VEKTOR LM6 - SOUTH AFRICA'S BEST RIFLE

- The LM6, developed in the late 80ies, is one of the best rifles ever manufactured in South Africa. Short, handy and super easy to operate, it stands out as a reliable and accurate short rifle.
This rifle was made with mostly South African parts on a US-made receiver, with the correct LEW engravings.
We preserve history!

I patrolled the Mozambique border back in 93/94 with the SAP catching guys bringing AK`s over the border to supply the cANCer during "The Township War" and ALWAYS carried my 50 round mag as my first mag...we all did...8 guys with 50 rounds each to return fire when we bumped the gun runners always turned them into Olympic athletes...
Thank you for your piece of history. Much appreciated! And thank you for your service, trying to keep our country safe from terrs.
This might be a little strange, but where are you actually from? Because i assumed the US, because of yoru accent, but at the same time it's not fully American, and you Afrikaans almost sounded more like Dutch, but you also just said "our country", so now i'm super confused lol@@thefalguy9848
93 / 94 we did township patrolls! Most of us where doing camps as intake stopped in 92. We where all issued either with R 5 or R 6 not the lm 6. Never did we run arround with the 50 round as it was not readily available at that time. Magazine pouch only accomodated the 35 round magazine.
That war was caused by the government of FW Deklerk. He was fuelling black on black violence. He didn’t succeed and many others who were in favor of apartheid resigned from service such as military. It’s fine that they left, They were not needed anymore
The 50 rounder was actually carried in the weapon during patrol to provide enhaced volume of fire if ambushed. It was not a magazine of last resort. Only one 50 rounder per person was issued.
Thank you for that detail! I appreciate it. I did meet a few ou manne who said their 50rd mag was the mag of last resort. Maybe it was unit SOP...
agreed all the guys carried it in the gun. there was never a pouch made for the 50rounder
@@capetownguy7438 appreciate the comment
I had 2 x 50 round mags taped together in my R5. Were not last resort mags, but in case of ambush spray and pray.
@@richardkuhn9795 thank you for your insight. I always used to believe they were last resort mags since some SAP COIN member and 32BN members told me about that. But I appreciate the correction!

Lekker man! I miss my R5, R6 was great to.
Thanks. Maybe it's time to get another one 🤷🏼
I always hated the length on the R5 stocks, but, I still pine for an LM6 and Micro Galil. I would be interested in a local (US) LM6 SBR.
Well, you can have your US-made LM6 built ny various gun smiths. And my company usually has certain LM6 parts in stock
The R5/R4 had a longer stock the the Galil think the Israelis had shorter arms than the SA guys. Personally the R4 for me fitted perfectly. Loved that rifle was very reliable easy to clean and operate.
@@TheSilmarallion I'd kill for a legit LM6 States-side, but I do prefer the Galil stock, esp. with body armor. Makes me miss old home watching this.
There were a few 50 round magazines floating around, but no one was actually issued them in my unit. The PF leadergroup would have a few and play with them on the range occasionally. We had plenty of the standard 35 round steel and polymer mags but only loaded 30 rounds in each.
Baie goed. Skiet geweldig
Dankie tog.
A really cool rifle with a great story!
Absolutely!
Very cool! Im building an R4 now!
That's awesome! Hope you got all the parts together for that - which can be a challenge
@@thefalguy9848 some of got from some "frontier" guy.... haha

DANKIE MAN , COOL VIDEO
dankie vir jou ondersteuning
I used to always pick the lm6 while I was at sbv then I short the lm5 that's when I felt less recoil and faster shooting, then the lm5 became my preferred choice ever since.
You are not wrong, recoil is less on the LM5. Yet the compactness of the LM6 is a big plus!
Thank you. 👍
Own an original Galill made in Isreal. The R5 is better with the recoil buffer in the back and the FL on the firing pin. 🔥 if I had a choice between FAL7.62 or R5 / R6 FAL (R1 ), i would prefer the R1 by far.
An R1 has its benefits in specific environments. So does the LM6. The compactness of the LM6 is a huge benefit to the rifle system
@@thefalguy9848 Generally meant for guys in vehicles. SAP, Armour and the like. Infantry used R4s, Airforce used R 5s.
you should make a galil sar/arm stock adapter that accepts 1913 Picatinny. Like the ISLE MFG 1913 stock adapter. Been looking for a product like this
It's an idea we are playing with at the moment!
@@thefalguy9848 I’ll be in the lookout👀👀
@@thefalguy9848Where can I buy the LM6 in South Africa
Man we had shit that made our enemies shit themselves
Yep...
nice and compact, and has a foldable stock too
Yep. Greya compact platform

I spat out my drink
*got it from my mom. She got me the Holosun optic
In South Africa the A setting stands for Afrikaans 😊
Awesome!!!!
Thanks!!
@@thefalguy9848 Yeah bru, I love the history of these, and that is one sweet Commando variant!!!
@@DJTheMetalheadMercenary thanks. The history for sure is quite interesting. And properly upgraded this rifle will run for a hot minute...
@@thefalguy9848 Absolutely et al!! Workhorse unit there heheh 🤘
Dagsé!
Lots of talk about short 5.56 not performing. But use in SA proves otherwise.
It has to do a lot also with the type of ammo being used and the expectancy of the performance. Can I reach 500m and still get sub 2 MOA with a 5.56mm 62gr bullet out of an 10..5-11" barrel? Probably not, for that I got other tools. But for short ranges this barrel length is great
Yeah FN literally makes SCAR in 556 with 7.5 inch barrel. It's still more deadly than PDW in 9 mm or 10 mm
no the 50 round mag was always in the gun as there was no pouch that could hold that size mag. all soldiers where issued with only 1 50 rounder.
Im glad someone else pointed this out, to save me time.
Weird not seeing more people correct him on this point.
Regardless was a good video
Everyone was issued with one 50 round mag, but everyone going home left their 50 round mags behind. Was a gunner on a vehicle carried a R 5 with 4 x 50 round mags taped together with duct tape. Empty my R 5 on auto and that gat got HOT!
If you are ever in Utah shooting my heritage please invite me
I live next door in CO...
How is the military power of the South African army?
In terms of the ground forces its one of the best in the southern hemisphere, however it’s rather underfunded considering its expenses
Afrikaans 👍🏼

Ag man that is just a R4 painted and changed here and there
@@BasilMitchell-ir7hq yeah pretty much. Except a shorter barrel, handguard, different gas block, different muzzle brake, different gas tube and gas pistol. And not to mention the railed gas tube and dust cover. But yes, for sure, "just an R4 painted and changed here and there". Lol.
South African Garand Thumb.
Know any places to get R5/4's in the US?
LM4/5/6 clones are available. Go check Tortort for receivers and Iron Curtain Customs or Hillbilly for custom builds
I need a lm5 dust cover with a rail? Anywhere in SA i can buy from ?
Get in touch with Cerberus Tac in Randburg. They can assist
Hi, you have an interesting channel, I disagree only about the reliability of the AK, basically the reliability of the Kalashnikov is greatly exaggerated, and everyone repeats like parrots about the reliability of the AK, although it is mediocre in the act, by the way, this is clearly observed in Ukraine.
Where does can one still get a R5 in South Africa?
Local gun shop....? Dave Sheer has them sometimes too
@thefalguy9848 thank you very much for the reply.
Where is the links
Links are in the description for both US and South African webshop
I want your dust cover
Only R1, only hardcore! ))
Sometimes certain platforms deserve an upgrade for specific tasks 😏
Jammed a couple times I hope you didn't pay much for that weapon
With the right ammo it runs extremely smooth. I don't have any issues with it at all!
Polish both the hammer face and chamber.......
@@johnketchun2816 thanks for sharing!
Israeli rifle is superior to South African copy.
Okay. Like the entire world refuses to believe that but okay.
Not bad Afrikaans, :).
If it's US made , I'll get it. Don't want Israeli made
My clone was made in the US
@@thefalguy9848 pretty cool 💪 was brace hard to install?
@@mrdato116 no. It fits into the regular Galil stock adapters
I can get you a Palestinian made one if you like...it comes with a signature from King Commie Nelson "No Jesus Christ" Mandela himself...yours for only 5 million Reichsmark`s...
