  • I wish I didn't have to post this video but my 2021 Chevy Silverado LT Trailboss 6.2 has left me stranded! This is a really unfortunate issue plaguing GM vehicles right now and unfortunately I was one of the unlucky ones! I will update y'all whenever they update me, really hoping this issue is resolved properly!

    • @ryannelson8717
      @ryannelson8717 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @KCBOBX by not shutting off half the motor. GM was actually pretty smart and they changed the way it works. It's a variable V4 which means that it doesn't just fire the same 4 cylinders, it still fires all the cylinders it's just half as much. The effective result is that you just have the engine firing half as much, but you still need to maintain the RPM which is. So by using that stored energy to keep it rotating at the same speed, but firing less, you get a better gas milage.
      Edit: typo

    This issue is still happening. Purchased a 6.2 Trailboss yesterday. Today, exactly the same symptoms as your truck experienced. Failure happened with 72 miles on the odometer. Towed to the dealer with them saying one of the cylinders has lost compression caused by a broken spring or collapsed lifter. They will crack it open tomorrow to officially check the cause. The door sill has a manufacturer's date of 7-21. Didn't even have it for a full day.

    First of all, I just want to inform you that I live in Bangkok, Thailand, so the GM products in the Asia/Pacific Region where I am may not be exactly the same as what is sold in North America. Having said that, what I use is a GM vehicle under the Chevrolet badge. We have a Chevrolet Trailblazer, 2015. This is essentially a modified Chevrolet Colorado to create a station wagon, or SUV body-on-frame of the compact size. The engine is a 2.8L Duramax Diesel unit with a turbo charger, putting out 200hp and 500Nm of torque. We use it in town, driving less than 7000km per month, with about 4-5 trips a year to the beach, meaning around 650km per trip (to and fro). After using the vehicle for only 3 years, we had some issues with the engine. At the dealership/garage, they informed us that the turbo body was cracked and needed replacement immediately. My wife informed me of this at the time and I was shocked! I thought that such a major repair should be at least 10 years down the road with the low mileage we have on it. The good news was that the vehicle was still under warranty, so they changed it for us free of charge. They however informed my wife that had we had to pay for the new turbo charger, it would've costed us 37,000 Baht or about 1,100 USDs. We have had the vehicle for nearly 6 years to date and have not had any other major issues with it. Despite not having anymore issues with our Trailblazer, we are not going to buy another GM vehicle not only because GM had just pulled out of the Thai market last year, but also because we still believe we shouldn't have had any major engine problems with the vehicle at all that early on with the otherwise new truck. From now on we will be looking at Toyota just to rid ourselves of any unjustifiable mechanical worries in the future.
    PS: GM had not completely pulled out of the Thai market yet as they have GM auto parts company which are importing parts for sale to showrooms/garages that are still servicing GM vehicles in the country for at least another 10 years. I also heard of Delco working with local investors in setting up Delco service centers that will service GM and other makes as well. Possibly, some time in the future GM will be back in the Asia/Pacific Region.

    I had a 2015 Silverado and at 30K miles the trans started slipping and making a grinding sound. Still under warranty I took it to the dealer and they said that they didn’t fix transmissions there. I saw that there was a class action lawsuit against GM for that same problem.
