    Also, i want to share my tactic of upgrading troops. Think of it like raising a second army. You want to have only the troops you want to upgrade in your party. I also recommend fighting the battles yourself, commanding your soldiers. This makes the upgrading more efficient because less soldiers will die, if you command them well, and they tend to get more experience if you dont autocalc the battle. Keep in mind Domtastic`s tip about the troop xp stacking and you will have a new band of experienced veterans in no time. Good luck, warriors!

  • @Nikanoru
    @Nikanoru 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Good lord there was an auto-follow the whole time? That feel when you've failed multiple escort quests because you suck at following other armies closely enough to rescue them in time. I've sacrificed imaginary goats to the gods to curse this game for its lack of an auto-follow feature. Now I just feel silly. Subbed though. This video made me realize the game's mechanics are a little more in depth than I realized.

    Although I'm a Mount and Blade veteran and played Bannerlord for around 300 hours I learned several new things, especially on exploiting villagers. Plus I knew that you could try to persuade lords and ladies again after failing at your first attempt, but I never noticed they "kept the progress" from the last time.
    A tip for your next list: smithing skill levels up faster and unlocks more new smithing/crafting parts the more expensive the weapon is you smelt. E.g.: smelting an iron spartha worth 300 denars might raise your skill by 2 and give you lots of iron BUT unlocks nothing new, while smelting a javeline worth 1000 denars gives you 7 skill points AND unlocks two new parts, but only gives you hardwood and one ironbar.

    I always run a Cav centric army early. One trick I picked up for mountains is splitting my Cav into 2 units and charging up the mountain on 2 sides. 1 to draw fire, 1 to run Infantry or archers off their advantageous high ground.

  • @danibus808

    to add onto your tip about sitting outside of towns and buying directly from the villagers, I have been going into a city that I want to take by siege, buying all the food and animals, then waiting outside and buying everything from the caravans. I had already learned about the smithing way to being insanely wealthy, so it doesn't set you back to buy all the goods. With Pen Cammoc and AB Comer Castle, I already owned the castle and it was close enough to run the supplies down tot he stash before too many caravans or villagers had had a chance to drop off food. In other places, I literally just drop it on the ground because it WILL add up. This basically works as a peacetime siege and I starve the garrison and militia forces, and get the loyalty of the town down as well. Awesome videos and tips, I watched most everything in one go

    TL:DR : Proper job! Due diligence clearly done.
    Morale and terrain are so often ignored or treated as insignificant, nice to see you've been having some fun with them. I think the 'Alt/follow party' thing might get roped into a later final release tutorial but it wasn't a working element until relatively recently (autumn). Character creation - agreed, the first 25-50 pts can usually be achieved without any focus points invested (especially the combat skills), so we can still get the first couple of perks even if we aren't throwing much at a Skill but I'd also recommend a playthrough with an even spread between top and bottom half, in terms of skill and focus points - if nothing else, for new players to get a taste of everything to see which path they prefer - sometimes a single perk can make a weird looking build work. If we're any good at the combat, we really don't need to invest many points there unless we're going for a particular perk or the skill checks for the horses, ranged weapons etc. By mid to late game, if we've maxed out the combat skills we're so OP it's not even funny. 150-200 in Athletics will have us running down horses and it can go beyond 250.. Great video, keep swinging.

    Another thing I like about sniping Lords as an Archer like: if they try to do the defensive but u have parked your troops defensive and preferr that, killing the enemy leader let's their troops charge into you. That's always nice if u have a lot of archers on a hill and don't want to charge the enemies.

    when you trade prisoners to a villages always go to "visit" not just "talk" when you take an assignment you can talk to a village elder right away and you will avoid that other village elder to complain and try to take half of your profit for prisoners.

    Isn't tip 5 wrong? The larger stack had 24 of the 66 remaining troops upgrade, which is ~36%, and the smaller stack had 9/21, which was ~43%. So the smaller stack is upgrading faster.

    • @user-wq9mw2xz3j
      @user-wq9mw2xz3j 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      nah, just by chance, but its the same. Common misconception.
      It's not that they upgrade faster if more, just obviously more are gonna upgrade when theres more of the troop type avaliable to get kills and experience.
      The reason you'd want to do this sometimes is because
      a) if the next tier is top tier, then upgrading will mean that those top tier troops will "steal" experience from others, while not benefitting themselves.
      or b) you don't care about your troops (for example recruits) getting to tier 5 as fast as possible, instead you care about getting *all* of them to tier 2 first.
      In that case, it would go faster to leave them all as recruits without upgrading until everyone can be upgraded

  • @maxrander0101
    @maxrander0101 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    another good way to make battles easier is to use proper tactics like have footmen form a line and hold about 10-20 metres infront of your archers so the arcers dont get into the hand to hand fighting after the first enemy attack then no matter the number of horsemen have them form up to the far left or right of your line in a place the Ai cant spot them and when the enemy have fully engaged your lines have the horsemen move to attack from behind this leads to massive groups of the enemy turning and running as they take a massive hit to morale if attacked from all sides

      @@DomsRoundtable be that as it may, Italian Spartacus would disagree with you. I'll look for it, but they patched that group shared XP feature out a while ago, I think patch 1.4.5/8 or something...

    • @Baroque_cast
      @Baroque_cast 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Looked into it, just read through all the change logs. I think we're both slightly off, so in patch 1.4.3 they changed the way troops receive XP. It's now shared between all soldiers. The old same unit XP mass upgrade is still viable, however, troops now share XP collectively (i.e. even if they don't fight kill any enemies in battle such as when archers get all kills, soldier will share in the total XP pool after a match), so the incentives for upgrading all troops at once are greatly diminished.

    Tip 5. Are you sure about that? In both cases about half of the units are ready to upgrade and naturally the larger stacks would have more units ready to upgrade because there are more of them. If both have roughly 50% of the group ready to upgrade I dont think size has any effect

    Alt follow was in my tutorial I’m pretty sure . Idk how I woulda been using it from the start if not 🤷🏾‍♂️ I also have played mount and blade since the first game (I bought it because I thought the dude on the cover was Aragorn so I thought it was a LoTR game) and I have always used the follow option at night to avoid night battles in forests so I automatically tried to right click some looters for a “follow party” option and when nothin happened I remembered to left alt before I even read it when hovering over their party . So I’m guessing that was an update ? I just got bannerlord

    your terrain comment doesn't actually work, they haven't implemented it yet, i've been in middle of a forrest on the map and ended out fighting in desert several times, i mean they have said that the exact terrain will be implemented at some stage, but currently it's not always true, also i noticed you selling items one at a time, if you press alt whilst selling you'll sell 5 at a time and cntrl whilst selling will sell all of that said item. Also another battle tip when fighting a cav heavy army especially if you're foot and archer heavy is run your army to the edge of the map, the cav don't do well at the edge as they can't circle you, also if you use square formation with your infantry to the left hand side of your army it deals with the cav well too as they tend to circle to that side a lot more ( unless terrain doesn't allow).

      the system has been implemented and works.
      It's just that there arent scenes for each place yet, only about 70 and there needs to be at least like 200 more or something.

      @@user-wq9mw2xz3j at the time I made the comment it hadn't been implemented at all and documentation was there to support that fact as well as personal experience, we've had several updates since my comment with a couple of major ones included too.

    love this..by the way the bannerlord people are updating the skills level info to useless upgrades to slow people down who want to finish the game..there not improveing the game just causing problems for players..( saves them having to put a finish in )..in the desert if you have more than one type of troops on a battle screen where you attack close to a cliff the positioning puts troops on top of cliffs who then die trying to get down to attack.

    Does this still hold up nowadays? Last time I played was Summer 2020 and a lot has changed - I heard there was a large update rather recently that mixed everything up. Thank you in advance if anyone answers
