    Love this! Can you please explain how would one have to go and export this as an alembic file? Would we need to export two alembic files to texture this in Cinema and have two shaders?

    • @denethvihara2259
      @denethvihara2259 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You just need to add a ROP alembic node to the final file cache node and in there, just change the frame range to "render frame range " and the file output location ( the settings in here are quite obvious, so there will be no problem following these steps 😉 ). After that, hit "save to disk" . After the export, you can import the alembic file into C4D and there, you will see a bunch of vertex maps, You can use them to create and separate materials ( That's why we used the node "attribute transfer"). Hope this helps you

      You will need a sop solver for that.A little bit complex but nothing insane.

    • @TheLizardKing752
      @TheLizardKing752 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@affectreflect my idea was to duplicate the particle system entirely, except in the new one have particles in the sphere deleted instead of turned to liquid. Then in the original sim, use that "subtracted" surface as an object to collide with similar to the ground plane. Doesnt seem to be working right now. I also moved the spheres to their own DOP network so everything is using the same set of spheres. Would probably be easier to do a ploygon boolean differece instead of the separate 2nd particle mesh.

    • @TheLizardKing752
      @TheLizardKing752 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I almost have it working, but now ALL the particle collide and move away from the unmelted mesh, not just the active ones.

    I've done this tut 3 times using the apprentice version of Houdini 18.5. I keep getting to the last step, spending 3 hours simulating 2.5 million particles/mesh data only to end up with what looks like a single frame of cached data? If I close the program and reopen my sim is no longer in the viewport despite having all the sim files in the correct location. Learning new software is time-consuming and frustrating.

      While this may already have been figured out, I ran into this issue today and managed to fix it for myself. All I had to do was hit D (while hovering over viewport) and on the particles section of the geometry tab, make sure that display sprites was ticked off.
