I chop mine up fine, and compress it into bricks that I use in our smoker. It still adds flavor to smoked foods! I keep the aromatic water as well, and add it to the pot when I make chicken stock. 🎉

The quality is perfectly fine because dirt cannot be heated and travel through the tubes. Only steam can do that. Even if he added 5 pounds of salt to the leaves it would still be perfectly fine because salt (like dirt) also can't evaporate.

To have Rosemary essential oil you MUST use the flower exclusively. Here the results is good to perfume a room but not medicine.
