In the 1.0 LSPD you can see a display case on the left of the entrance holding an m14, an m1911(I think) and a classic swat helmet. The plaque on the case details the events of an officer who basically lead a swat platoon to dissable a nuke in LS. These officers had to switch their weapons to m14s, a 308 battlerifle, since rounds from their smgs and ar-platform rifles were ineffective against the terrorists body armor. After reading this I wouldn't be suprised if LSPD adopted 308 as a cqb cartridge in light of that event.

I didn't play the game, but I did shoot with it. There's no need to rack the charging handle (is non-reciprocating, thus no attached to the bolt), it has a bolt hold-open latch just like an AR. Empty mag? Just drop it with your right index, put the fresh one in and release with thumb

You're in Germany, with a collector's license (as an example) you can own many guns that Americans can't. Fully automatic rifles, belt-fed machineguns, submachineguns among other things. German gun laws are actually really good and allow for quite a lot of gun ownership while more heavily restricting the weapons that are actually dangerous to the public which are pistols.@@Crystalcluster

I mean, I wanna argue that it's choice for armored suspect missions, but honestly it just comes down to this gun looks, sounds, and feels too cool. There's something supremely satisfying about dropping a suspect with one big 7.62 caliber BANG (*never* equip a suppressor on an SA58). Gameplay-wise it's probably the ARN-180 and it's .300 Blackout for best overall rifle in RoN, but... it's just not quite as cool as the SA58. However, back in the olden days before 1.0, the SA58 was actually my go-to for getting S-Ranks when Incapacitations still counted for the same full 35 points as arresting conscious suspects. It had a tendency to drop even armored suspects with one shot to the torso and not cause them to bleed out, unless you (or rather "they") were unlucky.
Not sure if this was mentioned later because I'm commenting in the middle of the video but another reason this weapon and other short barreled 308 caliber rifles aren't used is because 308 doesn't perform well out of a short barrel. 308 needs a full length barrel to really be effective otherwise you're just using a heavier bullet, with more recoil, and noise with no advantages. 5.56, 300 BO and 7.62x39 all perform better than 308 out of shorter barrels. However its a video game and the fantasy of cqb with a 10 inch cannon is awesome nonetheless.
"No advantages" is an overstatement. It doesn't perform well compared to longer barreled 7.62 NATO. It's still 7.62 NATO. Getting smacked with one of those is still gonna do way more damage than a 5.56 and exponentially more than 9mm.
@@agentoranj5858let me run a large caliber lever action in a tactical setting, let me bring a 6 gauge shotgun, let me rock a compact LMG. I love my efficient tacticool assault rifles and SMGs as much as the next guy, but sometimes you need some absurdity.
I mean, you say it's not practical and yet in Commander mode it's been the reason our group have taken back more incap'd than dead. It's really down to how and where you shoot, and we've got decent trigger discipline between us.
I just came from garand thumbs video, I do wanna say I live in Australia where airsofts or hell nerf guns are conterversial, so my knowledge isn’t too great. But on his video this gun is classed as a pistol because of the brace and that had be losing my shit. A gun that shoots a 7.62X51 is classified as a pistol a battle pistol yeah that make sense.
SA58 in my experience is situational. Very strong in the right scenarios but suffers in the wrong ones. My top choice for tougher bigger maps like postal service, port and maybe farm. But weak in CQB because small mag cap and high recoil. General rule of thumb for me is to use the OSW for larger maps and to use the Benelli for CQB. Although the Benelli is still usable even at range.
You know what, I take it back, I do think the SA58 contends with the ARN-180 for best overall rifle in RoN. I've flipflopped between the two, and I've consistently done better with the SA58, and I'm pretty sure I know why. The SA58 has the greatest chance of a one-shot instant incapacitation in the most situations. All other rifles, 5.56 and .300 Blackout to a lesser extent, frequently take two or more shots to the torso. When the suspect raises their gun while you're yelling for compliance, you have fractions of a second to react. If they don't go down on the first shot, there's a much greater chance they get a shot off before the next round comes (and that's assuming you can stay on target for the instant follow-up), especially because a non-lethal hit with 5.56 and .300 Blackout seem to result in a "flinch" animation more often than a stun. The SA58 (almost) always puts them down instantly on the first shot, even with body armor. Even if it doesn't, a solid hit will usually put them in the "stunned" animation and unable to shoot back (see 7:52). I'd say it only really suffers compared to the other rifles if you get in a firefight where everybody is already engaging you. If the suspects are running around and shooting, then yeah, spraying back with 30 rounds of 5.56 or .300 would be more practical than 20 rounds of semi-auto high-recoil 7.62. But if you're playing the game right, you should be dictating when most engagements start, therefore getting the upper hand on the first shot where the SA58 outperforms the other rifles.
Best weapon to end engagements fast, but not if you need living suspects. When you showed the ides of march gameplay and explained the strategy, I got flashbacks, because i was stuck on this mission for a long time. Every time I tried to not kill them, they ate 1-2 7.26 boolets and still had the audaciry to shoot at me. I wouldn't reccomend this strategy, especially when you are playing alone.
In regards to the SA-58 not being suited for law enforcement, keep in mind that LA swat has two M60 machine guns in storage just in case (so I've heard)
I kind of find the idea of going throught the Vinyard Level with not only lighly armored but also lightly clad cultists with a 7.62×51mm round as ... overpowered.
After I used this gun in game, I went right onto DSA's website as well as some forums to read up on reviews, and sadly found that it seems theres a serious quality control issue with DSA. Numerous problems with reliability.
Here's hoping that Void will also add a G3 rifle too, to make it stand out from the FAL is adding a HK-79 grenade launcher as a choice that can shoot less lethal nades
Idk we got the G36C, which was the (eventual) successor addressing all the requests/feedback for the G3 and subsequent models. Maybe if we got a map with a marksman position, but at that point just add the MSG90. The HK33A2 seems like a better option if you wanted a longer G3 derivative. HK79 would be sick, but idk if the devs would something that proprietary, especially when it might undermine the MGL & hand thrown utility. I could see them adding a more universal model of UBGL, but probably not the HK79. I'm personally hoping for some more thematic vintage guns to be added like the SG552, Sterling SMG, and MAC-10. All widely adopted and iconic, the 552 is a staple of SWAT games, and those two SMGs are famous for having very unique looking silencers - big opportunities for the sneaky beaky.

One thing you got it wrong, SA58 is a compliance device when firing full auto with muzzle break blindly 🤣 It's got reputation for killing comms in Park Holmes especially because we're sure as shite ain't no crackheads down there packing that kind of heat. Debrief is usually "Who tf fired full auto again with SA58 without a bloody can?", I mean I/we don't dictate gear but jfc - I can't hear shite if you don't put a can on SA58 lmao. Would love to see 7.62 NATO guns more but SA58 is a bit too CQB, currently it's being a placeholder for SCAR-H and SIG SPEAR. It doesn't outperform intermediate cartridge in practicality, but if preference and style given, suppressed SA58 with LVPO works well enough - coming from someone who played on controller and has hand injury. Not a suggestion, nor criticism: Editing has been less memey, I appreciate historical and in-game insights and strategies. Not sure if intentional or not. I'm supportive of whichever direction you prefer. I enjoy both.

@@civilianuseonly Some suspects do have substantial body mass comparable to other states nation wide, 5.56 couldn't bear with. Even in real life I'd rather have a modernized FAL like this than a SCAR-17. The SCAR really failed to live up to the hype. What kind of modern rifle manufacturer voids the warranty if you run a suppressor? Why does the SCAR not have a suppressor gas setting like a lot of WAY less expensive rifles? And why did FN have to use modified FAL magazines as the basis for the Heavy mags? They could have just used the SR-25 magazine pattern, but noooo.

0:24 that is a heckler and koch (h&k) g3 battle rifle, not the FN (Herstal) fal, sure, there is a fn fal in the top right corner but by the way the image is put it looks more like it highlights the g3, they do look similar at a glance though
Its the only primary I use, with the scope it makes the closest this game has to a marksman rifle, popping dudes from line of sight with ease. Its low mag size does not matter as much if that first round drops the target. As swat, we are going into rough situations, unlike a beat cop, when shots are fired there are usually way more hostiles than civilians in the area.
I would always use AP since they both incapacitate/kill in 1 shot if the target has no armor, and with armor JHP takes 3 or more shots against the best body armor in game
In my experience JHP kills anything in 1-2 shots including the most heavily armoured enemies. I've found AP generally does the same. Tbh I don't know if there's much of a difference.

I love the SA58. I have 2 modes for it. LMG and Sniper. 20 rounds of 7.62 at full auto will clear a fucking hallway and NVGS with a big scope really rocks in the new Port Hokan map. The ability to just drop someone to the floor in a shot or two is so handy when you are taking fire or being ambushed
I have an Airsoft version of the SA58. I have the 30rnd extended magazine for it which I really like the look of when it is in my SA58. Mine is the version with the polymer handguard and a 16in barrel.
Always a gun I've wanted to mess with

FN FAL is NOT a semi auto rifle.
It is Full auto rifle with sellect fire.
There are Semi auto only versions of the rifle , but as a base rifle FAL is sellect fire. aka , Full auto AND semi auto.

Muzzle Brake is the Patrician's choice. Nothing makes the bad guy think twice more than the big shoota.
Loud with the power to back it up.
This is my go to for any mission. I run it with the 4x scope and a laser so I have three options for aiming. Scope for long range or sniping an enemy with a hostage, irons on scope for medium range, and laser in canted shooting mode for close range room clearing.
It irks me so god damn much that the FN FAL isn't in more games and movies. It irks me more than I care to admit.
that and the sig 55(x) series of rifles, they just look so nice
Here on te Brazil we use te model Parafal and the Model FN FAL is the regular rifle of our army and Police he is a 7.62x51mm

In a nutshell, THIS GUN SLAPS!
After reading this I wouldn't be suprised if LSPD adopted 308 as a cqb cartridge in light of that event.
good headcannon, I'm with ya on that one
I actually love the gun, even just for its feeling. When you emergency reload and rack the bolt, there is No other gun even close as good to it. And the sound, it just hits hard, in game and as the player.
I didn't play the game, but I did shoot with it. There's no need to rack the charging handle (is non-reciprocating, thus no attached to the bolt), it has a bolt hold-open latch just like an AR. Empty mag? Just drop it with your right index, put the fresh one in and release with thumb
@@damianlopez8141 alright what
You activated me now listen
So no need to rack the bolt, ok, ik bolt catch exists. But I'm talking about the in game animation
I'm in Germany and while ik a lot about guns I can't own shit here
Also how does a non reciprocating bolt have anything to do with not racking the bolt
Non reciprocating just means that the bolt handle doesn't move BACK with the bolt cycling. You can still very much pull back the bolt handle and take the bolt with it
Oh and I just want to add I don't want to front you or anything in that way. You might just not have communicated your point clearly enough or I didn't understand it properly
Just pls don't be offended lmao
You're in Germany, with a collector's license (as an example) you can own many guns that Americans can't. Fully automatic rifles, belt-fed machineguns, submachineguns among other things. German gun laws are actually really good and allow for quite a lot of gun ownership while more heavily restricting the weapons that are actually dangerous to the public which are pistols.@@Crystalcluster
@@102ndsmirnov7 yes, that's true, but actually acquiring such licenses is quite expensive and a complicated process.
Oh and also may I ask for your sources? Are you German?

It had a tendency to drop even armored suspects with one shot to the torso and not cause them to bleed out, unless you (or rather "they") were unlucky.
one of my go to weapons in the whole game
\
Hell yeah! The Right Arm of the Free World!
Very true, though I love the look of sbr. 308s
Games gotta start letting players wildcat their shit, gibsmedat .338 OSW and .375 HK51K already.
Is it because of the concussive effect from the sound of the gun?
SA58: "it is not my job to judge these criminals. Only God can judge them, I merely set up the appointments."
I've been enjoying the 870 CQB myself. Granted it's a little slow firing being a pump action. But damn it hits hard against unarmored targets.
In Brazil is a normal caliber for the officers. Any street officers have one here. We call this one “PARAFAL”.
I own an actual SA58 OSW. Great weapon platform. It’s got some weight to it
In regards to the SA-58 not being suited for law enforcement, keep in mind that LA swat has two M60 machine guns in storage just in case (so I've heard)
brazillian anti-gang forces regularly deploy FALs and multiple types of LMG.
It's a matter of who you are enforcing the law on.
I use this weapon a lot, and most of time I only get to use 2 mags at the end of the mission.
Fn 49 amd Fal developed by same man ,Dieudonne Saive at FN ,he was one of Brownings diciples.
I kind of find the idea of going throught the Vinyard Level with not only lighly armored but also lightly clad cultists with a 7.62×51mm round as ... overpowered.
thick brick building means no overpenetration risk, might as well take the opportunity you are given
After I used this gun in game, I went right onto DSA's website as well as some forums to read up on reviews, and sadly found that it seems theres a serious quality control issue with DSA. Numerous problems with reliability.
Hey nice video, I think you should do one about the GA416 (in-game: HK416)
great video as always
thank you!
G3 doesn't makes sense at all for RoN.
@@DraxTheDestroyer It makes more sense than the sa58 does many law Enforcment agencies in the US used g3s and hk33s, also the g3 is way better than the fal

Not so much of a fan of traditional looking guns, but I love the FAL/SA-58 in this game. Both aesthetics and function. I do hope we get more 7.62 NATO alternatives though, even though it is not what I'd think of as a traditional law enforcement/close quarters cartridge.

i mean realistically if you want more than the 20 round mag you can use a 30 you dont really have to go prone in cqb so its doesnt matter much
you should make a video on the f90!
This and the tiny barrel AK should add concussive effect on the user if fired indoors and without suppressor.
I started using it only cuz of lound sound that gives me more immersy
A lot of México police corps have this weapon in his arsenals
One thing you got it wrong, SA58 is a compliance device when firing full auto with muzzle break blindly 🤣
It's got reputation for killing comms in Park Holmes especially because we're sure as shite ain't no crackheads down there packing that kind of heat.
I've been enjoying finding interesting stories about the guns when I do research for these videos (AKs being used by American police in Alaska), which means less time for memes. Personally,I find it more meaningful than memes but will continue to experiment
@@civilianuseonly Some suspects do have substantial body mass comparable to other states nation wide, 5.56 couldn't bear with.
I don't remember how AK performs in snow but I doubt being state-county level asking for a modernish AR18-style operating system in 7.62x39 would go so well when the rest of the states just only got a hand on decked-out AR15. AK is probably well-tested enough.
AK is designed to perform well in snow and it performs exceptionally. It's Soviet after all.@@heybimo

I'd love to see some AR-10s in this game
Tried it out in beta and have never gone back. It's just way too much fun to *know* that two shots will take down a suspect with a loud-ass crack that will never fail to scare the shit out of my girlfriend every time I play while she's in my room.
I use this one on missions that are pissing me off. I'll go in with nothing but mags, no supressor, and heavy armor. Mag dump from the hip in full auto.
0:24 that is a heckler and koch (h&k) g3 battle rifle, not the FN (Herstal) fal, sure, there is a fn fal in the top right corner but by the way the image is put it looks more like it highlights the g3, they do look similar at a glance though
SA58 is a skill gun - if you can land your shot - you don't need to follow up
Its the only primary I use, with the scope it makes the closest this game has to a marksman rifle, popping dudes from line of sight with ease.
Its low mag size does not matter as much if that first round drops the target.
As swat, we are going into rough situations, unlike a beat cop, when shots are fired there are usually way more hostiles than civilians in the area.

I struggle with knowing when to use AP vs JHP with the SA58... is 7.62 JHP enough against lightly armoured targets, or should I still use AP?
I would always use AP since they both incapacitate/kill in 1 shot if the target has no armor, and with armor JHP takes 3 or more shots against the best body armor in game
In my experience JHP kills anything in 1-2 shots including the most heavily armoured enemies. I've found AP generally does the same. Tbh I don't know if there's much of a difference.
