After season 1, I wanted the reboot to have dramatic storylines to elevate the characters, but I overall like the direction of the second season. I still think the show is missing a dramatic edge tho
I think it would have been better if Carly had to build it back up from 0, rather than somehow iCarly just instantly still being popular despite it years of hiatus and cultural shift for the internet. Like if that was the plot itself underneath the comedy. Like the Social Network movie but with iCarly humor. If that was the plot, it would have been much more intersting, consistent and vastly improve on the original show.
I really loved how this season turned out, it was a really great step up from season 1. Like you said tho, there are a few things that could make season 3 that much better. I felt the same way about the internet nuance, that is one area that could be improved apon. Anyway, I really enjoyed your thoughts on this season, you were pretty much the reason I watched the reboot last year and I'm really glad I did, its been an amazing experience. Thank you as always Jordan!
My main criticisms of the show: - The writing this season was a little too explanatory (I.e Someone randomly walks into a room and instantly starts explaining what the writers should present to us). I can see how it can be difficult though because it's a 20-24 minute show. - Laughtrack was mildly used too much or at the wrong points. -The pacing of this season felt rushed at points. (Best example is the Drag Queen/Political Debate/Melon Slingshot episode. The DQ portion should have been the A plot and the Political Debate should be the B, but Millicent was supposed to shine way more in the debate part than she did. They slick didn't need the Spencer/Carly plot, they could have assisted with the other plots). - They shot the load too early in season 1 by having everyone complete their campaign mode too early to me. Carly quickly got her numbers up after a couple of episodes, Harper went from barista to successful fashion designer in half a season, Spencer is excessively rich for no reason, Freddie went from IT help desk to the owner of a successful business quick as hell, and Millicent is basically super awesome with no real character flaw. - Side characters can be hit or miss (I.e Hit: Paul Miss: Kid at debate and Derek) My main praise of the show: - Josh Peck brought great energy to the show and they utilized him well. Good to see he's still in good form - Harper's character did indeed feel more natural this season and that paid off regularly throughout the episodes as JF said - Freddie actually had the best character arc this season and can make the argument that he's the MVP of the season - The web show didn't forcefully show us iCarly content like I feel last season did. Frankly, the show itself isn't as important as their 2007-2013 show was, but the behind the scenes stuff is what makes the episodes now (The lawsuit episode, the escape room episode, the influencer fight club episode, etc) - They truly casted 5 great main characters for the show and they play their roles well What I expect from Season 3: - Millicent starts becoming more of a teen and Freddie's relationship in that space - They limit the different romantic partners aspects of the show because now that everyone has had some form of romance, Freddie and Carly's should be the primary one. - ICarly to actually use more current tech and trends like JF also said - Carly becoming more of a rebel than her prior self. (She shows glimpses, but she always reverts back, she gotta fully make trait changes). - More Paul and less nostalgic characters because they basically reintroduced all the ones we were curious about except for Sam and Gibby already. Solid season and great video JF!
I mean it makes sense why Carly was able to get her numbers back up so quickly, the web-show won a world record, a reward for best comedy in the Japan special, had guest like the Plain White T’s , One Direction and Michelle Obama, been on Jimmy Fallon, Carly did a charity boxing match with a MMA champion and has directed a music video along with a live stage performance all before graduating high school. So Carly deciding to start the show back up would draw in tons of people.
I absolutely love the improvements they made. But I still do think they should make the transition more interesting because the original used video editor UI for the transition which I find cool. They could modernize it just like the title card. Also, maybe this is just me but the lack of background music can make certain scenes feel too quiet, like when Carly tries to slingshot a fruit at a dummy (but ended up hitting Spencer instead). But overall it's just a feel good show.
Please don’t tell me I’m the only one who thought Beau and Wes we’re going to start dating and that was gonna be the big twist at the end of the first episode
I’d like to see you dive into Fuller house and the way it ended. Full house was a big part of tv growing up in the 90’s. I liked your break down of season 2 of this show. You had a great narrative.
I think what Milhouse said sums up how Fredy feels. “You Don't want me to be with you; you don't want me to be with someone else. How miserable do I have to be before you're happy?”
Something that I would like them to do is a cameo scene of Sam played by a different actress. Preferably it would be a flashback when they were younger and all different actors play them as younger versions of themselves.
I dunno, this season felt more directionless. More standalone except for the Creddie elements of the premiere and the finale. Probably even less actual web show than season 1 gave us, but did continue on the social media events
@@JordanFringe94 Though yeah after I wrote this I somehow forgot about the Paul aspects (which served the influencer side but also fed into Carly and Freddie’s adult dynamic, romantic or not)
I honestly don't know why people like the show for being so all over the place, and it never really sticking to its original premise any more, its just literally some random situation they just end, and it does nothing to improve or expand the characters at all. All their lives were off screen.
I love the hair they give Harper and Milicent. If it's not obvious already Milicent is biracial and they could've just put it in a dusty bun but they take time with her hair. Harper had the braids last season and this season she was rocking that sew in with leave out they either hired black stylists or Lacey in between episodes is sitting Jordyn down and pulling out that comb, hair grease and detangle brush. Either way A+👌🏿🔥🔥 Even Freddie got an upgrade, season 1 looked like a toupee I thought he was going bald and it was a combover. Nothing wrong with bald dudes btw.
Don’t really watch the show but i think a interesting story line that shows modern internet trends could be about sponsorships! Like interacting with ridiculous brands
They have done that. Carly promotes a health drinks brand that turns out to be a pyramid scheme. And I think she also is forced to promote a creative safe space for women that turns out to be like a cult
I enjoyed this season far more than the last season… the way they brought back more of the wacky comedy the was a big part of the OG series really stuck the landing for me this time around.
i think what i like the most is that they didn't try to get the same age group as before but the people that watched it as kids. the kids that are adults now
yeah iCarly got better this season! I'm hoping for season 3! Also I can't put my finger on it, but Harper's giving me Raven Baxter vibes and I love it!
Season 2 was absolutely incredible. I enjoyed it so much more than season 1. Season 1 was fine, and got better over time, but here everything just clicked. Harper has become a great highlight of the show too, and Spencer is still incredible. Super excited for season 3
I was seeing the potential in the show and what it should be last season, but watching the first episode it just felt natural. Nothing felt forced and it was a nice progression and really did everything I liked from season 1 10x better. I didn’t watch the rest of the season yet, but I don’t care about spoilers for the show all that much, but I honestly can’t wait to watch the rest. I honestly was a little hesitant at first getting back into it, but I definitely feel comfortable with where it’s going
Same! The og show was so mean spirited and the Dan Schneider weirdness just made it worse. This show improved on Carly's character and finally did good things for Freddie!
@@7604zm i know it sucks that her character isn't in the reboot, but jeanette mccurdy has legit reasons for not wanting to be in it. plus, harper is just as good of a character if not better
Maybe I’ve just been busy or not as plugged in, but this is legit the first I’ve heard about season 2. Come to find out the whole season already aired haha. Glad to hear it’s improving!
Been waiting on this video :) Glad you shared some carly/Spencer bits i missed from the drag queen episode i didn’t watch lol Not interested in that lol Great season overall, and the cliffhanger has me excited for what’s to come in (hopefully) a season 3
Thank you for continuing your crusade in satisfying my curiosity over the revival without me having to actually watch it. Edit: I'm glad it seems to improve from the first season. I might give it a go now!
Keep killing it bro, I told you a few months ago this will be a 1mil sub channel, and seemingly with every video you manage to improve. Love your content!!!
I’m more comfortable with Creddie this time around before it was just poor Fredddie and idiot Carly while his chemistry with Sam always had me as a Seddie shipper, so I’m cool with this since Jeanette Mccurdy has hrr own healing path to go on.
8:30 Don't apologize, most of us know that Spencer is the Atlas that carries the show on his back, and I wouldn't mind if he becomes the main character and Carly the side character.
I actually really enjoyed season 1. I didn't love it compared to the original (which you was partly responsible for me watching lol) but it's good! That said a few things ruined it a bit for me. Carly somehow can't find love....like REALLY...HOW!!! It's just too frustrating. Also Freddie's kid is a constant harasser. Also not enough iCarly internet stuff.
I didnt like it because of how forced it seemed, Carly just ends up doing dates with generic, teen models rather than developing real chemistry with characters on the show. I mean did she really need a love triangle with 2 guys who were barely on the show. And the fact that Freddie's character was always just a loser in the first season. I like that they fixed it by giving him something to actually focus on when he tried to start that app. They can play it off as post-divorce identity crisis I guess and Milicent not used to living with him full time. Season 1 justsemed to use a lot of the flaws in the later seasons of theoriginal show and it shown in why it didn't carry it for people.
Really like the two seasons they put out but this last finale was too abrupt of an ending wanted a little more personally, so I hope it gets renewed but idk how popular the show really is now
Really amazing review overall! Personally I liked season 1 of the revival more than season 2. I did love seeing Josh Peck finally appear in this show but it was kind of weird to have 1 episode in the middle where he wasn’t in it even though he was only confirmed for 2 appearances. Having more of the focus on Freddie this time around was an added bonus. Still looking forward to season 3 but season 1 just felt more fresh and unique.
While I enjoyed the first season of the revival, I do agree that season 2 was a big improvement. I think there was only one episode I really didn't care for --- but otherwise I thought it was great. I feel like a lot more of the jokes landed with me than they did in the first season. Plus the actor chemistry, especially with the new characters, seemed a lot more fluid and natural. It was nice to see more meaningful character development and plot progression as well.
I personally really loved season 1 I feel like it did some pretty good set up while being a bit drawn out and slow and season 2s finale brought my favorite episode of the entire franchise. So I look forward to season 3 highly. I just hope like the og they keep this upward improvement. Season 1 and 2 of the og feel similar as they felt slow with specific elements and season 3 and 4 really built up that magic so I hope season 3 of this verison of icarly brings the magic. It's also nice to hear that the cast and writers have discussed how they're ready to take these stories take off in the next season which seems super promising.
I just wish the show stopped trying SO HAAAAARD trying to show us that they are grownups, like goddamn we know, we know you're grown, no need to remind us every 15 minutes, it feels like a watered down how i met your mother or big bang theory.
Isn´t it crazy that Miranda Cosgrove and Josh Peck have been working together on TV for almost 20 years by now? Must be crazy to share again screen with someone you have known for so long.
For me Sam was the i for iCarly, without her the show needed a restructure so it could seriously resemble the old show with the adult edge, and we finally got it.
I liked seeing Guppy and Lwebert back yay was cool but this Season is idk, alright at best. But Spencer lightning something on fire out of nowhere was classic.
I really really hope season 3 will be released. It was definitely on the up during season 2. I honestly love Harper as a character that isn't confined by the nostalgia driven lead cast. Millicent for what it's worth is more Sams replacement than Harper but being Freddie's daughter means she COULD have a meaningful plot line.
It's interesting to see the comment section here has a majority opinion that season 2 is better, as other spaces on the internet I've seen have been a lot more mixed, with many who prefer season 1. Personally I like both for different reasons, my only complaint for season 2 is that it didn't have bigger overall arcs across the season like the first did. But the overall feel of this season was definitely more confident. I hope season 3 has the same confidence as season 2 but brings back the ever so slightly serialised structure season 1 had.
When you mentioned including comments on the screen I realized that few, if any, internet-based mediums actually characterize internet crowds, instead using comments as a set piece. It would be slow and gradual but I think it could work
Until I saw this video recommended I didnt even know season 2 was out yet 0.0 then I binged it in a night. It was definitely better then season 2! I also did not expect seeing Josh Peck show up in the show and that was definitely a great surprise
When this show was becoming a thing, the theme I got when they talked about it was that this show was meant to grow up with us. When we watched iCarly, we were the same ages as the kids. Years later now, we are adults with them, so of course it’s hard because they last made the show as kids and did the content towards kids. Now they have to do it tailored to adults, but adults who grew up with the series. It just needs to find it’s hold.
Season three I haven’t seen two yet but as you said it’s kinda setting up Carly and Freddie’s relationship so if a season three maybe a mixture of focusing On the channel and there romance maybe
It definitely addressed the issue I had with the show. Where I really didn't care about the string of dates Carly had or the pretty superficial love triangles but I applaud that Freddie and Pearl felt more in tone with how relationships were portrayed in the original than any of Carly's that came off half-backed, shallow and lacked humor. While Freddie realizes his relationship's traction with Pearl, but it isnt the main focus of his character. It feels like it more naturally happens. So I agree from this retrospect that the writing is significantly better this time around.

Dude the classic commercials and bumpers always give me a little bit of extra life
I really loved how this season turned out, it was a really great step up from season 1.
My main criticisms of the show:
- The writing this season was a little too explanatory (I.e Someone randomly walks into a room and instantly starts explaining what the writers should present to us).
- Side characters can be hit or miss (I.e Hit: Paul Miss: Kid at debate and Derek)
My main praise of the show:
- Josh Peck brought great energy to the show and they utilized him well. Good to see he's still in good form
- Harper's character did indeed feel more natural this season and that paid off regularly throughout the episodes as JF said
- Freddie actually had the best character arc this season and can make the argument that he's the MVP of the season
- The web show didn't forcefully show us iCarly content like I feel last season did. Frankly, the show itself isn't as important as their 2007-2013 show was, but the behind the scenes stuff is what makes the episodes now (The lawsuit episode, the escape room episode, the influencer fight club episode, etc)
- They truly casted 5 great main characters for the show and they play their roles well
What I expect from Season 3:
- Millicent starts becoming more of a teen and Freddie's relationship in that space
- They limit the different romantic partners aspects of the show because now that everyone has had some form of romance, Freddie and Carly's should be the primary one.
- ICarly to actually use more current tech and trends like JF also said
- Carly becoming more of a rebel than her prior self.
To be fair, spencer has always been rich for no real reason IIRC.
Yessss, I’ve been waiting for this!!
You never disappoint, keep up the great work!!
Appreciate ya dude, thank you!
Yes the music is whats missing. The transition music did added to that feel good mood
I love original full house one my favorite shows!
I think what Milhouse said sums up how Fredy feels.
“You Don't want me to be with you;
you don't want me to be with
someone else. How miserable do I
have to be before you're happy?”
Thanks for including that joke Spencer did. I haven't laughed that hard since Gabe Iglesias did his Chris Rock impression on his Netflix show.
Something that I would like them to do is a cameo scene of Sam played by a different actress. Preferably it would be a flashback when they were younger and all different actors play them as younger versions of themselves.
That could happen. This season had younger actors for Freddie, Spencer and Carly for a small flashback scene
I dunno, this season felt more directionless. More standalone except for the Creddie elements of the premiere and the finale. Probably even less actual web show than season 1 gave us, but did continue on the social media events
That's fair, I am hoping a season 3 can get the right tone fully with more purpose
Spencer aged like an anime character
I love the hair they give Harper and Milicent. If it's not obvious already Milicent is biracial and they could've just put it in a dusty bun but they take time with her hair. Harper had the braids last season and this season she was rocking that sew in with leave out they either hired black stylists or Lacey in between episodes is sitting Jordyn down and pulling out that comb, hair grease and detangle brush. Either way A+👌🏿🔥🔥
Even Freddie got an upgrade, season 1 looked like a toupee I thought he was going bald and it was a combover. Nothing wrong with bald dudes btw.
I like to think that freddie went infinite and beyond to learn how to do her hair and now she is learning from him
Don’t really watch the show but i think a interesting story line that shows modern internet trends could be about sponsorships! Like interacting with ridiculous brands
They have done that. Carly promotes a health drinks brand that turns out to be a pyramid scheme. And I think she also is forced to promote a creative safe space for women that turns out to be like a cult
It feels weirdly nostalgic to me because the first season is how I found your channel in the first place.
Towards the latter half of the series, Harper really grew on me. The actress is so talented and just really funny
The latter half 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
@@StankyLegss Its a pretty common phrase bro. You good?
I enjoyed this season far more than the last season… the way they brought back more of the wacky comedy the was a big part of the OG series really stuck the landing for me this time around.
Dude the old school Nick commercial break in between ad roll was so awesome, wish my content creators did something like this
i think what i like the most is that they didn't try to get the same age group as before but the people that watched it as kids. the kids that are adults now
yeah iCarly got better this season!
Harper makes me laugh more & more. Her line delivery is so great!
Just wanted to say, love the short little transition clips, making it feel like I’m actually watching a tv show/review. The nostalgia is sweet.
I actually like this show way more than the original icarly. Freddy really carries the show for me though, I think.
Same! The og show was so mean spirited and the Dan Schneider weirdness just made it worse. This show improved on Carly's character and finally did good things for Freddie!
No, sorry. Can’t without Sam.
@@7604zm i didn't like her in the original either so I'm fine without her being there. Freddy and Spencer are the real stars in the reboot anyway
@@7604zm i know it sucks that her character isn't in the reboot, but jeanette mccurdy has legit reasons for not wanting to be in it. plus, harper is just as good of a character if not better
I may be to high and I have never watched this show other than this video but... 19:58 that is Barney's apartment from how i met your mother
When the world needed him most, he returned
Edit to add: NO GRANDAD IS SO OLD NOW, MY HEART!!!
Lmao
Maybe I’ve just been busy or not as plugged in, but this is legit the first I’ve heard about season 2. Come to find out the whole season already aired haha. Glad to hear it’s improving!
I just now noticed the “directed by Melissa Joan Hart” label. how interesting!
I still support the idea of Jennet coming back for one episode just to play Melanie…
Same
if she played Melanie i would scream
She quit acting and for a good reason
Great video. Binge watched the whole series in 2 days. Plus today. Congratulations on 300K!
Thanks so much!
@@JordanFringe94 You're welcome!
literally every time jerry trainor was on screen it felt and reminded me i was watching icarly
Been waiting on this video :)
Glad you shared some carly/Spencer bits i missed from the drag queen episode i didn’t watch lol
Not interested in that lol
Great season overall, and the cliffhanger has me excited for what’s to come in (hopefully) a season 3
Omg just realized my comment is in your video! Thanks 😊
Thank you for continuing your crusade in satisfying my curiosity over the revival without me having to actually watch it.
Edit: I'm glad it seems to improve from the first season. I might give it a go now!
I was wondering when you were going to talk about Icarly again glad you’re back to talk about it
Keep killing it bro, I told you a few months ago this will be a 1mil sub channel, and seemingly with every video you manage to improve. Love your content!!!
Thank you for actually caring about where the ads are
The aftermath to Creddie finding out they're allegedly in love with one another in a few hours omg
No Jayniac flexing on us 😂😂 LOTS OF LOVE FOR THIS REVIEW THANK YOU ❤️🙏🏾
I’m more comfortable with Creddie this time around before it was just poor Fredddie and idiot Carly while his chemistry with Sam always had me as a Seddie shipper, so I’m cool with this since Jeanette Mccurdy has hrr own healing path to go on.
8:30 Don't apologize, most of us know that Spencer is the Atlas that carries the show on his back, and I wouldn't mind if he becomes the main character and Carly the side character.
Why does everyone look pretty much exactly like they did in the original ICarly except for Freddy who look 2x as old
I actually really enjoyed season 1.
Glad to see you back at the ICarly, Jordan!!!
There was a reboot of iCarly?
God damn, I hate these region locked streaming services.
Time to set sail again, arrr.
I love your videos so much Jordan Fringe keep up the good work man
It's surreal seeing Harper again after seeing her in Better Call Saul.
Knowing Carly didn’t flop makes me happy inside
And it’s not even bad people just have different tastes of nostalgia
Can’t go into it thinking it’ll be the same
Wait episode 10 was the last episode of the season??? What a cliffhanger to end on then lol
Is no one gonna talk about how he times the ad perfectly
Ayyyy I saw that Halloween complete collection 🤙🏿🤙🏿
I'm really enjoying this show. I hope it gets renewed for a 3rd season!
Wait so that major cliffhanger was the end of the season??? Wtf?
I really think Freddy's haircut was the biggest improvement by far
I just wish the show stopped trying SO HAAAAARD trying to show us that they are grownups, like goddamn we know, we know you're grown, no need to remind us every 15 minutes, it feels like a watered down how i met your mother or big bang theory.
Isn´t it crazy that Miranda Cosgrove and Josh Peck have been working together on TV for almost 20 years by now? Must be crazy to share again screen with someone you have known for so long.
For me Sam was the i for iCarly, without her the show needed a restructure so it could seriously resemble the old show with the adult edge, and we finally got it.
8:53 that is pretty funny and I especially loved the joke of that angry guy from an April fool's Day episode of SpongeBob YOU WHAT!
I love your ads format 😂
I liked seeing Guppy and Lwebert back yay was cool but this Season is idk, alright at best. But Spencer lightning something on fire out of nowhere was classic.
I'm really hoping there will be a WAIT...Remember video on the Discovery Kids shows
Like Kenny the Shark, Tutenstein, and Time Warp Trio
Memories unlocked
Yes! Don’t forget Flight 29 Down as well ^^
I really really hope season 3 will be released. It was definitely on the up during season 2. I honestly love Harper as a character that isn't confined by the nostalgia driven lead cast. Millicent for what it's worth is more Sams replacement than Harper but being Freddie's daughter means she COULD have a meaningful plot line.
In my opinion the best episode of the season by far was the one where lubert sued Carly. That one was so funny to me😂
The best episode of the season!
Agreed. The Cameos were top tier
Do you feel like making a ahhh monsters video soon cause that thing was like one of my favorite show back when I was younger
Was that... Jake from State Farm at 10:43?
When you mentioned including comments on the screen I realized that few, if any, internet-based mediums actually characterize internet crowds, instead using comments as a set piece. It would be slow and gradual but I think it could work
I didn't even knew season 2 came out!! Awesome bro
I lost it when I saw Chuck🤣🤣🤣🤣
Season three I haven’t seen two yet but as you said it’s kinda setting up Carly and Freddie’s relationship so if a season three maybe a mixture of focusing On the channel and there romance maybe
Are you gonna cover season 3?
of course
Season 3 is by far the best season
I just noticed that in this moment the views and subscriber numbers are the same
You know I gotta subscribe just for the “look it’s the ad part… interesting.” 😂
The pilot joke caught me so off guard
Everyone's faces look too clean. Damn that show makeup is working some magic lol
I guess in it's own weird way, season 1 was the introduction to the characters, and then season 2 started actually being about iCarly
Huh. I really did NOT expect. To be pleasantly surprised and actually intrigued about a reboot, EVER
Absolutely love the midroll ad transitions 😂
