Something that helped me know how to use the front brake off road was the explanation that under braking, as the forks compress, the effective rake is reduced making the steering sharper. That can feel scary and certainly we don't want to lock up the front wheel mid corner but a little dab on the front brake before the apex can tuck the front in when you need it. Doing it wrong can result in the front washing out on a low traction surface. On a high traction surface it might result in an endo+pirouette then smashing your manhood into the gas tank. Ask me how I figured that out. It's not a beginner technique but I'm trying to make my motorcycle dance.

Nice job on this. I really identified with #8. More than once I can into a sharp turn in the woods during a race totally blowing through the turn. Usually after passing someone and they motor past me.. duh. Gave me a chance to go after em again.
    Nice work.

Thanks for sharing, Dane! What have you tried to improve blowing through the turn?

Something I’ve noticed. Standing or leaning against turns has something in common. Both allow the bike to move freely underneath you. It definitely helps in stability through bumps and corners. Not sure of the physics or explanation, just something I’ve observed in my early journey on dirt riding.

Glad it was helpful - thanks for watching, Rafał! Wow, just noticed that you've been on TH-cam since 2006!!

I am glad I've found your channel, as after riding different bikes for the last 20 years, I have just got myself a FE501 and your tips are very welcomed 😊 best!

Man I’ve watched a bunch of your videos for a while now but the audio quality is terrible not sure if it is the mic or the way it’s uploaded but I just don’t want to watch your videos when they pop up because it sounds so bad nothing against you or your channel but it would be a huge improvement! Keep up the content tho, God Bless.

Thanks for your feedback, Kegan. It's really that bad? Just curious, what device are you watching on?
I'm watching this video again with earbuds so that I can hear every little sound and I'm honestly not understanding what makes the quality so "terrible" that someone wouldn't want to watch anymore - it sounds the same as basically every other video for the past year that I've posted.
I know my mic quality is far from perfect and crisp, but I'm no audiophile, so any specific spots/tips are appreciated.
      Thanks,

Definitely not hating on you or your videos just want to see your content get better and better! I watch with AirPods Pro 2 through my phone and with Astro A50s when on my PC both sound the same. It’s mostly the mic audio for your voice it sounds grainy and muffled the other sounds like when you’re riding a bike the audio sounds good and normal compared to other videos I watch.

Yep, I get it. I'm always trying to improve every week. I just didn't think it sounded that bad, but I'll see what I can do.
      Thanks, Kegan.

Standing. I feel like when I accelerate I’m being pulled not only backwards but the bars are being pulled either left or right. This is particularly noticeable in sweeping turns when I go through standing. Turing right for example I find the bars being pulled slightly to the left. Probably need to get that left elbow up and push a bit.

    • @MotocrossHideout
      @MotocrossHideout  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@Dashriprock4 Gotcha, yeah it's super common to feel the pull when standing because there's a lot more weight that can get thrown around.
That's a sign that you're "reacting" to the bike, so it's controlling you, as opposed to you controlling the bike (what we want).

@@Dashriprock4 I will add that to my list! Is there anything else that makes it challenging other than what you mentioned in your previous comment about being pulled through the bars when standing on a sweeping turn?
I'm just trying to picture what that would look like based on your description...
      Thanks!
