This was an amazing video. Hugely-hugely motivating. I’ve been heavily considering building my own wheelset. I build everything else on my bikes from the frame up- except the wheels and I feel like that’s like the Holy Grail of bike building.
I’m a huge huge fan of DT Swiss hubs, which is one of the biggest reasons why I’m looking into building my own wheels. In this video has been hugely motivational. I appreciate all the time you put into this, thank you!

Nice one. I did exactly the same thing with my wheels last year (I just put them on DT350s and use them on road). They are still going strong with no problem. Satisfaction factor in building your own wheels is amazing :).

This was a really great video. For anyone who has ever wondered what goes into buying or making your own wheels, this is a terrific overview. The wheels you built probably aren't a good economic value compared with the Zip 303 if you consider the value of your time and resale value (to say nothing of the investment in tools) but I truly appreciate what you said about your interest in learning how to build and repair your bike and the zen of wrenching on it yourself, which I share. I'm looking forward to your next video!

It is because zipp 303 are crap wheels with horrible hubs. This setup here is way superior to zipp 303.

@@kubackjeeeI can attest to this. My freehub on that 303 wheelset seized and there was no coming off. In the meantime I heard of the same problem on someone else's Zipp hubs.

Nice project! I also like to know how to fix my bike, but sometimes I‘m just stuck. I recently my chain and brake pads. The latter was successful, but after cleaning and the replacement of the chain, the rear derailleur is wiggling around in certain gears. No idea what caused this and how to fix it. But doing the work was fun anyways. Also, I agree with time being a huge factor. Since I never did this before and in the middle, things kinda went wrong, the whole service took me 1,5 days, including a deep clean and relubing of certain parts.
