- Come enjoy the DSA OSW with us! This is a short update on the greatest FAL of all times. We fired 2,000rds through it, 500 of them were shot suppressed.
Fully kitted out with the suppressor, it is a tiny package that packs a lot of heat and is great for any close quarter scenarios.

0:11 Pretty much any surplus metal FAL/SLR magazine is unobtanium these days.
If you DO happen to find any in stock, you need to whip out that credit card with a quickness.
I wouldn't say unobtainable. I stock them semi-regularly in my shop. All imported from South Africa...

Love it!!!! IMO this is what the Army should have gone with instead of the Sig Spear.

Agreed. I'm not a big fan of the SPEAR at all. But I guess time will tell in what capacity this firearm will be footed in the US Army...
Give me until beginning of August for metric mags. if they drop they'll be sold out within minutes!

Can't believe mags are so hard to find for a rifle used by nearly every country at least once

Most South American countries don't want to export, and there is little left in South Africa that I try to import.

How has the handguard and dustcover been for you ? Kitbadger did a vid on this a while back and seems to of gotten an unfortunately terrible SA58.
I have not had an issue with the handguard nor the dust cover. The screws are super tight on both and no wobble. All of them came already loctited.
What are hens teeth are the drums.
The 30 is great if you are not prone.
Or learn how to shoot prone with a 30rd mag - or have a 20rd mag for that purpose ready.
I have yet to see a FAL drum mag. But I believe my genuine 30rd Rhodesian FAL mag is rare too

Also I'm curious to your opinion would you rather have a SilencerCo hybrid 46 or the Knight Arms KAC QDC suppressor?
I have not have chance to experience either. I shot the Huxwrxs suppressors recently and am heavily impressed. Surefire suppressors are cool too, I own a few.

18". Little loss in ballistics and the loss of 3 inches can make a huge difference in terms of more controlability.

What happened to the surefire flash hider for the FAL?
Still on there. My surefire SOCOM can utilizes a quick detach mount that only works with their flash hiders/ muzzle brakes. So I gotta use the Surefire flash hider in conjunction with the suppressor
Would it be safe to say that DSA has figured out their QC issues?
I own multiple DSA rifles (all paid for by myself) and have not had any issues relating to the firearm. As soon as the gas regulator was dialed it they run like a charm! So I would say yes, the QC is squared away
No, they have not, i just had to send my DSA 11" FAL back to then bc i was getting failure to feed every couple rounds, upon feeding the round into the chamber the shoulder of the casing was literally getting ripped open. However i will say their customer service was top notch.
Would you recommend the 12” or 13” model?

What does the FAL OSW do that an AKM does not? More flash? It get's about the same projectile preformance since the barrel on the FAL is way to short for .308win.
Shoot a 7.62x51mm cartridge. And being a super short FAL - something the AKM cannot claim to do.
It's not designed to be the most accurate, sub MOA rifle, but rather a powerful SBR.
@@thefalguy9848 yea, but what i am saying is that it is not. Larger cases need more barrel to burn the powder. When you put 7.62x51 in a 12" barrel you will get the same preformance as 7.62x39, the additional powder just turns in to a ligh show. It's goofy.

@@user-tr1jq1qd5y Yes. But be aware not every FAL is the same, for some you can leave the gas system more open and they run reliably.

I have run DSA polymer mags through this rifle and they worked. Moses ones were iffy. The rest did not perform at all
@@thefalguy9848 to be honest with you, my friend I don’t trust that magazine you loaded up with 19 rounds and it bulges out. Seems like it’s going to split in half I I would like to hear what the Rhodesian veterans think about that plastic mag I think I can guess
@@DraganB52 yeah that was not a DSA or Moses polymer mag. If memory serves me right it was Thermold. And definitely not worth my time nor money 😂

@@R.Tafolla Basically everybody here is saying really delusional stuff about how competitive the FAL is against current military rifles.
It's super cool to modernize one, but this is not competitive today. To defend it, everybody refuses to get into specifics, and they simplify their categories of performance until the FAL can come out on top. Just people lying to themselves.
@@superfamilyallosauridae6505 I only saw two comments comparing them to the Sig Spear and the SCAR-H. Considering the DSA is a quarter of the price to those rifles, I would say it’s a decent choice for a consumer looking for a .308 semi automatic rifle.
@@R.Tafolla For a civilian who wants in general a .308 selfloader, yes. For a military, no. I'm a sig hater, but the XM7 is a different universe to the FAL, and so is the SCAR. And so are AR10s.
Modernized FALs were very rare in military service for a reason. The only decent examples I can think of are the New Zealand ones with ACOGs and the Irish DMRs.
And while cheaper than gucci rifles like SCARs and XM7s, (which I don't own, for good reason), DSAs aren't cheap in absolute terms as .308 selfloaders either. A Sig 716 like the Indians adopted is lighter (despite a longer barrel), $800 cheaper, freefloated, will give you a cheekweld without modification, more accurate, etc.
8.5lbs with a 16", vs 9lbs with a 12". In .308 that's a pretty big difference in performance.
I am also an NGSW hater. The XM7 was the least worst rifle, but they chose the worst ammunition. The entire concept is a mistake, regardless.
Battle rifles as a whole are already heavier, more expensive than assault rifles. To use one, you need a good reason, and that reason is almost universally some precision thing. So if you can't be precise, you can't add powerful optics and lasers and a suppressor and still weigh less than an M240L, and you can't go the distance, what are you using .308 for?
FALs aren't competitive anymore because rifles like AR10s that are all over the place.
@@R.Tafolla If you wanted a DMR FAL from DSA, an analogue to a SCAR-20 in ability to use modern optics and barrel length, and you look at their SASS submission, the SPR, it's 16lbs. A SCAR 20 with a 20" is 11.6lbs. They're both $5000 guns.
Anyways, there's a reason they're not getting mil contracts often. SCARs are flawed weapons, but modernized FALs are simply obsolete.
I just want FALs to be more available. No currently manufactured inch pattern guns left. Aussie, Canadian, Indian FALs? Good luck. British? At least those are available.
