IRONMAN Inferno Teaching Stream (OSRS)

- Here is another inferno teaching stream, this time with a bit more ironman friendly setup. A 15% damaging magic weapon is best, kodai, nightmare staff or staff of the dead all are equally effective. If you can't get these, the next best option is any of the ancient sceptres although it's far worse. Devouts work, pegasians work, snakeskin boots work. Lightbearer, Ring of the Gods and Suffering are all fairly similar, although I find lightbearer to typically be the best option (and cheapest). Ahrim's works fine, virtus or ancestral pieces are upgrades. Keep in mind I used dragon darts while noodling horribly on the healers, so use the best supplies you can! Make sure you have plenty of runes and potions, and don't worry about using everything you have (you spent them and intend on using them as you jumped in). If you got your cape make sure you let me know at the stream or below!

Been loving the inferno guides, haven't attempted yet but your guides are giving me a bit more confidence. Thank you mr gnome guy
Nice attempt man, you got so far!
Just a few more attempts and you'll get your cape for sure.
Blood ancient sceptre work in place of SOTD?
I do not recommend using the scepters.
Always a fan of the inferno learner streams. Any chance you’ll be able to link the plugins/settings for the overhead hp on pillars and mobs?

Perfect timing for this! Working on getting Rigour unlocked and then going to start learning Inferno on the UIM. Should be able to go in with this exact setup so this is great.
1:47 i like how you always put best games themes in the backround, this slowed final fantasy theme is so good ❤
My editor has good taste. I've actually never played a Final Fantasy game LOL
Ohh😅,thank you so much for the inferno guides, really helped alot, i finally got my first cape 3 weeks ago
Could you hook me up with zuk's shield highlighter code? I have been to zuk 8 times and usually plank at healers because I suck at staying behind the shield while trying to dps healers.
Really appreciate you taking the time to do this video/guide, going to be refering back to it a lot.
So i made it to zuk and even got all the way to healers where i took a zuk hit and then died to healers..
Afterwards finding out that zuk attacks a lot faster when healers come out and you have to stick to shield the entire time.
So that would've been nice to mention gnomonkey :( Would've gotten my cape on my first zuk attempt if i knew that
48:00 definitely not chanced at every corner on this entire guide lol. Absolutely no beginner or first timer would have been able to pull off any of those flicks ?
Big fan, been watching some of your Nex and inferno videos, had a quick gear question for you, wondering if i should swap out SOTD for blood ancient sceptre? I am an iron and did spoon dt2 so i have virtus and am wondering in my scenario which to go with. Also an really enjoying the video so far and am eager to ditch ring of suffering and sgs and go for it, the blood barrage (shadow) seems really neat
Nope. Toxic Staff of the Dead is much better. I explain in the guide why
Perfect, I'll stick with it SOTD, thank you for the reply
Just watched this twice. About to send my first attempt. Wish me luck
I dont see the positive side of bringing more mage switches then occult/Staff for barrages unless you are good at inferno anyway. For the extra 2 inv spaces (mage top/bottom) i take 2 more restores which help to just use rigour more often and get faster true waves with less flicking (less flicking= less mistakes also, for example failing a mager flick = 70hp down sometimes).
The mage switches are also used for healing on high defense targets. It's fine not to bring them, but healing will taken longer.
makes the first 40 waves of the inferno go by way faster so you don't hate yourself while learning.
But yes you are indeed right if time is not an issue, but ideally you don't want to spend 5 hours per run just to die at zuk like gnomonkey did XD.
you didn't relog before entering, rip those 6 hour cheese loggers lmao
Inspired me to just send it after being fairly scared of it taking a long time to learn...surprisingly ended up going to waves like 56, 54, 60 on first 3 attempts, then got to triples and double clicked a prayer....Then in my next like 6 attempts I made it to Zuk 4 times. "Kill the boss" mentality certainly helped - but I also found a lot of the time my BP (w dragon darts) was noodling on healers. My successful attempt I noodled pre-jad and pushing to healers so waited for the 2nd set which thankfully got pumped, then I ended up swapping to bowfa for healers after the first tagging pass started moving and that made them easy. 3 restores and 2 brews left! So happy to finally have this thing. Wish I didn't put it off! Thanks - Between you and Aty videos I learned everything I needed.
Congrats!!! Just click the boss :)
Hey handsgnome, small error at 48:50 switching back to wave 62 from 63. Cool guide, love the content etc etc.
Thanks babe. We were having issues and just didn't catch this one. Least its smol
ur dimple is so coot :3
gnomonkey forgot justicar
forgot dinh's bulwark aswell. those south pillar rotations would've gone hard
What are some of the plugins you're using this video? How do you display HP above mobs in green, and red when they're dead before the damage shows up + HP on pillars?
I have a plugin video for PVM :)
@@GnomonkeyRS tyvm! Will check that out
Is it just me, or am i tripping. You look like some one from that doctor movie, where there is this genius chess kid. U look so fucking alike. jesus christ. Dont remember the name of the show, but its some one who is very smart and use a stock to walk
Hay gnomonkey, word of advice, iron to iron, i'd recommend doing 1200 hours of solo corp to get an ely, think that could have been the difference maker for getting your first cape
Just....used Crystal shield
Do you need blowpipe, will bowfa be enough?
Technically no, but you definitely should get one.
oof. i was watching that hp at the end so concerned and uh i guess it was justified. small mistake but if u have 0 hp to tank it ur kinda screwed. great otherwise ;p
on my first kc, i fucked up and zuk hit me for an 8. haha got the kc though! (2020)
Not gonna lie you might be the new fav for osrs content! Great guides and helper vids.
Wait Daddy.... I missed the first 10 minutes. Start over! 😂
Was the music from the stream? Kinda distracting 😅😅
update: Don't lose a tick auto cast anymore so tsod is done
sotd is still good if u cant afford nightmare staff/kodai
i'm using kodai, virtus top and occult, frequently not 1 shotting nibblers and getting dragged out. Should I just freeze one then deal with wave go back to nibblers after? Or should i just bring virtus bottoms or something would that 'guarantee' a one shot?
You should give Nibblers 1 cast, and solve the wave. Sometimes two, if the wave is solved on its own. You don't need to one shot them persay, you just need to get the freeze off to buy time to solve the wave.
You're about a week late for me:P Thanks to your vids I got my inferno cape on both my ironman and main last week. Thanks so much brutha
36:18 there's also the elegant solution to not dealing with the stack. Stand on the Northmost tile of the East side of the pillar and run to the Westmost tile of the South side of the pillar. The Mager will not hit you and you can freely kill the ranger. Pray mage when leaving this location.
Ayyy he did it at 45:45
Would rigour be a blocker for a first caper? Thanks for the helpful content!
Yes Rigour is extremely important. There are people who do use just Eagle Eye has ironmen, but kinda sucks ass.
How dare you lose a tick 😢
God you grew on me 😂
what is the plugin that shows the green health number above the enemies head?
Tzhaar HP Tracker
What’s the plugin that shows monster and pillar health?
Tzhaar HP Tracker
can someone tell me the plugin for showing monsters health and pillar health the way he has it displayed?

@@GnomonkeyRS you're actually the man.
On god for real
that splash mechanic is insane wow very nice ty @ 53:05
yeah its insane but knowing my rng i'm hella gonna actually land the freeze and i'll get hit a fat 70 to the face by the mager lmfao. I'd rather do the safe option by tanking the range hit on the left, then quickly going to the right to start an offtick with the right ranger and mager.
Do i need max combats to try inferno ? really want to do it but not sure i can with base 85's
Yes.
theoretically possible to do with base 85s but the inferno is extremely tough and unforgiving and you want to absolutely maximize your chances of getting it as early as possible so you can get it over with.
Just Justin
Why not use blood ancient sceptre?
Because you lose 10% damage and the heal isn't worth it
how u can see those mobs hp number on their head
Tzhaar HP Tracker
I know this highly depends on nothing else being in the wave, but the pillar stack you have at 36:17 can be entirely avoided easily. Starting 1 tile north of where you are at that time stamp, you can click the tile that is 2 south and 3 west from where you are and you would have corner trapped the mage and could freely hit the ranger if you wanted. Not often it pops up but it is simple and free. Also would work with the stack you had at 18:50 conveniently enough lol.
Ok I now see you've done exactly this at45:51 lol sorry for the pre-emptive comment
you want to kill the mager first if you can so this wouldve been a misplay there
@@brycegriffin9271while I do agree, for learners simplifying things should be the priority. Even if the mage spawned the ranger again in this situation it would be fine because no stack would be created and the mage can be picked off on its own.
Hey great guide!! Question, SGS with Lightbearer or ROTD?
Madge, No SGS.
blowpipe lol
Hi Gnomonkey, I've been using your guides while I attempt the inferno. Was wondering if you could share how you have the pillar and NPC health showing above the opponent? I can't seem to get it working on the pillars using the Monster HP Percentage plugin
Also hit pb of 67 with your help and died to single jad LOL. What prayer level do you recommend? I'm at 86 right now but it feels like I'm cutting it pretty close on prayer.

thoughts on using ancient sceptre compared to sceptre with a jewel? if jewel is better which one would you use. Prayge quick response
No, jewel makes no difference. You want a 15% magic staff.
so you would just say dont go inferno until a 15% staff is available @@GnomonkeyRS
so you wouldnt set foot in the inferno first attempt without a 15% staff?@@GnomonkeyRS
Correct.
Thank you king beast @@GnomonkeyRS
Mr. Gnomonkey, on my ironman I have a blood sceptre. Can you do a run comparing all 4 sceptres? I think Shadow Sceptre might just be useful enough to bring.
:angry reaction face:
The only monster Shadow Sceptre would have a thought of being useful on in the Inferno is Zuk, which you have a 14.35% chance of landing a Shadow Barrage on in a 4 way mage switch, 16.5% if you take off Pegs+Crystal Helm. 7 casts of Shadow Barrage (100%) puts you down 35 ticks, call it 36 so 9 Bowfa hits. It'd reduce Zuk's Def by 16.5%, bringing him down to 217. Assuming you let healers heal 150 HP, Bowfa+Rigour takes an average of 238 seconds to kill him without drain, or 215 seconds with the Shadow drain. 36 ticks on average to land a Shadow Barrage is 21.6 seconds, and you kill Zuk 23 seconds faster with the Shadow drain, assuming it stays drained the whole time. You're going to save an average of 2 ticks per fight at the significant tradeoff of not being able to heal back to 108 in between each wave with blood sceptre, while also putting yourself at a disadvantage with the timing of the Sets since you're frontloading 21 seconds of dealing basically no damage, let alone if you go unlucky and take 14+ casts to land a Shadow Barrage. The only time this could be semi-useful is if trying to do a Jad skip and you gamble on landing the Shadow quickly.
@@urm9m703 so you're saying there's a chance. Where are the other 3 sceptres
@@randomunlistedvids Smoke is dead content in the inferno, you want to kill the nibblers not poison them and heal off NPCs not poison them, Ice is dead content because accuracy is already so high, Blood is BIS unless Eldritch/experienced.
Can you provide all the math? I don't like reading letters. @@urm9m703
please do no occult no sotd like a low level/slayer ironman (maybe ancient sceptre)
Shouldn't be doing Inferno at that point...
@@GnomonkeyRS this shows you are very out of touch with Ironman, post-Bowfa Irons are typically 105-110cb very pre-occult (and blood sceptre). Getting an Infernal at that level is a nice upgrade.
@@urm9m703 I doubt anyone in this position has zero infernal capes already. The people that video would apply to are people who have done inferno and should just know how to solve waves and not need a video. Also once you have bowfa you could just camp k'ril for sotd. This shows you are very out of touch with Ironman.
@@TheVexar ur delusional bro, yeah you "could" camp kril for a 20hr SOTD that isn't nearly as good an upgrade over sceptre as is believed (you often lose ticks as a learner w/no autocast and sometimes you want to barrage down a ranger and it is tedious to do so manually, especially if you need to 1t alternate and barrage down the ranger) or you could just send Inferno attempts. I learned inferno on my 108cb iron last year with ancient sceptre/fury. Lick feet some more
@@urm9m703 you need to get hasta for ToA anyway and zammy hilt lookin pretty good for muttas now with CoX changes. So it's either 15 hours extra or no extra time spent. Plus it's BiS for ToB down the line. Learners will also go through tons of cash on blood runes and early iron won't have tons to spare if they spend their cg cash on construction and other important gp sinks in the mid game.
You also wouldn't even have 90 hp, 94+ magic, and you'd only have around 70 prayer, which means you already have to take a detour for at least magic. I'd like to see proof of at least one person who's done this that hasn't done inferno before.
that wave 63 is exactly why first capers shouldnt casually let south pillar die. if you have to tank a couple blob hits to safe your south pillar, do it, because these late waves can be overwhelming, and running south and chugging brew simplifies it.
lol id be curious to see a "run south" teaching stream
South pillar solves are bandaids for lack of learning the proper solves and methods to deal with waves. I don't like teaching South pillar tech
People sleep on running south. I’m 9kc and I’ll still do it to simplify
@@RapSnackOSRS yeah im at 4 kc, would still not have a cape without running south.
@@GnomonkeyRS makes sense
Letting south pillar die improves pathing of mobs that spawn in the 2 southwest spots, a ranger spawn down there will shoot you if pillar is alive, and will be safespotted if pillar is dead.
What is the purpose of waiting to spawn the healers? The shield to start moving back the other direction?
If you don't wait for healers while the shield is moving away, you waste ticks standing on that side and he heals 2-400HP extra
You are overcomplicating jad for people that just want to get their first cape. Idk if it is to show off as usual or if you actually think this is the easiest way. Its not the easiest way for people who are learning.
i disagree. I was able to minimize so much damage from healers while doing what he did when I had time between attacks to move and safespot them. Triple jads are way easier than people make them out to be, they're the same pace as level 2 zebak enrage.
Blood Ancient Sceptre>SOTD for learners, the 10% dmg doesn't offset the power of 108 hp. Lightbearer is just silly for learners, no Ironman learner has Eldritch lol so any prayer ring (suffering/ROTG) is just going to be better. Feels very out of touch, maybe you should've made an Ironman instead of the comical betrayal that was the "rs"3 stint.
Brews get you 115, And not one shotting Nibblers causes learners to chase them, and end up dying. 108HP isn't going to drill out that bad habit. Better to just one shot Nibblers and solve the wave accordingly. Rs3 died because they took away the one mechanic I wanted to do in Rs3, which was streaking. I'm not even using Eldritch in this guide, it's just an option for those who do have it. LB also gives you tons of healing and DPS specs to nuke down any problems that occur. 108HP isn't going to kill a Melee or Bat in your face.
@@GnomonkeyRS I disagree, a learner wasting even just one brew pre-potting to 115 for 4 waves is going to get them killed to a single mistake in the later waves/during Zuk healers due to supply loss when they could simply just be at 108 hp for every single wave and have more Brew to sip when they are making the "turn on rigour and pray" solve. Not chasing nibblers is probably the easiest thing to learn in the inferno, taking less damage (so less brews are needed) is a lot harder.
@@urm9m703🤡
@@GnomonkeyRS theres maybe 5 ironmen in the entire game who actually have eldritch lol
I did my first cape a couple months ago and I used blood sceptre and I can confirm that that extra 10hp was amazing and just overall super comforting to be able to start every wave above 99 hp. Nibblers have no mage defense as it is, and iirc all the new sceptres have a passive bonus to ancient spells on top of the blood effect
u say ironman friendly yet ur using end game prayers like rigour? curious..
Can certainly be done without rigour, but I know very few ironman that would do inferno before getting rigour anyways
What iron would even try inferno without bis prayers? Lol
