I really liked the revival. Other then that, I really enjoyed the series, and I can’t wait for season 2.
Which is exactly why they should’ve just made the show around Carly just being an influencer which a lot of older TH-camrs have developed to be in recent years rather than starting the show back up. I would be happy believing she doesn’t do bits and stuff on a stage and just vlogs, does ads, tutorials and goes on live
I like that you guys talked about the lack of prelevancy of the web show. That's my biggest ??? with everything. The whole time, I was basically waiting for it to show up and matter, but it never really did.
my main problem is how they made Freddie seem so dumb and clueless in the reboot. in the original, he was super smart, but in this one it almost seems like he was just used for comic relief and was portrayed as easily manipulated and unable to make educated decisions by himself.
You know what would be interesting, you and jayniac could review Sam and cat together. You could mainly talk about Sam while jayniac would talk about cat's character, just an idea tho
In regards to Jayniac Jrs idea of Victorious characters appearing in iCarly, I personally keep imagining a scenario where Freddie runs into Victorious Justice character but can't tell if she's Tori Vega or Shelby Marx from iFight Shelby Marx. One other note on Millicent; her character premise of being a rival to Carly over web shows was never really explored. We've seen her develop a sense of entrepreneurship and at one point give a subtle aspiration to be a congresswoman, but nothing about her having a webshow to compete against iCarly (not that we saw a whole lot of the actual iCarly webshow at all anyway.)
The Tori Vega/Shelby Marx idea is amazing! I can't see Cat coming back simply because Ariana Grade is doing so many things with her music and most likely would not agree to revive her role as Cat. There is no way.
I liked the season! I think that, like all beginnings, the characters have adapted to what is best for the audience. A great example is the behavior of Millicent, from being an unbearable girl to being a good girl and sometimes cute. I think the season ended with each character well placed and ready for further development. I just hope it keeps the full intro to the series, that's a HUGE detail.
You know... I just want to put this out there... End of Season cliffhanger based on Main character needing to respond to 2 people confessing love to them.... Community did it better.
I'm going to miss iCarly thursdays so much... it just hit me. Thanks for your hard work, Jordan. I love your personality, so keep other vids coming and I'm sure the time between now and the next iCarly Thursday in the future will fly by :))
Miranda was on a podcast (Whitney Cumming’s) a few weeks ago and mentioned they struggle with the web show part as they don’t really know what to do with it! So i guess if u have any ideas then tweet at the writers :)
Well, that's just ridiculous. Why would they bother bringing back a series about a webshow if they didn't know what to do with it? What's next, they bring back Victorious, but no one ever sings or acts?
@@mauriceisaac3646 I'm in the camp that believes Victorious shouldve been brought back. Atleast we wouldve gotten the entire cast likely because as far as IK everyone seems down for it and they didnt get a proper ending
Season 2 needs a second Nevel episode where he divorced his wife. Then the whole marriage would make sense. Nevel is a character that follows his instinct in the moment, Just look at “iPity the Nevel” he’ll scream at a little girl, because she was a slight inconvenience, then he begs the world for forgiveness, and once he’s forgiven he forgets what he learned and screams at an old lady. So I can see Nevel dropping all his affection for Carly, as long as it only last a second and his affection comes back in full force All I need is a line like “I divorced that petty excuse of a wife” and I’ll be happy. Also now that Nora’s therapy didn’t work give us another “iPsycho” please
I didn't really watch iCarly when it was on originally, but this new series really blew my expectations away. I really look forward to more, honestly!!!
I definitely don't understand why the revival has almost no social media / streaming references and such. Like ... the original iCarly was before its time when it comes to the Internet and social media. So instead ... The revival is just going to ignore all that? How does Carly feel about challenge streamers? Influencers who grow famous with limited effort? Memes and parody videos? Even gaming content, like eSports? Idk it just feels like a glaring flaw to me.
She should have gone to college and gotten a degree by now. They should have shown her in some dead end position at a large media firm of some kind. That gives much more motivation behind Carly restarting the show. Show problems with monetization and censorship, and connect us with Carly on an emotional level. Freddie can continue chasing his tech startups, that's pretty good motivation and it also connects us with Freddie by emotion as well. He is a small business owner who is getting crushed. Anyone would root for him there.
@@shanekeenaNYC thats definitely what i was expecting! seeing carly reminisce about her old times, and also be insecure regarding her capability of hosting a show without sam, would've created a much stronger show!
I also really wonder how much the pandemic played into how the show turned out, wether that be who could and couldn't make it as potential guest appearances, storylines, social distancing guidelines and how that affects acting performances, etc. I'm really curious to see how things change with season 2!
The show was very...alright. Which is significantly better than I expected actually. There is a lot of room for it to grow and get better, but the realist in me says that it'll just stay at the alright level. And that's fine. "Alright" shows need to exist.
I personally say it was necessary because me and my wife knew the show growing up and now got to watch this together. so it was really fun being able to share the show with someone who was kind of watching it with you before you even knew they existed. 😋
From what I remember; Mcurdy flat out refused to come back and reprise her role. Something about her not liking her acting and not feeling fulfilled. She wanted to leave acting for awhile.
I was okay with the little focus on the webshow because I kept thinking how it parallels with some real life content creators. I feel like some YTers (esp. OG but also 'new' ones) started out being innovative and original and now go for less elaborate content like vlogs, streaming, podcasts etc. (not a bad thing, still requires the ability to entertain and they're allowed to move on to other stuff) while blending with the explosion of other growing creators. Early iCarly was sO qUiRkY and ahead of its time but I wouldn't be surprised if her current show is also just following trends (challenges etc) and more slice of life/personality focused content like how the reboot felt to me. Had a lot of fun watching it anyways, especially tackling subjects like MLMs. Enjoyed your videos Jordan, can't wait for season 2!
Hey jordan marcus back at it again with another comment. I just want to say thank you for making these icarly revival vids I truly meant that because I havent watch the full episodes yet because I don't have paramount plus but with your analysis your creativity makes me want to watch this show so thank you. I'm look forward to season 2 and your vids of that in the near future. Hope you see this man continue to make bangers left and right man take care and enjoy your day.
I agree that there were a lot of unnecessary references to things in the media which definitely will make it feel more dated. That’s something the original Icarly never did which is why I feel it has aged pretty well
Even in the Webicom episode the digital media aspect was ignored in favour of Carly relationship dilemma time. iPsycho managed to incorporate the webshow better by showing the loony fan angle.
Im not gonna lie, I DO NOT want a Victorious reboot. It just wouldn't work in my opinion. So much of that show is rooted in late two thousands-early twenty tens pop culture, not to mention in early social media, it would be MUCH harder to translate to the modern day.
It confused me why they would bring back nora, but not add her real life husband lewbert, and have their marriage be a cannon plot line because they were both nuts
Maybe they’re planning to bring back l’expert, they literally bringée back a lot of og characters in one season, the next one will obviously bring back the others 🥰
Maybe it has to with the fact that there's a HUGE age gap between the two (yes, I know the people who played the characters are married, even have a kid together, which I don't have a problem with, but that wouldn't really be enough for the audience to be very open to the idea of the writers transplanting that tidbit onto the characters).
@@dylantyrrell9084 ...That's not even remotely true. Danielle Morrow was born in 1993/94, which definitely puts her close to, if not in the exact age as Nora when she first played her in 2010. Unless you're talking about her appereance in the revival, in which case... what?
Nice video, there are a few things I'm hoping to see in Season 2................. 1) More of Carly doing her Web Show (as you mentioned) 2) Cameo of one or two Victorious characters 3) Carly making her mind up on which Guy she's more interested in (Wes or Beau) sooner rather than later. (Although based on the potential levels of fan interest to see the age old back and forth sub trope of the average Romantic Subplot, I won't be surprised if that storyline is dragged out) 4) At least one appearance of Gibby
I waited for the season to end before I started watching the episodes so that i could binge them all at once, and I will say that I loved this season of iCarly, I knowingly had no high expectations of the show, but I really enjoyed the journey that we experience with the old and new cast members! While sure, the plots didn't leave enough room for proper introductions of people like Wes, I'm still excited to see what they can bring in season 2. One thing I really don't mind is the lack of showing content on "iCarly", like sure the whole point was the webcast in the initial series, but now it feels good, in my opinion, to see how each of the cast members have grown and seeing into their new daily lives. Especially since it is only the first season back, perhaps there will be more to come of their webcasts on season 2! I didn't really hate Millicent in the beginning, I thought her characterization was actually really funny, like I love how she will roast Freddie, but Freddie still tries his hardest to be a great dad which I find endearing. Harper is one of my favorite characters in this revival! I really am hopeful for her possible relationship with Dutch :o Also! Beau >>>> Wes, I said what I said.
Good video. I understand the writers probably wanted to focus on the characters' social lives, but I think agree that them not expanding on the iCarly web show is a big missed opportunity. The web show as a common thread that also addresses things like the differences of being an influencer now verses 10 years ago, modern web culture, Carly having to rebuild her relevance again, or critique of social media could have all be interesting things that they could have done to give more range to the show than a new sitcom revisiting characters from our childhood. It would make the show more appealing to people who haven't watched the original show and help it stand out from other sitcoms. They only really had one episode that looked at these topics significantly. I enjoyed the iCarly revival. It did feel like the show was finding its footing throughout the season. Hopefully that development continues, so the show has more to stand on than just its nostalgia and its generally likable cast. Also I agree with Millicent. It was kind of hard to like her at first as she seemed to mostly just be a foil for Freddie, but they developed her as the show went on.
I've had that thought when the show first started as well. That they should have had the overall plot be that continual quest for Carly to try the ups and downs of find her relevance again, especially by herself without Sam and Freddie. That should have been the overall story for the series this time. Where as the B plots for the other characters should be just the random episodic stuff around it. Instead of Carly's relationships still being the main focus. Her B plots should have been her dating life in between the webshow start up.
We definitely need more iCarly, the web show, in iCarly. I always thought it would be a “3 AM TH-cam channel” kind of show, with its random humor and all.
I personally really enjoyed the revival. Was it perfect? No. But for what it was I thought it was ok. I liked how the whole point of the show was it was made for the fans who were kids watching the original when it was originally on and are now adults. But my biggest question I have that I hope they answer in season 2 is WHERE IS GIBBY???
I've enjoyed the series so far but i agree that the show needs to focus more on the webcast and not treat the extras from the og like no big deals. Yall did a great job on this collab! *Onto Jayniac Jr.'s channel*
My biggest problem is that this show is simply that in my opinion it fails to re-establish the iCarly world when it comes to characters. Nobody from the old cast other than Carly, Spencer and Freddy really feels like they are in this world. And giving old irregular characters single episodes where they randomly appear with no real purpose and then disappear forever doesn't help re-establishing that world. We are missing main characters like Sam, so the more important it is for the sake of nostalgia to at least keep up the side traffic of irregular / side characters. Back then every episode had a flow of irregular characters. For example even if Mrs. Benson wasn't there in that episode, Lewbert would be. Or if T-Bo wasn't there in that episode, Briggs and Howard would be. We were always within that familiar frame of characters and this is in my opinion what the remake lacks. Old irregular characters, even the ones that are supposed to live nearby like Mrs. Benson, appear only once or twice in the entire season. And even new irregular characters like Brooke, the Skybucks manager etc. many times only appear for one episode and then cease to be part of that world. So my suggestion would honestly be for season 2, since the show seems to have been a success, try to get some of the old actors back as more than a guest star. Maybe even more than before to make up for the lack of characters like Sam. Try to restore a consistent traffic where in every episode we get a bit of involvement in the story from irregular characters like Mrs. Benson or Franklin or Lewbert. And also try to promote very irregular yet iconic characters like Nora, Nevel, Griffin etc. to appear every other episode to make up for the older characters, both main and irregular characters, that we can't get back.
My favorite 2007 iCarly episode was “iPie” and I think they should revisit Galini’s Pie Shop to see how Mario and Trudy are now. I wanna see Ms. Ackerman come back to get revenge with Spencer making a joke about having Spotify Premium. Also, where’s Lewbert? I miss his wart.
Im personally a bit opposite. At least in the first point. I liked the earlier episodes but thats mostly cause, while I like new characters being introduced or character development, I absolutely hate the fact in the last batch of episodes we got 3 new characters, and all of them have a romantic attachment with 3 of the 5 main cast. They don't have room to grow and to me, we have no real sense of time but, it all happens so fast. I don't have much relationship experience but I wonder if real life dating is that fast. Ive some self esteem issues but also demisexual. An immediate interest in someone is a very alien concept to me. It just makes the characters seem desperate to me. Harper and Dutch are the closest to something natural to me as it took more than one episode
I can agree to that. The only reason I sort of get Wes and Carly's relationship is because Carly did the same thing in the older iCarly. This relationship just happened to last longer.
@@eryuu4016 Yeah I guess a lot of sitcoms just hook people up so easily. I think its given me such a false sense of how relationships really work as mine have all been slow build ups of knowing people and them getting to know me
Ok so the thing about the "dated references" thing is that you know what else exists at the same time as those references? The things that are referencing them. I get it in 10 years it'll be a little cringe but it's not like these shows or movies exist in a timeless vacuum, they're grounded in reality so of course there's going to be current references
The biggest problem of the show besides the writing is that the show is more about Carly, and let's face it, Miranda isn't able to carry her tv show no matter how hard she tries. In fact she looks overstressed trying to do so, doing no favors to the show. She worked best as the straight woman supporting protagonist that reacts to other characters, participating in their antics and sometimes having her own arcs and episodes. Freddie just having b plots and being the butt monkey is disheartening because he's more than just that, and one role he had that Carly would benefit more is him being the calming force to her neuroses.
I think it'd be interesting to have Neville be a reoccurring character as the iCarly team's main counter to Argentina (I know I misspelled that), by having him be happily married but still wanting to help Carly specifically. Using his evil genius to help the crew do something like recover from a smear campaign or the like, in Argentina becomes a reoccurring villain like he was.
@@JordanFringe94 Expected something like that but still proud. It did make me miss the first couple episodes though since you’re my main source of info lol. Anyway looking forward to it
If any Victorious characters showed up here's how I'd picture it: Robbie and Rex became a successful standup comedy routine, also moved into movies. Beck is a busy professional actor in film, TV and stage. Andre is a big time musician, composer and record producer. Cat went on to become basically what Ariana Grande now is. Tori and Jade are married to one another and are now a powerhouse couple in directing, producing, acting and music. Not sure where to go with Trina. Sinjin has a great job at Industrial Light and Magic. Victoria Justice could also reprise her role as Shelby Marx.
I agree, this new iCarly show lacked in focusing on the web show, they totally dropped the ball there. How can you make a show called iCarly without iCarly?
I agree with everything, especially with the more icarly part. We didn't get to see more of that. She been going to random awards shows but we really don't see more of her web shows🙁
This new Reboot honestly feels empty compared to the original. It legit makes me sick. I usually don't act like that when I see something I don't like, so you know this one hit me hard.
What if they incorporated the web show with skits? Kind of like the Office cold opens, but skits that Carly does when she’s streaming at the beginning of the episode? I think they did similar episode openings in the original show.
i FULLY agree the biggest issue with the revival is the lack of the actual webshow. it does feel like it could have just been a new show without it lol
Honestly Jordan and Jayminac Jr you are both correct about the revival of Icarly being good but also could be better I don’t have Paramount Plus but eventually I will subscribe to it, but yeah season 2 will definitely get better I’m sure. 😁

Then it ends without them doing every episode
Jayniac won't do a video on the revival anymore because of copyright issues.
OH HEY, MY TWEET!
xD
That wouldve been epic.
@@LeslieFlemons It can still happen next season
The Tori Vega/Shelby Marx idea is amazing! I can't see Cat coming back simply because Ariana Grade is doing so many things with her music and most likely would not agree to revive her role as Cat. There is no way.
@@audge777 That’s too bad because I love Ariana Grande especially as Cat
The twist at the end of the episode is it's Victoria Justice as herself
Truly appreciate the support! Thank you! 😄
@@mauriceisaac3646 I doubt that they can even afford Ariana Grande to sing anymore, so really highly likely
@@Serperi0r Even if they didn't get her back.
@@mauriceisaac3646 I'm in the camp that believes Victorious shouldve been brought back. Atleast we wouldve gotten the entire cast likely because as far as IK everyone seems down for it and they didnt get a proper ending
@@mauriceisaac3646 lol the webshow was mostly a background plot for the OG series, calm your ass down
The bromance really was the cherry on top of this video, get some sleep Jordan!
Jordan and Jayniac Jr reviewing the show together?! Yes, please, it'll be doubly entertaining! 🍿
So I can see Nevel dropping all his affection for Carly, as long as it only last a second and his affection comes back in full force
All I need is a line like “I divorced that petty excuse of a wife” and I’ll be happy.
Also now that Nora’s therapy didn’t work give us another “iPsycho” please
it was actually a old man he yelled at
@@scarletttyson4622 oops, my bad
Jayniac just needs to write his Victorious fanfic already.
As much as I can critique the reboot this was so much fun to watch. I’m onboard for season 2
I mean wasn't episode 4 literally all about social media?
They literally talk about memes in an episode
I also really wonder how much the pandemic played into how the show turned out, wether that be who could and couldn't make it as potential guest appearances, storylines, social distancing guidelines and how that affects acting performances, etc. I'm really curious to see how things change with season 2!
The show was very...alright. Which is significantly better than I expected actually. There is a lot of room for it to grow and get better, but the realist in me says that it'll just stay at the alright level. And that's fine. "Alright" shows need to exist.
Despite the odd pacing and situations from early episodes, the season got much better later on. Can't wait for season 2 and nice review collaboration.
It was a good revival, it doesnt needed to exist but it was good to see those characters back in an adult life.
I agree, make ICarly more about the Webshow.
Also why not make an episode where Carly atones for the fact that she treated Griffin badly?
@@lillycooper8397 Oh yeah I totally forgot the age difference.
Kinda extra gross, now that we know more about the Executive Producers dark secrets.
You know I came for ICarly and you hooked me Jordan. Keep up the good work man
Thanks so much for the support! 😄
i hope season two starts with a funny web show skit every episode like it used to be
It's cool to hear both of y'alls personalities and perspectives. Love you both🔥
I was okay with the little focus on the webshow because I kept thinking how it parallels with some real life content creators.
The show actually isnt bad. I do wish they gave my boy Freddie a couple more Ws but maybe next season he’ll get more.
I agree that there were a lot of unnecessary references to things in the media which definitely will make it feel more dated. That’s something the original Icarly never did which is why I feel it has aged pretty well
you say this, but... there was an entire FRED episode.

So much of that show is rooted in late two thousands-early twenty tens pop culture, not to mention in early social media, it would be MUCH harder to translate to the modern day.
not the collab i expected, but the collab i needed 🤩
@@segundovargas yea i'd say you are right, i forgot that they tried to portray nora as a 16 year old when she was like 30 lmao
@@dylantyrrell9084 ...That's not even remotely true. Danielle Morrow was born in 1993/94, which definitely puts her close to, if not in the exact age as Nora when she first played her in 2010. Unless you're talking about her appereance in the revival, in which case... what?

Hey its Jay jayniac talking about icarly again loving it and the video as a whole
I thank you so much!!!! Because of you, I got to watch it without being able to 💜
Nice video, there are a few things I'm hoping to see in Season 2.................
1) More of Carly doing her Web Show (as you mentioned)
2) Cameo of one or two Victorious characters
3) Carly making her mind up on which Guy she's more interested in (Wes or Beau) sooner rather than later. (Although based on the potential levels of fan interest to see the age old back and forth sub trope of the average Romantic Subplot, I won't be surprised if that storyline is dragged out)
4) At least one appearance of Gibby
I think I like the concept and idea of Victorious more than the show itself. A parody of the journey to Hollywood stardom and what it entails.
Same. The idea could work but not with the Dan Schneider cringe humor and storytelling
The first 12 episodes is great and love the idea of cameo apperances from cast of Victorious for season 2. So, I really hope that would be the case
Following along with you and jayniac this season has been a ride. Thanks for the fun times!
I knew you and JayniacJr would collab!!! I love both of your channels, so it made perfect sense!
Thanks so much for the support! 😄
I wonder where the name Harper came from? It’s the exact same name of Alex’s best friend on wizards of Waverley place lol
I had a feeling Jayniac was going to be the special guest. I know you, two are good friends on here.😉
It would've been cool to have Freddy working as a youtuber or something with his editing skills.
LET'S GO! JAYNIAC AND JORDAN COLLAB WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
We definitely need more iCarly, the web show, in iCarly. I always thought it would be a “3 AM TH-cam channel” kind of show, with its random humor and all.
i totally wasn't expecting that collab
I love JJ! Two legends in the making in one video
This honestly is a revival that didn't need to exist, but we're glad it does! I hope they do more of the web show/vlog in future seasons.
Credit to the writers for not just Writing in a Replacement Sam or Even recasting her character
I always enjoyed watching these
Really enjoyed this crossover Jordan and as always another great video!
Thanks so much!
I liked the new show. I liked the old show. They’re both entertaining and fun.
I love harper. She's an amazing actress.
I’m sure the girl is a good actress but the Harper character sucked
Still surprised you’ve resisted the urge to discuss season 2
At the end of the season
@@JordanFringe94 Expected something like that but still proud. It did make me miss the first couple episodes though since you’re my main source of info lol. Anyway looking forward to it
Phill Lewis directed one of the episodes, we need a Suite Life revival on Disney+
If any Victorious characters showed up here's how I'd picture it:
Robbie and Rex became a successful standup comedy routine, also moved into movies.

This new Reboot honestly feels empty compared to the original. It legit makes me sick. I usually don't act like that when I see something I don't like, so you know this one hit me hard.
Why did I feel like the bartender was going to be Trina instead of Tori?
What if they incorporated the web show with skits? Kind of like the Office cold opens, but skits that Carly does when she’s streaming at the beginning of the episode? I think they did similar episode openings in the original show.
Honestly, we all know Ariana Grande wouldn´t want to be Cat again, but that would have been fun to watch
Great analysis of the first season!
i FULLY agree the biggest issue with the revival is the lack of the actual webshow. it does feel like it could have just been a new show without it lol
So basically it’s not great or maybe even good, but we watch it because nostalgia. Definitely makes it feel like just a cash grab.
I doubt Ariana would ever go back to sitcom tv.
Honestly Jordan and Jayminac Jr you are both correct about the revival of Icarly being good but also could be better I don’t have Paramount Plus but eventually I will subscribe to it, but yeah season 2 will definitely get better I’m sure. 😁
