    Thank you! I take a lot of pictures of birds and squirrels and I'm finding the Natural looks so much better. Fur/feathers don't look so crunchy! Go Topaz! Go Dave!

    Tony - great bonus video. I wanted alert you and your followers to a problem I have been having using Topaz Photo AI via Lightroom ever since version 3.0 came out and see if others have experienced the same thing.. Specifically, the issue is that the file that Photo AI returns to LR may be missing the EXIF data that was contained in the original RAW file. After hours (days!) of experimentation I think I have identified the cause my problem. My normal workflow has been to have LR simultaneously rename my RAW file and convert it to DNG upon import. I then send that file (which contains the EXIF data of the original RAW file) to Topaz Photo AI as you do, but the file that is returned to LR is missing the EXIF data. However, if I do not have LR rename the file on input - but only have it convert the RAW file to a DNG file (the DNG file still retains the EXIF data) - then rename the DNG file inside of LR (that is after it is imported into LR) - and then send the renamed DNG file to Photo AI, the file Photo AI returns does contain the EXIF data that was in both the original RAW and DNG file. I have had some others confirm that this has been their experience as well. I have been working with the Topaz and Adobe folks on this issue but so far it has not been resolved.

    I am a Nikon guy. I TRIED THE REFOCUS with an image I stacked, which was a dng file after stacking and the refocus image came back with the colors matching very good in the area that was sharp BUT the out of focus background was much brighter and extremely saturated.

    The new sharpening model Lens Blur V2 produces a lot of artefacts. The results of other new model "Natural" aren't much better. Both models are unusable for me. The nest thing is that there's a visible color shift in the files that are created with PAI 3.2. The .tif files are in a warmer color temparature as the original. This result I can't use for further processing. At the moment I go back ti Sharpener AI 4.1. This works fine.

    Dave - Prior to seeing this (excellent as always) I had downloaded the updated version and was playing with it on some landscape images that were slightly soft . I found the difference between Standard, Lensblur 2 and Refocus were dramatically different. The photos I was working with were Antarctica icebergs and on some images the differences between the AI algorithms literally changed what the surface of the iceberg looked like. It’s really worth noting that rather than accepting what Topaz first produces, and experimenting among the different models and the strengths’ settings to see what works best is really important. One question for you. When you run sharpening in Topaz AI, what do you do with the sharpening settings in LR? Do you totally disable them to avoid over sharpening?

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Dave great tip and I agree with you. I do disable Lightroom's sharpening on the returned Photo Ai image so it's not over sharpened.

    Hi Dave! since you generally use a linear profile as a starting point for editing, doesn’t this make it difficult? Linear profiles give a flatter duller image than say camera faithfu so how would you work around that?

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You can still use a linear profile. Start with any camera matching profile and when the image comes back to LR just change to a Linear Profile.

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Tony, yes you can. Send the image to Photo Ai with any matching Camera Profile and when it comes back change it to a linear profile and you should be good to go.

    Hi Dave. I don't know if you can help me with this. When I export from LR to Topaz Phot Ai, the color from one and the other varies a lot. Where could be the issue?
    Thanks so much

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If you are using a Canon Camera make sure you have the same Camera Matching profile on the original CR file as you do on the DNG file that was returned from Photo Ai. If both Camera Matching profiles are not the same this could be the reason. You will need to change one of them to match the other. I have noticed that sometimes there is a mismatch for some reason.

      @@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly Thanks Dave. No, I use a Sony Camera and the difference in color is so visible from Lr to Topaz once exported that annoys me. I know it can't be 100% exact but, not that difference. Could be any setting in Topaz app or the only solution is wait for the Sony profiles to be in Topaz?

    it was a shame that Adobe went to subscription model and now Topaz just charges by the yearly upgrade plan.. this upgrade from Topaz is $200 and you get updates for a year.... so instead of paying Topaz each month like you would with Adobe you get to pay Topaz by the year... not a cool way to treat your customers that have been with Topaz for years... time to say NO WAY JOSE and go elsewhere...

    • @alandyer910
      @alandyer910 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      So it’s a $200 a year subscription?! For a program that is just for NR, Sharpening and Upscaling. That’s costly. And what did you pay for Topaz DeNoise AI and Sharpen AI, for programs that are now dead and abandoned.

    • @graham_T
