IN THIS VIDEO
I had been told about this 500m+ tunnel that formed a section of the Northern Rivers Rail Trail in Northern NSW, Australia, that had opened to the public late in 2023.
The Burringbar Tunnel was constructed more than 130 years ago and since being re-opened to the public it has become a popular attraction for cyclists, runners and walkers.
The Tunnel is towards the southern section of a 27km link from Murwillumbah to Mooball in Northern NSW.
Trish and I didn't run the whole section, but parked close by and made the 2.5km trek to the tunnel.
But the run was definitely worth it, although Trish may not think so.
It's a lovely run to the tunnel, mostly under a shaded canopy, passing old bridges and lush vegetation.
The trail has been impressively restored and is well signed.
