    Situation:
    - input lag when in docked mode
    - NO input/controller lag when in handheld
    - NO input/controller lag when using Bluetooth controller in handheld mode
    - Input lag will last several days (only when docked) - then will not experience ANY input lag for a couple weeks.
What I’ve tried to eliminate input/controller lag:
    - TV is in “game mode”
    - Changed out HDMI cable
    - Using HDMI 1 (channel); tried other HDMI channels
    - Different controllers
    - Wired controller
    - Separate USB to connect to controller via Bluetooth
    - Wired internet connection for switch
    Result:
    - no affect on input/controller lag in docked mode.
UPDATE: I figured mine out! It’s a Roku tv update that’s bad. Sometimes, randomly, it will say it’s on “game mode” while not actually being on that mode. The ONLY fix is unplugging the TV and plugging it back in. C’mon Roku! When will this be fixed!? It’s been months now!

Ya 2 years i had switch and its getting worse and worse, there is no explanation as in why there is lag, i ruled out everything, it comes and goes ,some times its good, sometimes itsbad and late in input

    • @TraceguyRune

Buy a new TV. The TV is 100% the culprit for the lag. There is no justification for lag when using wired controller, or the fact that the lag doesn't exist in handheld mode. This is not a Switch problem. If you're telling the truth about putting the TV in game mode, then your TV is sh!t

Outstanding advice here. I’m not sure why the downvotes. But honestly I’ve had this problem for the last year. I actually have a 75” TV that I won’t play the Nintendo switch on with the kids because I was so irritated with the delay when playing any of the Mario Bros. games. All I did was change the TV display to “Game” and switched my HDMI as you stated and it works. Thank you so much. Its the little things that can be aggravating lol.

The Switch Pro controller just has a lot of latency by default no matter what you do. Really sucks. Playing it directly connected to the Switch itself through USB-C seems to slightly reduce it. But when in docked mode, regardless if it's wired or wireless, it has very noticeable input lag. Very annoying.

    • @TerminalM193

Here's another big tip that is not commonly known. When in handheld mode and/or right before you dock the Switch; turn airplane mode on and Bluetooth on (leaving Wi-Fi and all the other functions off). You will notice 1-2ms less input lag even when using wireless. Reason being is that the Switch uses additional power for wifi. Try also turning of rumble in the system settings as well (pretty much anything that is not needed to play a game). I hope Nintendo modifies and improves power usage in the next Switch.

I heard 85 inch Sony X900h (with hdmi 2.1)and controller delay on Nintendo switch was horrible when I connect it.. I thought it was distance so I moved my Switch really close and even plugged it in.. delay was not fixed until I switch my TV to a Game Mode. which I don't like to use. It make screen slightly flickers and it changed colors too...

    • @jujuu1339

What kind of TV do you have?
Many TVs pick will pick up a Xbox and Playstations right away while Nintendo switches not so much. This causes things like motion smoothing to stay on, causing lag.
What game mode does on most TVs is remove motion smoothing (motion smoothing makes 30 fps look like 60 fps but creates lag to do so)
motion smoothing is pretty much only good for watching sports and such, not when you are controlling something on screen.
Some TV manufactures like to add a color/brightness profile to their game modes so I suggest going in settings and reverting them to your liking. Or you could just turn off motion smoothing on the profile you have right now (motion smoothing named differently per brand)

I’ll push in a direction and nthn happens until I do it multiple times. Then the player moves super delayed and KEEP moving for awhile even when I want him to stop . And yeah some times I look down and my controllers are disconnecting. I’ve cleaned them, switched HDMI cords and ports, sold ALL MY CONTROLLERS AND GOT ALL NEW ONES just for the issue to happen again immediately.

Well I found the "game mode" on my fire stick tv, and if you have one and don't know where it is, go to settings, display, picture settings and then choose the hdmi port your switch is plugged into and switch the "standard" typing it's defaulted to, to game mode. For now it's fixed it but when I would switch hdmi ports it would only stop the input delay for about 5 minutes and then it would start lagging again. Let's hope that doesn't happen with this game mode setting, because then I could actually play mario maker how it was intended to be played and not have to buy a new dock 😂

  • @targetrender9529
    @targetrender9529 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Most of the input lag is from the games themselves. Especially in docked mode. Doom on Switch has horrible input lag, both docked and in handheld mode. A lot of it is to die with games frame rate. 30 frames a second has much more input lag than 60, and other frame rate drops below 20 in heavy action sequences. It’s a shame because Doom looks really amazing for a Switch title

You are too optimistic. There is nothing to do with doom. I play doom (the first old one) it has a lot of FPS (feels like 60) and still lags too much. And when you choose control calibrate - the point of the joystick is so behind the joystick! Btw, most people don't see its behind.

@@MsRomanFed doom classic is laggy because of vsync. They patched ps4 and xb1 verdions with a vsync toggle. You get graphical glitches but the game runs without extra latency. For some reason it couldn't be implemented on switch D:

Hey bro... When I make the TV mode to "Game" then the delay is gone but it just makes the quality much worse? Like in normal it's 1080p and in mode "game" it's like 480-720p

    • @TommyGx69
      @TommyGx69 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Depending on your tv that's normal, your TV is using rendering and other stuff to make the quality of the picture better, so that's completely normal. I have this on my 8 yr Old Samsung OLED as also on my Samsung QLED.
That's btw why it lags then, because it needs a bit more time to render it

Sadly, non of the solutions worked, and the TV I use is not that old (2015) and has delay while the o e I use in my room which is way older (2012) has almost no delay
