  • We are 1500 miles in on the 5.3 LM4 swapped Land Rover Discovery. So far it has been a pretty good swap, nothing major needed. We did however change up the Land Rover Temp Sensor and the intake, all for the better.

    The kit utilizes many of the factory Land Rover accessories and we assemble all of that onto the GM V8.

    It seems like a fairly complete kit compared to most I have seen for various other makes.

    As a LR fan in Japan, really enjoy the channel. 2 Disco 1s in my garage! Thanks for sharing!

      I appreciate that, those Disco’s have to be kind of a rare bird there.

      @@LostCauseRanch Yes and getting parts is normally only done by shipping from the US or UK. I would love to add a Defender to my drive way as well, but the mark up on them is even more insane.

    Minor fix up typical of quality engine change over.
    I run an Aussie made temp alarm called ‘engine guard’ that attaches externally on the engine.and gives a true indication of temp particularly if it dumps its coolant. It saved me once and is such cheap insurance. The LR D1 & D2 gauges are indicates rather than accurate. .

      Just looked at the engine guard, that’s kind of a cool little setup.

    Seems like ACE stop making kits. Any other recommendation. You guys should make another swap on a Disco2

      It kind of seems that way. I wish I had the time to go into development on it. It may be a possibility someday.

    Great video series! I am just finishing up an LC9 swap in my 2008 Defender 110 (in the Caribbean) and have had to figure a lot of it out myself. I would have loved a video series like this to use as a guide! I am now looking at buying a Discovery 2 in the U.S. to keep there and already looking to LS swap it before I even buy it. I will definitely be going back over these videos as I go through the process!

    So I live in Iowa and you can absolutely bet I will be hiring y'all to do this same job for me.
    I had an 03 Disco when I was 18, it was my dream SUV then too but it was a little....rough....One of my coworkers at the time suggested LS swapping it but I definitely didn't have the money and there was more problems than just the engine. Engine blew and such and I've still wanted one ever since. I don't care about the cost, when I get the money, I'm hitting y'all up.

    How is the LR auto trans holding up to that 5.3??

    • @LostCauseRanch
      @LostCauseRanch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No issues yet, but you have to stay reasonable with it power wise as you can take out the LR auto with factory power.

    Just finished the series. Was wondering why an electric fan wasn't utilized. Seems as though it would have obviated the intake clearance/interference issues.

    What’s the size of the tirer ? And do you need trimming and a spacer?

    • @LostCauseRanch
      @LostCauseRanch  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      315/75R16 Close to a 35. (34.5”).
      On the stock D2 16” wheels it needs a spacer to clear the radius arms while turning. Then the front bumper and the plastic rocker covers on the side need a little trimming.

    • @jershelb
      @jershelb ปีที่แล้ว

      I just did the same ACE kit to fit a 6.0 LS into my 2003. The LS7 would work the same, except you would have to do some extra things with it being a car intake manifold. You could just cross that bridge when you get there, or swap the LS7 intake to a truck intake.
