That said, the Samurai could climb and dig on a considerably more steep or slippery slope than the overpriced luxury ride, if that's what one desires. I have a Samurai. ...and a 4x4 Tacoma. Not a BMW X5, and I could have bought one before I retired. Where I live, I don't need the BMW or anything like it. I'd drive a Pinzgauer if things were more severe. I specifically moved to where it's sometimes difficult, but always beautiful.
