Units dont level up faster in a bigger stack. What is giving this idea is that XP is shared across all units of the same type. If you have 20 archers and upgrade 18 to veteran archers, those 2 basic archers are going to have to compete with 18 others for experience meaning that itll take ALOT longer for those two basic archers to level up but the actual experience gain is the same!

Hahaha ya nailed it, except my experience was reversed. Mine was when i had a huge band of horse archers and felt god-like in the open plains. Then i fought some heavy infantry in a thick forest and got absolutely destroyed and learned a valuable lesson that day 😂
Using the advance command for infantry has them use their shields if under missile fire. Charge seems to put inf into a bloodlust that overrides battle logic having them keep their shields at their side as they move only a bit faster towards the enemy.
It could totally be useful against a really large group of crossbowmen, since they deal a lot of damage to shields and have such a slow reload rate. Another way it might be useful is if the archers are actively being reinforced and you're trying to hit their line before they get 30 more guys in it
08:40 If you're the one being chased you can also sit in a village and force them to fight you in a town map, then you can set all of your non-archers behind buildings so that there are no easy sightlines or charging areas for them to hit your army with either.
The tip about leveling up troops is alright, but what I do since smithing gives so much money...just make some javelins and go to trading, then buy all the gear that is like under 400 denars and has a bigger stack then 200/300 buy the all the stacks and trade in the javelines you just made (so you don't have to pay the 100k denars). Get out of the town and drop the new bought crappy gear or weapons out of your inventory. Your troops will pick it up and get like 100K of experience depending on your troops. Do this in 2/3 towns and you have a full 5/6 star army from 0 in 2 days without fighitng.

9:39 just to expand on the tip. At the early stages of the game do not rush with army. At the start of the game, just get a bow if not got already and do solo horse archery vs looters for a bit, this gives lvls so fast, then can do a few tourneys for armor and money, get a wife, once you're able go mercenary with whatever faction is at war, get a max stack of arrows, ideally get a wife with a noble bow then join army fights solo. Join any fights, losing or wining can always retreat and bail before army loses. And just do horse archery in battles all the time. Will level you, archery and riding so fast and will give a huge boost.
I was so stuck trying to figure out how to get steel and fine steel without getting the perks and the pugio tip is such a game changer it's honestly op.
God damn now I found out why I never managed to hit enemies from horseback with my newest character, he's a giant xD Didn't think my size would actually influence the hitboxes, nice to know

Thank you so much :D Also, I do have a separate workshop guide that helps with making some really profitable workshops - But to give you a very very quick rundown, basically just buy a Wool Weavery in all Khuzait Towns, and most of them will still be making 300-400+ a day!! :D
Workshops still make money and can help a lot to offset unit costs without worrying about your stockpile getting depleted. Me having to go smith after losing my army and castle costing me 1500 a day
Your tip to see price of goods when you're in influence range of a town is usefull, but that mean you skeep town who aren't interesting to trade with, which mean you won't do the tournament and you won't help prisonner to escape town, which is a very good way to improve your charm and roguery skills. I recommend to use your tip only to see where to sell your goods (don't sell goods in Jalmarys if prices are better in Amitatys for exemple), but still go to each town to do tournament and break out from jail.
My best recommendation for growing your channel is working on your thumbnails. I almost didn't click. Glad I did. Cheers man & good luck growing your channel
You can go up stairs on a horse if you go at an angle, just hold A or D while holding W and eventually your horse will find an angle it likes and gain momentum, then you can turn in the opposite direction. The horse might stop for a sec but you just have to keep wiggling. Try it out! I do this all the time to get to siege engines ASAP in siege defenses with low athletics.

I've been fighting a 3+ way war now for 72 in game hours. I'm also taking ground and growing, still very very rich even though I'm paying 8k a day in tribute. 2.8 million. It's hell. Also could use a guide on how to improve reputation with lords that are -100
Try to gather a lot of money, make peace with other factions even if it costs you a fortune, then get as many mercenaries and lords as you can to join you and steamroll over the empire to get them done with as fast as possible. One way to improve relations with lords is to fight them and not take them prisoners. By doing that you will increase your relation with them by 9 or 10 if I remember. It's best to take the common nobles prisoners but let the clan leaders go free. You can recognize who is a clan leader by their two part name. All the common nobles have just a singular name. You only have to have a good relation with the leader to make it easier to convince them to join you.
11:00 In my campaign I've ran into a single engineer and her skill was only at 90 and I was actively looking out for an engi, I traveled literally the entire map and ever heard only about just that one engineer.. Also I noticed that people often complain that the only two factions that are actually playable are Sturgia and Aserai, but in my campaign Sturgia is the weakest and almost gone despite me starting playing 3 days ago, and the strongest two factions are Battania and Vlandia.

A wise man once said, "it is better to learn from the mistakes of others than your own". Super useful tips in this Tutorial. One thing that no one has said is how on earth ( with version e1.7.0) can you choose which troops to use in a big army battle. Like if half your army is tier 1, other half is tier 5, how do you assign best soldiers for battle. All my soldiers get mixed up during battle without being able to choose if i want more archers or cavalry. I think other parties' soldiers get thrown in with my neat and tidy army right before battle. In Medieval Total war I can sort and pick which troops I want to fight first.
So i spent 4 hours trying to figure out why my caravans are being taken down so easy in late game just to find out in this video. Thanks, won't be using spicevendor anymore.

3:57 - oh god, not that wrong math again. I've heard that nonsense from Warband players, and here it is again. The only tier of units that's worth not_upgrading_asap is the tier before the last because in that case all the XP your last-tier units will gain will be lost. But in all other cases 1) The sooner you level up your tier 1 guys to tier 2, the faster your tier 2 starts gaining XP and turning into tier 3 etc. 2) The stronger your army is, the stronger enemies you can defeat and the more experience you can gain. 3) By delaying level ups, you will inevitably lose plenty of XP thanks to "overkills". I.e. you can upgrade 50/60 recruits, then you win one more fight and gain enough XP to upgrade 20 of them. Oh, wait, whoops, you don't have 20 recruits, there are only 10 left who actually need XP. The remaining XP is lost. So no, delaying level ups is not gonna speed up the process of training troops, it's only gonna slow it down. Other than that, it was an interesting guide, thanks!
You mention the quartermaster uses the trade skill. I'm pretty sure it uses the steward skill. If quartermaster benefits from high trade skill, I've been doing it wrong
@Domtastic Gaming - You definitely did not have X6 experience gain on engineering with 0 skill points assigned to it. It may be that the bonus degrades at higher levels, but the main factor is skill points, followed by statistic number.
When you have prisoners and are in the process of converting them to your side, if you put them in the "discard" side of the screen and then bring them back does that reset the timer on converting them?
I just got the console version of this game last night. This game has so much info to learn it’s overwhelming but I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be worth the time n effort once I start understanding the basics. Quick question though since I’m just starting out, does the height n weight of your character have a impact on reach for taller characters? Does weight have a impact on how fast you can move? Your tip is to make your character small to be harder to hit, is there any cons for having a small character? What are the pros to having a taller character, if there are any pros? I just wanna understand more about this topic n I’m wondering how in depth this game is when it comes to the weight n height. Is it possible to divorce a wife so I could get married in the early stages of the game then once I get to mid game I could find a better wife to marry? Does the cheap horse trick work in 1.7? I thought they eliminated it a while back. Also, if you keep a surplus of grain, tools, and looters you can do at least half of the village quests in 2 clicks. That gets you easy cash, charm, and rep. Village rep ties directly to recruiting, so if there's a certain unit you want a lot of then it's good to do all the quests you can in their territory. In my current game I can often get 10+ Battania archers (up to level 3) or Khazati horse archers from a single village. That's handy.
its such cheese to rely on smithing it basically remove the fund as a core mechanism of the game. personally i think it is only fair to use smithing to sell for nonle orders that require less than 100 difficulty. otherwise it’s broken
Im having trouble making money from my brewery and woodshop even though the surrounding area has all the supplies i need to keep them running and supplied. But im always loosing money as opposed to making any money. My men keep deserting because i cant pay or feed them..do i make a caravan from the city that my shops are in?
18:06 Thats actually even better for prisoners, as you obviously want the highest tier possible. Just be careful not to discard lords. They are considered lowest tier here.
I think they've taken that option out of the game unfortunately on the most recent patch, unfortunately this tip wasnt tested on the latest patch as I'd already recorded this footage before it was put live 😢

I first did this in my sturgia game vs those damn horse loving khuzaits scary bunch of folk they are lol.

Only way I know is sorting the unit list in the party screen. Units at the top of the list are pulled first when fighting big battles.

You mention the quartermaster uses the trade skill. I'm pretty sure it uses the steward skill. If quartermaster benefits from high trade skill, I've been doing it wrong
You're completely correct!! This was a visual bug in an older version of BannerLord, it 100% uses Steward!! 😊

@Domtastic Gaming - You definitely did not have X6 experience gain on engineering with 0 skill points assigned to it. It may be that the bonus degrades at higher levels, but the main factor is skill points, followed by statistic number.

When you have prisoners and are in the process of converting them to your side, if you put them in the "discard" side of the screen and then bring them back does that reset the timer on converting them?

I just got the console version of this game last night. This game has so much info to learn it’s overwhelming but I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be worth the time n effort once I start understanding the basics. Quick question though since I’m just starting out, does the height n weight of your character have a impact on reach for taller characters? Does weight have a impact on how fast you can move? Your tip is to make your character small to be harder to hit, is there any cons for having a small character? What are the pros to having a taller character, if there are any pros? I just wanna understand more about this topic n I’m wondering how in depth this game is when it comes to the weight n height. Thanks for making this video, I’m sure I’ll be coming back to these tips when I’m more informed on how this game works.
Edit: I just saw the tip to bribe your way into marriage. Is it possible to divorce a wife so I could get married in the early stages of the game then once I get to mid game I could find a better wife to marry? Is this a thing in this game or is it once your married your married for life?

Does the cheap horse trick work in 1.7? I thought they eliminated it a while back.
Also, if you keep a surplus of grain, tools, and looters you can do at least half of the village quests in 2 clicks. That gets you easy cash, charm, and rep. Village rep ties directly to recruiting, so if there's a certain unit you want a lot of then it's good to do all the quests you can in their territory.
In my current game I can often get 10+ Battania archers (up to level 3) or Khazati horse archers from a single village. That's handy.
its such cheese to rely on smithing it basically remove the fund as a core mechanism of the game. personally i think it is only fair to use smithing to sell for nonle orders that require less than 100 difficulty. otherwise it’s broken
Im having trouble making money from my brewery and woodshop even though the surrounding area has all the supplies i need to keep them running and supplied. But im always loosing money as opposed to making any money. My men keep deserting because i cant pay or feed them..do i make a caravan from the city that my shops are in?

the paesant trick for gold doesnt work, no option ti buy from them when they exit city, i tried like 30 different ones.
I think they've taken that option out of the game unfortunately on the most recent patch, unfortunately this tip wasnt tested on the latest patch as I'd already recorded this footage before it was put live 😢
