She might have been nervous, but she is so well trained she behaved impeccably. A credit to her humans.
as her human, we say thank you! :)
@@tayaburzynski1365- Tola is a beautiful pup. She is a lean and mean machine! What’s your experience been training her? Has it been particularly challenging in any way? I love to learn about dogs and training - as am researching appropriate breeds for my family and lifestyle.
@@nathanwilliams2152 she is so trainable; our trainers say that what takes some dogs 3 lessons to learn, she always learns in 1. They are sensitive, spunky, active and physical. But if you meet their physical/ mental needs, they can easily be taught to have a good off-switch at home. We do some scentwork, disc/ frisbee, dock diving, trail running and obedience training. If you have kids, they will need a lot of education on how to act around these dogs. Beaucerons are nicknames "bounce-arounds" because of their physicality and jumpiness. She is also incredibly sweet, polite and good with dogs. She's the best thing that's come into my life!
she has her backend against the wall, she's definitely nervous

Beauceron info for those interested:
The dog in the video is a “Harlequin” coat dog. Black and tan, with grey mixed throughout. This is the much more rare coat pattern, with most of the dogs being black & tan. When you combine the standard black&tan coat with the fact that most Beaucerons in North America have cropped ears, the majority of folks who see them think that they are either a “long haired Dobermann” or some kind of Dobie/GSD mix.
It’s not a totally unreasonable guess, when you consider that the Beauceron is actually one of the foundational breeds of the dobie. Louis Dobermann’s first dogs were Beauceron mixes.
Their double-dew claws are not to be removed. Not only because they are breed standard, but unlike most canine dew claws, they are attached by bone.
They are known to be slower to mature than many other working breeds (especially the males) but are still very trainable, and excel at many different working/sport disciplines. Some folks even compete with them in bite sports like French Ring and Schutzhund, even though these dogs are usually not naturally gifted at biting like Malinois and GSDs.
One of the best things about the Beauceron in America is that despite being a very old breed (earliest mentions are in 1500’s renaissance writings) the AKC has only recognized them since 2007. So they are very healthy, and the working line dogs are the same as the showline dogs. I.e. the AKC hasn’t ruined them yet like they did the GSD.
Thank you for the detailed information about this breed. Many people, I’m sure, aren’t aware of the breed (like me).
Thank you very much for this extra information. It’s excellent.
thank you!! this is great
Do other dogs have double dew claws? Never heard of this. Great info, ty. Agree with the AKC wreckage 🙄
@@kathleenchaffin2591 Yes, actually. The Great Pyrenees and the Briard also have double-dews. Coincidentally, they are all from them same French region! In fact, the Beauceron is called the “Berger de Beauce” (Shepherd from Beauce) and the Briard was called “Berger de Brie” (Shepherd from Brie). So while it’s not officially stated, it’s likely that all of these breeds are interrelated.
Vanessa: "I use a facial wipe for Tola's face."
Tola: Immediately uses her tongue for Vanessa's face.
🐶🤣
She doesn’t like the noise of the grooming process but she’s definitely been well-socialised. Her owners seem on top of everything - her teeth are gleaming and she’s a lean, mean, lovable machine. This dog can kill a wolf, so firm training and socialisation is a must.
A little quid pro quo

Turn around is fair play 🐶

Lol that was so creepy 😂
🤣🤣🤣 I love how just before the small blowdryer goes on the poor thing is giving you major side eye and then when you move closer with the blowdryer in your hand she looks right into the camera with such an ‘O god what fresh hell is this!’ look 🤣🤣🤣
I'm gonna go back just to note the side eye ;D
Tola breaking the forth wall 😂😂
Your advice that "positive reinforcement and building confidence in stressful situations" helps enable freedom and happiness for a dog, sounds pretty good for raising a human, too.
Never heard of this breed but what a GORGEOUS doggo, and love she was trying hard to cooperate while being so stressed out
Beaucerons are amazing dogs I was blessed to meet in France, where they are also nicknamed "Bas-Rouge" (meaning "red stockings"). Watching trained Beaucerons quietly work livestock is a wonder to behold, and though they are imposing and protective of their family I always found them sound and wise in temperament. I love this one's uncropped ears and how well she behaved for her first groom.
What a beautiful girl. Hope she can overcome some of her nerves as she experiences more groomings.
Pretty dog, too.
I am sure she will... she is still young. These dogs are really fearless... You can literally tear the down a slab with a jackhammer around a sleeping beauceron. You need more than that to get this very stubborn animal to move if he doesn't want to. Don't ask me how I know...
She will get used to it, no problem. She is a baby still, only 10 months old, so she is still working on her confidence.
SHE WAS NOT NERVOUS!!!!! HE WAS ANXIOUS!!!! DOGS CAN NOT SMILE: THE WOMEN CUT THE NAILS WRONG!!!!!!!!!
We had a Beauceron when I was a toddler. She sadly passed away before I grew old enough to actually really remember her. But from what I have been told by my parents, we could have not asked for a more loyal dog. Wish I could have made more experiences with her.
We must appreciate dogs while we have them
We had a puppy when I was 3, we only had her for about a month due to her being very crazy and energetic for my family with young kids, but I remember so clearly when my mom picked me up from daycare and she was a crate sleeping. I also remember sneaking out of my room at night to go see her, she hated being in a crate. And lastly I remember when she left. I was so sad, and after she left I guess her new owner gave her to someone else cause she tried to eat her chinchilla, and then that owner gave her to the shelter cause she had so much energy. My mom said she got trained good, and she said she saw a picture of her older, but I never saw it. She would be about 10-11 now if she is still alive.
@@abbij2009lmao what a shitty owner, giving away your dog cause it ate your food once
She did remarkably well for her first groom.
"That'll do pig, that'll do."
Gets me every time
I love that movie.
Anyone else notice how beautiful this dogs teeth are? She's definitely so well cared for. ❤
This is because she is only 10 months old. Interesting fact is that the look of the teeth is one of the methods vets use to determine a dog's age.
She also looks well-fed, so her teeth are not damaged by food.🐶
That is true but you can also tell how well they were taken care of. My dog had frequent, scheduled cleanings and her teeth were great up until her death at 14 years old.@@Verbatino
Her teeth were the first beautiful feature I noticed about Tola.
SHE WAS NOT NERVOUS!!!!! HE WAS ANXIOUS!!!! DOGS CAN NOT SMILE: THE WOMEN CUT THE NAILS WRONG!!!!!!!!!
@@VerbatinoMy 11 month old already has yellowing teeth, and that’s with occasional brushing, a dental additive to his food, and chews! Ugh.
PSA to not give your puppies soft treats - the yellowing on his teeth is only where the soft treats would build up during training 🤦🏻♀️
I’m french, and a friend of mine has had 3 Beaucerons. All sweet, amazing dogs if they liked you (which luckily for me, they did, I spent my time outside with them whenever I went to visit my friend). But they are also amazing guard dogs and can be extremely intimidating. Most people were terrified of them at first. They are very powerful, so you really need to train them well to avoid getting tackled 😅
I have to say I have never seen a beaucerons with that kind of merle coat before tho. They are usually black and brown just like dobermans. She looks beautiful.

Tola is adorable. Look at that sweet furry face. She's well trained, and handled the grooming like the sweet pup she is. Good girl Tola.
I had the pleasure of interacting with a Beauceron puppy, unfortunately cropped, at the veterinary practice where I worked. I was extremely excited as I had heard about and researched this breed as I'm a sucker for a good herding dog. When I asked the owner what were her plans for the puppy - Schutzhund, agility, herding... training? Nope. She replied, "Just to chase around my kids." And I cried when I went home. At about 5 or 6 months he was already at 70 lbs, we couldn't get near him and the owner had zero control and couldn't even muzzle him, so we could work with him. I went home and cried again.
This video was lovely to see- this pretty girl experiencing a new, positive situation with uncropped ears to boot! ❤
Jeez, that's sad. Humans can really suck.
god that's heartbreaking
I had a similar experience. First time dog owners, both seniors, bought a Beauceron for its looks. They were not at all prepared for their dog's protectiveness, alertness and to top it off, they were physically unable to keep the dog from lunging at people.😢
It drives me nuts when people get certain breeds just to have them. And the dog winds up paying the price bc they aren’t giving proper exercise, discipline and or enrichment.
This is unfortunately a common thing. People complain about how much this breed is gatekept, but this is exactly why. This Breed can be so fantastic, or they can be dangerous. We try our best to keep these dogs out of situations that could make them dangerous.
Well this puppy is stressed.....but very well behaved....really love the side eye she gave the dryer of death........great job! Hope your day is a good one!
Her coat pattern is amazing 🤩
I had a Bauceron and if I were to get another dog, I would go for the same breed. She was exceptional and the epitome of a Good Dog.
She looks almost like if you were to get a long haired doberman! Partly the coat colours but also the long snout with the half flop ears. She's precious.
Good eye! This breed was actually used to help create the Doberman!
Her facial expressions have me cackling!! 😂😂 I've never seen such an expressive dog. So proud of her for being brave!!
DOOOOOOOGS CAN NOOOOOOOOOT SMIIILEE!!!!!!!!! THE DOG WAS SCARED FOR HER LIFE!!!!!!! IMAGINE HAVING A ROPE OVER YOUR HEAD!!!! She even cut the nails absolutly wrong!!!! This is very bad....
I love all these videos, I learn so much about so many dogs, but I also realized you could totally make up any dog and I would accept it, no question.
Girl with the Dogs: and this. is a Beauregard Regal Beagle.
Me: omg a Beauregard Regal Beagle, go off
that would be a good idea for an april fools day video. just groom some random mutt and say it's some made-up breed
😂😂😂
After we lost our first dog, a white German Shepherd mix, I had taken my cat to the vet for a check up. The receptionist told me they had been waiting to introduce me to a dog that had been abandoned there after being brought in for treatment and he’d been there for three months. They’d all discussed how we’d be a perfect family if we were ready. She brought out this 85 lb. golden dog who was sad and quiet. I wasn’t sure but my cat was immediately comfortable. I agreed we’d try over the weekend and see how it went. I asked what kind of dog he was and she said, “A Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever”. I laughed and told her she made that up to impress me so I’d take him home. She said no, it was a real breed. This was in the mid 1990s. Bear was 7 and was ours for 12 years. He was the most patient and loyal dog, loving and kind. He was totally devoted. But I always thought how funny his breed name was until I finally met others who knew of them, like Vanessa. I’m with you, she could make up breed names and I’d believe her.
Same because I don’t know much about dogs and would believe it!! 😂
Me too 😂😂😂

1:43 Her complete look of apprehension really got me. 😂
I actually have heard of this breed! Though I only learned about it relatively recently, I like to call them by their alternate name, _Bas Rouge_ (French for ”red-stockings”)
I assume Rogue is the work of Stupid Auto Cucumber™ :)? If not, it's actually Rouge.
@@mickgorro oh my gosh thank you for pointing it out I just fixed it lmao
So glad Tola did not have her ears cropped as I have seen in so many photos of the Beaucerons I came across.

Well done Pig.
The Beauceron what a beautful highly intelligent dog thanks for sharing her with us.
Beauceron means "inhabitant from Beauce" in french. Beauce is a rural region situated around Paris.
This dog is also called "Bas-Rouge", which means Red Stockings. They indeed have orange/red/Mahogany hair on their legs.
Sometimes also called Beauce Shepherd
We are 90% sure our rescue is a Beauceron or maybe a New Zealand Huntaway. We needed to get him some very specific and intense training because of his power and dominance! So happy to see a pup like our big buddy! 💕
I met two of them this summer, they were such sweet boys 😍 the other one was under a year old, so he was super exited with his greeting.
What a beautiful coat! She was so well behaved even though she was afraid. Great dog!
Awe! This has been my favorite dog breed since I was a kid. I could never own one unless it was a lazy senior. I know that Im not active enough for the breed and couldn't give one the amount of attention it deserves.
Tola is a beautiful dog, even when stressed. You and she are very patient and tolerant and I hope that when she gets older, she will adjust better to any situation and say to herself, 'silly me, I have spent so long doing scared when happy is easier'. I thank you for sharing.
We had two....the most AMAZING dog breed....one was a rescue from France and the other from a reputable breeder....miss them every day...
I DID enjoy the TERRIFIC TOLA!
I really like the doggo + breed info you share.
Thank you so much Vanessa!
My friend has a 2-year-old Beauceron girl. Nearly 90 pounds of pure happiness and energy 😂 they really need a strong owner's hand, but they are sweet creautres indeed ❤
Tola does look like a cross between a Dobermann and Malinois. That's one very beautiful dog!
It's so very obvious that she's only 10 months - she still looks a bit puppyish with the long slightly clumsy legs. She still has to grow and settle into her adult form a little more. And she did very well, although everything was new and scary. She looked at the blow dryer as if she was afraid it might eat her at first, but did her best to be brave anyway.
I hope she'll be on the channel again in the future.
Tola in my language means “silly girl”, so it totally made sense when you said she rolled on a dead worm “Thanks, Tola” 😂
I cracked up at that part
I love when you put so much time and effort into grooming a dog, and as soon as they hit the backyard they roll in the dirt 😂😂😂
It's like the ultimate "Fluff you" 😂😂😂
She is so pretty.
aww 10 months still just a little baaaaaby 🥺
Watching animals being cared for is my therapy. Thanks for the great work.
dogs faces while wearing the happy hoodie will always make me giggle 🙈😂
Tola is a wonderful dog, so brave. And a lucky dog to have such a skilled and compassionate groomer for her first groom. Great job.😊
Oh, the Babe reference. My son, who is now 30, called it Dave the Pigger for the longest time. Hearing the reference brought back memories. I'm moving across the country from him and nostalgia is thick at the moment. Thanks for bringing back another good memory. 🐷
Could see the dog constantly looking to the human for guidance, that's the sign of an intelligent well trained dog.
I love everything about her. Her name, coloring, gracefulness and her breed 😍 She is definitely on the smaller side. I've never seen Beauceron this small ❤❤❤
She's so stinkin' cute and her teeth are gorgeous.
My daughter in law's mother had a Beauceron as a service dog. Nero was an amazing dog.
Tola is beautiful and a very brave young lady !!!
Yay, a new dog breed! Tola’s gorgeous 🥰🥰
She did Great and fought through the situation like a champ 🎉. Kudos to her owners who definitely have done a great job raising and socializing this doggie. As always, another great video Vanessa 😊.
I consider myself someone who’s pretty knowledgeable on dog breeds, but one day at work not too long ago, I see one of the dog’s paperwork, and sure enough, it’s a beauceron. I hadn’t heard of them until then, but they seem like really cool dogs.
Love your videos- from your narration (voice so calming) to the dog in the beautifully landscaped yard being a dog- lovely. Thank you.
Oh! I did know that this breed existed. I read that it is one of the breeds from which the Doberman originates, my favorite breed. 😉
Bro this is literally my dream dog and you got to touch one😭😭 so jealous. I looked at the thumbnail and was like is that a Beauceron??! And then read the title and it was. I can’t even believe this. It’s always shocking seeing people talk about the Beauce because they genuinely are not a super popular breed. I like it that way tho.
Her face when you pulled out the dryer hose...”What fresh hell is this?!?” lolol What a beautiful baby!

She was super for her first time. I was impressed that she never barked ...unless you edited that out!!?? Even still she's amazing !

I like how you give the dogs the confidence to get them thru
Great lesson! Beautiful dog!❤
Tola is beautiful and what a great job for her first grooming! I love her coat
I will never forget the first Beauceron I encountered in France. A massive dog who seemed to combine the best qualities of a German Shepherd and a Rottweiler, with a truly noble expression.
Such a beautiful pup!
Vanessa, I LOVED the authoritative voice with her. She understood that YOU were in control and calmed down. Thank you!

Aww, what a sweet girl! She mastered her nerves, and was so well behaved. Probably one of the best behaved for the nail clipping!
She is so beautiful - and such a dog! 😊❤
Awe she's such a adorable Lil baby
Tola is gorgeous. I didn't know they had double dew claws. I'm glad her owner takes good care of her ❤
Sometimes I wonder just how many breeds my former dog had. This dog reminded me much of her in appearance, we bought her from our neighbor's litter, so we never knew just what breed she was. She was a little annoying because of her tendency to run to the street, pick fights with other dogs, chase cars and motorcycles and roll on mud, but I admit I miss her crazy behavior.
She sounds like am amazing dog, mud rolling and all.
Such a sweetheart!
She was soo good. So beautiful and I love her colouration. What a good girl.

they definitely deserve the "beau" in their breed name ~w~
Not to be pedantic because I think people might genuinely be interested in the origin of the name, but "beauceron" is the name of the inhabitants of the Beauce region of France :3
