My CD4 was 14 when diagnosed in a hospital I developed AIDS too 117 pounds but thanks to ART i am undetectable now and i feel touched by this story i am HIV positive too but been diagnosed these days is different
He was so ahead of his time and brilliant to put himself out in front of the world back when aids and gay people were still so misunderstood and stigmatized. Most people in his postiion would have just used whatever time they had left to spend it with family and friends and check off as much from their bucket list as possible. What a brave and selfless person Pedro was, he will always be immortalized and part of history.
I'm a 42 year old gay man from Mississippi. When I was watching this as a kid, I was soooo impressed with Pedro's courage to be out and to show America that being gay is ok. I used to watch and cry as a closeted teen. He was one of my gay inspirations.
ladies and gentlemen of the new Real World's....THIS is the Real World...this kid put his LIFE on the line for the show, to make an actual difference in the world..to educate...to be loved and respected. So all the future RR cast members...do the show for a purpose, have a reason instead of what seems to be an never ending rent free party. RIP Pedro, even after all these years I want you know you TRULY affected people and I am one of those many thousands!!
I still remember him saying on the show I'm living with aids until my last breath I'll be living with aids. He was such an amazing person to go on the show and use it as a platform to educate people about aids in a time where not much was known and what was put out was falsehoods.
@Ellie5621 We came along way. Now we have Prep. It's a shame that these drugs are so damn expensive. He did something good. He was able to reach many many ppl. He was such an inspiration. Rest in peace Pedro. You are missed by many
@Ellie5621 I'm sure Sean did have his right meds, and he did not die from aids in itself, he had contracted some pulmonar infection (which no doubt by being HIV positive complicated the issue) but what ultimatley caused his death was a pulmonar issue not HIV itself. When Pedro died HIV/AIDS meds weren't still around, or were barely just starting to surface nor there was viable treatment. Pedro also died during the time HIV/AIDS was still a relatively new disease that had not yet been throughly researched by science like it was later on. Sean at least got to live 20 something more years than Pedro did, so it had to been the meds that helped him live longer.
Pedro, you once shared that you worried about who would pick up the torch after you were gone -- no one had to. Your message and your impact continue reach us all almost 3 decades later. Though your time on earth was way too short, the seeds you planted continue to grow and your legacy perpetuates well beyond your years. You are resting now...but the work you did will never rest.
I was just a small child when this Real world came out. I watched the show because I had older siblings who were of age to watch it. And I watched it because like the confrontation kept my attention although I didnt understand anything. But this show is how I learned what HIV/AIDS was. I remember not understanding and feeling sad because they "made this big deal about this guy Pedro being sick". And I was just upset and didn't understand "why doesn't he just go to a doctor and get medicine". So my parents and siblings took time to talk to me about what his disease meant. And of course, something like that is scary to a young child. But I am glad that is how I learned. it guided my decisions through my teen years and beyond such as protected sex and not sharing needles or doing drugs in the first place. not that Pedro was a drug addict or anything, but I just mean I learned about how people share needles and stuff and that spreads the disease.
I remember watching this. I was 14 when he died and he was my favorite person on the real world. Can’t believe it has been 28 years and I always wonder what he’d be doing today if he still lived. Pedro was a wonderful guy with a very kind heart. So sad he passed at such a young age 🥹
I was just on Lombard Street today and reminded me of Real World San Francisco in the 90’z . Made me sad to remember Pedro Zamora and how he suffered towards the end. However, his work in his early years made an amazing impact on the world! We learned what HIV and AIDS were because of his education. Now that’s reality TV my friends. Not fighting but learning from one another. Still so sad but his life had a huge impact & purpose. RIP Pedro Zamora and thank you for educating us
Very touching video. I remember Pedro from the MTV show but I was only 11 when it came out, so I caught it around 1999 on reruns. I admire his strength and courage. A great human being.
I remember watching Pedro on MTV and seeing him slowly die from complications and it was the first time that I cared for someone with HIV or AIDS. He was SO beautiful in all ways and I fell in love with him in ways.
The Real World was one of the shows I never ever missed. The cast with Pedro really effected me. He was a very brave and genuine person!!! He definitely left a mark on my life. I hope he is resting easy. ❤❤❤
Disgusting that the Zamora family denied Sean the opportunity to see Pedro because the family said that Pedro didn't "need a lover." He wasn't treated as a partner, but as just a fuck buddy. Pedro couldn't even speak up against his family. How horrible it must have been to be shunned like that.
My God his CD4 Cells were 32?! My God! It's amazing he wasn't in the hospital sooner. I had an ex boyfriend that currently has AIDS & his cells after the stress of his diagnosis & the strain it put on our relationship in him almost infecting me went down from 92 to 76 in 1 week then down to 42 the week after. He unlike Pedro DID recover but was damn near at death's door. I think it's time for young & old people to rediscover that AIDS is NO joke & is nothing to play with for a 10 sec orgasm.
@@NeroMC : Well, on a spiritual level, I thank God first & foremost. Even with all I've been through in life He's always protected me in what COULD have happened. On a physical level my ex's CD4's were low, but so was his viral load. It was a rare & interesting case for his doctors cause when a person is in the final stages towards death the virus will increase to very high concentrated levels in the blood. Maybe to increase infection from the dying host in bleeding from various areas before & after death in the body shutting down. He came back from the brink of death in having toxoplasmosis, mouth sores, & other opportunistic infections. He also should be grateful God was present in extending his life. Not everyone got that chance as we see here.
Yikes. You sound like a horrific narcissist. Something tells me that story us totally made up for attention, too. Maybe your man-made god shouldn’t have invented hiv to torture his ‘creations’ for amusement. Just my 2 cents.

I can't stop crying. I was only in elementary school when all this was happening, but his influence has transcended beyond his lifetime. He is definantly an inspiration, even today. And to everyone that is spouting this hate on here, all I can say is, what have you done to make the world a better place. Nothing, well I guess you will just fade away and be forgotten then. In the end it is the good and kind who make the biggest impact. Who make the world worth living in.
Pedro's spirit and work live and he is Resting Peacefully. He was never offended by moronic statements. He practically welcomed them. He viewed them as challenges to reach the next generation. There will always be ignorance, but if he could plant a seed or chip away at the stereotype then he saw that as a net gain. Thanks for your thoughts.
If only he could have been given ART medication, hed probably still be alive today. It came out right at this very time. I was diagnosed in 02, was put on ART,and have been undetectable with a good cd4 count the whole time. Now we are getting much closer to CURING HIV/AIDS with gene therapy! RIP Pedro, youre a beautiful soul.😢❤
I'm finding it so hard to watch this; in a different country, different culture and different society. How much has the world changed in 20 years! and it is so powerful to think that this man died younger than I am now. So strong, he'd be so proud how his legacy is still living on decades later.

The most precious and breathtaking moments to me were watching Pedro and his mother with him at the end of his life. She lived a parent’s worst nightmare, but she knew her son was scared, confused and that he knew he didn’t have long. She always smiled at him. She kept stroking his hair. She squeezed on her son’s sweet face. At one point, she held his hands and did a little dance to make him laugh. She could’ve behaved like she was feeling inside. She could’ve done what she probably FELT like doing, holding onto him in desperation and sobbed uncontrollably. But I watched this woman and she looked like she was doing everything she could do to keep things lighthearted and that he needed to feel that everything was going to be okay. It makes me very happy that Pedro had that comfort at the last part of his life.
I was a teen during this season and this is still just so sad especially since it is no longer a death sentence. He I am sure saved many lives with his work.

Nearly 30 years later I am watching this in tears. He was robbed of life but he made such an enormous impact with what little time he had. May we all aspire to love and care for each other as he did.
he was a human but definitely an angel indisguised. This was a chosen one sent from heaven to experience life and teach everyone around him a greater lesson. I am so sick of seeing religious people say " I Am the chosen one" But yet you have not done ANYTHING to change the world in a positive way, the only thing you've done was feed the hatred, ignorance and bigotry and we all know the creator who reigns in heaven is not of that energy. 22 was young but he shared and dealt with so much.
I got few of these on tape from then...i loved the real world back then, i was rooting for him ....I loved Pedro he was such a lovely guy was so sad when heard he died was gutted i know i didnt know him or anything but it doesnt matter i could see he was one of lifes decent people!!!
@1:44 you can see that fake smile slipping, empathy lacks this one does. Also love the Doc "it's more difficult to treat" and the voice over "PML is not treatable".
Crying in the club (my room) in 2024. As a 22 year old gay man this just made me realize how many people like Pedro fought and died so I could live so freely today 💗
Pedro was my favorite such a inspiration he was it’s a shame he passed away from aids but he lives on never forgotten he fought the good fight with aids.
all i know about pedro is a person who lived with aids, educator, gud speaker and a gud person but i feel like i know him more than that and he change my thought about hiv/aids and people who live with the disease.. he reach out many people by that time and i believe he still reach many people until now including me. "people who live with hiv is just like u, u dont have to b afraid with them" -pedro
Thank you so muxh for sharing this! Pedro had a great affect on me as a teenager. Im so glad there are all these videos so we can all look back and rwmind ourselves how great he was. Where is part 4?
I lost a good friend to muscular dystrophy at 20 I can relate. I miss my friend James Williams. Pedro I also miss everyday also. 10 20 30 40 50 60 is to young to go
Pedro Zamora I would say was the cuban/latino version of Ryan White. Pedro definitely brought awareness not only about AIDS but also about many other yet misunderstood health issues, relationships, cultures etc, and help stop the social stigmas that surround them.
Mannn I was a 14 yr old kid at this time (45 now uhhhhg) also a closeted baby lesbian lol real world was my life at the time n I’ll never forget watching Pedro n Sean’s journey it def helped me b proud of who I was.. lookin back at 1994 I can’t believed how natural n mature the younger generation was wtf happened 🤷🏽♀️
Pedro seemed like he would have been a cool friend. Sean Sasser died the exact day my daughter was being born. “Freedom or jail, clips inserted, a baby's being born Same time my man is murdered, the beginning and end.” -NAS
This is really hard to watch. I have lost 3 family members and 2 very close friends to aids. Please don't be disrespectful because it is a very hard thing to watch someone you love go through
@brianquintana7 Thoughts and prayers to the Zamora family from a black, straight, conservative Catholic man. Let me also say that ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL, AND WE ARE ALL GOD'S PEOPLE.
I miss the old school real world where they tackled real life issues, worked together, and had a message. It wasn’t about all of the drinking, fighting and sex. I was 11 when introduced to Pedro and his story taught me so much.
So sad, many Pedro will always be loved and remembered. Does anyone know the song played at the end ? starts at 7:50 , whenever i hear this i always remember about this video and Pedro.♥
rest in peace pedro. i just watched a real world san francisco episode with you in it. you were really great in that episode and i like the message that you sent out to viewers. puck was wrong to treat you like shit in that episode.i never liked puck to begin with. anyways rest in peace pedro. you are very missed indeed. real world wasnt the same since you died.
This season was absolutely the BEST with Pedro. This to me was reality tv, the dynamics between the various people here were so real & genuinely unique other than the piece of shit "puck" character. The garbage they call "reality" tv couldn't nor wouldn't hold a candle to this show. It was the only one of it's kind & this season with Pedro in it made it that much more amazing in life's everyday struggles & joys on camera.
This guy was still a kid when he died that's sad, karma will visit all who mock this guy's story. Yes that's a curse. Fk around with it if you want to. See how it works out for you.

he was a human but definitely an angel indisguised.
Sean Sasser, Age 44, Pedro's partner in this video, passed away in 2013 from a rare lung disease. He too was HIV positive....
Thank you Faith. I was wondering about Sean. They interviewed everyone but I didn't see Sean. I know he was an important part of Pedro's life.
Beautiful soul
all i know about pedro is a person who lived with aids, educator, gud speaker and a gud person but i feel like i know him more than that and he change my thought about hiv/aids and people who live with the disease.. he reach out many people by that time and i believe he still reach many people until now including me. "people who live with hiv is just like u, u dont have to b afraid with them" -pedro
just learned about Pedro...my heart is breaking watching this video
Thank you so muxh for sharing this! Pedro had a great affect on me as a teenager. Im so glad there are all these videos so we can all look back and rwmind ourselves how great he was. Where is part 4?
He died at 22 so sad
I lost a good friend to muscular dystrophy at 20 I can relate.
I miss my friend
James Williams.
Pedro I also miss everyday also.
10 20 30 40 50 60 is to young to go
His so sweet 💔
If he could've only held on another year or so til we had protease inhibitors, maybe he could still be with us today.
RIP Pedro, what a great person. I'm watching the old Real Worlds right now.
Wow I watched this when I was a young teenager. I remember this to this day and I'm now 40. I remember thinking what a cool looking dude he was.
That was his roommate, I wonder if they were ever involved?
I do remember this story in the '80s... Very unfortunate to happen to this vivacious young man.... Sending much love for Miami...
Pedro Zamora I would say was the cuban/latino version of Ryan White. Pedro definitely brought awareness not only about AIDS but also about many other yet misunderstood health issues, relationships, cultures etc, and help stop the social stigmas that surround them.
Those eyes! Oh those eyes!
In that day and age both topics that pedro had. Were huge huge
The name of the song beginning at 5:21 is "Out of Tears" by Rolling Stones.
@3:50 that is Alex Escarano...unfortunately he also passed away about three years later after Pedro' s death, he also died from complications of AIDS
This is really hard to watch. I have lost 3 family members and 2 very close friends to aids. Please don't be disrespectful because it is a very hard thing to watch someone you love go through
Though I walk through the valley of tears, and the mountains of sorrow, I will not fear, for I am at peace.
God bless Pedro

@brianquintana7 Thoughts and prayers to the Zamora family from a black, straight, conservative Catholic man. Let me also say that ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL, AND WE ARE ALL GOD'S PEOPLE.
I miss the old school real world where they tackled real life issues, worked together, and had a message. It wasn’t about all of the drinking, fighting and sex.
I was 11 when introduced to Pedro and his story taught me so much.
I remember Pedro.
heartbreaking.....rip pedro
Just think if he was 10yrs older he would have a much better chance
The 90’s music is tripping me out. (Deep Forest?!? Jeeeezzz...☺️)

Oh omg!😭
rest in peace pedro. i just watched a real world san francisco episode with you in it. you were really great in that episode and i like the message that you sent out to viewers. puck was wrong to treat you like shit in that episode.i never liked puck to begin with.
anyways rest in peace pedro. you are very missed indeed. real world wasnt the same since you died.
This season was absolutely the BEST with Pedro. This to me was reality tv, the dynamics between the various people here were so real & genuinely unique other than the piece of shit "puck" character. The garbage they call "reality" tv couldn't nor wouldn't hold a candle to this show. It was the only one of it's kind & this season with Pedro in it made it that much more amazing in life's everyday struggles & joys on camera.
still so sad
Pretty eyes 😘
So fucking sad to catch a disease like that just because you made love to someone damn
happy birthday
❤❤❤😢😢😢😢
This guy was still a kid when he died that's sad, karma will visit all who mock this guy's story. Yes that's a curse. Fk around with it if you want to. See how it works out for you.
un bon film pour la vie de pedro que son âme repose en paix
