    Missed the part where it took forever to get the last spark plug out. That ones always a treat.

      I could get it out real easy.. can’t spray it.

      @@andyventers3800 use a straw… place small flexible hose on the fogging can into the straw and bend the straw into the hole. I did this today and it worked!

    This is a great instructional video, thank you. It would be helpful to include fuel filter replacement process and lube of prop shaft.

      +V S Thank you very much for your feedback. We will definitely consider your suggestion regarding the fuel filter replacement.

    Thanks for the video. My new Merc 150 only has about 10 hrs of drive time. Do you think I need to change the oil and gear lube for the prop ? Did you have the muffs on when you cycled the starter to distribute the fogging lube ?

    Perhaps finger swab some dielectric lube at opening of each spark plug casing. Just a thought.

    After I spray into the cylinders I was able to turn it once only. When I try to turn it a 2nd time it would just spin? Should I be worried?

    Is fogging really even necessary?
    I run my boat up to late Oct and fire it back up after the ice leaves ( usually March or April).
    I've never fogged it and it seems to do just fine.

      Owners manual specifically says not to fog thru the intake. It can harm the injectors. You can however spray oil into the cylinders by taking out the spark plug, and cranking the engine over after oil was applied.

    Winterization & Storage - Mercury Marine 150 Hp 4 Stroke Outboard
    Have you winterized your outboard for long-term storage this season? Here's our latest video in the winterization and long-term storage category. We've done numerous videos addressing inboard models but wanted to take the time to shoot a few videos addressing outboard motors. This video address the steps necessary to prepare your Mercury Marine 150 Hp outboard motor for storage over the winter.

    You only need to fog 3 of the cylinders?

    I can't seem to get the 4th sparkplug off - any ideas? It's like my socket isn't gettting all the way onto the plug

      Any luck? The 4th plug is a pita, and I don't know if I should split the lower housing

      I used the smallest ratchet to get mine off. came out easy with a small ratchet. needs to fit in there.

      It's taken a few years, but I've found the right combo of socket elbow and extension to get the 4th plug out. I've also taped a straw to the fogging oil spray extender to try and get oil in there. Not sure how much is actually making it into the cylinder.

    Great info...
    What about blowing out the water in the water pump? I live in Colorado and things freeze out here.

    • @PerfprotechMarineProducts
      @PerfprotechMarineProducts  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +Roy Leach There is no procedure printed in the service manual for “blowing out the water”. Below is the water draining procedure that is printed in the service manual for this outboard.
      Positioning Outboard for Storage:
      Store outboard in a full down position to allow water to drain out of the outboard. Notice: Storing the outboard in a tilted position can damage the outboard. Water trapped in the cooling passages or rain water collected in the propeller exhaust outlet in the gearcase can freeze. Store the outboard in the full down position.

  • @814chappy

    What about running antifreeze through the motor ?

    • @edwardabrahamiii3742
      @edwardabrahamiii3742 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It uses water from the low water pick ups in the lower unit and cycles fresh water in and out the engine at all times thats why when it doesnt pee you shouldnt be running the engine

    • @camom494
      @camom494 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unnecessary on an outboard. They are self dealing as long as you store them in a vertical position.

    You should have cleaned/greased the propeller shaft before installing the prop.?! This is recommended for my 60 HP Mercury 4Stroke.

    I noticed how no one show how they get the bottom plug.. real easy to do the top 3 then video skips to starting it....Show how you spray the 4th plug.
