Make sure to watch this one all the way to the end as I share with you my ownership experience including the good and not so good after riding the 2023 Street Glide ST for just over 1,500 miles. Thanks for watching, please like, share, comment and subscribe! Rick
Thanks for the info I just bought my first harley may 5th 2024. It is a 2023 fast Johnnie street glide st I'm looking to swap air filter to k&n, slip on pipes, and bars with heather grips. Also I still have to read my manual And set my bike up fully with suspension adjustment, unlock code, Bluetooth
Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy that new bike...I really like the Fast Johnnie paint set. No shortage of upgrades with a new bike. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
I am guessing the Harley minds were thinking that keeping the push rod covers chrome against the black engine it would resemble a V. Hence the V twin shape. Just a thought.
You review is spot on,the good and the bad, hopefully adding the road glide ST to the garage in next few weeks, customizing hopefully take care of a lot of the bad, thanks👍👍
Thanks for watching and commenting. All things noted can be made better...just takes a few more dollars and time. I've also ridden the Road Glide ST and did a detailed review comparing to the Road Glide Special. That's what lead me to purchase a Road Glide last year. If you are already a subscriber thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
Seems like all the "normal" things that Harley isn't so great on building a motorcycle. The chrome pushrod covers baffle me. They did the same on my RKS. Great review brother.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I never thought about it like you stated but in the end that is about right unless you go crazy. Thank for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
Excellent video Rick. I agree with everything you had to say. I just completed my 10,000 mile service on my Road Glide ST, and I couldn’t be happier. I’m planning on ditching the breather, as you mentioned, and I’d love to get the new Screaming Eagle tuner. I also think that the bike handles very well, and believe that it’s due to the lower weight and lean ability. The 117 motor, with the performance cam gives me all the power I need. Overall, I’m very happy with this bike after the first 11,000 miles. Great job!!!!
Thanks for watching and commenting. I'm not exactly sure I understand your question but I'm guessing your referring to the engine break in. So I basically follow the Harley break in schedule. Keep RPMS under 3,000 for first 50 to 100 miles. Then vary engine speed during first 500 miles and dont go full throttle....that's pretty much it. Thanks for your support and ride safe. ✌️👊👍
Dyno tune it, slap a straight through SE slip ons and a jackpot headers. Looks stock but sounds wayyy better. With dyno tuning it, you get more responsiveness. That 117 is just perfect. If you have extra dough, put a pair of SE Ohlins reservoir adjustable shocks...now you have a well tuned smooth responsive perfect bike. Not too abnoxious, just a nice simple perfect bike.
Thanks for watching and providing your thoughts on the bike. I appreciate it. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👍✌️👊
Great video. I absolutely love my RG ST. I’m 6’1 and went to Thrashin Supply foot controls with the adjustable brake arm. Zero issues with the heavy breather snorkel. Just FYI. Thrashin Supply makes insanely good products. Keep the great videos coming 🤘🏽
Thanks for watching and commenting. I am familiar with Thrashin Supply but haven't used any of their products yet. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
I think they put the chrome pushrod covers on, because they expect ST owners to get as much power out of the bike (being a "performance bagger") so the pushrods will be cut to put in a cam, and then replaced with black anyway
Thanks for watching and commenting. I agree with your point. Unfortunately black covers are very hard to find at the moment. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. 👍✌️👊
Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate your input on the topic. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. ✌️👍👊
Thanks Martin for watching and subscribing. The ST is a very fine bike...I'm really enjoying it so far. I look forward to seeing your comments on other and future videos. Ride safe and enjoy. 👍✌️👊

Well you can add a Road Glide Special to the mix. The garage currently has the 2021 Street Glide CVO, 2021 Road Glide Special and the 2023 Street Glide ST. I ride these bikes nearly daily year round. This is not just a hobby but a part of my daily life. I am also a Road Captain for a ride group and a MSF, MMSP and Harley certified rider coach/instructor. Thanks for watching and commenting. If you are already a subscriber...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
This is just a guess, but I think they put the chrome pushrods covers, etc so subtly lean a buyer to buy the black accent appointments for your bike. Like @JustGKue stated below, I think they should include the performance upgrades if they're going to market as such. It'g good to hear you're enjoying your ownership experience.
Agreed. I have a 2020 RG Special and one of the first things I did was replace the chrome jiffy stand and chrome shift linkage. I don't think I'll replace the mill finished bolts but that would be nice.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes those ate items as well that don't seem to make sense on a blacked out bike. If you are already a subscriber...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
Really nice review of your experience. Glad overall you like new ride. The lightness of it is for sure nice feature of this model and of course the 117”. I love this tshirt - hell on wheels 🤣👍
Like the review ! Anyone after see this review will k ow what to expect both good and bad. Ya know my experience both buying new Harleys here (Canada). You gotta plan on price after the price of the bike. With Stage 1 , minim upgrade required to ride, and our 12% sales tax …. Add 25% to price of the bike to start riding.
Thanks Craig for watching and commenting. As you mention...one must plan for upgrades when buying a Harley generally no matter the model...and it's not all roses. A few thorns here and there. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
Thanks for watching and commenting. I have had a Street Glide since 2016 and a Road Glide since 2022. I've ridden both fairing styles in all types of wind and weather conditions. Frankly, I really don't notice much if any difference with either fairing style. No difference that I noticed on either in cross winds. I have another video on the channel where I compate the Street Glide and Road Glide in detail. You may want to check that one out as well. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. ✌️👊👍

Thanks Darin for watching and subscribing to the channel. It's always nice to have local subscribers to the channel. If you ever see me put on one of the bikes, stop me and say hello.
Being a first time HD user I loved the SG ST.. looks a perfect and sounds perfect with TABs. I also have to solve the brake issue and double seat for my daughter. She's very unhappy :)
Thanks for watching and commenting. Both issues are fairly simple to resolve..just some time and money. If you are already a subscriber...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. ✌️👍👊
Thanks for the comment. Apparently he was missing a right leg or it was really short. If you go back to my videos, you will see one I out out on that topic as I had to change it on my 2021 Street Glide CVO as well. I will be changing it on this bike in a future video as well to a Screamin Eagle KN high flow breather element. If you are already a subscriber thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
I have a 2018 limited and absolutely hated the way the factory set up the rear light. Trunk light for brighter than the tail light. Went to my local Harley-Davidson dealer Pig Trail in Rogers Arkansas. Bought me a whole mess of custom Dynamic lighting
Thanks William for sharing your input. I have a box full of Custom Dynamics lighting I will be adding to the bike in the not too distant future. Once I get done...it will be lit up. Ride safe and enjoy. 👍✌️👊
Thanks for watching and subscribing. So you want to do a tune...a couple of questions which will drive an answer. Is your bike in warranty and do you want to keep it in warranty? If so, you really can only use a Harley Screamin Eagle tuner. If not, you have a lot of options. If you want the best possible tune...go to a good reputable dyno tuner. If you want to do it yourself, Vance and Hines has FP3 and FP4 tuners. I also believe Dyno Jet recently came out with a Bluetooth tuner called power jet 4...I think that's it. I hope that helps you with some direction. Thanks for your support and ride safe. ✌️👍👊
Thanks for watching and commenting. It is definitely not an easy decision. I'd definitely suggest getting out and riding both...the 117 engine sure is nice on the ST. If you are already a subscriber thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
@HDVIBE I actually subscribed on either this video or the ST Reinhart/Tuner video. (Either way, it was today.) As far as the baggers go, I was looking at the base Street Glides, but saw the Prodigy wheels and chopped engine guard on the Specials. I did the math on adding the wheels and guards to the base model, and it's cheaper to get the Special. Plus, you get the 114...
Thanks so much for subscribing. Yes sometimes it doesn't make sense to get the base model if your wanting to upgrade. Plus as you said you get the 114...which is a great engine. Put a SE8 447 cam in it and it will run with the 117. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👍
Rick i have a streetglide st fast johnnie. Doing a stage 2 (feuling 472 cam) . Just pulled the cam bearing from the factory. Guess what, its a full needle KOYO bearing. I can't believe it. Did anyone else know about this?
Wow...that is awesome. I spend a lot of time with the HD Master Techs at my local dealership...I've never heard this before. Thanks for sharing this. If I ever decide what I'm going to do with my ST, I'll have the cam bearing checked to see what's in there. Ride safe and enjoy. ✌️👊👍
Thanks Mike for watching and commenting. I appreciate the kind words. If you are already a subscriber...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍

Thanks for watching, commenting, and subscribing to the channel. I look forward to seeing your comments on other and future videos. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
Great video...I enjoyed riding the SGST...the 117 is fun engine!!...my biggest complaint with the SGST...and it's the same for all the touring models...those stock bars!...they just don't work for me!!...thanks for sharing...stay safe out there!!😎👍🤙👍🤙🇨🇦
Thanks for watching and commenting. I've never had any problem with the stock bars on my bikes...but it's probably one of those things that until you change them, you don't know that the stocks bars can be improved upon. Ride safe and enjoy. 👍✌️👊
I own a standard 2023 SG... 2 issues I had to address was the crappy seat and windshield due to buffeting. My only real complaint is how top heavy the bike is. My previous two HDs were the 2019 Heritage Classic and Freewheeler trike. The Heritage was nice and light. Otherwise, I love it. I also have the 107, which I prefer. In my opinion, these engines are getting too big with the air and oil cooled antiquated technology. My VW 1600 cc engines had better cooling features than my expensive HD. Go figure :-(
Thanks Richard for watching and commenting. The Heritage is definitely a fine bike. I had the opportunity to ride one this weekend both on the road and on the range. The lighter weight was definitely noticed in both riding conditions. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
@@HDVIBE I enjoyed my Heritage... however, it was a much smaller bike than my SG. the Heritage and my SG could not be any more different in the way they ride. the SG handles highway speeds better. if the SG was not so top heavy with the bar mounted fairing, it would be hands down one of the best HD motorcycles ever produced. take care. I enjoy watching your videos and insight. thank you : - )
Thanks Shane for watching and commenting. I appreciate the kind words. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. ✌️👊👍
If you just add slip ons...you don't NEED a tune but, the Stage 1 tune really improved throttle response. Also with the tuner you can run auto tune sessions to get an even better air/fuel ratio across the power band. Thanks for watching and commenting. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. ✌️👊👍
I feel like if they're gonna market the bike as a performance bike...i would like if they made the upgraded shocks standard in the front and back standard. the 117 is a perfect ci for the bike but it diminished the cvo at that point. no way they should have released two bike withe same motor in it if they are "specialty" bikes.
Thanks for watching and for your insightful comment. From my perspective the ST is a good starting point if you want to go the hi performance route..but you still need to spend a lot of $$$$ to get it there. Ride safe and enjoy. 👍✌️👊
Can Harley owners please explain: Why buy a new Harley Davidson motorcycle, when you have to spend MORE money just to make it rideable?? Can you spec your Harley before you buy it, or is it better to buy a used cheaper Harley and rebuild it to your personal preference?
Thanks for watching and commenting. Just to clarify I in no way wanted to imply the bikes are not rideable from the factory. Many of the upgrades I and others make are by choice...to make the bike "your own". This is the the first brand new bike I have ever purchased. I have purchased 4 other Harleys since 2016 with all of them being pre-owned. You really can not "order" a Harley the way you want it...maybe a few options but for the most part the trim level is set. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍

Thanks Mark for watching and commenting. Seats certainly are personal preference. I only run Saddlemen seats on all my bikes as they work very well for me both for daily riding and long distance. Thanks for the info I just bought my first harley may 5th 2024. It is a 2023 fast Johnnie street glide st I'm looking to swap air filter to k&n, slip on pipes, and bars with heather grips. I am guessing the Harley minds were thinking that keeping the push rod covers chrome against the black engine it would resemble a V. Hence the V twin shape. Just a thought.
That could be. I never thought about it from that perspective. 👍

@@HDVIBE I enjoyed my Heritage... however, it was a much smaller bike than my SG. the Heritage and my SG could not be any more different in the way they ride. the SG handles highway speeds better. if the SG was not so top heavy with the bar mounted fairing, it would be hands down one of the best HD motorcycles ever produced. take care. I enjoy watching your videos and insight. thank you : - )
Thank you. 👍
Good review

I thought you don’t need a tune with this bike because it comes pre tuned
If you just add slip ons...you don't NEED a tune but, the Stage 1 tune really improved throttle response. Also with the tuner you can run auto tune sessions to get an even better air/fuel ratio across the power band. Thanks for watching and commenting. Great share Fam
Thanks Jr. Much appreciated. ✌️
@@HDVIBE no doubt ✌🏾

I can't stand that air filter ...
Thanks for watching and commenting. I'm with you on the snorkel air cleaner. Looks good but doesn't work well from a riders perspective. If you are already a subscriber thank you. Saddlemen seats are garbage. You must like sitting on cardboard.
The luggage good
Thanks Mark for watching and commenting. Seats certainly are personal preference. I only run Saddlemen seats on all my bikes as they work very well for me both for daily riding and long distance. What seat do you run or suggest?
