- Completing with a 500 TOA raid with sub 500m gear was harder than I expected! I talked through my thoughts in this stream and laid out everything for how to get your fang kit, which invocations to use and how to get this done. Took me 3 tries and was not easy, likely not an easy route for most. I would recommend waiting for voidwaker at a minimum if you can, this allows for a great weapon against core and is huge DPS at many of the bosses.

I'm seeing a lot of people question the thralls? Thralls add 0.625 DPS which is a huge amount. If we subtract around 10 minutes of between room/puzzle time from raid and just general time thralls can't attack, you're looking at an added total damage of 1500 to the raid approximately. Those little 2s and 3s add up! Blood barrage really doesn't do anything for you in any room that matters.
the thralls make the raid much more difficult for a lot of people. I'm starting to use them myself after spending half an hour in the dps calc but its definitely a learning curve as it removes some safety. blood barrage is pretty useful for correcting mistakes you don't seem to make :P Fully prepared to admit its a skill issue on my side for appreciating bloods lmao

@@XxSupaBAMxX decent and practically entirely mistake free aren't quite the same though in my opinion. Some players are only aiming to hit these as a one off.
I think because of skill gap a lot of players question thralls since they don’t understand where they are making mistakes or “leaning” on freezing and blood barraging but I digress. Thralls are nice but so are 🩸 barrages
@@sickbailey21 with keris you can still tank 2-3 kephri bombs easily and still make the room without blood barrage. you can use barrage for sure but slower rooms also mean more room for mistakes and more supply drain. If you are over 50 expert kc you probably already dont need it anymore.

Its genuinely good content to absorb while trying to learn, the comment was more about just being impressed that he had the mental bandwidth to not only read twitch chat but also completely hands off from OSRS long enough to type and then hands on fast enough to continue doing what he needed to not die or otherwise mess up.

Nice! I can only just do normals currently (only been doing them a week) but I've learned so many things that could help me save supplies and speed up the raid to get more done, currently only have 120m in gear so hopefully this will help me get some purples :D thanks dude

This is completly insane
Great video though I disagree with some of your choices. Your loadout is very 'aggressive' and gets the job done quickly (you beat my first 500 time by 8 minutes) but has a lot of switches that probably reduce consistency and time to first clear given that somebody is not very good/experienced at TOA yet. It's kind of like recommending Bofa+Scy+Chins for somebody's first inferno clear.
I would recommend dropping Chins, Blowpipe, DDS, Tassets, and both glove switches for Rapier/Tent and more restores so you don't have to flick or worry about prayer at all, and dropping the BGS for an SGS. Realistically glove switches, chins, and blowpipe make zero difference on your ability to survive rooms and compared to additional restores are actively detrimental as they cost more prayer/keris HP than they save in increased DPS. It's perfectly fine to do a marginally slower Ba-ba/Kephri and a significantly slower Ba-ba room, you have more than enough extra supplies to offset. This also means Red-X Ba-ba is not required.
SGS over BGS is a massive benefit allowing you to heal quite a bit with Lightbearer (And death charge if you have a toxic trident to empty instead of a sang). You get guaranteed max SGS on Kephri balls, Zebak Jugs, and Core, P2 is especially benefitted by milking SGS specs. Using SGS over DDS on core means you use far less prayer overall during P2 even though it is slower, you effectively use zero supplies.
These are obviously time losses but it's not a money raid it's a fang kit. You flicked a ton in this run which is cool and all but IMO not realistic or necessary for somebody who needs help with getting their first 500 clear. Further none of my substitutions decrease DPS on P4 which is the hardest part by far.
I disagree with the guys saying no thralls they are super duper important for P4 Bofa 500. However you don't need to thrall or pray at all until Zebak spawns in P3 as it's 0 damage and a waste of prayer.
I have a video of this super pack yak completion, it's quite embarrassing but got me the kit. It's kind of like someone doing their first cape in Justiciar, room to improve later but for now just get it done.
Great suggestions but the point you made about someone “not very good/experienced at toa yet” doesn’t make sense to me. If someone isn’t experience at toa, they’re hopefully not trying 500s at all lol

I have a question I was just thinking about: Is it beneficial to activate the time-limit invocations regardless of being fast enough? My thinking is that the invocations will increase raid level within the time limit, so while the countdown is still occurring would the hp of the bosses not be higher? Because points (I believe) are based solely off of damage dealt, even if you dont meet the qualifier in the end, you would have still dealt more damage during the raid than if you did not have it turned on.
Then for the purpose of receiving better loot, you should always turn on at least one of the time invocations regardless of meeting the time or not. I would think walk for it may be best because the highest point multipliers come at wardens, but that is outside of my curiosity at the moment. What does everyone think of my thought process? Is there something that is missing about the raid level being lowered by not reaching the time goal that impacts loot?
No raid multiplier is more valuable
I've run the numbers below using the OSRS Toa calculator and the unique formula:
400 Raid - Estimated 21761 points giving you a 8.70% chance of a unique.
410 Raid - Estimated 22019 points, this would give you a 9.02% chance of a unique, but we use 390 to calculate our unique (as failing walk for it decreases invo by 20 when calculating a unique). This means 2900 points per unique, so we do 22019/2900 = 7.59.%
So in short 400 - 8.7%
410 with failed walk for it - 7.59%
And the raid is harder and takes longer, so in short - not worth it in anyway.

well considering i suck at ahhka and use 3 restores, ill come back to this vid in about 5 years when im 10x better. I also cant do double trouble, because every time i click 2 tiles ahead, and then onto the spot i need to get to, i end up still steping on a black orb, so i guess i just cant count spacing correctly.
Jus dont stand on the tile behind u when u start moving and dont go in front after. Double trouble easy, usually u dont move 2 tiles. You move 2, then 1, 2 , then 1 most of the time but its easy once u get the hang of it, jus need to understand where the orbs will spawn when u move.

Only throw chins to the first set of scarabs that heal the boss, the second round of them wont reach kephri so not needed to throw them a chin

I can do skulls now. But they upset me since you need to click a tick in advance so what you just click isnt even the action your character takes on the next tick. Does anyone have some words thatll put this together for me?
If you mean warden p3 skulls, you just click on the next one as soon as your character hits the previous. If you use true tile, it's as soon as your current tile is directly next to the skull, or if you're using sounds, then as soon as you hear your attack you click.
But about your comment, it's kinda wrong if I understand it correctly. Whenever you click, assuming you don't replace/interrupt that action by clicking somewhere else before the tick happens, the action will happen. Of course, the window gets kinda weird with high/unstable ping, and you might lose a tick that way.

Somewhere around 450 seems pretty realistic, 500s for money is totally doable with max gear

It was probably one of the first ten plugins I ever downloaded, so the name may be off by some, but it’s something like prayer orb tick indicator.

He’s clicking at baba when he starts retreating. The character retreats automatically after you click baba. Then he clicks the pillar in phase 1 to move forward then clicks to the left of baba in later phases.

Don't. Log out and quit the game, rng untradeable drop that's basically required for the end game content that can't be scaled with difficulty is fucking stupid - 150kc with no gems.
there is a bad luck mitigation for the jewels and the thread that works linearly and at max gets you 3x higher drop rate. You reach max droprate at 1.5x the normal drop rate. Since the drop rate of these uniques do not scale with the difficulty of the raid, the fastest way to obtain these would be to spam 0 invo runs and get kc quickly

It's budget for the content... its 500 invo, literally the pinnacle of ToA - the only way to go past that would be to turn on invocations that actually break you

1:15 what? Im trying this run for 4 days now and if i had shadow id of beat it multiple times now. Not cuz akkha. Not at all. Cuz warden p4. Shadow wont even let you get to the last row of tiles.. shadow makes warden easier, sure akkha too, but akkha is not the problem
PSA: Don't bring thralls if you're only going for the fang kit; they're mainly useful for efficient money raids once you're already comfortable with the invo level. Ancients let you leave out the book and chins for more restore, and you can heal up on baboons/kephri swarms if needed. Similarly, camping b gloves and leaving out the blowpipe are excellent ways to save inv space for more supplies. I respect Gnomonkey a lot, but he didn't seem to consider the target audience of the video. Most of us haven't mastered TOA, so a setup that leaves very little room for error probably isn't the way to go.
Thralls are insanely important for P4 with Bofa IMO
Thralls add an entire boss worth of damage throughout the entire raid and a faster raid means less chance of making mistakes. Any part that you struggle with besides Ba-Ba puzzle is made slightly easier with thralls. Absolutely bring thralls.

@@saxerpillar5128 Thralls add, at best, an extra 10% dps in the situations you use them in, which definitely is big but not something that fundamentally alters the fight, apart from maybe p4. They also increase your ratio of prayer spent per damage dealt, and limit the amount of supplies you can bring. Prayer is the key limiting factor for those of us who can't flick like gnomonkey, so having that extra wiggle room in terms of supplies is huge.

The messed up thing is I did a 150 toad on mobile. I can pray flick and survived the whole raid, but my internet is 20mbs and so Idc about the fire cape anymore, I'm satisfied with my myth cape hahah

if sanfew is the difference between you making it or not, the price isn't relevant. If you're trying to scrimp saving 50-100k between raids, you shouldn't be trying to achieve this milestone yet.
After trying to learn 500’s with a shadow, i can safely say you should learn that with 400’s and softcore lol. Much more chill.

I disagree with the thralls take. If you're going for your first fang kit, especially with this bad of gear, having blood barrage is INFINITELY more valuable. It's 1 extra restore, infinite healing for kephri and baba puzzle, and no prayer drain for the thralls.
Plus, having barrage for the stacked melees on kephri saves you as much time as death charge otherwise would, and can save you from having to keris (causing a 0 supply room to cost prayer potentially if mistakes are made).
Biggest benefit is dps at akkha, but realistically you wont pass the dps checks anyway, so having that extra 4-6 doses because you're on ancients is more beneficial imo.
I think gnomonkey forgets that most players aren't at his skill level, so having cushion for mistakes is better than min max dps

Blood barrage is a crutch - it helps a lot when you're a newbie in baba puzzle room, sure, however if you're doing 500's, you should already know the room well enough to not have HP issues there, even with mistakes. Ancients don't speed up the baba puzzle, it just makes it less punishing when major repeated mistakes are made.
On kephri, healing is pretty much useless unless lag or brain going into extreme autopilot and tanking firebombs, but even then blood fury exists. Having blood barrage for kephri melee minions when they're stacked good, don't get me wrong, but I doubt this outweighs the DPS thrall does during the fight.
Thralls are also useful in akkha, zebak, wardens - basically where ancients see minimal to no value.
Basically, my point is that thralls are better across the entire raid, while ancients are only good in 1-2 rooms. Additionally, instead of being a tool that speeds up your raid, all ancients do is compensate for mistakes (except in the stacked kephri melee minion instance), which can easily cause people to over-rely on them instead of trying to become more consistent/learning rooms properly.
If the enemy dies faster you're less likely to make a mistake and die yourself. Min maxing DPS is the best strategy.
@Zealot I agree in most cases, however when you're talking about someone's first 500 raid that's not as much of a priority. It's all about a completion, not about time.

"teaching stream" = stay close to warden p3 so that you have less time to react when skulls drop down and then they explode and kill you. Because you gotta save 2 ticks of dps. and pray flick rigour which would most likely get you killed because it would distract you.
