Gotta love Lennox Lewis! One of the smartest man alive, left at the top with his health. Figured how much enough was enough. Anyone else would’ve hung in there way after their prime just to keep cashing those checks.
Gerry Cooney is one of the nicest guys. I sat next to him at a VIP table (dumb luck I sorta knew the promoter) at a kickboxing event. He and I were the only ones at the table actually facing the fights. The others had to turn around in their chairs to watch the ring. During the main event, he and I ate everybody else's little creme brulee desserts while they were watching the fight.
The world was robbed of seeing the greatest mature fully in the ring when Mike went to prison! And many fighters were robbed of proving their true worth. Hats off to Lewis for admitting this. Lewis, Tyson and Holyfield were truly some of the greatest from that time. ✌️
Blaze Temp it probably would have been a different fight 3.5 years earlier but hands down I can’t take anything away from Lewis! He was a excellent boxer!

@@harveypratt995 yes i see what you're saying, but Tyson didn't need to, thus his power was superior as he could tear through defences due to that huge power. Slowly but surely history will helps us realize that Lennox is the greatest heavyweight boxer ever. He beat all the greats from the golden age of heavyweight boxing.
Nice to see a fighter in retirement whose still articulate and not desperate for money. I also appreciate the absence of outlandish claims with regard to great fighters of the past. He also had the fortune of Emanuel Steward in his camp.
I felt that Tyson style could only last for a few years, the amount of training and to be able to move bob weave launch himself with speed and agility way crazy, as he got older and the love for the sport slowly died off that part of his arsenal diminished,
As all of those old bums that he knocked out in the 80s began to fade, and a new crop of heavyweights emerged in the 90s, Mike Tyson was simply outclassed. He lost every major fight he ever had! Beating the likes of Tony Tubbs, Trevor Berbick, James Smith, and Michael Spinks ... those weren't great victories. Impressive, yes! But far from great! 🤷♂

That's why I like him aside from being my fav boxer. He even said the same thing after the Tyson Holyfield rematch when Tyson bit his ear off, that Tyson hasn't been the same since his prison time
Yeah well it’s probably easy for him to acknowledge that because he knows he wasn’t in his prime either

Lewis had a ton of pressure on him leading up to the Tyson fight. If he lost to Tyson, Tyson would have eaten his children. :(

I remember seeing Mike Tyson in New York after his retirement doing some jogging. Couldn’t say anything. The street was empty and he passed me by while I was starring at him in unbelief.
