Pedro's death is one of those rare memorable moments in my life where I still remember the day I heard about it and where i was 30 years later. Gone far too soon. He was an amazing human being.

I remember being the same age as Pedro while watching the show in 1994. He changed the way I viewed things, and because of the diverse cast it opened my eyes to a fuller way of living.

It was so strange to hear him say that HIV/AIDS was a death sentence bc he was right. Wow unbelievable how far things have come. My daughter is 27 and she doesn’t realize how serious it was/is . Her brother in law is HIV positive and she just doesn’t think it’s a big deal. But it IS still IMPORTANT. I hate to see people get numb to this, I know things have come so far that now people can live a full life span being HIV positive but it’s just not over, it’s not. I lived through the 80’s when it began to get so much attention bc it was running rampant, I remember the sad stories and the heartbreak of the families and friends of those who were deceased or actively sick and suffering. RIP to those who have passed from AIDS.

Pedro was four years older than me in 1994. MTV made a bold move. Pedro represented us young gays on tv for all to see, it just wasn’t wonderful that he was infected. But he spoke to us. He reminded his peers of our generation that we weren’t invincible. He educated millions on tv every week. Pedro became the face of Gen-X with AIDS, and we all paid attention. Pedro was a hero. I wish he had made it to 1996.

Can gay people donate blood? Because when I go to donate blood, they ask me if I have had sex with a man who has had sex with other men? Like, why would that matter?

    • @thetechlibrarian

I think they can not sure but it’ll they are basically asking you if your engaging in high risk activity

I don't understand...how did he gets HIV/AIDS ? And why do so many gay men have HIV AIDS and/ or multiple STDs and STIs? Does it have something to do with being gay?

Ryan White was probably infected by someone like Pedro. Ryan White didn't have a choice. Pedro did. I will always be much more sympathetic to Ryan White.

AIDS is AIDS no one chooses to have their life affected like that and possibly die accident or not. There are people born with HIV and people who get infected either way it's a shitty life. Shame on you.
