Thanks Dave, I really appreciate your videos. Currently editing about 700 photos from my trip to Greece and Topaz is helping me produce some great results.
Thanks for this tutorial Dave. I am so glad you mentioned the slowness of the Super Focus Beta. I thought I am doing something wrong as the 1st photo I used, I was told that it will take 72 minutes to render. Hopefully the developers make haste with this new feature
Thanks for the update. I too made some minor changes and waited it out but in the end commented to Topaz that I will not be using this in my workflow for now. It is somewhat unrealistic to think that someone is so desperate to try and recover a grossly out of focus image. Not only that it is hard to think that with modern equipment that someone would take a picture that is so out of focus and then decide they want to keep it. I really like the Topaz products and will wait until they fix this but I suspect the fix in the end will be part of a paid service using could rendering.
Not all photos were taken in the last 10 years....
Your assuming that maybe there are other images that are more in focus to choose from? Maybe there is only that ONE shot.. or maybe a photo from years ago, that at that time there was no post tool to bring the focus in?
I noticed that in the latest update, when using face restoration, strange freckles appear on the skin of the face, which are not actually there in a person. For now, I'm staying on version 3.2.2, since there is no such bug there. I hope that the developers will fix this bug.
Thanks for your presentation. Appreciate the real time details as well. I do specialized iris photography (human eyes, not the follower).I use Topaz to help me sharpen and denoise these macro photos. I have yet to try Super Focus. I'm going to try right now! I'm not going to wait 53 minutes! It's a tease on Topaz's part to do that. Why the hell would any well known software company release a product that takes this long to render? Granted, i don't know the res of the image you used, nor the Internet speed you use, but this is crazy.
Good review ... Thanks Dave 👍
Thanks Dave, I've been waiting for your review. I rarely do portraits so I'm not that excited about that feature The super focus looks promising as long as they fix the wait time. For me though I don't see enough changes to justify $200 for a product I've already put a couple hundred dollars into.
So far I am way under impressed. I liked AI3's predecessor Sharpen AI. I'm glad I waited and got Topaz's Xmas deal but still think Topaz has a long way to go to justify the price. And my version is not the beta version. I'm sure it takes a lot of programming work. IMHO, Topaz should have waited to bring out AI3 until it moved much closer to its promises.
I have a PC with a large video card I use for local AI use (a 48GB Nvidia RTX8000) - even with that awesome GPU it took 4 minutes to refocus using that card. All other Topaz operations such as face recovery takes 20 seconds using that card. Their algorithm sure needs work - it is not usable on end user computers for anything other than an occasional tinker. Still, it did a very good job.
Thanks for this really interesting tutorial!
Very helpful & informative Dave.. I can see a Gigapixel 8 pricing structure on the way. 👍🏻
Thank you very much Dave ! 👏👏
Whoa, 53 minutes on 1 photo for 1 function - am glad they are aware and hopefully will provide an improvement for that soon. I imagine if one were to try this on an older computer how much that would extend the processing time even more. I will still give it a try to see if it is something that I will use. I absolutely love the facial recovery function though. Thank you so much for showing us the update!
I have a PC with i7 20 core and RTX4070 super. It takes my PC 3 minutes, not 53 minutes.
@@MasonTorrey 7:15 shows pc stats David was using, 9:56 shows est. time of 53 min. Was going by these examples. Wonderful if not all experiences will be as long as shown in this example, so thanks for the info.
Thanks for this Dave, any thoughts on the order of these new modules in your process flow?
I really wish you could edit the shapes of the boxes like a more horizontal or verticle shape
I have a humble question: Do you think I can repeat the same process again on the same photo if it's saved as Tift or dng format to get a better result in the second time around?
Great job Dave. Just got my upgrade. This question is not related to the sharpening video, but I'm wondering if you could suggest one of your videos on studio 2 that changes the photograph into an oil painting. That would greatly be appreciated. Thanks again!.
Thanks Dave 🙂
Thanks Dave for the video. No doubt that Topaz AI is pretty good at recovering faces. But IMO, it has trouble with hands, and especially the fingers. Hair, necks and ears also have issues I feel. You may or not feel this way, but is Topaz trying to enhance and bring back and recover other parts like I mentioned or just faces. Is there any workarounds when the face is now great, the other body parts are not? What is the official list that Topaz Photo AI is suppose to improve with AI. I would appreciate any feedback or tips you could share.
Thank you Dave . Let’s hope they can quickly make a huge improvement to the speed of Super Focus
As someone who has used Topaz products for many years I’ve seen them constantly improving which is a good thing . However…..whereas until very recently my annual licence covered all of my Topaz products they have now split it into a licence for Topaz Photo Ai and a separate licence for Gigapixel Ai . Meaning that if I renewed both it is best enough a 100pct price increase 😩. For now I’ve only renewed Topaz Photo Ai . I don’t use Gigapixel Ai enough to warrant extending the licence especially when it will continue to work after licence expiry date …at least that is what I expect as per the existing license agreement. Maybe you have something to say about this especially as your code davidkelly no longer works .
check again because I thought gigapixel was included in Topaz photo. Or at least a version of it.
@@jonglaser4468 It's a bit hard to get good info about this, but my understanding is that while Photo AI can certainly do upscaling, GigaPixel is ahead of Photo AI in its development and there use cases where Gigapixel does a better job. YMMV
Do Topaz ever have any special offers/discounts such as Black Friday? For the amount I'd use it the current full price is a bit too much :(
I am waiting also..Its only a month away!
It may be youtube's compression, but I can't see any improvement before and after
Thank you!
The biggest problem for me is not the quality of the final image, because they are quite good, it's the enormous file sizes. Their Video AI is similar to the Photo AI. I rendered a 2-Gb file via Video AI. That short rendered 2-Gb file increased to 25-Gb. And, it took hours and hours to render. These two results alone unfortunately make that app impracticable. Gigapixel AI also creates huge file sizes.
7-8 mins for me on my 2023 home built Windows PC with a 61mp image...
Super Focus, what a complete bad joke. I selected a small are of a photo and took 45 minutes and pretty much did nothing for the most part and produced horrible artifacts. I am not trying to make something out of focus sharp. The are is slightly soft. Topaz has been releasing some very mediocre software the last few years. I am no longer paying the yearly update fees.
Oh brother, we are overreacting a little, aren't we?
@@BurhanMuntasser No, I am not. I have spoken a number of photographers that have stated that they find that Topaz far too often adds artifacts.
Agree 45 minuted plus is regular. Why are software companies producing for Super computers and not what everyone uses
@@BurhanMuntasserNo, not at all. I don’t know how or why Topaz could let this out the door. Perhaps if I had 128GB RAM and a graphics card with 32 GB onboard, it might speed up to a 30-minute wait. Other than that, it’s useless.
so so
Not worth the price their asking for update.
Really? I do’nt aggree with you.
im waiting for cyber monday
The subscription price is for "continual" updates through out the year not just one update. They release new versions with updates and improvements every 3 - 4 weeks or so.
