    I have the black/red with the single power handle. I use this reel for catfishing in reservoir spillways. When these spillways discharge there is a popular technique called "bumping" or better known as drifting. That extra button that engages the drag is ideal for drifting. It is really useful because your cork can go under and you don't have to have both hands on the rod. You can just click the button and set the hook. I've caught many flatheads drifting shad and bluegills under a slipcork on this reel. I have it paired with a 9'6 whisker seeker rod and I can't say enough about this reel.

  • @hammer9856

    The line tie on the spool is an advantage when you are using braid, as the whole mass of the line tends to slip and not be taken up on the spool when under tension when using the standard way of tying the line to the spool. The usual fix is to lay down some electrical tape before spooling on line, so that the braid has something to "bite" into and not slip. The tie would eliminate this as it would anchor the braid firmly to the reel.Surprised that someone hadn't thought of this before. (Maybe they have but I haven't seen it before.)

      @@DaiMasters the problem is - and I do own an Alijoz btw - without at least some mono backing, even if tightly spooled on, braid tends to dig into itself at the lower levels and get stuck. This can cause issues with line-lay and casting...especially on deeper spools such as this.

    First thanks for doing this vid can't wait for the next Piscifun Alijos vid. To answer your question the most popular swimbait low profile reels are the Tranx and Lexa depending on what fanboy base you talk to. Piscifun Alijos is used a lot but doesn't get the credit if deserves. You will find that salt water fisherman tend to use the Alijos more then the others. @EliteNugz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm no fanboy but I've used everything and the shimanos aren't as good as ppl say. The tranx performs great don't get me wrong. But if you're catching huge drag pulling fish that will heat your gears and drag up they won't last long. I've stripped the drags on 12 to 15lb hybrid stripers. But you want a swimbait reel that proforms good and lasts long no matter what you catch then there's only one real choice. The Abu Garcia revo toro beast. Bull sharks can't strip the drags on those reels.

    I believe the spool re-engage is for stuff like pitching into cover, where you're punching (punch-shotting) a heavy lure into cover and then twitching it (where you don't want to accidentally pull the lure back towards you when you turn the handle to re-engage).
    Between each pitch you'll burn the bait back to re-pitch at a different spot. Doing that at a high frequency benefits from that one-handed operation)

Huge muskie and stripers. Hybrids and giant largemouth are nothing for the max toro. Although if you've got the extra cash there's no better big baitcaster than the revo toro beast. I tell ya, for the money you CANNOT buy a better fishing reel than Piscifun! Period! I don’t care if it’s spinning or baitcaster, Piscifun makes the highest quality inexpensive fishing reels in the world right now! I truly believe that!
    I remember how reluctant I was to buy a Piscifun reel because people were telling me Chinese goods ain’t no good and stuff like that! It took nearly a year for me to get enough courage to buy a Piscifun reel, but once I did there’s no turning back! I ended up buying 12 Piscifun reels in a span of just a year and a half! I bought 3 different models of Piscifun reels (spinning and baitcaster) for myself and as gifts for my family members and friends and they all love them!
    Why not? They are better made than my Shimano and Penn reels that I have but, all and all, cost about 1/3 as much! If you’re in the market for a spinning reel, give the Honor XT or Carbon X a try! For the money I think the Honor XT is a better value if you want my opinion, but both are great reels at under $60!

  • @hammer9856
    @hammer9856 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The real proof that this is a bargain is if it holds up. The features are great, but will it keep tolerances and smoothness after a few seasons use and some heavy fish on line. That's where SOME of the more expensive reels shine. (For instance those old Calcuttas just seem to keep on going and going) Only time out fishing will tell... Still at $100 it might be worth taking the plunge.

    This company impresses me more every review I see. I've been trying to avoid these 'Chinese" companies but when you really compare apples to apples, especially Piscifun to other makers, they seem to be offering better quality (buck for buck) than just about anyone! In fact, if you compare the guts of the Phantom with the guts of an Abu Garcia revo x, you'll see a lot more plastic in the Abu! (Which is now made in China if I'm not mistaken!) Piscifun which I previously had no respect for & called them "PissyFun" has/is changing the game IMHO!

    I have been a big fan of Piscifun reels for awhile now. I have the Torrent, Flame, Alloy M and Alijos. I discovered my first real "gripe" with the Alijos yesterday. While fishing inshore, the reel got dunked in saltwater. When I got home I rinsed it very well with freshwater but decided I needed to make darn sure that ALL saltwater was out of the gears. I'm sure there's a way to get to those gears, but I sure can't figure it out! Every other casting reel I've ever owned has been a matter of taking a few screws out and taking the crank side off, rinse, dry and re-lube. This Alijos looks like you've got to break the entire reel down to get it off! If I'm wrong, please advise!

      I'd suggest buying a good used reel. It's better to buy a used $100 reel for $50 than to buy a brand new $50 reel for $50. I bought an Abu Garcia max Toro on eBay for $65 and it costs $150 new. And it is just like new. Way better than the reel in this video.

    I bought the Piscifun Phantom and all 3 versions of the Phantom X. I was initially impressed, but that didn't last long. The braking system is useless in the rain and will deteriorate after only a few months rendering the reels useless just with moderate use, even in dry conditions. A Shimano or Diawa may be twice the price but will last you years and consistently perform well.

    • @ubeseyo
      @ubeseyo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have an issue with my phantom. It over brakes and cant get any distance. This is with only 1 or 2 brakes on.

    • @neilrobinson7615
      @neilrobinson7615 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ubeseyo I found the same issue. If you keep cleaning the braking ring and the brake shoes and very lightly oil them it will improve for a while. However it needs to be done several times a session and will only deteriorate as time goes on and the plastic brake shoes become more worn.
