    I humbly disagree about the gears. I just got one and it feels like it’s missing a gear. At 60mph you’ll be looking to shift again but you’re out of luck. Needs a gear from 60-85 and then an overdrive gears for flat highway traveling at 80 plus. Other than this I really enjoy the bike. If there’s a fix for this problem I’d like to hear about it.

  • @KurNorock

    It isn't really "just a goldwing with nothing on it". Just about everything is different on it. Even has a longer wheel base and more aggressive rake. It even has different size wheels. Valkyrie is 17 and 19 while goldwing is 16 and 18.

    I have a black 14 valkyrie, I love this bike, only problem I have with it is the chrome gas cap cover and the speedo cover, between 11:00 a.m. to 1:00p.m. it will blind the hell out of you lol.

    been waiting a week for this video. lol. these things are amazing. I test rode one back in September. they are the smoothest most fun thing to ride. I don't know how they've sold for Honda but it deserves to be a lot more. it looks like nothing else on the road. such an awesome machine. looks, power, everything. good vid Sean. I love my Harley. when it's paid off I'll be looking to add one of these to the stable.

      It was designed for and marketed to younger guys, but they couldn't afford it. The older guys who could afford it, hated it because it didn't look like just another Harley clone from the 1960s.
      How dare honda make a cruiser that doesn't look like every other cruiser in the world!

    I own and ride a 98 valk tourer. best bike I've ever owned. I like all bikes and have owned a dozen of all kinds. they all have their own personality. The Valkyrie has lots of personality and the power is so USABLE. and the boxer 6 has a howl all it's own.
    the new Valk is a great looking bike, and I like that it looks like nothing else. it's one of those bikes that can stay completely stock and still be very cool and repected.

    I get the wind in my face on my 2012 Goldwing. I always have the windshield at the lowest setting, and I open up the vent for the blast of air. So I get the effect, without the buffeting I got on my 2001 Valkyrie. That 1500 was a HOTROD! Six carbs! The later version with the 1832cc flat six is fuel injected, and more of an exercise in technology than the older hotrod version. The 1500 version has a greater rake, so you feel heavier in a parking lot, but more stable at its higher top end (mine hit 140mph...radar confirmed). The 1800 has almost the same power to weight ratio, and about the same 0-60mph time. I'm tempted to go buy one of the still left over 1800 Valkyries. It would be a great stablemate to my Goldwing.

I used to live about 7 miles east of Harrisburg back in the 1970's, and I was last there back in 2010. I almost didn't recognize the place, it's so built up now. I used to go to the Manheim Auto Auction (pretty close to you guys) with my grandfather back in the day. We also loved to go to the drags at York US 30 Dragway.😉👍 Ahhh, the good old days...😊

    Cool bike but I think it’s a very pale imitation of the 2004/5 Valkyrie Rune which I think is the best cruiser ever made. The engineering and build quality on those was just awesome which is why they are now so sought after even when they’re getting to 14/15 years old! I sold mine a few years back but I’m really lucky that a buddy is happy to sell me his and it has under 5,000 miles on the clock! Cannot wait to be out on the road again!

      I didn't mean it was great. I meant it is annoying and even dangerous as it's like hitting the brakes without having brake lights. Definitely needs either a slipper clutch or a higher (or is it lower?) gear ratio for first.

    I admit I did love the looks of the original Valkyrie, though it was not my type of bike. Just like this one, it was too smooth, quiet, and refined for me. But at least it did look like a motorcycle, not like a spaceship, as you said about this one. I don't want to ride a spaceship. My taste runs to large displacement single crankpin v-twins (ala Harley) or long stroke singles, like my Royal Enfield. If it's a motorcycle, it should let you know there is a big thumping internal combustion engine down there, not an electric motor. The whole point of riding a motorcycle is that visceral feeling you get. The more primitive and unrefined the better. I have owned a couple of Goldwings, a 1983 Interstate and a 1989 1500. The '83 at least had a growl to it, the 1500 was like the luxury car you mentioned. I didn't keep it very long. It bored me to death. You mentioned the Harley Ultra. I would much rather have one of those, with some aftermarket pipes. You can hear and feel those 2 big pistons hammering away down there. I'm a cruiser guy, and don't really care much about handling, as long as it is adequate.

      After roughly 5500 rpm the vmax has a butterfly valves open between the two carbs per engine bank. The engine goes from running on one carb per cylinder to two per cylinder making for that crazy power rush you are talking about. That electric motor noise you hear when you turn the key on is the servo for those butterfly valves cycling.

    Too bad, the Nazi state of CA will not allow it in until is has 7,500 miles on it... Our Nazi leaders punish us for the sake of immigration and "internal" economical sales! Nice bike! I had the "older" Valkyrie and liked it a lot. Everything you say about this new Valkyrie makes me want one of the newer Valkyries!!!

    • @ericdolby1622

      117 actually. But torque is what matters and it has 123lb ft. Double or even triple most sport bikes.

    • @lotuscorpse
      @lotuscorpse 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      How do you figure? Roughly speaking an 1800cc motor is 110 cubic inches. If you can pull one horsepower and one torque per each cubic inch if a motor you've built a perfect motor, Honda did that. So how is it low? It's not Harley's underpowered Twin Cams and Milwaukee 8's.

    • @quinnjim
      @quinnjim 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lotuscorpse It’s low compared to the 175hp motors on bikes with much less displacement. I was just expecting the number to be higher.

      It's true. If you have torque at a wide range of rpm, you don't need more gears to stay in the torque curve.

    based on sales numbers, this 2nd generation valkyrie is a total dud. no one buys them. they are like something out of an anime cartoon. Honda went Godzilla Japanese on this redesign and fucked it up...dealers are discounting these abominations brand new 30-40% off, and at that, they're just sitting. Honda ruined the valkyrie...

    Does anyone want to see how smooth a Valkyrie 6 cyl. runs. Here you go with a coin balance test th-cam.com/video/wvPciPbJ0rY/w-d-xo.html. I have thought on more than one occasion that my engine died coasting at an idle down a slight grade with the wind noise covering the light engine sound..

      You missed the point. This is a power cruiser bike not a sport bike. Thoes six cylinders are there for smooth power delivery and torque not all out power. It's the same idea for luxury cars as well. The Bently Mulsanne has a 6.8 liter V8 engine but it produces 530 horsepower but it produces 811 lb-ft and the Mulsanne rides nice, is silent and pulls like mad which is the same with this bike. It's a slimmer version of the Goldwing. Which is you know, is a touring bike that rides nice, is silent and pulls like mad. Sure 118 horsepower doesn't sound like much but it's 721 pounds wet and does 0-60 in 3.4 seconds and runs quarter miles in the 11s. The numbers don't lie. Stop being ignorant and just respect anything with a motor. Because there was so much passion put into this bike and having some person without notable knowledge about bikes complain about it because it doesn't make enough power is a insult to the engineers who made it.

      Exactly so. I rode an MT-01 for 10 years, 1670cc and it probably only made 80 to 90 horsepower. But every ride felt like an adventure and every stop drew a crowd. Last year I traded it for a CB1000r which is great handles amazing but is really far too fast for me and my riding style. Also it just looks like any other bike and you get idiots in cars trying it on cos they don't realise it's 1000cc and quite quick. So I'm scoping out perhaps a 2014 F6C the smooth 6 cylinder 'zoom' I know will give me a kick every time I ride it. This thing isn't a sport bike and its no way trying to be. But I get the feeling it could very well be amazing for zooming about on. And I'm talking real world speeds not jailbait recklessness. I have plans for my life and licence.

      @KurNorock 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But also 125 ft/lbs of torque, at just about every rpm.
      Also, it'll run for 200,000+ miles.
      How many miles will you get out of your 150hp 60ft/lb 4 cylinder crotch rocket that only makes any power at 8500 rpm?

    Well sport bike are built differently than cruisers. The sport bike respond faster the brakes, the angle of front suspension is less so quick responding in the direction. When I see or hear constantly sport biker or cruiser biker talking against the other tipe I find that dum. None of the two kind are better or worst. The have their own purpose. For your question I would say that it would not be a serious test drive of a Cadillac for instance by a guy that is a sport car driver at heart and drives Porche, Ferarry, lamborguini. Do you think you would listen to him. Sport engine at heart don't like or appreciates a daddy's car and same as the other way arround. I prefer a real cruiser driver testing a cruiser. If I would have been a sport biker I would listen a real sport biker testing a sport bike.
    You know we don't ask a prest some advice about sex. It is not is field and beside, what does he know about it. I hope you will understand my logic.
    Without resentment.

      Srkcycles ok you are an exception but in general I was talking. But me I am a mathématique guy and always counting and use probabilities so I don't take chances. What are the odds that I get a sport biker that is a cruiser rider to review a cruiser. You are one in very very few. So since the probability is low, I'm not taking any chance or I take is review very lightly unless I know the guy then I will listen. Now you told me about your type of car but seriously, do you have a cruiser and ride it regularly or you are more a sport bike lover instead?
