    You can press control c on the weapon that you've made and next time you go to craft one hit control v and it will copy it for you so you don't have to keep messing with sliders and picking parts

      The little hourglass next (to the dice underneath the parts) does the same thing. Though it can be a bit confusing unless you Name you favorite crafted weapon something. But it saves 10 previously crafted weapons with all your settings on them!

      Extra for the Ctrl+C Ctrl+V option: you can open your favorite text editor (like Notepad, Notepad++, VS Code) and paste (Ctrl + V) into it and save as a text file. At a later date, you can open the file, copy (Ctrl + C) the contents of the file, and paste (Ctrl + V) inside the smithing menu. With any save. But you need to have the parts unlocked to actually craft, like it is normally the case.
      For anyone unaware: Selecting everything is in most (if not all) text editors is Ctrl + A. Makes it easier to select everything, without missing a necessary symbol.

    If you want to get legendary and unlock all parts fast, have 1 character as curious smelter and practical smelter, he will be the only one to smelt and everyone else smiths, you can unlock all parts and get legendary in about 30 minutes

    nice tip here, if you don't wanna sit in the city at the beginning, get you a few recruits and a companion and kill looters and sell/smelt their gears. they drop pitchforks and wooden hammers pretty consistently, so wood is always free. low tier iron just flows, plus you sell all those rags for decent bank too, at least enough to support low lvl smithing,

    I don't think, at least In my personal experience, that switching handles between one-handed and two-handed changes the price, because the sword it both one and two handed, depends what way you character uses it, but I did found out that ones that can switch between modes well for way higher

  • @psyboyo
    @psyboyo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Nice, finally mate! An updated Smithing guide! Finally someone talks about how "one+two handed" handles are now the best to smith. You forgot to talk about the smithing history button, or you haven't tried? Its the button next to the "dice" in the "forge" screen. That means that mini-maxing the stats of the sword is totally worth it, as its just done once, and when you forge it, history button records the stats, so you can leave the town and pick it up again at any stage, any town. This is also saved in the normal game save, so you wont lose it.
    Now, history was glitchy the last time I played, some two weeks ago, when reloading a sword from history, there was the probability that one of the stats went a tiny bit down (probably a rounding of a floating number), and the swing damage went a bit down, and so the gold you would receive. Two or three hot fixes came out since then, so maybe that its fixed now.
    Also you can do a copy+paste on the Forge screen, and copy the stats into a txt file, and keep it for that run with the amount of gold worth. Then no problems with losing the history, that actually has a limit of saves (maybe like the last 10?), because you can always go back to the txt file, and copy that cheaper material/greater gold model, and paste it on the forge screen.
    Remember the doing a extremely valuable one+two handed sword, may be worthless, if no town exists with that much gold to give you.
    Big hugs mate, amazing video as usual! ^^

    • @psyboyo
      @psyboyo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aFemz if you click this time link here: 6:20 you can pause, and see the"forge" screen. So, at the centre of the screen, a bit to the right, you see 4 small square buttons with icons, the top left has the "dice" icon (to generate a random sword) an to its right is the "sand clock" icon inside a circle, that is the button to open your history of the last forged swords. Not sure if anyone else mentioned it but when you're on the main menu of the town screen you can just hove your cursor over the notables and see which ones own what shops and just talk to them directly and buy from them rather than having to go into the town and walk to the shops themselves.

    I've been playing for a little while now, and I'm blown away by how much you can make via smithing. I completely ignored the skill when making my character and just kind of dabbled on the side in the main campaign, smelting down weapons gotten from beating up looters and such, so had a lot of materials on hand. Just as an experiment I tried making a 2-handed sword that I randomized. It was way out of my skill's rating and when smelting it lost a bunch of points on the stats, so I figured it would be trash. Sold it away for over 6k with a Smithing of 39! Also, I didn't realize you could use a companion's smithing stamina. So yes, this one video completely changed the way I will be playing from now on. Thanks very much, subscribed!

    Just buy all the Wood you can pretty much afford for the 3 denars in Seonon. Then refine it all. Sell the charcoal in the same town or nearby towns for a profit and continue this indtil you’re level 75 in smithing.
    Then start crafting after that.

    @Domtastic Gaming - It used to be that the buttons "one-handed" and "Two handed" were simply to see the difference in stats between both modes. Are you certain clicking the one handed causes you to make a meaningfully less lucrative product? EDIT: Went ahead and got the itch, started a new game and indeed those buttons hold no meaningful sway over the resulting two hander.

    Personally i prefer to get to lvl 50 on just charcoal refining, then start smelting pugios/tribesman knives due to high tier resources for low price, and forging swords only with t3/t2 parts at least. Full t2 sword is not enough for me, really small amounts of xp gained for stamina spent. Oh and do you mind including some high value recipes? Like 25k+? I only right now know t4/t5 20k sword with fine steel + steel and 9-10k falchion with iron/wrought iron

      experiencing this too- sword combinations that used to hit 50K sales are now barely over 20 something K. :( I have found it more profitable to switch to mass producing Menavlion weapons, only costs one steel, one wood and one charcoal to make 9K. also found that making swinging polearms piece sizes smaller is actually beneficial to both damage and speed.

Of course there are tricks that one will always have to find out, but there are also the basics like the fact one can have companions work in the smithy too, which apparently one has to find out on his/her own if they don't watch third party guides.

    Nice guide, however it needs to be added that the best use of smithing is the free attribute point perks at 150 and 225.
    I think spending more than 4 focus points on smithing is a waste as the perks past 225 are not worth it.
    Assuming 4fp, if you start smithing before you have 6 endurance you cannot reach 225 smithing for the Enduring smith perk(+1end).
    If you want to min max, spend free attribute points until 5 endurance then level athletics to 175 for another +1 endurance from the 175 perk, and only then start smithing and you can hit the 225 perk for another +1 end, finishing with 7 endurance having only spent free attribute points on it up until 5 :) . Also along the way you can get another 2 attribute points onto either control or vigor which will really help boost your character alot.
    Be very careful what you spend free attribute points on. You don't get many during a playthrough so its important (imo critical) what you choose to use them on.
    Athletics and Smithing are basically the core to any decently optimised character.

    As far as i know it doesn't matter if you select one or two handed during crafting. Both "modes" are available in battle no matter what do you select white crafting, you change them with "x" in case of swords and with equipping shields in case of polearms. Furthermore, you can check item's stats in both modes in your inventory by selecting either one or two handed

    few practical questions: How do you know that you actually crafted a "legendary" or "fine" or what every rank weapon? will the name become "legendary crafted [weapon]" or do you need to actually look into its stats? last question: when flooding the market with your crafted weapons, will they somehow dissapear over time or will you see each town eventually have 100's if not 1000's of crafted weapons?

    Hey, When you craft that 2hsword with the 1h/2h grip you're not crafting it as a 1h i don't think, you're just showing the stats it'll have when used as a 1h/shield or without a shield. Those weapons can be used either way. If i'm wrong i must have a bug on my game lol, i've been crafting 1h/2h the whole time, and it always makes the same sword.

    • @DomsRoundtable
      @DomsRoundtable  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @Grimulfr
      @Grimulfr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@DomsRoundtable It does not. When selecting a grip at smithing that can be used 1H or 2H, selecting that only shows the STAT distinction between the two for that weapon. For example at Poros, the local aristocract "Garios" travels with a party of no less than 600 men. Just need some advice on starting a kingdom/fiefdom. Thank you.

    Is the tier 4 pointed falshion blade still completely overpowered? Its a tier 4 blade with very high swing cut damage that requires only iron. I haven't made any post price-nerf, but its probably still the best money source in the game. Pre-nerf in the late game when you have 8-10 followers/clan-members, you could generate 1.5m gold per in-game day. Now its probably *only* 300k or so. The most time consuming thing was touring the world emptying cities' bank accounts. tbh the price nerf was a good thing XD

    • @elliot9854
      @elliot9854 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is very good because it is so cheap, especially if you make the other parts of the weapon contribute to swing damage. Recommend using Fian's Pomel (LV) if you have it unlocked because it makes swing cut damage insane.

      You can give all swords to a brother or sister in a different party. As long as they visit a town and then continue being a party (not taken prisoner or disbanded) you will get all the $$$ without crashing a town economy or having to visit towns yourself.

    Oh crap, did not know that u can switch between 1-h and 2-h when crafting 2-h weapons. No wonder why the swords i was crafting was depreciating in value even though my character smithing was over 250
    Edit:
    Actually, not did not change. Doesnt make sense. I was able to craft 2-h swords worth 20k+ when my smithing was in the 100s, now i can barely make a 17k 2-h sword with smithing over 200.

  • @TheAsj97
    @TheAsj97 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    9:09 This isn't true, you're not actually switching the type of grip that is going to be forged, you're crafting a sword that can be used both as one handed and as two handed, the buttons only serve to preview the stats you'll have in each of the weapon modes.

    • @DomsRoundtable
      @DomsRoundtable  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is true and I've demo'd it in my previous smithing guide - if you were to switch the grip to 1H it would be a much quicker but weaker sword, and would sell for significantly less

    • @elliot9854
      @elliot9854 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can hover over the perk "badges" in the character menu to see if they're active. If you mean your captain perks having an effect on battles, then they will only take affect if you are the leader of a certain troop type. If you assign companions/lords as captains of your troop types (in the screen when beginning a battle) then their captain effects (which can be viewed by pressing alt when hovering over them) will be used instead of yours. with high level companions, it is often better to use them as the troop leaders because you can focus their perks into only captain perks.

    Thank you so much for the feedback and corrections on this video you absolute legends!! ❤❤
    I've been informed by a few of you amazing people that I'm COMPLETLEY WRONG in the segment of the video where I was talking about switching the 1H/2H GRIP
    This used to make 2 separate weapons, with the 2H version being far more profitable, and you can see the results of my previous testing proving this here: th-cam.com/video/vP3r8m3Z63w/w-d-xo.html
    HOWEVER!! Some of you wonderful people have let me know that now, it makes the SAME WEAPON, and that switching the GRIP between 1H & 2H just shows you a preview of the stats for that weapon when wielded in each of the 2 modes, however it will not change the final product, and will be worth the SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY either way!
    Thank you all for your help, and apologies for this misinformation! 💖💖
