Hes got one of those shots thats never cold, you never need to warm that up. Most people have kind of a "feel" shot, larry doesn't need that, he's telling that ball exactly where to go
His fall away is one of the most beautiful shots in basketball.
I watched another great great state that many players went home off season and tried hard to replicate it.
I definitely get that. I'd need a feeler shot from 3PT but not so much FT because of set shots from the FT line being that ingrained that it seemed automatic even from a cold start.
When I was an arm shooter, feel wasn't important. When I switched to fingers, feel is critical. Bird has a lot of arm in his form, but he perfected it, so he's "cash" when cold. ... that's my guess.
Larry had many skills, most notably his skills as a passer. His passing game was on POINT, but there is only one area he is still not able to be fake humble about.
My man was a straigjt shooter. Ask him any day if he could make a shot someone else made.

As a kid who grew up in Los Angeles watching the showtime Lakers, as much as I hated Bird back then he was the toughest guy to watch us play against. Even hurt he was busting shots in the best defensive players of the time faces consistently. It’s hard for me to say who is greatest of all time because there were so many great players but Bird is right up there with the best of them. He didn’t need athleticism he had vision and knowledge of the court position of players etc and could make any shot even telling you where he was shooting from.

Bird was a good team defender and played the game like chess he was always three moves ahead of everybody and always knew where to be and always got into peoples heads and was great at deflecting passes and causing other peoples offense to become stagnant. Good hands and good reflexes and always out worked and out hustled his opponents because he had to make up for not being as fast strong or athletic. Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.
