  • Creeping Charlie is a difficult weed to control. I go into detail on why this is the case. Creeping Charlie sends out stolons or runners that create new plants. Many of these new plants at the end of the stems are so small that they do not have enough surface area for the Triclopyr or other herbicide to be absorbed. I believe many of these smaller plants survive. This makes Creeping Charlie very difficult to control with just spraying.

I've spent many hours picking this weed out by hand. Put some music on and have at it. I went on a binge last fall to eradicate it and I haven't seen any yet! Hoping this year will be better. I expect it to return but I'll be ready to get it from the start.

I have done the same thing over the last few years.. I actually enjoy it,, kind of therapeutic.. I listen to music. and if you clear out an entire area, it does not come back!

Professor although I dont like to use chemicals there is now way I am using your method in try to kill creeping charley. I am too old to be bending down to pull weeds by hand. I got rid of my infestation by using triclopyr in conjunction with other herbicides. It took about 2 bouts of spraying the cocktail about 3 weeks apart.

"Weed" is an opinion. And in my opinion, lawn grasses that are not native to my area are the real weeds. I'd rather have the pollinators like Creeping Charlie or clover than Zoysia or Kentucky Blue. When men finally wake up that a "lawn" is just an aesthetic choice and has detrimental effects on a local ecosystem because they are ecological wastelands, then there is hope.

The leaves, flowers and roots are edible. Makes a delightful tea. I’m thinking of digging some up and drying it for future use

Thinking about putting cardboard down over all my spots and then replacing the soil and reseeding. Have you tried this? Now I'm wondering if the stolens will continue to grow out from cardboard. Why are weeds so resilient, but flowers and grass so sensitive. Very annoying.

Jesh!!!!! Sounds too much like work to me. If I get creeping charlie, it will have a nice home here on my lawn. Weeds are ridiculous and a pain in the Butt if I have to do that much effort.

What does it cure? I only pull them when they have flowers. Otherwise, I leave them because they keep my yard green which is what I want. A green yard retains water, which will then let grass grow.
