    Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

    The love, admiration, and respect Robert, Jimmy, and JPJ had at the end for Jason during the final drum solo proves just how much they ALL still miss John Bonham, and if anyone could fill Bonzo’s shoes it would be his son. I think the affection the 3 of them have for Jason shows just how much it was 100% the right decision back in 1980 for Led Zeppelin to end when Bonzo died.

    This to me ranks as one of Robert's best live performances of this song. I noticed people talking about him singing in a lower key or singing lower notes in the melody, etc. What people often fail to appreciate about vocals in live music, is there is a BIG difference between belting it out in the studio, giving your best performance, full out for a few takes, or several, waiting for the band, studio (i.e. as many breaks in between as you need), calling it a day, coming back fresh the next day or another, etc. and having to perform a full set or 2 or 3 of your best material where you need to see past the current song you are singing and know that you have an hour or 2 or more of other challenging songs to get through. A pro like Robert is going to put his vocal health and the overall concert before any egotistical need to try and hit every note the way it is recorded. It's more rewarding for an artist and better for your vocal health to sometimes find more natural expressions and interpretations of the melodies. Yeah, he may be able to belt out the "studio version" notes with strain on his vocal chords but when rock singers do that for hours, night after night they usually land themselves in a world of hurt and will likely do permanent damage to their voice.

      To be fair, the O2 shows had a lot of post-processing applied to them - right across the board. 2 Valises Rouges I understand that, I’m just saying he sounds better belting it a full step down rather than struggling to hit the original high note. He sounds cleaner in this version because you can tell it’s a lot easier on him to belt this note. I personally like the regular tuning version better with him just singing it lower like the ‘73 version, but this version showcases Robert’s vocal ability at his age. It’s fantastic!

      @gabriels.carvalho4852 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Tiberius_Productions Yeah, I won't get into that, since you already mentioned it. And I still feel that the notes are mostly the same, with just the octaves lower in this case. And hey, this is fine by me, I like how this sounds. He doesn't need to pitch up his voice higher, and he honestly could not at this point.

    The all time greatest band EVER. And i am a guy lucky enough to have been there for it all. Like 1971 which they say is the greatest year for R&R ever. I'm 68, and say first hand as music changed music forever starting in the late '60s when Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, who all 3 came from the same band "The Yardbirds". And as the band broke up, Jimmy was offered that band, but he said, Na, I think I"m going to start my own band, and Led Zeppelin was formed. From '68 until 1980 they rocked the world. Had their own private jet to take them from concert to concert, everywhere in the world. Just think of all the music we missed from them. Because when John Bonham Died in his sleep, the band decided to disband. They felt is was the right thing to do, plus they felt no other drummer could take his place. What a great tribute. I can't think of a band that would do that. They would have been searching for a new drummer almost on the same day. But not Led Zeppelin. I am proud of them for this. But at the same time, I've always wondered what other music these guys would have created. But I guess they did enough. Because i started listening to them in '68, and at 68 myself, I"m still listening to them today. And still get emotional about this band. My greatest of all time Band. I love seeing young people today listening and doing what they call "Reaction video's of songs their fans ask for them to react to. Its fun to see the reaction of them listening to the band I've been a life long fan of. I enjoy so much seeing the youth of the world getting turned on to the music i grew up and and still love today. Keep it up. R. J.

    One of the things that really touched me in this concert (among many!) was the way Jimmy would - in an almost fatherly way - stroll over towards Jason and give him a look or a nod to make sure Jason remembered a musical transition was about to happen. Of course, the original Zeppelin had so much ESP when they played together they didn't need to do this all the time....but with Jason, it was like Jimmy holding Jason's hand to help him cross the street. Very touching.

    • @joeyhuebner10
      @joeyhuebner10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zeppelin were always a band of nods. Eventually they got to a point where musical passages were memorized in whole and could be switched at ease; Zeppelin had chemistry but they also had the skill to listen and adapt. I'd hardly call that ESP.
