just compare side by side to the image you see on the fx6 monitor, there you will see all detail in the shadows.
This is really helpful... thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Ninja v with my A1 and can’t live without it
1:51 …because you can’t already display Rec 709 or import luts directly into the stock monitor right… RIGHT?

Thank you!!Super gear
You're welcome!
I would love to hear more details about te Fx6 with Shogun!
I’ll see what I can do 😉

The Sumo looks like a great monitor/recorder for on set!

I don't have experience with the Connect or the Ninja V (or V+) sorry! Thanks for watching.

Is the HDMI in an option for switching as well or is the switching restricted to only to SDI in?
Only SDI unfortunately. No mixing HDMI and SDI inputs.
@@YourStoryStudios I figured, thanks.
@@HakimZziwaTips Yes, unfortunately it's one of those gotchas!
Thanks for the video! How did you attach the v-mount battery to the FX6?
Ah... found the answer in your other video - th-cam.com/video/2DsaXgK89F4/w-d-xo.html
I use the Tilta battery plate 👍 Thanks for watching!
Pretty cool monitor! Can use the false color on top of the multiview to match multiple camera exposure?

I’m using the Shape Skinny 90-degree BNC cable 12 inches black. I’m also using the 12g port 👍
Can you record 4k 120p to the ssd inn the shogun7?
Not on the Shogun 7. You'll need to get a Ninja V+ to that that I believe.
I use the Ninja V with my A7Siii - never go to a shoot without it!
Nice!

Does Shogun record over the hdmi ? (i use sony a7siii)

Sorry may bad, i mean does it record prores raw with sony s3@@YourStoryStudios

I bought it and returned it immediatly as it clips shadows by not having full range ire levels
Isn’t that a simple fix in post? What NLE are you using?
