I had a JW come to my door a few years ago, I asked the lady if she believed that only 144,000 people were going to heaven, she said Yes. I then asked her how many people followed JW Faith, she said millions. I then asked her how does she knows she is one of the 144,000? She said we have different beliefs and to have a nice day. I told her the same and that Christ died for all of us.

@@jazzbassf I don't know what they teach at the Catholic church, but based on the bible, we know that Jesus, being part of the Holy Trinity, is God's son and God in one. He is equal with God as mentioned in John 10:30 which states "I and My father are one." Jesus paid a debt no one could pay by dying on the cross for our sins (which I'm sure you know). So if we sin, we can repent of that sin by crying out to God in forgiveness. But after obtaining this grace and mercy from God, Paul says in Romans 6:1, 2 that this does not get us a free pass to sin. Read this passage,
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
      ‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:1-11‬
God created a way for us to become righteous, not by our own works, but through him. Glory and praise to the father!!

At Mark 13:32, Jesus Christ said: “But of that day or that hour [of God’s coming execution of judgment] no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” But if the Father and the Son are coequal, how could the Son be ignorant of things the Father knows? ‘Jesus had two natures,’ some will answer. ‘Here he is speaking as a man.’ And, yet, even if that were so, what about the “Holy Ghost”? If it is the third person of the Trinity, why does it not know? A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. And the “Holy Ghost” is part of the Trinitarian chain.
Similarly, on an earlier occasion Jesus had said: “No one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son.” (Luke 10:22) Once again, what about the “Holy Ghost”? If it is a conscious part of the “Godhead,” coequal with the Father and the Son, why does it not know?
More than 20 years after Jesus died and ascended to heaven, the apostle Paul wrote: “‘For who has known the mind of the Lord [the Father] so as to instruct him?’ But we have the mind of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 2:16) How is it possible to have “the mind of Christ” and yet not know “the mind of the Lord”-if the Father and the Son are coequal? This doctrine was unknown to the Hebrew prophets and Christian apostles.
The New Catholic Encyclopedia (1967 edition, Vol. XIV, p. 306) admits that “the doctrine of the Holy Trinity is not taught in the OT [Old Testament].” It also admits that the doctrine must be dated as from about three hundred and fifty years after the death of Jesus Christ. So the early Christians who were taught directly by Jesus Christ did not believe that God is a “Trinity.”
When Jesus was on earth he certainly was not equal to his Father, for he said there were some things that neither he nor the angels knew but that only God knew. (Mark 13:32) Furthermore, he prayed to his Father for help when undergoing trial. (Luke 22:41, 42) Also, he himself said: “The Father is greater than I am.” (John 14:28) Because of this, Jesus spoke of his Father as “my God” and as “the only true God.”-

    • @alexshatner3907
      @alexshatner3907 ปีที่แล้ว

@acousticcade3889 Jesus never claimed to be God, yet there are tons of scriptures that show Jesus is not God but the son of God, and just one scripture of many is Jesus remained modest, always directing all glory to his Father: “Why do you call me good? Nobody is good, except one, God.” “The Son cannot do a single thing of his own initiative.” “I seek, not my own will, but the will of him that sent me.”-Luke 18:18, 19; John 5:19, 30; 8:46; 14:6. In the book of Revelation the glorified Lord Jesus Christ repeatedly speaks of his Father as “my God.” At Revelation 3:12, for example, we read: “The one that conquers-I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will by no means go out from it anymore, and I will write upon him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem which descends out of heaven from my God, and that new name of mine.” This is in full harmony with Jesus’ earlier statement to Mary Magdalene: “I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.”-John 20:17

What Winger has said is not true, the pharisees accused Jesus of "breaking the sabbath"... which was a lie because they misunderstood what the sabbath meant.. likewise the pharisees thought that making yourself the son of someone, makes you the same as their father,.. which is also not true..... I am not my father, but I am my father's son, it doesn't make me my father, it seems logic is thrown out the window in favor of trying to think you can understand the bible when you're a Trinitarian... And of course this begs the next question if you are evangelical and believe what wingers told you.....
did Jesus break the Sabbath as the Jews accused him of doing...
I would be interested to know if trinitarians thought Jesus did break his father's laws....as he was accused of by the Jews.... If on the other hand he didn't break the law then neither was he making himself = to God by claiming to be the Son of God..... I can't understand the reasoning, it's ridiculous to think that being the son makes you the father, but remember what Jesus said about the Jews, the religious leaders were from their father the devil,.. . so I have to ask you also why would trinitarians try to take the word of enemies of Christ In proving their doctrine of the Trinity,... all I can say is shame on you..
It seems Mr winger came up with this on his own, hence why it fails....again.

Open the door with your Bible in hand and go to John 14:6. Keep the discussion and focus on that verse because it puts the focus on JESUS.

Coupled with your "verse of the day," the question could be asked of them "Why does the Watchtower claim to be "the truth" when Jesus Himself already said that HE is the Truth?" "THE truth" is very specific (not 'a' truth') and it is JESUS, not the Watchtower. You have a great method. I hope I added to it a bit. Blessings!

@@NickHawaii Matt 5:22 (NWT): "However, I say to you that everyone who continues wrathful+ with his brother will be accountable to the court of justice"
NWT here has Jesus stating that if one becomes angry (wrathful), then they have sinned. Jesus got angry twice, so the NWT states that Jesus is a sinner which invalidates the Gospel. The word/concept of 'continued wroth' isn't even represented in the original Greek that I can tell for this verse.

    • @NickHawaii
      @NickHawaii 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Starwars is Dead Sadly that's not what the NWT is saying at all. Right now I'm actually putting my hand on my forehead, shaking my head back and forth. It's actually painful to hear someone literally butcher the text and the understanding of the NWT, as bad as you just did.
The NWT translation is in fact not saying that if someone becomes angry, that they have sinned. This is in direct conflict and violation of what the scriptures teach.
For instance, the Greek translated word for anger at Matthew 5:22 is "orgizo". Definition #1 is to "be angry", and also "is positive when inspired of God, and negative when arising from the flesh."
To further confirm that anger can be a good thing, and is not in of itself a sin, is further confirmed at Ephesians 4:26, were we read "Be wrathful, but do not sin." Please quote this from your favorite translation.
The Greek word for "wrathful" here at Ephesians 4, is the same Greek word that is used at Matthew 5:22 for "anger".
Therefore the scriptures indicate it is okay to become upset, if someone verbally or emotionally abuses you, or if you in fact see injustice taking place. You can in fact get upset, and justifiable anger is not in of itself sin. However as the scriptures indicate, just do not sin. It is when anger gets out of control, and a person loses his temper, that sin is likely to result.
So therefore the NWT has rendered the text correctly, in that harboring resentment, or holding on to anger toward a fellow believer, for quite a period of time will result in sin.
Finally the Borean Bible translates Matthew 5:22, similarly to the NWT, we read "But I say to you that everyone being angry with his brother"...

    • @starwarsisdead5731
      @starwarsisdead5731 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@NickHawaii yes. Your bible somewhat follows Alexandrian text. That is where you get a passage that make christ a sinner. Your bible contradicts itself.
Matt 5:22 "borean bible" aka minority text. "But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment."
ANYONE including the speaker himself since this quote is before the cross. So ephesians can say whatever it wants. It contradicts itself. Who is telling the truth here? Jesus? Paul?
The usage of it was orgizomenos, "being angry with". The quote gives no context of which anger. Just anger. Moreover it is a direct command from Jesus about anger so referencing God in this context makes no sense since this is about contrasting people against sin and anger. Not God and anger. Most scholars side with the byzantine text for issues like this. But to accept that is to accept also that Jesus is our Lord and Savior.

Starwars is Dead Yes the form used of this word was ὀργιζόμενος, a present passive participle verb form of the word. it comes from the root οργη, meaning anger. that Jesus showed anger, got angry on several occasions is beyond dispute. "For example, the anger of Jesus was not simply “spiritual” anger; it was real anger (Mark 3:1-6) which sometimes involved inflamed speech (e.g., Matt. 18:1-6; 23:1-39; cf. Gal. 5:12; Rev. 16) as well as physical violence (John 2:15)" Holmgren, F. C. (1987). Israel alive again: a commentary on the books of Ezra and Nehemiah (p. 155).
In fact the Dictionary of Bible themes section 2009 is entitled "Jesus Christ, Anger of" which details every place Jesus showed anger.
So a student of the Bible needs to reconcile verse 5:22 with the fact that Jesus got angry on occasion. Most translations are vastly inferior to the NWT translation in translating the present participle as "is angry", "are angry" with exceptions of the NEB and REB (an update of the NEB) that have "nurses anger".
These other translation give the impression that just to get angry is a sin, which Ephesians 4:26 and Ecclesiastes 1 for instance proves that it is not, (unless all hate is without anger, LOL).
The NWT translators understood that while on many occasions the present tense/aspect of a verb may be simply translated with the present tense forms of 'to be', is and are, the context and general knowledge of the subject must also be consulted as to whether the continuous action of the verb -which also can be nuanced in the present tense needs to be emphasized.
The continuous action of the verb is emphasized by the NWT by the NWT rendering, "continues wrathful", hence the long duration of anger against one's brother is emphasized by the the NWT, NEB and REB, but virtually all other translations cause Jesus to be a hypocrite with their un-nuanced translations.
Hence your argumentation is actually against all OTHER translations that do not pick up on this nuance, so they make Matthew 5:22 sound as though it is wrong to ever get angry, tell Jesus that .
Most translations state they follow NA28 as their translation source whereas NWT follows WH. Yet majority of translations switch to following the wescott/hort greek text at Mark 1:41 and read 'moved with compassion' following the greek verb in WH, σπλαγχνισθεις, having been moved with pity, instead of the Greek text they usually follow, NA28 which actually has a form of orgizo, ὀργισθείς, having been made angry, hence another proof of Jesus becoming temporarily angered, having the emotion of anger. note the following.
"The NIV describes Jesus as “filled with compassion.” What the NIV does not note is that a very old and important manuscript (D) reads “filled with anger.” In this context and coming from Jesus, anger initially seems wrong. That may argue for its originality, however, since copyists tended to change difficult readings into more acceptable ones.
Moreover, the fact that both Matt 8:3 and Luke 5:13 omit the word in their retelling of the story is more explainable if the original word were “anger” than if it were “compassion.” Anger may not be as offensive as it first appears if one recalls that in Judg 10:16 “[God] became indignant over the misery of Israel” (RSV), much as Jesus does here.
If “anger” was the original reading, it must clearly mean that Jesus was indignant at the misery of the leper (so John 11:33-38), for Jesus willingly healed him. As though the leprosy were dispelled by holy wrath, Mark declares, “Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cured.” Edwards, J. R. (2002). The Gospel according to Mark (p. 70). Eerdmans.

I don't know much about Jehovah witness(es), but I had a couple of elderly jw ladies who knocked on the door this afternoon. Quick side note I'm a new Christian - gave my life to Christ September 12, 2019. Following the short small talk with the ladies I told them as they walked up, I'd rcd a strong presence of the Holy Spirit and just prior I was also in the house listening to a sermon/podcast about the book of Revaluation. Then with excitement I raised my hand up high and said "Lord Jesus, please come back soon!"

I can't understand the reasoning, it's ridiculous to think that being the son makes you the father, but remember what Jesus said about the Jews, the religious leaders were from their father the devil,.. . so I have to ask you also why would trinitarians try to take the word of enemies of Christ In proving their doctrine of the Trinity,... all I can say is shame on you.

Why should i believe this person, did he do miracles to prove he was from God? Do your beliefs match up with first century Christian beliefs? If not, why? Do you believe Christianity was wrong until your organisation turned up? If so, why do you believe any of it, including the bible?

      .
Basically, if the Bible is insufficient, then why trust any of it? Jesus affirmed the Old Testament, and he proved what the inspired NT authors say about him thru miracles and the resurrection. Christianity all hinges on Jesus being trustworthy, and in the end we trust him with our souls or we do not.

I have a number of approaches, but perhaps one of the best is to say, "I will become a Witness if you can show me that Jerusalem fell in 605 BC, from a source OTHER than the Watchtower organisation." I realise this is obscure to a non-JW, but this date is key to their prophetic timeline, and if it's wrong - which it is, Jerusalem fell in 586 BC - much of what they claim collapses like a house of cards. You will not get them to admit they're wrong to your face, but they will go home and check. And then their problems begin.

I lived in an area where there’s some pretty aggressive and relentless JWs that would routinely pound on my door. There’s always two of them- one is experienced, and one is inexperienced. And they always have a pitch. The aggressive one, the one who starts the conversation, or attempts to start the conversation with you at the door has more “experience”.
I had a good friend in high school and elementary school who was raised in the JW religion, so I had a lot of exposure to their crap.
Anyway, on this particular day, I got my door banged on by them. I knew who they were before I even opened the door. The experienced one throws her pitch out at me immediately, and hers was, “We are here on ‘Christian’ business, and we know that everybody is worried about all the terrible things that are going on in the world and it’s really scary.” Okay. Weird. Opening up with fear tactics to try to draw you in.
I was kind of busy and I don’t know where it came from but I wanted to end the conversation before it even started, and so I responded “I don’t really worry about what’s going on in the world today. I put my faith in Jesus Christ. Who do you put your faith in?“
That was the closest I ever saw actual steam coming out of someone’s ears. The nervous inexperienced girl was shuffling her feet and looking at her “leader“ for some kind of direction, and the experienced woman snarled at me and huffed a little bit, jammed her watchtower magazines back into the briefcase, and stormed off.
I guess that was too challenging of a question for her.
During 2020 I started getting handwritten letters from JWs instead of visits because of Covid. I wrote back to one of them. I was polite, but I told them that I was annoyed that are they only used their first names… No last name… And gave no real return address on their letter, and Yet felt that it was OK to know MY name, first and last, and send me a letter where they could remain anonymous basically. The return address was their particular branch of kingdom hall. I also told them that they probably should throw away the perverted Bible and go to the web site, bible gateway, and do some comparison reading of the different legitimate versions of the Scriptures. They did not respond.
I’ve tried to engage with JW as a few times, and used scripture and was patient and kind and so on and so on but my experience was that they are so brainwashed that most of them just are literally spiritually blind. I did unsettle a number of inexperienced ones when I used scripture to point out their errors… So maybe those planted seeds took hold… I don’t know, but the longer a person is in that cult, the harder it is for them to break away.

(they said "he should be unseeing the grey NWT not the black one) That just made me think blimey how often do they change their book? I did say to them I was disappointed in them refusing to watch the video as it says to me that their faith is easily rocked.

Hello Mike, i am sorry to say this in a harsh manner but you are out of your mind for saying all that you've said. Please stop misleading these people..! Jesus himself said " my father" and not my son.! Be wise and use your common sense to think.! Mr Mike, oh please stop misleading the public. A day would come when your child, your son would call you his son, i hope that would make you happy. Jesus never ever mentioned in any part of the bible that God was his son.
Jesus never claimed to be on the same level as Almighty God. He said: “The Father is greater than I am.”-John 14:28.
Jesus’ early followers did not view him as being equal to Almighty God. For example, the apostle Paul wrote that after Jesus was resurrected, God “exalted him [Jesus] to a superior position.” Obviously, Paul did not believe that Jesus was Almighty God. Otherwise, how could God exalt Jesus to a superior position? -Philippians 2:9.
Jesus himself says; My "Father" has kept working until now, and I keep working.”-John 5:17.
hey consider it blasphemy for him to view God as his Father, as if Jesus’ saying that Jehovah is his Father amounts to making himself equal to God. However, Jesus is unafraid and answers them further regarding his special relationship with God. “The Father has affection for the Son,” he says, “and shows him all the things he himself does.”-John 5:20.
Jesus continues: “Just as the Father raises the dead up and makes them alive, so the Son also makes alive whomever he wants to.” (John 5:21) What a meaningful statement, giving hope for the future! Even now, the Son is raising the dead in a spiritual sense. Hence, Jesus says: “Whoever hears my word and believes the One who sent me has everlasting life, and he does not come into judgment but has passed over from death to life.”-John 5:24
As extraordinary as Jesus’ role is, he makes it clear that he is subordinate to God, stating: “I cannot do a single thing of my own initiative. . . . I seek, not my own will, but the will of him who sent me.” (John 5:30)
Please everybody reading this comment; do you always say something because somebody told you to say it, you're human, human just like that person trying to mislead you. Do your research, come up with your own answers so you could always answer for yourself and not say what other people are saying. God bless you all.

I’ve confronted the Jehovah Witness several times . When you tell them that the King James Version of the Bible is still the best transition of the Bible they get locked up . Then I take them to the scriptures in the KJV and prove that Jesus is God manifested in the flesh . That the name that Jesus declared in John 17:20 where it says “ And I have declared unto them thy name , and will declare it : that the love wherewith thou hast love me , may be in them , and I in them “ . The name Jehovah is never mentioned in anywhere in the four gospels. The only name He ever declared is Jesus which means Jehovah has become our salvation . Then if their still there I give them Isaiah 9:6 where it says the child born is “ the mighty God , the Everlasting Father, the prince of peace “ . He’s the Emmanuel which being interpreted God with us . In Matthew 1:23 . 1TIMOTHY 3:16 “ Great is the mystery of Godliness, God was manifest in the flesh “. John 14:9 Jesus said to Philip “ he that hath seen me hath seen the Father “ . Revelation 1:8 Jesus calmed to be the “ Almighty “ . And the Bible is full of scriptures that’s proves Jesus is The Father . They will be looking for the door when you give the chapter and verse of who Jesus is . Have a blessed day .

Louis Whitehead I covered Isaiah 9:6 in a post above. That's the problem with the KJV, it was translated by people who believed in the Trinity so that was reflected in the wording that was used. The fact is, in the 1800's the Church of England decide a new updated version was necessary since the Authorized Version had so many errors. The Revised Standard Version of 1901.
John 14:7-9 The Greek word that Matthew uses for “see” also means “to see with the mind, to perceive, know.” Since Jesus perfectly reflected God’s personality, he could say: “He that has seen me has seen the Father also.”

John 1:18 " No man has seen God at any time; the only-begotten god who is at the Father’s side is the one who has explained Him.
" The Bible does not contradict itself.
You need a modern English version of the Bible where most all the translation errors of the KJV have been corrected.
Revelation 1:8 “The Lord God says, ‘I am the Alpha and the Omega, the One who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty!’” (The New American Bible) Clearly, the reference here is to the Most High God Jehovah.
While Jesus Christ is referred to in the previous verse as “coming with the clouds,” the words of Revelation 1:8 and the surrounding verses show that he could not be “the Alpha and the Omega.” In the Scriptures, only the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ is spoken of as “the Lord God” and as the “Almighty.” Jesus Christ even refers to his Father as “my God.” (John 20:17; Rev. 3:12
There is no Scripture that says the Father and Jesus are the same person. It may appear that way but an unbiased examination of Scripture clarifies that.
According to the King James Version (1611), 1 Timothy 3:16 was rendered: “God was manifest in the flesh.” However, were you aware that a long battle took place to obtain an accurate text? One individual who was involved in this was John James Wetstein (1693-1754).
With many other manuscripts now confirming Wetstein’s reading, accurate modern translations read: “He was made manifest in flesh,” or “He who . . . ,” referring to Jesus Christ. (American Standard, Moffatt, Weymouth, Spencer, The New English Bible) But Wetstein was charged with tampering with the text and speaking against the doctrine of the Trinity, and this was viewed as heretical.
Accurate modern translations read: “He was made manifest in flesh,” or “He who . . . ,” referring to Jesus Christ. (American Standard, Moffatt, Weymouth, Spencer, The New English Bible)
By the way, I wouldn't be looking for the door, I'd just show you the Truth.

Dave Jordan , in John 4:24 Jesus said “ God is a Spirit , and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth “ . So that tells us that God the Father is the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit . Father and Holy Spirit is the self same God . It’s not two beings but one Spirit . In Matthew 1:20 it says “ But while he thought on these things , Behold , the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream , saying , Joseph , thou sin of David , fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife : for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost “ . So the Father of Jesus is the Holy Ghost. In Colossians 1:15 it says , referring to Jesus , “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature “ . Take your Bible now and read through verse 20 in that chapter. When Jesus appeared to the disciples after his resurrection in John 20:27-29 it says in verse 28 “ And Thomas answered and said unto him , ( Jesus ) My Lord And my God “. Peter said in Acts 2:36 “ Therefore Let all the house of Israel know assuredly , they God hath made that same Jesus , whom ye have crucified , both Lord and Christ “ . Acts 20:28 says “ Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock , over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers , to feed the church of God , which he purchased with his own blood “. This scripture said God purchased the church with his own blood . But God the Father didn’t have blood so he became a man so he could purchase the Church with his own blood . You see God had three titles. He was Father of creation , Son in redemption , Holy Ghost in regeneration . That’s not complicated to understand . I’m a Father , I’m a son , I’m a husband , I’m a grandfather , I’m a teacher , I’m a musician , and the list goes on but there’s only one of me . Their just titles to what I am in different situations . I’m a teacher to my pupils , I’m a father to my children , I’m a husband to my wife , I’m a musician when I play music . Jesus is the Emmanuel which being interpreted God with us in Matthew 1:23 . Jesus said several times to the Jews “ You neither know the scriptures nor the power of God “. 2 Corinthians 4:6 says “ For God , Who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts , to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ “. Maybe this little Bible study will enlighten you on who God is and his name is “ JESUS “ .

God has a Throne and Jesus sits at his right hand, the 24 elders have thrones and so do all the saints, where is the throne of the Holy Spirit in heaven. thank./ Many blessings to you if you can see that the holy spirit is not a person, even thought there are many figurative descriptions on earth which is no more a mystery than personalizing chapter Psalms 148.Praise him, sun and moon;
praise him, all you shining stars.
4 Praise him, you highest heavens

so Crystal my friend is the holy spirit a person in heaven like Christ and the Father?
The father has a throne, Jesus has a throne, the 24 elders have at throne and all the saints have thrones. Jesus has white hair, the father has white hair, Jesus has a robe, the father has a robe. So please can you show me one scripture of a similar description of the holy spirit in heaven? So far I have never found one single scripture with such a description. According to the bible the holy spirit is everywhere and it is God's spirit of power, but it is never described as a person in heaven. Please do not show me figurative speech on earth since I can show you figurative of inanimate things described as persons like the mountains the sea etc praising God.. I can also show you blood described as crying from the ground to God, blood is not a person. Only humans can praise God see Psalms 148 "3:3 Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light.
4 Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens.
5 Let them praise the name of the Lord: for he commanded, and they were created.
this is why God's word is alive and exerts power Hebs 4:12

    • @jazzbassf
      @jazzbassf 5 ปีที่แล้ว

@crystal words here are more scriptures that personify inanimate things in the bible, so are these people or persons?
'Let the floods clap their hands; let the hills sing together for joy' (Psalm 98:8).
'When the waters saw you, they were afraid; the very deep trembled' (Psalm 77:16).
'Then the moon will be abashed, and the sun ashamed' (Isaiah 24:23).
'What have you done? Listen; your brother's blood is crying out to me from the ground' (Genesis 4:10).
so it is with personifying the holy spirit which is God's power or his active force which is clearly seen in the bible when it speaks about God's powerful holy spirit.

@@jazzbassf Your argumentation is a red herring. There are several other verses that show that the Holy Spirit is a person. "When HE, the Spirit of Truth comes, HE will guide you into all the truth." Even though the Greek word for Spirit is neuter, John doesn't use neuter pronouns and definite articles that are neuter. John breaks grammar rules there and uses MASCULINE articles and pronouns. There are many verses in the New Testament that show the personality of the Holy Spirit.

Hey Mike, thank you for this resource! I tried to implement the two John Scriptures just this afternoon and while I think it went fairly ok, the “main” JW was trying to get me off track by saying how the Holy Spirit isn’t mentioned in John 1:1, and before I could get to John 5:16-18 he took me to Philippians 2:6 and pulled that verse out of context without me realizing it. He was using an iPad that had their JW app installed on it, and had the KJV and ASV and was as their “Kingdom Translation” of the Greek text. Personally I prefer the ESV and NASB, so that’s what I told the “main” JW I prefer to use, and he seemed unfamiliar with the NASB and didn’t seem to have access to it within his JW app. I told them that I believe in the Trinity, and he tried to ask if that word is in the Bible, I countered by saying that I know it isn’t, but I believe that Scripture supports that God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit are three in one. He encouraged me to look through my Bible and find any and all evidence for that belief and we’ll use “my” Bible for our next get together. I may be a little pessimistic here, but I think I’ll be countered by them saying something to the effect of, “You’re using a poorly translated version of the Scriptures, here’s what it says in our translation and here’s our translation of the Greek text.” It seems like I have some homework to do! Definitely was not expecting the iPad and their app.

John’s gospel reflects Christian theology, not the authentic Jesus. This is the main reason why John claims Jesus died a full 24 hours BEFORE he died in Mark, Matthew and Luke.
--Jesus taught--quote--“ALL” in parables. There are no parables in John.
--Jesus not only spoke in parables, he also used short, unique aphorisms [pithy short sayings]. In John, Jesus is made to speak in long, dense theological speeches, all about himself and the importance of believing in him. Jesus did not speak this way in Mark, Matthew or Luke.
--The majority of Jesus’ teachings were about the destitute and the marginalized. John’s gospel says NOTHING about the poor.
John is about John’s opinion about what Jesus means. Mark, Matthew and Luke are about what Jesus said and taught.
The Christian obsession with John shows that today’s believers prefer to worship Christ on some pedestal instead of actually following Jesus.
“Why do you call me good? Only God is good.”
“Friend, who made me a judge over you?"
"Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage [Philippians 2:6]."
"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the Son, but the Father only [Matthew 24:36].”
“Our Father who art in heaven [Matthew 6:9]."
"My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me? [Matthew 27:46].”
And the few verses are not the only ones that clearly indicate Jesus did not see himself as God.
Let’s let Jesus speak for himself instead of putting exalted, Roman Empire-like descriptions placed into his mouth after the crucifixion. Don’t worship Christ as Caesar was worshiped. Pay attention to what Jesus taught.

An honest faith in the Bible won't counter one passage with another but start with the idea that "all these passages must be true". If we believe that all the passages are true we must comprehensively believe them, meaning that we can say that "Jesus is equal to the Father" and "the Father is greater than Jesus".
Now, if Jesus is equal to the Father and should be honored as the Father this seems to mean that He is God (which doctrine is supported in many other passages), how do we reconcile this with the idea that the "Father is greater". Well, one can be greater in many different senses. Greater in position, in power, in authority, in location, in nature, in size, in wealth, in skill, etc. Well, several of the ways in which one can be greater than another can apply to Jesus without it contradicting the idea that He is equal to the Father and should be honored as the Father is honored. Jesus could be saying that the Father has a leadership role in the trinity that the Son submits to. Your wife may submit to you (making you greater in position) without this meaning that she is not equal to you. The point here is that the tactic of simply throwing out one passage to contradict another is the worst kind of theology, in doing so you selectively use the Bible to prove your point rather than going to the Bible to learn what it says comprehensively about God.

    • @MikeWinger
      @MikeWinger  10 ปีที่แล้ว

It would be odd to suspect that you need a verse saying the Father is under subjection to the Son in order to believe that the Son is God. A better standard would be to require that the Bible clearly teach that Jesus is God. Which it does. In the passage I quote in the video it clearly teaches it (along with many others). You claim Jesus isn't equal with the Father but that is exactly what the passage claims. It is clearly NOT a claim that other people thought He was. Knowing Greek isn't required to see that the passage in John 5 is not a commentary about the reasoning of the Pharisees but John's divinely inspired interpretation of Jesus' statement to mean that Jesus is equal to God. And, as if to drive the point in even more clearly and indisputably, Jesus says that Jesus is to be honored to the same degree as the Father. Well, if you are honoring someone AS God then either they ARE God or they are an idol. No angel would ask to be honored as the Father because it would be like the sin of Satan who wanted to be as God.

    • @MikeWinger
      @MikeWinger  10 ปีที่แล้ว

Jerry Collins When you challenge the idea that Jesus and the Father are the same you are on the right track! They can't be the same and still have any distinction between them. Jesus can't be the same as the Father if Jesus isn't the Father. This is one of the reasons why Christians throughout the centuries have rejected the false doctrine that Jesus is the Father in human form. This false teaching is rebuked by the Bible in many places (such as the baptism of Jesus where the Father is speaking, while the Son is being baptized, while the Spirit is descending upon the Son). The Bible clearly limits us to a belief that Jesus is equal to the Father but not the same as the Father. This has led some people to believe that their are three gods. But the idea that there are three gods is even more blatantly false and unbiblical than the other false teaching that Jesus is the same as the Father. When we just say "I will believe the Bible in it's entirety" we are left with only one option... That the Father is God, Jesus is God and the Spirit is God. However, we balance this out with the truth that there is only one God. So, the Father is not the Son but each of them is the one God. This might sound irritating to some people because they feel it can't be comprehended but that is irrelevant. The only relevant question is "what does the Bible teach about Who God Is?" If the Bible really teaches this triune understanding of God then we have only two rational choices. 1- choose to believe the Bible's teaching even though you don't fully understand everything it implies. 2- choose to reject the Bible and not call yourself a follower of Christ. The option you have chosen is an irrational one: choose to reject the Bible's teaching about the identity of God (as Father, Son and Spirit) yet still claim to be a Bible believer. It's understandable if you are merely trusting the teaching of others but if you have read carefully and comprehensively in the Bible then you have no excuse to harbor this irrational position. Doesn't it strike you as odd that your group had to come up with their own translation of the Bible and that they never study books but just take verses out of context? Or that, when confronted with the idea that the Bible disagrees with them their is no room for discussion? Shouldn't an attitude of "if the Bible says I'm wrong then I must be wrong and anyone who points it out is a true friend" be present?

    • @MikeWinger
      @MikeWinger  10 ปีที่แล้ว

Leroy Rogers Jesus claimed He was God every time He said He was "the Son of God" (not "a son of God"). Keep in mind that this was spoken by a Jew to a Jewish audience and they understood it's meaning to be a declaration of Deity. Also, in the passage you quote (which ignores all that John 5 says, which is sad because you can't for right theology by thinking that you can contradict one passage with another) Jesus is clearly NOT saying "I am not God" but I saying "I am RIGHT and NOT blaspheming in my claim to be THE SON OF GOD". Forgive the capitals, I'm not yelling, just emphasizing the right words. So, back to John 5, how do you justify your idea that the passage is teaching that the Pharisees were confused about Jesus' claims? And how do you take "Honor the Son just as they honor the Father"?

I am a JW's and it does not matter which Bible to use when concerning this text and it's context. Concerning John 5:18 which states: “18 This is why the Jews began seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath but he was also calling God his own Father, making himself equal to God.” It was the UNBELIEVING Jews who reasoned that Jesus was attempting to make himself equal with God just by claiming God as his Father. While properly referring to God as his Father, Jesus never claimed equality with God. He straightforwardly answered the Jews: “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing.” (John 5:19,30-32; see also John 14:28; John 10:31-36.) If he "can do nothing of his own accord" he surly is not equal thereby Jesus denied these false charge … he was not equal to God and therefore could not act on his own initiatives. It was those UNBELIEVING Jews, who claimed that Jesus broke the Sabbath, but they were wrong also about that. Jesus kept the Law perfectly, and he even declared: “It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”… Matt. 12:10-12, If Jesus failed and actually broke the Law then God would not have accepted his sacrifice and Mankind would still be what condition?
Here something else to think about. The UNBELIEVING Jews (the religious Leaders) accused him of many things … John Chapter 8 Jesus is speaking how he is the “light of the world” And the Jews say “You bear witness about yourself; your witness is not true.” In verse 16-18 Jesus says: “my judgment is truthful, because I am not alone, but the Father who sent me is with me. Also, in your own Law it is written: ‘The witness of two men is true.’ 18 I am one who bears witness about myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness about me.” (this also shows Jesus and Jehovah are not the same for he would not use this example of the law of 2 witnesses). In verse 37- 40 Jesus confront them because he know they are seeking to kill him and tells them that their father is Satan saying at verse 44 “You are from your father the Devil, and you wish to do the desires of your father” and they respond back and accuse him at verse 48 “You are a Sa•mar′i•tan and have a demon’?” Well as we continue to read ahead we see that Jesus denies these accusations also but they continue accusing him of having a demon. This discussion/argument that is taking place is about who knows the Father and Jesus came before Abraham. What really interesting is what Jesus says’s concerning his Father verse 55 “Yet you have not known him, but I know him. And if I said I do not know him, I would be like you, a liar. But I do know him and am observing his word.” Did you get that? He has made know … that they (UNBELIEVING Jews) not only don’t know his “Father” but he calls them a liar!!!! Jesus was perfect and he fulfilled the Law perfectly he did not break the law … so he not only denied the accusations he shows that they are LIARS!!! And remember his witness is true because his Father Jehovah witness it also. So why would anyone except UNBELIEVING Jews accusations that accused him of being equal to God or even having a demon that Jesus claims their father is Satan and that Jesus blatantly calls them a liars... why do you believe their accusations as absolute truth? I believe Jesus … and I most definitely would not come to the same wrong conclusions like these UNBELIEVING Jews!!! The scriptures clearly show that Jesus is not Jehovah Almighty God!!! Does not matter which Bible u use.

The book is written by inspiration by the Apostle John if he say's that's what happen then I believe him ... just like the rest of the books of the Bible ... they are inspired ... your reasoning is not valid. We all know the history of when this doctrine came to be taught (not until the 4th century). Again Jesus is calling them a "liar" (the Jews not the Apostle John) and their father is "Satan". When does a lie come to be truth? Why would anyone except what these UNBELIEVING Jews say ... Jesus own testimony also say's concerning these UNBELIEVING Jews that they did not know the "Father" and yet again you believe what the UNBELIEVING Jews say as accurate information. These UNBELIEVING Jews also did not except that he was the Messiah and in the end they killed him ... and yet your take their accusation as truth??? This is really mind boggling to me!!! You need to answer this question for me. When does a Lie come to be truth? I'll be waiting for your reply but of course I know the answer!

preto shohmoofc guy; Claudia Yamileth; Again your twisting the scriptures ... it pretty clear to anyone that's reading it. It says the Jews accused him of being equal ... Its the reason why they were *seeking to kill him* John reported on the 2 reasons 1. was they felt he was breaking the law according to their traditions and again 2. they concluded he was equal to God. And what does Jesus do *he responds to the accusation of being equal* and denies it!!! This is pretty clear by reading the chapter. It proves that John 1:1 in Trinity Bible's is clearly wrong. Jesus judges them to be *LIARS* and denies the accusation and their Father is *Satan*... a lie is a lie ... does not matter who accused him of it in the 1st century or the 4th century or even today *it will always be a lie!!!* Jesus is the expert on this issue and he settled long ago! When does a lie come to be truth? *NEVER*

R&S, Thanks for taking the time to watch my video and comment on it. One trouble I have seen impacting those who come out of JWs or some other groups is that they have heard years of false representations of biblical Christianity. In the case of the doctrine of the Trinity this is almost always misrepresented by Watchtower publications. It's not that the Watchtower offers good refutations of the doctrine of who Jesus is so much as they misrepresent Christian belief about Jesus and then prove wrong that misrepresentation. I think this is worth much more time but it's worth starting our conversation by me asking permission to define the doctrine of the identity of Christ. Jesus is not the same as the Father (we agree on that). Jesus is God but is not the Father. This may seem like a hard concept but the question isn't "is the revelation of Who God is easy to understand?" but "What is the biblical revelation of Who God is?"
Let me post some verses here that support this idea and I won't offer any interpretation of them, I merely ask that you read them with this thought in mind. Does this teach both that Jesus is God and that He is not the same as the Father? Colossians 2:9 (NKJV)

+Mike Winger Thanks for the response Mike. I appreciate the scriptures you used to show your side of the discussion. The issue that I would raise is this. None of those scriptures are Jesus' words. They are all statements made by others regarding him and God. I don't consider those statements to be any more true than those issued forth by so called holy men of our modern age. Granted, when it all boils down, we might as well be having a disagreement about characters from Lord of the Rings as the bible is at it's core just another book. But for the sake of this discussion, I would be more apt to believe the words spoken by the person in question over the beliefs of someone else. I actually am surprised that I am answering back at all as it is not my intention to give subjects such as these this much attention. But hey, this is fun right?

I understand your point about the references not being Jesus' words themselves. This really is a new discussion about the Bible itself rather than a discussion about the biblical definition of Jesus' identity. I can supply passages where Jesus' own words show a claim to deity such as John 8:58 (read in context) or Matt 28:19 (one name for the Father, Son and Spirit) or the passage in question in this video (John 5). However, I think there is an even more important discussion about the Bible itself that you might be interested in. I actually have a video series I am in the middle of making called "Evidence for the Bible" where I offer, what I believe to be, compelling evidence for the divine origin of the Bible. I will be answering, in detail, many of the common objections to the Bible but I have started the series by first offering evidence that God has spoken in the Bible through the testable means of prophecy. Here is that series, and know that I am open to your disagreements with me on the things I share.

@@ottooctavius585 , it is part of John's inspired commentary to explain that the reason the Pharisees we're seeking to kill Jesus was because Jesus was making himself equal to God. This is how John is explaining the circumstance so there shouldn't be a dispute in the statement Jesus was making himself equal to God. That is how the author John comments on the passage.
John 5:18 (ESV): This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
If someone does not believe Jesus is Divine, all you need to do is look at the Greek or even the English for the following verses that explicitly call Jesus God.

@@ottooctavius585 , Jesus was not breaking the Sabbath because Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath. Jesus has the right over the Sabbath, so either Jesus was divine or Jesus was breaking the Sabbath.
Secondly, the Pharisees said Jesus was breaking the Sabbath and calling God his own Father, but then John comments that this means Jesus was making himself equal to God. It clear that John is explaining what Jesus' claim to be the one true Son of God would mean.
      The Bible supports a divine Jesus (Hebrews 1:8-9, Titus 2:13, Romans 9:5, John 20:28, 1:1, 1:18, Colossians 2:9, Acts 20:28, 2 Peter 1:1, 1 John 5:20).
Jesus acted as God (Mark 2:28 Lord of the Sabbath, Matthew 12:6 Greater than the Temple , Mark 2:5 Forgives Sins, Mark 2:18-22 Fasting).
Your analogy of a human son not being equal to a human father seems inaccurate because all human beings have equal value and the same nature just as the divine Jesus has the same value and nature of God the Father. Now this is not a perfect analogy because God does not procreate to produce Jesus because by nature the divine Jesus is a necessary eternal being, but this is the way God chose to reveal the triune nature to us.

The name "Jehovah" is not the name God gave Himself, and is not found in the original Greek, Hebrew, or Aramaic texts. His name, transliterated as what's known among bible scholars as the tetragrammaton, was interwoven with the vowel markings for "Adonai" (a title Hebrews used to address God, keeping His name sacrosanct) when translated into German, giving them "Jehovah" (they pronounced it "yay-hoe-vah"). When translated then into English, the translators didn't take into account the German pronunciation of the letter "J", and so the German mistranslation was then further mistranslated as the name that Jehovah's Witnesses use today. I doubt God would condemn you for using the name in ignorance, but if you choose to continue using that name now knowing that it is not His name, I dare say you show Our Father great disrespect, and are sadly guilty of blasphemy.

My favorite question to ask Jehovah Witnesses when they come to my door and I let them and sit them down on my couch, is: _"Can you show me where the Name Jehovah is found in the New Testament?"_ Of course, they run to their New Twirled Perversion of the Bible and I grab my interlinear Greek and English New Testament and show them that the Name Jehovah is not there in the Greek. Instead, where they have printed 'Jehovah', actually, in the Greek, it's: *_"THEOS"!!!_* and sometimes it's even *_"Kurios"_*.
After showing them that the New Testament writers never used or even bothered to spell 'Jehovah' in Greek letters, or come up with any other name for God that even remotely sounds like Jehovah, they begin to get a little uncomfortable.
Then I proceed to ask them who is responsible for the mistranslation in their Bibles. But they don't know who translated their copy of the Bible. Then I ask them; _"So you're trusting the eternal fate of your soul to a group of Bible translators whom you don't know, nor know their level of education or mastery of Hebrew and Greek?"_
_"How then do you know for sure your translation is accurate if: 1.Jehovah is never found in the original Greek NT. and 2. You don't even know who translated your Bible?"_
With that, they go into a tail spin, put their tail between their legs, their books back in their backs, and they walk out.
As they walk down my driveway to the street I remind them: _"It's clear to me, you're trusting in the work of men whom you don't even know, rather than God, whose name Jehovah, was never mentioned by any of the Apostles in the New Testament."_
    They never come back again.
I still pray one day, that one of them will show up at my door and thank me for pointing out this huge flaw in JW dogma, and that in doing so, it precipitated them leaving the organization.

As limited as my insight maybe, yours is obviously incapacitated altogether due to the fact Matthew did not record Jesus using the Greek word _"kurios"_ for YHWH in Matt 4:4. Matthew used the word _"Theos"_ for YHWH as the Jews did in the Septuagint.
Hence, your completely off topic because the discussion was about the word _"Kurios"_ *not* the word _"Theos"_. Nor would I ever believe Jesus would say "the old testament manuscripts.... is WRONG". And you have no grounds, or means, to show that I've even hinted at the idea.
Not having the original manuscripts the Apostles wrote has no relevance either. There are no copies containing any Greek spelling of YHWH. Even if Matthew was first written in Hebrew (no evidence whatsoever), the Greek renditions still fails to write in Greek letters phonetically any form of the spelling of YHWH, Yahweh, or Jehovah.
I suggest you go take your ignorant non sequitur statements and insults somewhere else. You obviously have nothing meaningful to contribute here.

John Freeman+ My Lord and My God, doesn't mean he was calling Jesus God. Couldn't it have meant he recognised God was with Jesus? Aproved by God. Yes . Doesn't mean he thought Jesus was God. In fact when Stephen was stoned he saw Jesus standing beside God, not as God. Why? if Jesus is God then why is he beside God? Besides, what Thomas said doesn't prove the Trinity. If Thomas believed Jesus was God then he would believe Jesus is a Trinity according to the definition of God and Trinity.
All authority has been GIVEN me. You know what given means right. How was Jesus GIVEN authority if he was already God. Shouldn't he have already had it? Of course Jehovahs witnesses are also witnesses of Jesus.
Jehovahs witnesses teach as the bible does that Jesus is the way the truth and the life. You cnnot come to the father without the son. Who did Jesus say was his God?

Any being above us can be called god. It doesn’t make them Almighty God. So are Angels called God’s according to the bible and the original languages? A yes or no will do. Thanks.
Now what about worship. You have to remember again the many uses of the word worship. Where I live, I had to go to court and appear before a judge for a traffic infaction, that I won I must say. Now in my country Canada, what do we call Judges. “Your Worship” Does that mean I am worshipping him and view him as God. Of course not. It is a left over from ancient language.
A professor of Bible languages at Union Theological Seminary in New York, Dr. Marvin R. Vincent, wrote that in the KJV (and other old translations into English) some uses of 'worship' may seem to be
"An unfortunate translation, according to modern English, but justified by the usage of earlier English, according to which to worship meant simply to honor. Worship is worthship, or honor paid to dignity or worth. This usage survives in the [British] expressions 'worshipful' and 'your worship.' In the marriage-service of the English Church occurs the phrase, 'With my body I thee worship.' So Wycliffe [one of the earliest English Bible translators] renders Matthew 19:19, 'Worship thy father and thy mother;' and John 12:26, 'If any man serve me, my Father shall worship him.'" - pp. 533, 534, Word Studies in the New Testament, vol. 1, Sage Software, 1996.
So, just like the Bible words shachah (Hebrew) and proskuneo (Greek), the word 'worship' in English also, until relatively recent times, had various levels of meaning and could be applied to other men in a lower sense of the word. But the very same word also could be used in the highest sense to apply to the one true God only.
So is there any scripture that says Jesus was worshipped as God, No He was shown honor as the Son of God. Rather Jesus himself said he had a God.
Rev 3: 12 “‘The one who conquers-I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will by no means go out from it anymore, and I will write upon him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the New Jerusalem that descends out of heaven from my God, and my own new name.
And did he worship this God?
John 4: 22 You worship what you do not know; WE worship what we know, because salvation begins with the Jews.
Notice the word we. If he is God why does he worship God if he is God
