      I agree! Redefine is similar to existing upscalers out there, but coupled with the other tools, putting it in one place makes it very solid.

    Thanks for doing this tutorial. I've have had Gigapixel for a few months now and it is ok but did not impress me to much. Now with this upgrade and the well demonstrated tutorial that you've provided it is a much better upscaler. Thanks once again.

      This was the icing on the cake, especially for AI Art upscales. Redefine can take a lot of time to upscale though, but adding that High Fidelity upscale afterward works quite well after a redefine upscale to enhance the details.

    now, we get back to basics and use the Redefine model and the original or regularly upscaled image in photoshop with layer masks and blending modes and start painting in the details that you want in the places and spaces that you need. This is the best way (for now) to use your tools to create the most impactful images with the most control.

      I gotta give a shoutout to Affinity Photo here. You can do all of that with it too, but it's just a one time payment. You'll save tons of money and Affinity Photo has some nice features Photoshop doesn't. Like non-destructive resizing of all images while editing. Photoshop does have more AI generative functions, so if you're into those, Photoshop might still be the right choice.

    VERY excited to try this out. I’ve been working with diffusion models for years now, and have developed upscaling workflows that can match Magnific in comfyui (in CERTAIN photos. Topaz Gigapixel is phenomenal. I only use 7, don't dare use 8 cuz I'm on a 2015 MBPro which is akin to baking bread with this thing, but I pretty much ignore MJ updates on upscaling for POD. It's so bizarre to me that we now rez up instead of working from large format. Thanks Wade!

    6:53 As far as the creativity level goes, it would be helpful if we could use masking to be able to apply different levels of creativity to different parts of the image. Some parts of the image might look better with a higher level of detail, while other parts like the eyes in this case don’t look so great with so much added detail. For example, the eye in this image looks distorted on the generations that have more detail. On the higher detail version, for some reason, the iris size has been made smaller, and there are these strange striated lines on the white part of the eye that appear to be radiating from the iris. There should be no lines like that on the white part of the eye.

    • @armondtanz

      I do this all time. I place them on layers in photoshop then delete the annoying parts that have gone tol far.
      There may be free alternatives to photoshop. All you need is an app that has layers and an erase tool.

    • @WadeMcMaster
      @WadeMcMaster  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The redefine model could be with Stable Diffusion, if you have the time and patience to set it up and learn it then definitely! I lot of professionals however are too busy and a program like this is a lot more efficient, even when paying. When I was younger I used to bootstrap everything but now I'm a lot older and busier, in my business it's more profitable to just pay for someone to simplify this process in an easy interface.
      However, the Basic models and recover model, which have particular uses that Redefine just doesn't work well for, are exclusive to Topaz Gigapixel & Topaz Photo AI

    I have it yet tried this I'm curious if this is similar to magnifica or Krea

    • @WadeMcMaster
      @WadeMcMaster  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think this upscaler is a response to the upscalers like Magnific, so it is similar in nature.
      I want to add thought that basic upscalers, coupled with this make it the best stack imo - as you can add a tonne of detail, get a decent sized image, then use high fidelity or another basic upscaler to get it up to that next level size which doesn't require insane intricate details.
      So the total package is what sells it for me - until then I used to use Leonardo Ai's universal upscaler (simialr ot magnific and krea, and sometimes I still will use it), then Id bring that image into topaz for the second step.

I made like 5K+ Flux landscape images so far, but they are too small and I want them to be upscaled to my 4K monitor. All of these upscaling online AI services would cost a bank in many places. Please guide through landscape upscaling locally. For some reason, no upscaler works well for landscapes. Only good natural looking one was Leonardo, which was again heavily paid service. I decided to upgrade from version 7 after watching the new generative models-really impressive results on display. But when I tried it on my own setup, it was a huge letdown. Even using the 1080x1080 Midjourney image, I couldn’t get past the preview to do anything remotely creative. It’s just not usable. I haven't tried the cloud-based option yet, but honestly, I’m not looking for another pay-as-you-go setup just to process images. The Basic models here are fantastic, but the generative models feel half-baked-Topaz still has some work to do.

      I'm sorry to hear that mate. It does take some time to render the previews and final images, it's shame it takes so much processing power to do. But if it helps, I've had luck copying the base image a few times and just setting it up multiple times (same prompt) with suffering creativity levels and just left it while I did something else. If it takes a long time on your computer that's a potential solution. I also wouldnt go over 4x using redefine if you have trouble also

If you have very powerful hardware it works, like running Flux 1.1 locally but without it you are going to be paying a lot to process these via the cloud. Topaz are charging a lot to run redefine via the cloud.
    Although the models do what they say you need serious hardware or else the $99 is just the entrance fee to the new features. Magnific have set the price bar and Topaz look set to follow.
