I tried making the dough and I’m actually very experience with this type of laminated dough and the wet ingredients were too much for 1 1/2 cup of flour I added less liquid and it was still too wet didn’t work
Lovely and easy, haven't made a croissant dough in years, this will be my go to .... I have guests coming next week and will be making this recipe for us to enjoy....Thankyou Gemma!! USA - Idaho
Great Job Gemma, these turned out Beautiful 👏. Can’t wait to try my hand at making them. Thanks, sweet Irish ☘️ girl. Blessings to you and your beautiful Family 💞
In the description box it mentions to add 1 egg and the video says 2 eggs which one is accurate? Also if I want to double the recipe is it still 15 by 8 dimension for rolling the dough?
Cheese Danish!! I haven' had that since I left New York. I love Cheese Danish!! Definitely going to print out this recipe! All hat rollling and folding reminds me of the one time in my life I made croissants! They came out fantastic and were gone in a flash; they were so good.
They are orgasmic! Can you freeze the dough? I would love to see a video on a batch bulk pastry. One where you turn it into various items like you do with your cookies ❤❤❤
Yes, the dough can be prepared in advance and even frozen, making it easy to bake fresh danishes for breakfast, brunch, or anytime. Check the recipe here, www.biggerbolderbaking.com/cheese-danish/
@@biggerbolderbaking thanks so much. We're a huge fan of your recipes. The neighbours gather when I bake your cinnamon buns and my family get disappointed looks when I arrive without them 🤣 😂 🤣
Question: Would it be ok to shred frozen butter into the flour? I've done that before, put like a cup of flour in the "shredding container" (lol, does it have a name🤭). But I never made croissants myself, so maybe the process is different. Works great for biscuits (but of course you have warm hands, so not sure if that method totally works here). Looks delish🤤
Why were there only 8 danishes in the end on the plate? Huh, Gemma? Did the Baker get to taste one before the viewers? Seriously, I think they could have had more cream cheese filling on them. I noticed you had some left in the pipping bag. They look great!
The cooling rack could only fit in 8 😊 Not to worry, none were wasted. We had a nice snack after the shoot. As to the cream cheese filling, you can add more, or to preference. Hope this helped.
That's the great thing about making these at home when someone like Gemma graciously gives you the recipe - you know it will be delicious so all you have to worry about is how much filling you want to add :) Thanks so much for all the time you put in, Gemma!
How many eggs specifically do I need to put in the dough? Your video says 2 but your website says 1? About the filling, is 1 cup or 4 oz. Of cream cheese and is it 1/4 cup of confectioner’s sugar or 2 tbsp.? This recipe is really confusing.
You can freeze the pastry dough and just take it out when you want some. Let it sit at room temperature until soft enough to roll. Do not over handle the dough, to keep the butter in it from melting into the flour (to avoid a greasy pastry as a result). Cut and shape, and proceed as per recipe www.biggerbolderbaking.com/cheese-danish/
Hi Gemma, despite the process, is the result the same than croissant dough or it is different ? Is there more products you can do with this dough ? (I mean with a different shaping)
The cream cheese filling is similar to that of a baked cheesecake. It also contains eggs. Hence, it's best baked to achieve that kind of flavor and texture. Very much like what you would add in a cream cheese brownies. Hope this helps.
Yes, you can use a fruit filling. You can also opt to use a layer of frangipane www.biggerbolderbaking.com/frangipane-recipe-homemade/ and top it with some fruits. Hope this helps.
Can't wait to hear how you get on with the recipe! For best results, follow the measurements and the procedure in the written recipe, www.biggerbolderbaking.com/cheese-danish/
You can freeze the dough and bake at a later time. For all information about it, check the recipe here, www.biggerbolderbaking.com/cheese-danish/ Don't forget to read the introduction and tips section.
What is recommended to make a gluten free variant of this besides gluten free flour? I have not had a cheese danish in around 20 years no thanks to celiac disease, but I love being a mad scientist in the kitchen in trying to recreate gluten free variants of recipes. 😊
I know completely off topic but we just got back from Ireland and I’m completely taken with their dairy cream! How disappointing I am with my options here in the USA! Don’t you miss that???????
Hi. You will need one large egg for the dough, and another egg that is separated into: the yolk for the filling, the egg white for eggwash. For best results, read and follow the written recipe, including the tips section. Hope this helps. Here you go, www.biggerbolderbaking.com/cheese-danish/
The egg adds richness, color, and flavor to the dough. Additionally, it helps bind the dough together and provides structure. Danish dough is similar to puff pastry, which you can also opt to use in this recipe.

Hi Bigger bolder baking chef Iam from India I search for this recepi it's sooo good yummy I remember my childhood
Welcome to Bigger Bolder Baking!

But I never made croissants myself, so maybe the process is different. Works great for biscuits (but of course you have warm hands, so not sure if that method totally works here). Looks delish🤤
Yes, that can work too. Use frozen solid butter so it doesn't melt into the flour. Hope this helps.
Why were there only 8 danishes in the end on the plate? Huh, Gemma? Did the Baker get to taste one before the viewers? Seriously, I think they could have had more cream cheese filling on them. I noticed you had some left in the pipping bag. They look great!
Lol, good thing I wasn't there🤣 There'd be nothing to show!
The cooling rack could only fit in 8 😊 Not to worry, none were wasted. We had a nice snack after the shoot. As to the cream cheese filling, you can add more, or to preference. Hope this helped.
Lol! They disappeared quite fast!

These really are. I hope you'll give it a go. Get the recipe here, www.biggerbolderbaking.com/cheese-danish/
Love this !!!❤Would this work to use as a pie crust dough ?
Looks good.
Can you freeze it if you don’t want to bake it all? If so how can I freeze it and how would I cook it after?
You can freeze the pastry dough and just take it out when you want some. Let it sit at room temperature until soft enough to roll. Do not over handle the dough, to keep the butter in it from melting into the flour (to avoid a greasy pastry as a result). Cut and shape, and proceed as per recipe www.biggerbolderbaking.com/cheese-danish/
Hi Gemma, despite the process, is the result the same than croissant dough or it is different ? Is there more products you can do with this dough ? (I mean with a different shaping)
It's similar but not really the same. But the result after baking is not a light and airy bread, instead you get light and flaky layers of pastry.
What kind of butter is used? Should u use an European butter because of the high fat and high performance or not necessary?
I’m going to make the cream cheese filling and use puff pastry, easier for a bit of single servings . 💡😋
Go for it!
Would it be easier if the cream cheese is put on after the proofing and egg wash?
Just curious to know why it is pipped on before proofing stage.
The cream cheese filling is similar to that of a baked cheesecake. It also contains eggs. Hence, it's best baked to achieve that kind of flavor and texture. Very much like what you would add in a cream cheese brownies. Hope this helps.
Could I use this dough with fruit filling? I'm thinking yes.
Yes, you can use a fruit filling. You can also opt to use a layer of frangipane www.biggerbolderbaking.com/frangipane-recipe-homemade/ and top it with some fruits. Hope this helps.
One of these days I’ll have the patience to make this

Why did you put eggs. This looks like ruff puff pastry
The egg adds richness, color, and flavor to the dough.
Additionally, it helps bind the dough together and provides structure.
Danish dough is similar to puff pastry, which you can also opt to use in this recipe.
😋😋😋 Are you married? 😁
