Good vid, but a couple of things were wrong with the info you gave out. The incubation period for these monitors is not that long, they usually hatch out between 90-120 days not the 160-180 days that you mentioned. Also a study was carried out a couple of years ago now and Varanus acanthurus and Varanus acanthurus brachyurus are now considered to be the same species. Loved the rainfall part, not many people know that the parts of austrailia that they come from can have so much rain. Again great vid but just thought I would help out with some info as I have kept these amazing monitor lizards for over 10 years now, hope you don't mind.
@@droptopOX he was very flighty to start with moves alot wen in your hand will walk all over your chest arms, head but dose did jump to start with and as soon as he hits the floor thats it he's off lol, end up having to dig him out of sum corner sumwhere. But he's calmed down alot now.
Really informative video! I’m an Australian currently looking into getting a spiny-tail monitor so I’m trying to do as much research as possible beforehand. Such a great video to come back and watch for reference. Is there any books you would recommend as well for more knowledge 😊
Hei again. What I wonder in your video: is the period when dry and wet: Is it same periods when Varanus go into brumation? If so. the question on the rigt level of humidety is more complex. they go into natural brumation when wet or dry?

Is your hand cut or scratched ??
Is 120-50-50 cm for one enough, i plan to include a lot of branches for climbing
No. Get a 5x2x2ft or 150x60x60cm
I JUST GOT 8 EGGS FROM ONE OF MY FEMALES!!! YAY FIRST CLUTCH AND THEY LOOK FERTILE AND I CAUGHT THE MALE MATING HER!!
I'd personally put any monitor in intermediate at least
Yeah it's all personal mate. I respect everyones measured take on a situation.
